Been going here since I was a kid. Always a good meal & friendly staff. Love going here for family dinners. Takes some time to order and you are stuck in the queue for quite some time. But worth it when you have a beautiful meal.
Always very good food here, can be very busy even during weekdays so make sure to book ahead!
This place is pretty consistent. It's good pub food. Yeah maybe the prices are a bit higher than some pubs but I've never been completely shocked by the bill. The things they have on tap though are awesome. The Ginger Beer is potent and it's like drinking a normal Bundaberg Ginger beer for flavour so really good... It will creep up on you. 😍 Overall the selection of both food and drinks is great. The service is very good and the staff are professional and friendly. Can't ask for more.
Beautiful interior, very polite and welcoming staff!
The staff looked me in the eyes and engaged in conversation which made me feel very welcome.....
Good selection of traditional and craft beers on a great tap set up, the bar looked good!
Food was delicious, I had the chicken schnitzel w/chips n salad and mushroom sauce.
It was the lunch special ($14 w/sauce), I think it was a very reasonable price for the portion size and sauce included.
Plenty of room inside and a large outdoor area as well.
Massive tv screen inside as well, it's huge.....
I'll be back!
Very busy place, fantastic cocktails, but food is average for a pub, which is not bad!
Plenty of seating in the bar and tab area, but more limited in the restaurant area. Still some good areas to eat if the restaurant is full without being in the middle of everyone which is nice
Having been to several fine dining restaurants in my time I can honestly say I put the food at the George up there as fine dining quality!!! Every time I eat there I try different things and have been blown away every time. Absolutely beautiful food and very reasonably priced , perfect service time and excellent staff .
Love Monday steak special, had it twice already! (Onion is from other dishes)
At the moment I'm writing this, I'm at the George tavern. Ok, I'll be blunt first. And please take this as an opinion, but, I ordered a pizza and well, it's not the best pizza I've had. But this is a small detail and you shouldn't base a good night out based on a pizza. This is also a pet peeve of mine, but, brace yourself on drink orders. A can of coke is $4.20. (Nice) A little bit annoying sure, but, remember, this is an Australian restaurant. Places like this can be pricey.
Ok, now I'm done with the bad stuff, let's be positive and go over the good stuff. Despite my choice in food, the staff do a great job. Remember people, times are hard and everyone is doing the best they can.
You have to commend them greatly on that and the service is good. And, come on. The bread starter, AMAZING. Yeah, I actually liked the bread! It was great! I recommend ordering some as the starter.
The atmosphere is designed to entertain traditionalists and you can tell the owners go all out. We have to also address the effort the chef does cooking the food. It's not huge with me, but when cooking a dish sometimes food needs to look impeccable and the chef does a good job here. The steaks here look awesome.
I recommend this place if you're looking for an excuse for a great night out and if you're not typically worried about how expensive the food is. It's also definitely worth a visit if you're travelling and don't know where to go or just want a reason to stop for food.
Oh, before I go, if you don't exactly know where The George is, it's in Greenhills, next to the shopping centre. It may be easy to miss at first but if you're diligent, you should be able to find it.
