Review The Woods Cafe & Deli - Earlwood

Nice staff, acceptable preparation time, Good quality food with reasonable price. Street parking should be available around the location. There’s backyard dining space in addition to the in store set of tables. The best point for them is that they offer kindda mix-and-match option, where you’d be able to choose the items you enjoy the most ☺️

Very very nice and friendly service combined with their delicious food, my favourite being the chicken sandwich!! Much bigger place than looks like from the outside and can sit either outside or inside.

Delicious mocha, as I like it, not to sweet with the bitter aroma of coffee. The cup was well covered by chocolate, great experience. The muffin then was awesome. I got a blueberry and walnuts one, it looked like made artesanal by experienced bakers. Incredibly great. They might be seasonal or limited edition flavour, so hurry up!

No atmosphere at all and the food was just average, but the coffee was very nice though.

Great coffee and delicious food. Service was fast and friendly. Got the big breakfast which was a generous portion for a reasonable price. Highly rated... If I lived in Sydney, I'd be here for breakfast every week.

Ordered two ham and cheese croissants on Uber Eats this morning, quite disappointed :(( We were starving, but the croissants are burnt and very oily...It’s very upsetting to start our morning with a breakfast like this.

Be prepared for a large price tag for small servings as well as burnt undrinkable coffee. The management staff were extremely unhelpful as well as hanging up on us when we questioned the portion size of their $8 chips that fit into a small bowl. I won't be coming back here ever again. Whether they have changed management or owners it's clear that they have changed from being customer-focused to money hungry and not caring. I wouldn't recommend eating here.

Excellent service and high quality and tasty food. They make a sensational decaffeinated coffee for me, which is creamy and beautiful to drink.

Was there a few weeks ago when I visited my sister in Sydney, had the best French toast I've ever eaten, serving size was very lavish and was full as a goog till dinner time. Friendly staff and reasonable prices make me a next time visitor when I return to visit my sister Catherine and Margot

Had to send my food back twice as there was a hair both times staff was extremely rude about it an not apologetic. When they took the food back for the second time they didn't come back to offer anything else or apologise in fact the woman who took the plate took it to the kitchen and then decided to sit down and have her lunch. Was nearly charged for the whole meal and my gf had to mention the incident herself to the guy at the counter as he had no idea. The staff were so rude and unprofessional and acted like we were inconveniencing them and that they had not ruined our breakfast ! My gf is a regular and notices that service is only good when then owner is there. The owner wasn't there today ! I would be disgusted as an owner of the place if my staff acted the way they did while I was not there !

Delicious affordable food, personable staff that know our orders off by heart and an overall great "regular". Perfect gem for the inner west

I used to go there sometimes. But since they stopped accepting card payment. I won’t go there anymore. I find it almost rude to do so, while social distancing is in place.

I was literally driving past this cafe, thought it looked good and stopped to see if they had bowl food for breaky. They certainly did!! Beautiful Chai Porridge with Dates and Almonds. Enjoyed it thoroughly. The cafe itself is cozy, with a courtyard out the back. Service was good too.
Will be back for sure and would recommend.

This is how my order arrived from Uber. When I contacted the Cafe they immediately passed the buck. The lady was rude and obnoxious. I told her she should wrap the coffees in future. She said we don’t do that. They clearly wrapped the syrup for the pancakes and I have ordered from other cafes with Uber and they’re intelligent enough to do the same. She hung up on me while I was explaining how they should improve for the future. Never going there again.

Charming little cafe in suburban Sydney.
Surprisingly good coffee! Typical brunch dishes but sometimes classic dishes when done right are absolute winners. This cafe did not disappoint.

When to have morning tea, customer services are bad. Food hygiene is concerned. Found something in the plate. Went to pay the bill, charged with incorrect bill. Advice to other customers: Check your bill before you pay!

Not a bad little cafe in Earlwood. Coffee is ok. I got the french toast which was a generous serving but way too eggy. The bacon was a little on the overcooked and oily side. The rhubarb and ricotta was nice. Hubs got a ham, cheese and spinach toasted sandwich and I immediately knew he chose well. The leg ham seems hand carved and no joke was at least 1cm thick one side and looked amazing. Sourdough is buttered on the outside too which always makes toasted sandwiches awesome. I would come back to have one of their toaster sandwiches most definitely.

Used to be great. Fallen off a bit. Coffee has always not been the best bit food and service made up for it.
Food's still good, but service isn't what is used to be. Waitress might have been there too long or are just over worked (not all, just a couple of them) and are a bit narky and openly talking badly about customers. Still good, but has lost the friendliness it used to have. Based on a couple of experiences.

..Blueberry buttermilk pancakes served with palm sugar butter & syrup are the best, literally the best pancakes, I've EVER eaten..
It doesn't come with icecream which should be illegal, although you can always just ask for a scoop, or two on the side 😆

Cafe or funeral home?

This is where service comes to rest and attitude awakens like a scene from resident evil. I wasn't sure if I was being served by people or the walking dead.

Been here 4 times and every time it's the same lazy service and below average food.

Breakfast is rushed by staff that are easily stressed and it shows on the plate. Over cooked eggs and greasy sides that could only be forgiven if they were made by the kids on Mother's Day

I ordered the special of the day which was the grilled Cuttle Fish. They were out of the Cuttle Fish wasn't available so they offered barramundi. What ended I ended up with was a processed deep fried meal with no apology and a salad that was soaked in dressing and yogurt?

Will not be back. If I want to feel like I survived an apocalypse I can go to the RTA.
My local coffee house. Easily the best coffee in Sydney. Every time I walk in I'm greeted with a smile. Mary the barista takes the care to remember her return customers orders and has them steaming and ready within minutes. Another thing I love is the fresh made cakes, biscuits and brownies always there to tempt me for my morning drive to work

Big breakfast. Tried the breakfast here after eating lunch a couple of years back - noticed the new deli but I was there first thing as usual and it wasn't open yet. Had the usual test subject - the big breakfast. Bacon, eggs, mushroom, 2 small sausages, 2 tomato, 1 toast. Sound familiar? Not terrible, not special, service OK - decamped and moved on. Busy place with the locals - not much like this cafe in the immediate area.

An Earlwood local myself, I’m thrilled to have a fine café located within walking distance from my house. The Woods Café and Deli is a relaxed and casual café run by Emma Woods, a former Rockpool Chef that offers breakfast and lunch daily and a dinner on the last Saturday of every month. Always bustling with happy locals Look out for the delicious array of daily specials Every day a delicious assortment of baked goodies are on offer to tantalise the taste buds and extinguish even the strongest of sweet cravings. If its a hearty breakfast you want then “The Woods Big Breakfast” is the dish for you. Bacon, eggs, tomato, sausage and mushrooms served with a thick slab of sourdough toast. I really liked the herby mushrooms and the way they crisp the bacon. This breaky is every bit as delicious as it looks – maybe more so. A really tasty dish the Woodsie’s baked eggs with braised eggplant, peppers, white beans and oregano comes with

There are kids options on the menu and at breakfast time kidlets can enjoy eggs on toast for $7.50 or blueberry & buttermilk pancakes with palm sugar butter & syrup for $10.00. Our little dudes however had spied the freshly baked blueberry & white chocolate muffins ($4) sitting on the cake counter and decided that these were in order for their Saturday breakfast. The muffin was crispy on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside and they hadn't skimmed on the blueberries or white chocolate that's for sure!

The Woods is located slightly away from the hub bub of Earlwood's main shopping area, but this does ensure that there is plenty of parking available. When we arrive it is pretty clear that this new addition has already snared itself quite a few local followers, meaning that scoring a table is not a fait accompli. Fortunately we arrived just as some were leaving so after a quick wipe down, we were seated and keen to see what the menu had to offer.

Wont be returning. Coffee and food is ok but not excellent. Wish it was better because earlwood really needs a cool, relaxed cafe for the locals. The staff really need to acknowledge that their customer base, their regulars, are parents with kids but unfortunately, every time we turn up with kids we are met with sour looks and extraordinarily bad service by almost all the staff, including Emma herself. Overall, its not a great experience. We are all happy to travel further out for our coffees and certainly wont be returning to the woods cafe.

Mediocre all round. The Woods Cafe & Deli is a decent local cafe, yet is priced as if it were in the heart of a sprawling metropolis - as opposed to the quiet suburban street where it actually stands. Do expect friendly, chatty service - the cafe is staffed very well.

The food however, is only ever decent, with food made to order faring significantly better than the options in the 'deli'. The portions are generous however, and well worth the wait.

Be very careful about ordering from the deli as food is often kept in the display until it is sold out. I have on occasion ordered a dessert with fruit, only to discover mould growing on the supposedly 'fresh' cake.

Finally, the coffee. The coffee is extremely mediocre overall. Good enough if all you're after is a caffeine hit, but don't expect a consistent cup quality. Sometimes the coffee will be excellent, other times tasting burnt and cheap.

Good coffee in the not-quite inner west. This is my local and I'm very happy to have a decent cafe in Earlwood. Unlike the previous reviews I like their coffee and the courtyard is good with the kids.

Came in just after their kitchen closed so could only choose from their fridge. The lamb pie was delish! Coffee wasn't impressive.. I didn't like was the size of their large latte. It was HUGE! Was like drinking warm milk.

Disappointing dinner. As regulars of The Woods Cafe & Deli, my partner and I decided to go to their ‘once a month’ dinner. We have always loved their coffee and breakfast so was looking forward to their dinner. Unfortunately their dinner did not deliver anything of good value. I found their food to be quite lacklustre in both taste and presentation. It lacked any real effort and was average in taste. I found the steak to be very chewy, quite disappointing considering the price ($26). Similarly, their service was very average and at times rude. One waitress in particular was pushing us to purchase alcohol from the liquor store across the road. Further, we were also frowned upon by one waitress for not ordering entrees or desert. This was poor customer service. My partner and I have decided to never visit this cafe again. As regulars, we expected the service to be good and the staff to be friendly. This unfortunately was not the case.

Love this joint....have done weekly breakfast here almost since it opened and still enjoy going back. Food is good, coffee is good and the setting works well. A relaxing local

Saturday night dinner. I've had dinner at The Woods three times, three of my best dinners ever.

The food is fantastic, very tasty and original.

Last night I had Rare beef and Green Mango Salad followed by Prawn and Crab Linguine, just brilliant.

Daniel

Sub standard coffee. Very average coffee. I've been several times but it doesn't get any better.

I've never had this much trouble to order. If your planning to cater for doctors, unfortunately these girls are not the most helpful. My request was simply 3 wraps or sandwiches. Okay so they don't have a plate to put the sanwiches on... even when i asked if i could drop one in they seemed reserved. When i asked for fesh sandwiches they said they can only make all 3 sanwiches alike! No variety?? Do they even want business?? .

Ms Jana. Lunch there about twice weekly. First great dishes. Yesterday disappointing steak sandwich boring very buttery, too much rocket salad and white bread (no no no). Also the chicken salad on Turkish bread (too much rocket salad). Okay guys we know rocket salad is on the menu, but we have been eating it since I was a little girl. It has now become overkill. Streak sandwich had one big cold tomato sitting on the bread which left a huge bitter taste for me to return.

Breath of fresh air. Had to go to Earlwood for a meeting today and since we were there at lunchtime, we tried The Woods. It looked like the only decent cafe on that road. What a fantastic surprise to find such a nice cafe! I had the linguine with prawns, garlic and chili and it was absolutely delicious. Couldn't fault it. My husband had the Caesar salad and it was a really generous helping with fresh ingredients and full of flavour. Didn't have room for dessert but noticed the freshly baked muffins on the counter. I wish I lived near here because I bet it's great for breakfast! The decor was contemporary and relaxed but very stylish and the staff were lovely too.

Woods Cafe & Deli. This is one of Sydney's best kept secrets within the Inner West border with St George. Chef Emma Tom creates dishes with a slight modern mediterraneo feel and works with the best produce which she chooses herself. The value, service and price are exceptional and Saturday/Sunday brekkie/lunch is a reminder of a cafe with a determined focus and management that worked with Neil Perry. A great addition to Earlwood/Clemton Park!
