Had an afternoon tea and latte with my daughter and also tried their sweet cakes . Omg to die for 👍
I would recommend this place to anyone local or passing threw 👌
The best cafe on the Mornington Peninsula. Wonderful middle eastern flavours, beautiful dips, heart warming Shashouka for breakfast or Old School honours with lamb for lunch is a winner!
Dee & Johnny are great hosts to top it off.
We ordered from the catering menu and were super impressed with the quality of the food. It was delicious! The staff were very helpful & friendly
Nice place for breakfast and lunch, had a good time with the family and we will come back again
Great food and amazing staff.
Best breakfast on the peninsula!
Exciting food. ⭐️ Really friendly staff 🌺 Lovely atmosphere ❤️ Recommend to anyone visiting Dromana.
Best place for brekky! The staff are awesome and super friendly, the food comes out nice and quick. Love the place!!! Oh and the coffee is amazing!!!!!!!
I always love it! So friendly. Whether its early coffee, post gym fuel, snack w kids or vino with friends the menu and ambience works for all
Best coffee on the peninsula! Prompt service with an interesting menu!
Ripper breaky menu! Just YUM
Heaps of fresh, tasty choice to please the fussiest palate
Great table service and much more interesting menu than the main st cafe's ... worth walking couple min off main strip. Coming from a demanding fitzroy girl with high standards
I have nothing bur good things to sad about this cafe 😍😍😍 I can’t believe I hadn’t discovered this place sooner ❤️❤️ brunch was so fantastic at this cafe 💙 I will definitely be back soon 😀
Fantastic service very open to menu changes which we were so greatful for. Really good coffee and juices, reasonably priced and the beetroot dip was to die for.
‘Pier Street Kitchen’ is a little tucked away gem!
Been several times now, and will defiantly keep coming back! Food and coffee is fantastic, as well as happy and helpful staff! Slowly trying all the breakie menu options, and can’t fault much on them.
Very happy I’m a short walk from a great cafe
We had to wait about 30 minutes for food, but it was very busy. Food was amazing. Worth the wait. Keep up the good work.
Picture was of the mashed potato and pumpkin with a poached egg.
Hey, when you wait for quality, freshly prepared, sensational meals - that mean's the place is buzzing with diners, you can relax and chat with your family and friends whilst waiting for your meals and the reason it's so busy is because it is the BEST cafe in the Mornington Peninsula!!! My first choice for a perfect coffee, dessert or all day breakfast! The management have many years of expertise and give their customers nothing short of a great experience. PS... during summer holidays you will wait at the local takeaway shops for a good 40min for your food - at least here I can sit, enjoy a drink and know I will be more than satisfied when my food arrives!!!
Such a wonderful place to eat!!! Saw grouchy reviews from customers who had to wait for their food this morning, as it’s probably one of the best places to eat in the area & everyone knows it!! So, we were afraid to go here, even though reviews for the food were so good, but SO happy we did. 😊👍 Owner & staff were lovely. We didn’t wait at all for service or our orders. Food & coffee were AMAZING! BTW - Best falafel and dips I’ve ever had!
Don't be confused by the name, its called Pier St now. Owner is lovely. Middle eastern inspired food. Slow cooked beef cheeks with polenta chips was tender, juicy & generous. Maybe needed a bit of greenery on the plate too to break it up. The salmon was great, although the poached egg was very overcooked. Coffee was not bad. A bit loud/echoey inside - something to absorb the sound would help. Baklava was delicious
Take note. This place has just changed its name to Pier St, or something like that, so we almost missed it. You simply must eat at this place while on the Mornington Peninsula. The Food is authentic, fresh middle eastern style with a modern twist. It’s a bit hidden from the main beachside strip but the delicious food and kitsch decor will not disappoint. We tried the falafels and the lamb kibbeh. Each came with home made bread and dips. So yummy!! I will be recommending this spot to all my friends 😊
Busy breakfast cafe on a side street in Dromana. Menu had some great options & coffee was reasonably good. Staff on the whole were excellent except for one lady who came across as really impatient and rude. Reasonably priced.
Awesome! Had the fritters and they were unreal! Can't believe I took so long to find this hidden little gem! Will definitely be back soon!!!
The was a very popular little cafe just a stones throw from the beach. The food was really enjoyable and my coffee was very tasty! From the conversations overheard it was clear that this is treated as the local by many folks and it is not hard to see why!
not often down on the Peninsula but when I NEED a coffee, this place never disappoints. Close to closing time but staff still very accommodating. Magnificent coffee which we paired with a chocolate mousse cake and a divine blueberry clafouti. This baker knows what they're doing.... not too sweet with just a hint of rosewater. Cosy, friendly vibe. Prices are good considering the very high quality.
This is by far my favourite cafe on the peninsula. The coffees are fantastic, and I have been incredibly happy with every meal I have eaten here so far. The burgers are full of flavour, as are the sweet potato hash and the risotto. The specials are always changing, so I like to visit regularly!
The only things letting this place down are its prices and its lack of simple cooking. The food was amazing but the menu was so complex it made me just want to get plain eggs on toast and add extras on. Two poached eggs on toast plus avocado and bacon cost me $20.90 which is an absolute rip off. Both of those extras were $5 each. Avocado smash $18 with NO eggs. One egg extra costs $4, ridiculous. Then you see the smashed potato and pumpkin dish with two poached eggs for $17.50 I don't see how that makes sense? There are other places that are more reasonable and also are happy to split bills in the area.
Stopped here for brekky on a peninsula outing. Had the baked beans with a poached egg. Food was good, service was good, and coffee was good. My partner had special dietary requirements and they were more than accomodating. Would return.
Great little cafe well styled offering a great middle eastern menu. Great service! Good coffee for where we were. Fast delivery of food! Well plated!
Driving pass Dormana, we came across this cafe that is already opened early on a monday morning. We ordered our usual coffees, avocado smash, poached eggs with bacon. The portion size was generous. Coffee was reasonably good. I wish there were more chocolate on the cappuccino though.
Friendly staff always makes your meal more enjoyable.
Love this joint - always pretty busy so don't go for a quick meal... that said, overtime I've been it's because I'm away for the weekend and never in a rush.
The staff a very inviting (even though they'e usually getting slammed) and happy to take the time to explain the menu, I've never felt rushed... EVER, which is a true testament to the staff.
Coffee is always bang on, food so fresh and incredibly tasty. Have taken my partner here may times as well as groups of friends & all enjoy it thoroughly. Fairly well priced as well - check out the store and take a piece of Dee's home.
Will be back, 100%
Ordered the "Delicately smashed rosemary potato & pumpkin, garlic aioli, poached eggs, crispy pancetta & pepperonata", However removed the crispy pancetta and added a side of mushrooms to make the dish vegetarian.
The substitution of potato & pumpkin for bread puts a yummy twist on the traditional poached eggs. The potato & pumpkin were cooked & combined beautifully in a way which enhanced the dish. The pepperonata topping added a strong yet enjoyable taste to finish off the meal.
Eggs were cooked perfectly & combined well with the rest of the flavours.
The side of mushrooms (at an extra cost of $4), were not needed as the meal without the pancetta alone was thoroughly filling.
Service was also very accommodating & professional.
Great coffee and breakfast menu, I had the smashed Avo which was delicious and filling. My partner had the shakshuka eggs which was hearty and filling. Service was friendly and prompt, highly recommended!
Awesome! The food was So delicious. Will definitely be back. The food was so fresh and beautifully presented. Friendly staff & quirky interior design made for a great experience.
Cute little place with really nice, fresh food. I had the trout with egg, beetroot and peas for breakfast. Great combination and not too heavy.
Dee-lightful Dromana destination. Dee's Kitchen mixes middle eastern flavours with Mornington Peninsula produce for yummy meals. At midday on a wet weekend, the place is packed with tempting sights and scents.
I chose the pastille - think Tunisian spring rolls with vegies, chickpeas and cumin, and served with a lovely leek and cauliflower grain salad. Soooooo delish. My two lunch companions both chose the rosemary potato & pumpkin with perfectly poached eggs and crunchy strips of pancetta. I didn't get even a bite because they were inhaled appreciately. With coffees and chai lattes, the total came to $69 before tip. They also have a huge range of delicious things to take home including local wines. Sensational 😊
There were lots of staff but service varied between them. Three of our waitresses were lovely - and one particularly was very patient with a fussy guest (not me!) asking lots of questions about the menu before settling on their lunch. But one waitress was not in the same league. When two tea strainers arrived with the remnants of previous patrons' brews, we asked for replacements. Thankfully they were eventually rinsed and returned - but only after we were told rather condescendingly how chai is made & served. Call me picky, but l expect that food implements will be clean when l receive them. It won't stop me going back but drops back my rating a notch. Pity - everything else was so good...
Lovely food and really nice wine list. Generally the customer service is good, however the cafe dishwasher leaves much to be desired. After sending back a filthy wine glass, the second offering was still rather interesting. Even so, will come again.
Always crowded, inside the cafe was a bit noisy when we were there but outside seat was great . Food was good , I can taste they really used the fresh ingredients , home made pita & pita was quite special & refreshing too . Good choice along the sea side .
Hi there,
I'm Taste Merlo and I am delighted to inform you of the great service and food you provide. We were advised to wait 10 minutes for a table, but decided to follow through as the place had a really laid back Sunday vibe. As a sweety sweet tooth, I focused more on the sweet side of the menu. There isn't much variety, however my eyes were drawn to the French Toast. As I ordered my soy flat white (the barista was really cute and wouldn't mind touching his group handle). Furthermore, the food was delicious, staff were extremely friendly and bring great enthusiasm! (The blonde girl needs to work on fixing her RBF).
As I'm rarely on the Ninch, I will recommend to friends and family and will visit again when I'm in the hood.
Happy Days!

Dee's Kitchen is a cool cafe/deli in the seaside down of Dromana, on the Mornington Peninsula. I have been there a couple of times and each time the food was fresh, interesting and delicious. The cuisine has a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern focus. Their menu is seasonal and nearly everything is made on the premises, bread being the exception. On my first visit to Dee's I had the delicious shakshouka. My perfectly poached eggs were nestled in a pool of spicy salsa with spinach and chèvre. A very satisfying dish. Loved the smokiness of the chorizo and the house baked pita was perfect.
Really nice food I had ricotta hotcakes they where to die for and a chai tea was amazing probably one of the best breakfast iv had at a café so far my partners breakfast was also amazing only recommendations would be they should have a seasonal menu but that's my opinion as I'm quite fussy and there's not much else I wouldn't want to eat on the menu.
Really like Dee's Kitchen. Love the surroundings and the food is so good.light and healthy food which Is hard to find in Dromana. Service can be a little slow sometimes and food is a bit pricey. All up; best place to go in Dromana for a worthwhile, coffee or meal. ☕️
Super tasty food. All day breakfast is always a win with me. We came at 2:30 for lunch so being quite late it was only about half full. Staff were super friendly. Right on the ball. Food and drinks came out really quick! Would return!
This place has got the vibe! It was absolutely brimming on a sunday morning and we had only a short wait until we secures a table. The staff are passionate and enjoy a chat which is always a good thing to start the day with.
Coffee was great and came out quickly despite the place being near capacity. Fruit toast was also very good with 2 solid slices. Also had plenty of 'fruit' in the toast as opposed to 2 sultanas some places serve up. The ham and cheese croissant was also pretty tasty.
It was recommended by a local that we check this place out and now i know why everyone is flicking here! Great spot
I always look forward to the summer time when I can come to Dees kitchen for a delish breaky before going to the beach! My fave dish is definitely the smashed pumpkin and potato with peperonata. Very authentic and has all the right flavours! Great coffee too. Can't wait to come back.
The food here is both interesting and tasty with a Middle Eastern flair, although servings are small and prices are therefore relatively expensive. Coffee here is also somewhat hit and miss, but it certainly is one of the better places in the area.
Unlike others I have found the service to be one of the better bits - fast and friendly!
We had a fabulous lunch here. Delicious Smoked trout chimiraki and Eggplant moussaka - perfect combination of flavours in both dishes, and great choice of salad ingredients in the chimiraki. Coffee was excellent too - strong but not bitter. Nice atmosphere, attentive service and amazing food. We'll be back.
Expensive Delicious Habit.

We had a really nice lunch at Dee's Kitchen and I'd say the people around us did as well- there was a really nice atmosphere with lots of groups of friends, families and kids. We ordered a brownie on the way out to sustain us on the drive back to Melbourne, and it was absolutely delicious. There's a couple of tables outside which seemed very popular. I'd recommend this place next time you're in the area.
I've tried a couple of breakfasts here now and they have all been of a very acceptable standard. A welcome addition the the peninsula when you feel like a little piece of Melbourne and don't want standard English breakfast. All influence by Mediterranean flavours the breads and bases for the dishes are all lovingly prepared in house. Coffee's not too bad either. Service is always friendly but with somewhat of the regional charm. The shakshuka is really tasty. A bit watery for my liking on the tomato sauce and the eggs are poached and then added. But still a delish start to the day.
Food is always amazing, I love coming here because it doesn't serve your typical restaurant meals, they are all made in house, delicious and super tasty! Also rates in my top 3 places to have coffee on the peninsula. It's consistently tastes no matter which barista is making it.
So good. Glad I came here and had a great meal. Definitely would return if I was in the area again. I could not fault it. Service was great and food was even better.
Friendly staff, coffee was great. The Ricotta hot cakes were the best I've ever had. My mum ordered the lasagne and said it was luke warm and a bit sloppy. Only downside was the service was quite slow waiting 40mins for our food, however my meal was well worth the wait.
Stopped by on the way back to Melbourne for breakfast at Dee's kitchen and what a great little find. The Mediterranean twist they have on all the dishes is fantastic. Nice fitout and service was spot on. I had the shashouka with eggs which I highly recommend, just the right spice. Smashed avocado was done well also. I Would probably eat here every weekend if I lived in dromana. It's a winner
One of my favourite spots along the peninsula, but a change in management had left the food portions a little wanting. Serving sizes seem smaller for breakfast foods (my avocado smash was very wanting in the avocado department...), but what is there is still very delicious.
The coffee is well made, and while I'm glad they're careful not to burn it, its occasionally a little luke warm. However staff are gracious with requests and fixes, and in general are really friendly and helpful.
My favourite meal right now is the shakshouka - its a delicious winter warmer. They do change their menu seasonally, so don't get too attached to any particular menu item.
Had a luncheon with my daughter, we both loved the rustic look and feel. The coffee is good, and the service is friendly. The food is very nice, we just did not like to eat from infested wood boards, much rather plates. The falafel balls were very nice, yet somewhat stingy (only 3 balls and 1 pita bread...). Very nice place for this side of the peninsula, will probably come here again.
Ride down to Dees fairly regular just for a great coffee and always worth a look at the Desserts :) never been disappointed if we decide to have a meal either
We came for breakfast and loved the menu choices. The food was delicious and staff were friendly. We will definitely be back to try the dinner menu.
Shakshouka/Ricotta Hotcakes. Great service, staff were all very vibrant first thing in the morning, meals beyond words and we'll definitely be back.
Coffee to perfection and didn't even have to ask for more water :)
My favourite spot!. My partner & I venture to Dee's as often as possible for breakfast or lunch. Such a comfortable, funky & unpretentious wee place. Best coffee this side of the city. Friendly & relaxed staff. The highlight is definitely the food. Great quality, inspired cuisine with great flavours & well presented. OH & THE DONUTS!!! The wine list is also amazing with lots of great local drops to choose from. Dee's is a must....will be back!!!
Deeeeeeeelishus!! Friendly staff, great food & coffee. Takeaway cakes at $8 each are a bit pricey though
Love this place! It's hard to decide on what to order! Staff are lovely. Cakes delicious - but expensive.
Sunday brunch hits expectations. Arrived around 11am and no problem being shown to a clean table. Great service and outstanding brunch & lunch food. Certainly will be back.
Great coffee, friendly service. Called past for a couple of take away coffees after tossing up which Cafe to try in the area (had way to many bad ones over the years). I walked in to be greeted by a friendly barista enjoying his day who seemed to know his way around his machine, I ordered 2 strong flat whites whilst having a friendly chat, so all round very happy with our decision and would like to go back to try some of what looked like beautiful food.
Had a bite to eat here today.. Place seemed inviting after entering waited to be seated at door as requested couple of waiters/waitresses looked at us as they went by but no one approached us for at least 5min.. Was about to leave when across the room a waiter caught my attention & waved us to come towards him where there was a vacant table.. After being seated another waitress approached us to take our order. Coffee & a glass of moscato was ordered along with a mezzo board which included 2 fresh warm buns, 2 dips, small bowl of olives tiny serving bowl of feta, peppernonatto, and pickled veggies to share. Which sounds yummy but after waiting 1/2hr before our board reached us we finished our coffee & 1/2 glass of wine which I was purposely sipping as I needed some food with the wine. But the plate was yummy just needed more as serving was on the stingy side..our waitress was friendly.. Will probably give it another go. But no rush.
Avocado with Chevre. Absolutely delicious
Flawless. The warmgreeting from the man with the mo really set the tone. The place was packed, always a good sign, however we didn't wait long for a table. The falafels with quinoa salad were simply amazing, and the home made lasagne, I was told, was delicious. The waitstaff were very attentive and more than happy to stop and chat about the food and answer our questions about some of the quirky decor. Do yourself a favour next time you're down Dromana way and drop in.
Side street winner. Best coffee in dromana. Good gluten free options, love the breaky with chorizo n sumac. Alas inner city prices for this food. Wish there were more gluten free cake options.
Dee-lightful (sorry, had to). We were greeted with a smile the moment we walked in, seated, and given water instantly. Our waitress (a petite girl with long hair) was chirpy and very helpful, pointing out the best dishes for us to eat. Our coffees (made by the girl with very short hair) were great! We'd been all over rural Victoria by this point, and knew the standard for small towns like Dromana - the coffee is usually atrocious, even at the most highly rated places of whatever area. Because of this, the coffee at Dee's was such a pleasant surprise.
The food - my shakshuka was an average shakshuka, not bad, not wonderful. The home-made flatbread that came with it was great, though. My boyfriend got the "Delicately Smashed Potato" breakfast, however, and it was AMAZING. We've eaten at so many cafes in our time, and have never seen or eaten a dish quite like that one. It was sweet and smooth, with the crispy pieces of salty prosciutto adding the BEST flavour. I had some serious food envy. If you're thinking of eating at Dee's for brekky, get it!
All in all? This place impressed both of us. Service, coffee, food, everything. I have no idea where the negative reviews are coming from on here. But perhaps they saw the feedback and upped their game? Our experience was great.
Consistently great!. I've been to Dee's Kitchen well over ten times and always recommend it to tourists and locals alike. Service is always great and even when there is a wait on food the wait staff keep us updated and happy with drinks. The pumpkin potato and panchetta smash is amazing. I have tried most of the breakfast menu but keep coming back to that one. Generous serving sizes and locally sourced products are always a perk!
Tourists that have only been there once and have used harsh words below should maybe expect that in peak season things can be a little more hectic than usual and your rude reviews can be damaging to small businesses that are experiencing an "off day" rather than what is actually the norm.
Great tasting food... Awesome friendly service! Totally recommend this place if you are in Mornington.
My friends and I had such a fun time here! The vibes were very chill and the staff were super friendly, attentive, and even gave us a few laughs as we ordered our food and drinks. The food was really flavourful and delicious, we were all so satisfied at the end, and it didn’t even take that long to come out too. I’ll definitely come back again when I get the chance!!
Mushroom lovers - this dish is to die for!!! A sensational selection of wild mushrooms, a generous dolop of whipped truffle goats cheese, topped with a perfectly poached egg and finished with a light sprinkling of sharp Pecorino.
A great tasting, full bodied rich 'Supreme' coffee beats the other places nearby hands down.
I had the toast and eggs with a bunch of extras on the side just yesterday morning. The food was nice, I asked for my eggs over easy and the eggs were done almost perfectly.
Honestly this Cafe reminds me of the old Cafe Jett that use to be around the corner. The coffee is also consistently nice and their large mugs are actually quite large.
The only downside my review is the fact that I had to wait an hour for 2 sets of eggs on toast with some extras on the side. I understand that it was the Easter long weekend, but they had plenty of staff on hand to reduce that time. Cafe Jett had a 40 minute wait max for their food on the busiest of days..
Still, overall the food was good, the coffee was great. I will be coming again, just not on a public holiday when it is busy.
Simple outdoor setting, extremely friendly and efficient staff, wide choice of vegetarian dishes, reasonable pricing, generous servings, very tasty mains and smoothies etc. what more do you expect? Will certainly visit again. I would rate this cafe as the No.1 cafe in Dromana. Period.

Very good restaurant that accommodates vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free diets. The serving portions might seem less for the price but they actually fill you up just the right amount.
The food is made fresh and is absolutely delicious. The staff is also very sweet and attentive. The entire ambience of the calm and easy going, matches the environment at Dromana. Would highly recommend it. Also be sure to call ahead as it's very busy during lunch time.
Had a wonderful lunch with the family here today. Nice friendly atmosphere and the food was amazing! Highly recommend!
