Review The Prophet - East Victoria Park

Food is nice. However I think if the satay sauce separate with the dish will be better. I only can taste the sauce not with the rice. A bit weird..

Amazing food once again! We did the set menu this time, we were not disappointed and had a heap of leftovers to take home for tomorrow. Great service too.

So good, I have been coming here for years and the food has been consistently amazing. Great staff and service, love the Lebanese bread. We got the mixed platter which had a wide variety of meat, rice and salad. The sauces were also really nice and rich with flavour. You could really taste the love in the dishes. Definitely returning again :)

The falafel was great , the main meal was ridiculous , too much sauce (hammus and baba ghanoush) but not enough rice ? the customer service was silly.. the girl gave the plate to my sister and the plate fell from her hand.. the girl just looked and walked away ?? No offer to help by at least offering tissue for the salad spilt or the drink spilt ?? The other lady came and looked and just walked away again nobody offered to help. The price is pretty bad aswell. $38 for the mix meal and doesn’t even include shrimp like every other place. And the food is too rice in butter or something because that’s all I tasted. Not coming back sorry. all I know is if it was any other restaurant we would have gotten some assistance with the falling of the plate no matters who fault it was.. this girl basically said ‘oh I have it to her hand it felt down, I don’t care’ 12.02.2022 at 7:20-8:30pm

A Five star Cafe with great value Lebanese food. Excellent Shish Kebab. Fresh Chips with a lovely Arabian style salad. The complementary hummus was a nice touch. The barbecued meat was delicious and tender. Authentic Lebanese ambience including, tasteful Arabic music and wooden tables. Ice cold water in jugs with glasses. Mine host checked around to make sure we were each enjoying our food. Perfect subdued lighting just like a Middle Eastern Cafe. Pleasant and simple decor. Could be in Damascus. The waitress was friendly and efficient too.

Fantastic service, great food. Please make sure to book a table because this place gets really busy at times.

Came to Perth a year ago from Syd, missing the nice Lebanese charcoal chicken with pickles, garlic sauce and chips you could find around Bankstown and other suburbs. Having lunch at the prophet just gave me a whole new experience of the Lebanese cousin, nothing like what I have tasted before. Very recommended.
Beyond Tha Noize
The Food, Service and Price could not be faulted. Every single Dish was amazing! this is a must visit for Every Lebanese Food lover. Easily the best in Perth! Can't wait to get back there.

Service is friendly, room is small and loud, but the food is unbelievable. Best tabouleh and best felafel I’ve had, and the chicken livers are incredible. This is not pretentious fine dining, but honest food cooked with love. Try it - but be sure to book in advance.
Pedro Pedro
been 10 famous Lebanese restaurants in melb but nothing was even half close to Prophet. probably Prophet is the best Lebanese restaurant in Aus. Also their vegetarian menu is amazing !

Authentic Lebanese food made fresh for you, generous size serving & great value. Fresh salads, excellent quality mains; lamb melts in your mouth, fish perfectly cooked, falafel balls crispy on the outside yet light and flavourful to the bite. Waitresses efficient & friendly, great atmosphere- love that you can see the kitchen & your meal being cooked with nothing to hide. Fantastic restaurant- we keep coming back

Was the most amazing food experience cooked with love highly suggest this place wow

Excellent food... great atmospheres Down to earth owner who personally make sure you are happy with everything. Going there again when I visit Perth next time.

Love The Prophet. It’s like going home. Fabulous food, outstanding service. Always made welcome by Jihad, Christian and all the staff. If you want authentic Lebanese food, no other Lebanese restaurant comes close to The Prophet.
Linda Mckean
Great food, great atmosphere, the best friends. Been coming here since 2004. Still the best.
Jeanette Goburdhun
Service OK didn't like the table stuck outside next to the op shop that was like the leaning tower and the koftas tasted like they had been re cooked and burnt it used to be a great place to eat. We won't be going back
Jeana Papas
We had a party of 11, everyone loved the food. I already knew it was great, now you have 10 concerts...the best form of advertising.

It's a few years since I've been to this fabulous little gem. Nothing has changed! Food is amazing, service prompt, wait staff pleasant and attentive, prices great! I will not be waiting a few more years to revisit!
Charlie Black
Best Lebanese food in Perth. Nothing is too much trouble. And the taste is just like my grandmothers food.
Jon Valmont
absolutely delicious..vic parks hidden gem

Came here for a late lunch. Staff were super friendly, food was delicious - I ordered Lentils & rice & Lebanese coffee. Came out served with Lebanese bread, dip, dill pickles. Great experience, can’t wait to bring my friends & family back.

Actual rating: 4.5/5
Sensational dinner that totally lived up to all the positivity I had been hearing from friends.

Very laid back, homestyle ambience with no unnecessary frills and a comfortable nostalgic touch. The waitstaff were approachable, super friendly, down to earth and had a great sense of humour. They helped us order an exquisite set of plates: falafels, the mixed platter and the hot fish. The gravy on that hot fish was to die for (so badly want the recipe for this!), the fish was cooked perfectly and the chips were crispier and tastier than the usual. Beautifully cooked, moist meat skewers with great char on the outside, plus silky smooth hommus and delicious baba ganoush and tabouleh. Falafels were crisp and golden, and fluffy on the inside.

Dessert was also good - particularly the baklava which reached unholy levels of butteriness - all washed down with a great cup of lebanese coffee.

Cannot fault the food or the service at all ... however it is a little bit on the expensive side.
Steve Doherty
Absolutely no complaints at all about this place. The felafels were delicious and my main course was equally good. Massive serves which meant I easily got two complete meals from one order. Be careful not to over order - the serves are quite big. Delicious middle eastern food!

I must go back and try the meat platter.

Loving every bits of The Prophet, it is a tiny hidden gem in Victoria Park. This was my second time having an early dinner here at The Prophet after nearly 5 years. I didn’t make any reservation during my second visit, I went there as early as 6PM and that’s pretty much the best time to walk-in if you haven’t made any booking.

We ordered:
- Meat Mix Platter: it consists of chicken and lamb kebab, kale salad, hummus dip, flavourful Lebanese rice

If you’re a meat lover, do make sure to order the meat mix platter - the portion is really generous and you’ll get a basket of complimentary Lebanese bread once you’ve ordered your meal. I love adding the ingredients of the mix platter on top of my bread so it’ll look like some kind of wrap and of course you’ll even fall in love with the flavour once you’ve added a tiny amount of pickled cucumber with the dips.

I really wanted to order the Falafel, but, I knew it’d be way too much for two people. Therefore, the Falafel is on the top of my bucket list during my upcoming third visit.

Let me start off with that the staff are very friendly and accomodating. The food on the other hand was a huge miss for me. We ordered some Lebanese bread with baba ganush and tabouleh as well as some kofta kebabs. The most basic thing like bread was extremely stale and chewy. We sent it back and got literally the same thing just heated up in a microwave 😂 The dip was the only nice thing we had. The tabouleh definitely wasn’t very fresh either. The kofta kebabs were really tough on the outside and the inside was like jelly.
We love Lebanese food and were recommended here by a friend however unfortunately none of the food was really that great so we definitely won’t be back.
Craig Lampard
What a fantastic restaurant this is. From the moment we were seated received great service started with a free pre-dinner entree of dip and bread, had a huge serving of lamb on a skewer for main dripping with butter (mmmmm) and tasty salad. Priced extremely well they welcome BYO. Check it out, but be sure to book first as they are always busy.

Delicious food, we were recommended to get the mixed meat platter, which was an excellent choice for the two of us. Food was tasty, meats were tender. We also ordered the falafels which my husband loves (he usually doesn't like falafels). Very crispy. Waitresses and owner were very friendly. Atmosphere is nice and cosy, a bit noisy due to the small space and full tables. Prices were reasonable. We would definitely come back.
Foodie In Paradise
We came here for dinner on the weekend and this restaurant was very busy and luckily we had the reservation.
We asked the staff for some recommendation and they are all very friendly. Food was flavorsome but far too salty for our liking. Portion was huge.
Definitely more like a 3.5 rating from me. If it is less salty , probably I would have enjoy the food more.
Vicky Li
Best. Falafels. Ever.
My friend and I stumbled across this place and decided to spontaneously dine here after not knowing where to eat and I’m so glad we did. The restaurant was warm and inviting and almost all of the tables were full (on a Tuesday night!) - we were told they were fully booked but we could sit outside if we’d like to and we happily took that offer.
We shared the vego mixed plate and the falafels and thoroughly enjoyed both. I thought that the mixed plate was a little pricey for the amount that you get ($28) but is a great option if you’re unsure about what to order and allows you to try a variety of yummy things.
Waitstaff were great, food came out super quick and even the owner came out to check on us - totally standby its popularity and the high zomato rating after coming here ☺️ 4.5 stars
Adamjomi222
Delicious middle eastern food at a cheap price. Ordered a variety of dishes, one being a shared platter with falafel, dips and pita and it was some of the best falafel I’ve ever tried. The only issue is it’s a small restaurant, so getting a table can be a challenge and it can get quite loud. Other than this, for top quality food, you should definitely give this place a go!
Ilovebeansprouts
Tried a variety of dishes- lamb skewers, chicken skewers, fried kibbeh, baked kibbeh, chicken rice, eggplant and cauliflower. They were all nicely cooked and tasted good, but they didn't really have a wow factor to them, except the deep fried cauliflower (this is 👍). Food was good simple, but some dishes were a bit too simple and for the prices we were paying, we felt that we could even cook them at home. Like the Shish Tawook, $18 for 2 chicken skewers, salad and chips- chicken was cooked well, but salad was just a standard one across dishes and chips were a bit limpy and soggy. Service was outstanding though, very warm and friendly.

Can not believe it has taken me this long to get here!! Seriously good Lebanese food. VERY reasonably priced! We went the Meat Banquet and I would highly recommend it for a first time visit as you get to taste an amazing array of their delicious food!! Very generous serving sizes! We will be back for sure!!
Tiffany May
Excellent food and service! The shish kebab (lamb), kafta (lamb), shish tawook (chicken) and falafel were so tasty. We ordered the meats and skewers individually as opposed to with chips and salads so we could sample a wider variety of meats - all served with a tzatziki sauce.

The shish tawook (chicken skewer) was so so so tender. I don't think I've ever had a more tender and juicy chicken skewer. The shish kebab was a little tougher but the flavours were very rich and good. The kafta was okay. The falafel was the best part of the meal. The hummus was a little pricey and not so worth it but it was nice too. I liked the complimentary bread and garlic dipping that came with our meal. Such generous portions too.

The waitstaff were very friendly and explained the menu quite well.

Overall, good experience and nice atmosphere and decor.

We were expecting so much from this place, but was a big letdown. Don’t get me wrong the meat was beautifully marinated and tender but it stops there. The dips weren’t anything special and the tabouleh was very old with soggy tomatoes.
Satay chicken was quite bland and I feel it could be easily recreated at home.

Won’t be coming back. There are many similar Turkish/Lebanese restaurants with the same food at a lower cost

They also served us an out of date drink! Quite stingy
Melissa M
The best Lebanese food in Perth! Such beautiful hospitality from the owners really makes you feel like family! If you’re a first time diner you must order the Satay chicken! It’s what dreams are made of!
TH87
I was expecting so much more from this place , everyone says it's really good but I don't agree, the food was tasteless, the chicken and rice is something I could do at home with last nice braised chicken breast, the satay chicken was very sweet and the lady confused my order and brought me chicken livers, then when we asked for the bill she forgot so we had to ask another lady. I won't go back.

Grab a Falafel Kebab with either Homos or Labneh yogurt dip and grab some bread if like too, to slap up the yogurt dip and homos. Bread comes free with a meal, so if you getting more than one dish, you'll have more than enough!

The food is fresh and tasty, but if you want a table then book it early as it gets quite busy, which may mean you'd need to make it a take away.

If I recall, it was cash only for some reason. Not sure if they have eftpos now or whether they charge extra to use a card.

Pricing is reasonable and fair. $15-20 per head.
Sarah Shepherd
One of my favourite restaurants EVER. The labneh is amaaazing, lamb kebabs, loubiah beans, and vine leaf rolls are alsoe my favourite. Some of the best food I have had in my whole life, and the owner is so cute because he comes around the tables to check that everyone is happy. To get to a five star from me they would need to use free range chicken :)
Dan W
The decor is unassuming but the food here is delish! I think what stood out the most for me was that the meat was perfectly cooked. Nothing was too tough, but it all had a good colour/char on it. Seasoning was spot on. Also impressed by their flatbread and hommus. This is good Lebanese food. The owner/chef came out to meet us and service was friendly. It's clear they take pride in the food and the result is a good, hearty, Lebanese meal.

Cyprian81
I am not Lebanese but have eaten at many Lebanese restaurants in Sydney, including Jasmin1 in Auburn. These and The Prophet are chalk and cheese.

The meat lacked the charred taste, and the bread and tabouli were lacking for freshness. The baba ganoush was good.
Steven
The Prophet is by a long way, my favourite restaurant in Perth. Jihad and Christian infuse their passion into every dish. Enjoyed in a casual setting, the food is not only tasty but very well priced. This is one I highly recommend!
Mena
We've heard so many great things about The Prophet, and after almost 3 years of living in the area we actually made it here (we've tried maybe 6-8 times before and it's always been full). We ordered the meat and the veg tasting plates (pictured). We didn't realise that there would be a lot of similar things on them or we would have chosen something different for our second dish (we both shared the meals), but overall we were very happy with the meals. I loved the meats, so juicy and flavoursome, particularly the chicken. On the veg plates my favourite was the beans which were 👌. I wasn't a huge fan of the rices, which I thought a little bland, as were a few other things on the veg plate, but there was so much food I could leave the things I didn't love and still walked out so full! The complementary bread and pickles at the start was a nice touch and very yummy, but don't eat too many of them or you won't fit in the enormous meals!
HungryHippo122
A very delicious food experience for those who enjoy middle eastern flavours. The relaxed atmosphere combined with the authentic Lebanese dishes makes for a mouthwatering flavour fiesta. Will definitely return!
Foodgloriousfood
Hands down my favourite restaurant in Perth. I have been countless times and they never disappoint. Meat is always cooked to perfection and their food is always so so tasty. Great value for money.
Julie.ray19123
Perhaps the best middle eastern food in Perth. Simple and small, but you get loads of flavor! They only take cash, so go prepared. BYO is a plus
Shoplots101
Great food, Great Service, Great price and BYO...doesn't get any better than that.

$40 buffet is the sweet spot! Corkage only $1 per person. Heaps of vegetarian options also.
First Last
Beautiful falafels, hummus and bread

The only downsides are that its a cash only place and when its busy (which it always is) its hard to hear what your friends or family are saying!

These are small issues to put up with for sich great food
Lakmonsta
I've waited some time to write this review because I thought you can't nail it every time. But these guys can. The hummus, the falafel, the eggplant, the cauliflower, the list doesn't end. Always fresh, always perfect and always a blissful food coma.
FreeEagle
The names of dishes & drinks are attractive because a bit ingredients are different from other cafés (especially drinks), but the tastes don't quite reach the expectations.
Hzhz
Must make a reservation in advance as the place is usually fully booked out. We tried the tasting plate ($40 each) and basically rolled out of the prophet - satisfied with the generous serving of food! The service was amazing too. I will be back to try the ala carte next time!
Food Lover
Loved the food here. They have lovely vegetarian options. We had the vegetarian dinner for two, which included a variety of dishes, all very tasty and yummy. The quantity was so much, we ended up taking away the leftovers which served us for the next day lunch.
PerthfectBreakfast
So impressed with dinner here last night. I loved the friendly family vibe and the food was delicious. The pricing on the menu on zomato is outdated though.

We started the night with complimentary bread, pickles and garlic dip. We ordered falafels, lamb and chicken kebabs, chicken and rice, fried eggplant with tahini, yoghurt salad and finished off with Lebanese coffee and sweets. All up it was $125 for 4 people. $3 for byo is very reasonable.

The chicken and rice dish is exceptional and I can't wait to eat it again! Meats were so flavourful and tender. The only let down were the falafels. They weren't bad at all but I've had much better.

For desserts we shared Turkish delight, baklava and harissa (buttery semolina cake). They were all delicious in small quantities and great with coffee!
Christine Y
Cosy night out with scrumptious food. Enjoyed the free bread which goes superbly well with hommus. Not a huge fan of their interpretation of tabouleh salad, but overall was a good dining experience.
Benny Leong
Went here last night really early while the restaurant was still empty

The food was great and we loved how we can order just the meat and not the generic sides aswell.

We had shish kebab, shish tawook, kafta, baba ghanoj and vine leaves.

The meats were nicely seasoned amd tender and the baba ghanoj was lovely. However the vine leaves were a bit too sour for my taste. Overall the experience was nice. However the chips and salad kind of felt out of place for the theme of restaurant.

We will be back again to sample a few things but again we will only order meats
Ashley Chapman
Delicious food but they are cash only which was pretty inconvenient. I had the vegetarian platter which was amazing. Would definitely go again
Ruth Elizabeth Turner
The food here is lovely, friendly service the only downside is that it's cash only !
The banquet is a MASSIVE amount of food, Hubby and I where both hungry before hand and walked out stuffed !
The Kebabs where succulent and tasty
Highly recommended and would go again but wouldn't order the banquet again as we only ate about 1/2 of it !

Last night , Tuesday 31st May 2017 , we went to "The Prophet" Restaurant in Victoria Park WA.
It was our first visit there & had been recommended by a Lebanese friend .
The Restaurant was small ,crowded ,noisy, & very smokey .Although we had a booking we were seated next to the kitchen & were very cramped.
The service was very slow & we were very hungry.
The waitress should have told us that the food was mainly "share " dishes .
My chicken & minced lamb dish was very dry. with no sauce
My husband got a small dish of sausages with no vegetables or salad.
The cabbage rolls of our friend were very ordinary.
The lebanese bread was very dry .
Very disappointed ,we refused dessert & coffee & went home for both.
I would never ever go back there & would not recommend this place ,
unless one is a masochist.

I love going to the Prophet for great tasting Lebanese food. I love the way they serve up free bread and garlic dip. The food is always super tasty. A favorite dish of mine is the Apricot Chicken.
Happymuncher
I was in the mood for middle eastern food and decided to dine here due to the positive feedback from friends and on Zomato.

We went with the tasting platter which had a mixture of items on the menu such as hommos, tabouleh and meat skewers. The meat was juicy and tender and the assorted dips took me back to my trip to the Middle East. What I love about this place is the extensive vegetarian options- we had the lentils and rice which was surprisingly delicious for such a simple dish.

I can wait to go back to try the other items on the menu. I would suggest to make a booking as it does get very busy on the weekends. Only downside to this place was the cash only option. Come on who has cash on them nowadays.

All I can say is - go here. Amazing food, it lives up to all the hype. Best to book a table as it's always packed. Guaranteed not to dissapoint, efficient service, beautiful food, the great and simple recipe for a restaurant is in action here.
Bad English
How good is this place??? Get the set menu and you will be happy all night long! Staff and owner very friendly could no fault it for authentic Arabic food!!! Bonus its BYO wine so you need not worry about crappy wine lists!!! Do not pass on the Arabic coffee - you will be buzzing all the way home or to the bars!!!
The Foodie Couple
5 minutes to get a table
5 minutes for bread and entrée
10 minutes for main (recommend the banquet)
Generous serves
Friendly service (top marks for the chef/ owner saying hello to all customer)
Amazing food
We would say book a table as it gets pretty busy!
Simple decor however great atmosphere!!!.
If you are after good food this is a must!!
I've got a lot of love for this place, and been here several times before. My most recent visit was a week ago and it's still just as good. It's clearly a business that has been in the family for many years, and the staff make you feel right at home. The food is very authentic, and I've had most things on the menu and standouts are the shish kebab, falafel, vine leaves and baba ghanouj. I also love that you can byo what you want and the corkage charge isn't ridiculous. Take some time to note the Kahlil Gibran quote on the left wall, the restaurant is named after one of his books (which is a great read too)
Foodieperth
OMG such good food and service! We came here on a Wednesday night and got a table outside. I thought that we wouldn't get good service as we were an outside table, but the service was amazing! We ordered two lamb kofta stick things and eggplant dip. This came with delicious pita. The lamb was so moist, juicy, and full of flavour! The eggplant dip was also bursting with flavour and it was so creamy and smooth! It was such a generous serving too!
LS
Outstanding food! The hummus was incredible, easily the best I have ever tried as it was so creamy and delicious. The falafel was another stand out, so crispy on the outside. The serving sizes were generous and the vegetarian options were endless! Make sure you book ahead and bring cash (the only downside of The Prophet that I can think of!).
Johanna Lawlor
10/10. The food - the garlic dip, the hummus, falafel, eggplant, chef's salad were all absolutely excellent. My boyfriend also had the ladies fingers and chicken skewers and said they were also delicious. Service - also very good. We actually initially ordered the fattoush salad which we found the dressing very strong & they happily gave us the chef's salad without charge! Great food, polite service and lovely atmosphere. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

We had dinner here last night and it was lovely, everything fresh and tasty in a homemade way! Staff were efficient and friendly and portions were large.
The cash only is no problem as there are two ATMs really close by.
Loved the warm pitta, labneh and pickles that were brought to the table after we ordered.
We shared 6 falafels and had a chicken main each - just over $50, really good value. Will visit again.

Absolutely love the food and service here. Been here many times in the past few years but always sure to make a booking, it gets busy every time I have been. Such a variety of Lebanese foods and such a cute place to eat!
Brad Jackson
Awesome Lebanese food! The falafel is great and light. Soft as a pillow inside and nice and crispy outside. Great hommous too. Smooth, light and silky. The lamb lady fingers were incredibly crisp on the outside and moist and tasty inside. The service was a real credit to the restaurant. Quick, polite and accommodating. Thanks guys for a great dinner!

This place is always busy and we've tried before to get a table without a booking without success. So this time we rang ahead for a table for 3. We enjoyed a lovely meal of hummus, falafel, garlic chicken and lamb kibbeh. The food was hot and fresh when it was served and the service was friendly and prompt. The flavours were good and we enjoyed the opportunity to BYO. We had a taste each of Turkish delight, baclava and something else that was delicious. Our only complaint would be no icecream for the teenager when he joined us after his evening out. No photos - sorry.
Martin S.
I've tried very hard to find better Lebanese food in Perth and can't.

Heaters outside would be a nice touch as it can get quite cold.
Frank
My girlfriend decided that she felt like some Lebanese food so chose this restaurant. Small and cosy... I thought the food was just ok. Maybe Lebanese food is just not for me. The flat bread and dips they brought out were nice... but the Spinach Ladies fingers were waaaaaay too oily and I couldn't get through them. Didn't seem seasoned at all or if it was it was lost in the oil and deep fry. What was more puzzling to me was that you could only pay in cash. I am extremely suspicious of any restaurant that takes cash only... as to me it shows their motives for the restaurant are all about maximising profit.. and that usually means at the expensive of delivering highest quality food. I don't think I will be back.
HotChocolat
Perhaps the best Lebanese in Perth! Food is always great, it's busy so book in advance. Ordering is a bit slow but once you order food comes in quick.
Vegetarian
Fabulous vego feast. For once in my life, being vego was an advantage! My friend and I shared the mixed veggie platter and cabbage rolls. Strong, spunky flavours that I couldn't resist nibbling at and I left feeling seriously full, which is rare for me. My meat eating buddies said they had food envy. Winner! Plus BYO, cheap, cheerful and lovely service - I can't wait to return.
NRB
Beautiful food that was well prepared will definitely pop in again and check things out. My only issue in this day and age is that it is cash only.. Ahumdilah.
Shafaq Alwash
One of the best Lebanese restaurants in the Australia everything is perfect even like thr decor cause its too simple you feel tgatvypu sitting in your house & have delicious food ..
Christian Johann
Took the family out for dinner here and was thoroughly impressed. We started off with the complementary Lebanese bread, pickles and labneh, along with their silky smooth hummus and pleasantly smoky baba ganouj (which was good, but needed a little more salt. Our mains were their scrumptious lady fingers, tender perfectly-marinated char-grilled lamb shishkebab and kaftas. We also had the deep-fried aubergine and cauliflower, which were simply to die for.
Our resident food coward ordered a side of chips, which were remarkably good!

Staff were cheerful and friendly, and even helped us take a photo of the occasion.

The only gripe I have is with the cash only billing. Why a restaurant which has been open 15 years into this century does not take card is more than a little perplexing.

Nevertheless, I will be returning, hopefully soon, to sample more of their delights.
Edward
Still cash only and still (perhaps) the best Lebanese food in town. The hummus is super creamy and the baba is smoky without being a caricature. Excellent felafel and kibbeh and tender flavoursome grilled meats. Add the bustle of packed room and the warmth of the service and it's hard not to leave satisfied and reaffirmed.
Maria
Amazing Lebanese food. Not the flashiest place but don't let the drab decor fool you. The eggplant entre is to die for. Large generous portions. Good service as well. Definitely my number 1 go to place for Lebanese food in Perth.
Beeane Loseef
Such a great place, our family have come here for years. The food is always fantastic and the lovely owner always has a big smile and always comes by to ask us how our meal is. The only thing is the waitstaff, they're never usually on the lookout for us when we try grab their attention - it is always straight from a table to the kitchen without looking at anyone else. Takes a long time to get their attention. Howverr, food is always amazing.
David
Best food on the Albany Hwy strip. Best Lebanese food in Perth. Best falafel in Perth.

Good size portions.
Cheap.
Good service.
BYO.
Tasty and hearty.

Make sure you book in advance, especially on Friday and weekends!
Lara Kardia
Came here a few times, food was divine! It is BYO as well. The owner always comes out to say hello and asked how our food was. We ordered the set menu which is really good value for what you get, we always end up taking the leftover home. Booking is essential!
J Smith
Been here a few times now, it's incredibly good value for money especially for groups. We end up getting a mixed meat platter, hummus and baba ghanouj as staples. Everything is so fresh especially the bread and keep room for dessert! Sooo good!
Kellie
We love it here! Tasty, yummy food - too many great dishes to say a favourite! It's not huge so can be hard to book in. The biggest problem is the full, sore belly you leave with!
Teags
Came for dinner last Saturday night. Ordered two tasting plates (one veg one meat) plus two types of skewers, balls and lady fingers . That was plenty for 4 adults. Food has lots of flavour and very fresh. Will return!
Pete Himself
Really nice food from this place. Been trying to get a booking here for ages and finally did last night. Fresh great tasting dips for entree and great meals to share or eat on your own. Their flagship dish appears to be the mixed meat plate, highly recommended. Decent service but more importantly powerful food.
Baz B
The real lack of a viable Lebanese competitor to this place has bred complacency. Our early experiences were fantastic and presented us with real authentic dishes. The food is still good - but is seems the love has faded...

When someone rings up at 9.13 and your opening hours say 9.30, you don't say we won't be taking your order because we are busy! Your opening hours shouldn't be a suggestion.
On another note...get an eftpos machine you dodgy pricks!

Friendly staff, good atmosphere, good food! Everything was packed full of flavour, obvious it's made fresh as it takes a small wait to come out. Very small cafe space though, so make sure to come early or book a table!

Seeing the other ratings and reviews, it's hard to believe we had dinner at the same restaurant. The falafel was heavy and soggy, the salad was a few pitiful chunks of lettuce and tomato, and the bread was dry. The shish tawook was a few dry and flavourless pieces of chicken. The best thing were the vine leaves, which were delicious. The service was terrible, we had to ask several times for more water. We won't be back.

The staff here are really friendly and helpful and are able to give really great recommendations. They started clearing our table a little early though... I think there were a lot of staff for the small amount of customers so they had nothing else to do except clear our table. Complimentary bread basket is a great idea! The menu caters well to meat eaters, but didn't have any standout salad options which is a shame. The falafel is amazing, so is the halva: highly recommended! The baked kibbeh and ladies fingers were very mincey, which isn't quite what we expected, but are tasty nonetheless. The salad served with the mains is pretty boring and takes up quite a large portion of the plate.

The Prophet Lebanese Cafe is one of my favourite restaurants in East Victoria Park. This is the perfect place to go with a big group of people as the food is easy to share, you get to taste a wide variety of different dishes and it’s BYO! The waitstaff are very friendly (and patient) and I always leave here feeling like it was a delicious and authentic experience. Must orders are the tabouli, falafels, lamb kebabs (the individual kebabs not the set meal with chips), lentils and rice and the fattoush (salad with fried bread). Bookings are essential for the weekend

One of my favorite middle eastern resturants, food is delicious, customer service is great. Wide range of food, specially if you are vegetarian. Friendly owners, highly recommended

The Prophet is a rather unassuming little place, with a very small outdoor area and room for a few more inside, seated on plain tables in front of the small kitchen. But don’t let appearances deceive you, there is some serious magic that happens inside this place. We eventually a ordered a vegetarian and meat mixed platter, along with the ladies fingers (minced lamb and pine nuts in filo pastry) and falafel balls. It was less than what we originally wanted to order thanks to our enthusiasm being reigned in by the waitress, but still too much in the end. Although, to this day I am still a bit sad that we didn’t try the arnabeet (deep fried cauliflower) – but I’ll just have to go back!

Good wholesome food. Always reliable. Friendly unintrusive service and well-priced. Always busy and has a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommended.
What a great restaurant that serves amazing Lebanese food! Great service and lovely little restaurant that really stands out amongst the crowds at Vic Park dining scene. We don't have a lot of Lebanese restaurant in Perth so I'm very glad that this restaurant is open and very close to my home too. The food was great bursting with flavours and it doesn't cost much either. Everything was cooked to perfection and each dish came with fresh simple salad which balanced everything out perfectly. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful in recommending and explaining the dish. The restaurant is small but very welcoming and cosy with great vibes. There were 7 of us and we ordered 8 dishes + 1 complimentary dish which was gherkins with cream cheese. Their coffee smelled very fragrant too but to me personally, I think it's best to share between 3 ppl cos it comes in a pot and is very very strong (pure black coffee) so it's not very good to drink more than 1 cup at night...unless you plan to stay awake whole night. And also it got very bitter right at the end cos the grounded coffee was at the bottom. Lastly, this place is a dog-friendly place as well for those with vision disabilities. One of us was visually impaired and the dog was allowed inside sitting beside the owner. So overall, I was really satisfied with everything.

Vegetarian cuisine is delicious here. I ordered the hommus, a coliflour dish, a cabbage wrap dish and deep fried falafel. I was very impressed. Service was a bit awkward but they were very polite.

Such nice food, great place to eat and BYO. We shared a meat platter which was nice and tried our friends satay chicken which was amazing and will definitely be going back for!

I honestly love this place!! Thanks so much guys for always being generous on your portions and always offering such friendly service. Love the fact it's BYO and the banquet's are the best value for money.

If you haven't tried this place - you MUST! The food is full of flavour!

Please don't change a thing! :)

Such amazing simple food :-) The only problem was I literally wanted to try everything on the menu! It was such a nice little place with super friendly staff. Will definitely recommend and revisit!
Eight Seconds Of Food
Still one of my favourites for Lebanese in Perth - Generous serving sizes and good value for money.

Started off with the hommos and baba ghanouj dips which were fresh and flavoursome. The falafels were outstanding and are highly recommended.
I had the tasting plate for my main which is a great choice if you want to try a bit of everything. Was too full to try any desserts after the main!

Service is top notch - The owner came over to see how things were and had a chat.

Best to book in advance as the place very popular and isn't that big in size.

Went there after finally getting a reservation! Totally understand why it's always fully booked! Delicious food and very friendly service! We had the meat banquet - best lamb kebab I've had at a restaurant in Perth! Will definitely return

Absolutely amazing. Went last night, had the $40 vegetarian banquet and had to take food home as I couldn't even start on the rice and lentil or beans we were so full. I left with a better food coma then Christmas. Eye-rolling back foodgasms.

The falafel, hummus, and especially the spinach and walnut lady fingers were phenomenal.
And HOW the heck do they make eggplant taste so incredible!!!!!!
Even the tabouleh- so simple but the flavours were so beautiful- you can definitely tell one of their secrets is the highest quality ingredients.

I'm going back again tonight for my dads birthday

Average (maybe a bit overrated actually). Nice food but nothing exceptional. Service is friendly, fast and accommodating. Baklava wasn't world class as I'd expected from some reviews, which was a little bit disappointing to be honest.

Note for coeliacs: while the Prophet says on its takeaway menu that it can cater to coeliacs, the staff's knowledge of cross-contamination is non-existent. Also much of the stuff asterisked on the menu as being gluten free is not so, as it's either fried in contaminated oil (eg the chips) or contains wheat (eg the tabouleh; and the chicken skewer which is made using malt vinegar). We only discovered all this by asking a million questions upfront.

All up, $80 for 5 of us was good value but nothing we couldn't get at a handful of other Lebanese cafes across town. Parking is easy. ATM next door and across the road (cafe is cash only).

Perfection.. If you are lucky enough to get a seat.. Allow yourself to be transported on a journey of amazing flavours. Spot on. Can't wait to go back. Ponderingperthgirl blog is offensive, I hope you banned her from returning.

Delicious vegetarian options, great value. This place has been around for many years and is always busy. Its easy to see why it has such a good reputation. The service was great, the prices were very reasonable, and the food was just delicious. With so many vegetarian and vegan options to chose from, we'll definitely be back.

Hands down the best Satay chicken in Perth. And for such a good price!

Love, love, love The Prophet! My only complaint is that it's so hard to get a booking! We generally order the Banquet and always have more food than we can finish (and we're big eaters). Service is always excellent.

Ok, not amazing. I'm not sure if it's just I don't like Lebanese food, or if this place is just overrated, but I wasn't over the moon about the banquet. Everything was fairly average. The bread especially tasted store bought. Won't be back.

First time visit with a group of 6 freinds. The food was good and the service efficient and freindly. The falafel was ok and the variety of dishes we ordered for mains past the general test of being tasty without being wow. The noise level inside the cafe however made it very hard to carry out a conversation. Its a place to eat and then go somewhere for a coffee so you can have a conversation as we did. This could easily be fixed with sound dampening on one wall. 6.5/10

Simply delicious. Visited The Prophet again after about 4 years, and was thrilled to find that the food is just as fabulous as it ever was.

In our group of 4, we shared pita breads, hummus, lady fingers (vegetarian with spinach and pine nuts), and falafel. Wow; simple but outstanding. The falafel is probably the best I've ever had anywhere, being moist and flavourful and topped with a creamy sauce. The lady fingers I hadn't tried before, and were fried pastries packed full of yummy goodness. The hummus was creamy and sinfully moreish.

I love that you are served a plate of pickled veggies and a basket of pita bread straight up. The food here is simple, cheap and made with love. The family who runs The Prophet hasn't changed anything much over the years, and why would they? The place is always booked out, and you know exactly what you can expect from a meal there. If you are new to the place and the food served there, the staff will make helpful suggestions to give you a good intro to the world of Lebanese food. A young couple I know went for the first time last month, and were delighted with the suggestions made.
Make sure you book though - don't just turn up expecting to get a table or you will likely be disappointed, even during the week.

Always Fantastic food!. We love this place, its across town from us so we don't get to go as often as we like. We have had a few staff parties here and family functions when we can and everyone always loves the authentic food. We love the deep fried eggplant and cauliflower and the minced lamb/hummus dish. Tabouli and fattoush salad is divine too. People choose to order their meal with chips but the rice is much better. Book ahead as this place is always busy even on week nights. Mmm writing this makes me want to go tonight!

Pretty average. Went to The Prophet for dinner last night and have to say it was pretty average. I had the Baked Kibbeh (minced lamb with pine nuts and onioin) which was tasty but the salad which accompanied it was quie average - few lettuce leaves and tomatoes. Friends had the chicken skewers and chilli fish dishes, which were served with a side of fries which I found an extremely odd side dish. Chicken skewers, though sounded interesting on the menu, were bland and dry.

Service was good, and falafel's were good.

In summary would hesitate to go back again.

Go the banquet. Amazing food
Fresh and authentic really good

Delicious food. I had been waiting to try this place for a while. The food was delicious (I recommend the falafels) and servings were enormous. Staff were very friendly and took the time to explain the menu so that we didn't over-order. The restaurant itself is quite small so you will likely be bumping chairs with the person behind you. But don't let that take away from the great food. Make sure you call well in advance for a booking.

A different new experience. Try this place for a change. and found that it is really nice... my Mum who is visiting enjoyed our dinner.. will visit again next time..

Disappointed. I was really much looking forward to this restaurant as the reviews were so high. But was sadly disappointed. The service was very very slow. We had to wait an hour for our meal which was very basic. The sausages tasted nice and the kibbeh, but the plating looked like a home meal prepared by a bachelor. Sad to say that I make a better hommus and the baklava and the tabbouleh served was missing ingredients, there was no crushed wheat so it was a mouthful of parsley. Basically I won't be wasting my time to go back again unless they put some pride and effort into there service and meals.
