Foods look great.
Staffs working very hard. Friendly and good service.
Lacking is taste. Otherwise 5 stars. Steamed dumplings texture not the best. Should have a little bouncing chew in your mouth. Need to work on better supplier.
Lots of space, very comfortable.
Thanks, guys
Best sushi train in Perth. Also offer range of asian style dishes. Love the Karagi chicken, teriyaki chicken and assorted range of California rolls. They welcome BYO and offer good service. Always priced well and clean to boot.
Great place my kids love the sushi train and my wife and I really enjoyed the laksa. Service is always good and friendly and very affordable.
Tao cafe is a great sushi train chain resteraunt. The staff at the Vic park outlet are welcoming, attentive and friendly. They went above and beyond to make sure my friend, baby and i were comfortable in a quiet little corner so bub could sleep. Anything off the menu is worth the wait! Katsu chicken, salt and pepper veggies, and pho are perfect every time and a hearty, delicious meal if your not feeling the sushi train. Will be back.
I first found tao when I moved to Perth 5 years ago since then I go at least once a month, they have a huge sushi train with lots of choices and everytime we go there more and more options are added. They also have a huge menu with other options if you don't want to eat off the sushi train. They have also added alcohol to the restaurant which is a great addition
Been to Tao twice. Our first visit was lovely as it wasn't filled with customers and we easily got seats at the sushi train. The food was good, loved how they also had desserts on the sushi train but the major let down was they didn't have many choices of dumplings or a lot of steamed food. I do recommend trying TAO cafe out and there desserts too!!
From the outside Tao looks super generic and possibly tepid but you're pleasantly surprised once you try, well, all the options. A couple of favourites are the pho and the good old sushi train. The service is fast and efficient.
Pretty good food train can't complain there. Had the soup and wasnt much flavour. My girlfriend had won ton soup and was average too but the won tons were nice. Just a shame when you come in when its quiet the food that is supposed to be hot stays on the train to get cold.
Fun, casual dining - sushi train with tasty fusion Asian food treats. Some interesting varieties of fusion sushi that we haven't come across elsewhere. Good value for money.
After walking up and down the Albany Hwy strip, we stopped in at Tao on our third pass through, so pleased we did. Was just me and the 11yr old, we ordered teriyaki chicken I had teriyaki beef and we shared tempura vegetables, all tasty and filling. Love that we can order off menu and use the sushi train. We had macaroons for sweets, these were perfectly flavoured. Cannot wait to go again. Was about $55 for the 2 of us. Only improvement could be on the service, waited a while to be noticed that we needed our plate counted so we could pay.
My fam loves the sushi train, fun for the kids and they have quite a lot of offerings on the viet menu. We like that we can order different cuisines jap, viet or thai at the one restaurent. Their deserts look off-putting though, so we just skip the sweets and go next door to san churros.
I've been here a few times and i'm always happy and satisfied after. I like how you can order from the menu and grab stuff from the train too. The food is always good and I've never had any problems. The octopus balls are one of my favorite dishes and recommend you try it if you go.
Tao is my go to place, it's always reliable, big range of food to pick from. I would highly recommend the pineapple friend rice with chicken and the Thai green chicken curry. It's also BYO!! This place won't disappoint.
I dropped in here with a friend because Imp Cafe across the road was full and we wanted somewhere quiet to talk.
The place lacks atmosphere and served an average coffee. Actually the girl got my order wrong but I couldn't be bothered mentioning it so just suffered in silence!
I won't be rushing back.
Took a mate out for some sushi and decided to try out tao as we'd both never been there before. Showed up around 1:30pm and easily got a table along the train. An upside to the layout is you can order off a set menu and take things from the train. I had the squid, two types of chicken sushi, beef, crumbed prawns and the marshmallow brownie. Everything was great tasting! Only issue is you get excited for food and keep grabbing more plates which ends up being a decent little bill, paid around $35 each. Will be back again
Compared to Zensaki or Jaws, the sushi train are about $2 more expensive per plate at Tao. Rice in the sushi are a bit soggy/mushy. Fried items on the sushi train have gone cold and not crispy anymore, wonder if it can be cook to order... The restaurant is very spacious. We nearly got charged $2 extra for the 2 slices of cake to take away, luckily I questioned them.
Fantastic place to pop into for a quick refill when you're in-between lunch and dinner. The sushi rolls were super fresh and much better for me than a piece of carrot cake. My total bill for three plates and a pot of tea was $15 which is about the same as a coffee and carrot cake. I'll definitely be considering this option again.
We've dined here quite s few times. We've only ever had the sushi train though (I hear the main menu rocks and I'll try that next time). Sushi train is hit and miss. If you get there before 7:30pm there's lots of options and everything is fresher. After that time the options dwindle dramatically and they don't seem to put more food out. It's a cheap place to eat though, with good service.
Update, today we combined sushi train with the teriyaki chicken from main menu. My verdict: good but not great. Fast and friendly service is always a plus.
Tried the Bun Bo Hue which I had never had before and thought it was a cross between a laksa and Pho. But it was really hard to choose a dish because of the diversity of the menu.
I thought the staff friendly and I liked how it wasn't too noisy but it might not be on a Friday night.
Tao is now the place me and my friends always want to go for our weekly dine out dinner.
So much variety, quick service, yummy yummy!
Thai green curry is to die for, just a tad spicy 🔥
The most thing i like in this restaurant is the sushi train. They had quite a lot sushi variety. And I always love sushi. The other menu that i try is chicken cashew. It's really nice. My boys ordered fish and chips which are standard. Love the place, it's family friendly.
I have been to Tao Victoria Park, many times. It is good for a quick feed, as the sushi train is always loaded with tasty things, so you can get straight into them. Even when ordering from the menu, the food arrive quickly. The only thing to note is that the table have this funnily sticky feel about them, that I think might be attributed to the coating on the actual table, rather than anything being left on the table from cleaning. Â
The food is always presented nicely and is tasty. Â They have a quick turnover of tables so there is always seat available or within a couple of minutes. Â Larger groups (larger than 4) would be better booking ahead of time.
I love this place. I love being able to go with my friends and each of us choose a different type of meal. That way I can eat from the sushi train and experience no guilt! The ordered meals I've had have also been very good. It's a great option for a consistent good fusion meal.
Bahweep Granahweep Ninnybong
+4.5
really enjoy the pho (ga!)! however some other main dishes were not to my taste. i enjoy the pho so always return. great friendly an efficient staff, even when its mostly busy YMMV
 Â
sushi train meal (coloured platters ranging in price) are decent and of a wide variety, Â but can get expensive if hungry and care-free... enjoy watching the chefs prep them.
I would recommend their Tao laksa with seafood, very special laksa that not found in other places. Try their popcorn prawn as well, it's worth to try.
One of my favourite place to eat at the moment. We have been walking in without bookings and the staff have been really friendly showing us to our seats promptly. Fast and lovely service. I love the fresh sushi train (recommend going at lunch or dinner time for faster food turnover) and the option of ordering other meals. Always a pleasure.
Lovely atmosphere and decor, awesome train that's always a good draw and the food is presented very well. The Poh is fresh and I personally always get the rest from the train as it catches my eye.. The train is better stocked at busier times and days and when it's quiet the variety drops a bit. Then it pays to order what's not running on the line. Been here a few times and remain overall impressed.
Always fresh and such a great variety! Never been disappointed yet. Have taken my parents who don't eat Japanese here and they have both enjoyed it. My mother requesting return visits on a couple of occasions.
Not only did I find the food from the sushi train mouth-watering, delicious, and fresh, the coffee was superb too! If you come here, I highly recommend getting one of those fantastic macaroon cakes. They are stuffed with mousse and other sugar-filled yumminess!
I also recommend the octopus balls (I don't know the proper name!) and the fried crab claws. The service was great; we got our drinks and water for the table with no problems and the staff were happy and friendly.
I highly recommend Tao Cafe and would love to return! Also, I love the lights in there :)
Great for a late night dinner, love the train and have also ordered off the menu. Great to duck next door for tuti fruity for dessert - best frozen yogurt
Nice open floor plan and friendly staff. Very reasonably priced food which looks and tastes great! Sushi is so fresh and has a great range! We spent $41.50 for 2 people to eat our full on the sushi train with hot green tea. Definitely recommend!
Good food great choice off the menu. Good prices. Love this place for lunch.
Pleasant atmosphere.
Cheap and yummy!. Super cheap food that's actually really nice. The staff seem a bit inexperienced, but all in all, it's pretty good.
Go to place for an intimate meal. Great place to go for an intimate afternoon meal. The service is always friendly, sushi is nice, opening hours are excellent, booths are comfy, and the pho is quite generous for the price. Tao is our go to place.
Lovely coffee, beautiful place, longest sushi train, terrific decore, friendly service. Well done !!
Great, Cheap Japanese. Great sushi train, the menus are hit and miss but 90% of the time I've really enjoyed the food.
Love the sushi train. We love the sushi train and we have always come back for it.
It has definitely improved in the last year with better varieties on the sushi train and large chunks of raw tuna and salmon in the sushi.
I've tried the tempura set and it was not as good, the tempura batter was a bit thick. Nevertheless we will be back for the sushi train!
Also the staff have always been lovely and friendly to us!
Best Sushi in Perth. I cannot fault Tao Cafe! I regularly purchase sushi off the sushi train and am never disappointed. The variety is great and changes from day to day which means I am not stuck with the same choices every visit. The sashimi in particular is fresh and delicious.
I am always welcomed by staff with a big smile and friendly attitude.
You have to try Tao Cafe - you won't be disappointed.
Went Sunday evening with 3 kids. Sat in the sushi train and we were very impressed with the variety and the freshness. All so excellent. We have eaten at sushi wawa and the trains at Westfield carousel recently and this was better sushi. Service was great and vey family friendly.
Great food, really nice and fresh, love this place!!
GOOD FOOD, average pricing and the sushi train was hmmm.. The vietnamese food and the curry here is great! The coconut drinks here are a good idea and were fresh ONLY the first time we went. The sushi train, was interesting? sometimes the sushi didn't taste nice at all. Otherwise the food and service was good!
Loved it!. I came here with a group of about 30 - they catered to us quickly and there were no mix ups.
I tried the drunken noodles, chilli fish, thai green curry and the vegetable spring rolls - all were perfect and I will be coming back here for sure!
Excellent variety of food. Our favourite was the sushi train. So many beautiful creations ready to gobbled up.
Salmon nigiri, tuna rolls, chicken katsu sushi and many more.
Lots of other dishes available from laksa, fried rice to western food. Great place to meet friends as so many different cuisine options are accessible.
Minh was the perfect host, greeting us when we entered and guiding us to a nice table to enjoy the amazing delicacies on offer on the sushi train. Everything we selected was full of flavor. Also has pickled radish on offer on the table to refresh the taste buds for the next dish.
For desert it is best to choose from the delicious items on offer in the cabinet.
I come here regularly for lunch as my work is around the corner. The staff are always lovely, and abide by the COVID protocols in place.
The food has always been amazing, and the service is great! It’s not a bad idea to come here for an early or a late lunch, as I’ve found 12-2 can be quite busy some days!
Went to the Melville Tao Cafe on the 2 May and that was 5 stars. Boy was that really good sushi and a lot of different variety. Went to the Victoria Park one today and the sushi variety was a lot less and had to order from the menu as the ones that I did like never went on the sushi train. Plus the sushi rice was not made perfectly.
Maybe be best to stick with the Melville store as had a better experience there then the Vic Park store.
Almost more lollies than sushi, it's a bit pricey. And the sushi range seems somewhat limited. But overall it was a clean place to eat with excellent service. The staff were very helpful. And made paying for the meal quick and easy. The kids enjoyed it.
