Came here on a Monday afternoon for lunch and it was pretty quiet, I like it quiet it’s good for conversations. We had roasted pumpkin salad and chicken bowl. The chicken was really tender and the chimichurri sauce was perfect. Portion size is quite big, there was loads of chicken in the bowl and I had to share it with my daughter. Just wish they didn’t bring us the bill, it felt like they wanted us to leave so they can close early.
Looks so great inside post renovations! Staff were super friendly, menu is extensive with something for everyone. Croquettes were epic - so much flavour! Avo on toast also really good - so much avo!
Staff are friendly and kind! The price are reasonable for the quality of the food. I ordered something with mushrooms in it and staff were nice and replaced it with cucumbers for me. Had a nice experience 💓

We are here last weekend. The place has totally changed since my last review (more about that later). It looks different and the service is 1000 fold better. We had share plates including a really divine warm brie drizzled in honey and topped with walnuts. The meatballs were melt in your mouth and the pumpkin salad was so fresh and tasty. The chef is a Brazilian lady and the food reflects a feminine approach, in taste, textures and presentation. Make sure you order dessert. I had the key lime panacotta and wasn’t sorry. The passion fruit mousse was also delish. The staff applied the full 25% discount from the entertainment book, making out dinner affordable and good value.

It’s changed completely ... June 2016 - Master 12 was chained to the library computer to catch up on outstanding homework so we headed for coffee and something sweet. Saturday morning so everywhere in EVP was full including 868. The place is big though so no one misses out. The coffee was really good and the caramel slice was delicious. My only criticism would be that the service was a little slow. Otherwise, I think we enjoyed that time more than Master 12 did!
Fantastic cafe - spacious, bright, elegant look. Staff are very friendly and fun. Some interesting items on the menu. The French Toast was very good.
There's not much that I can say, other than I really liked the quietness of the café - we were there from 10am-11.30am and the friendliness of the staff. It's in the Entertainment Book so that's a nice bonus.
Great to sit in the windows and watch the people go by. Fantastic staff and really potent expresso martini's. We stopped in for dessert and were very happy with the Lime Pannacotta.
What was once a simple cafe has been transformed into something terrific. What's not to love about refreshing fruity Sangria, delicious well cooked food (try the beef!) and a short but smart wine list? Throw in great service and you have a real winner. We'll be back.
The word restaurant is related to ‘restore’ and 868 is a place which restores your faith in the world. Service from our Venezuelan waiter was friendly, informed and very professional - he made our night. The sangria made by our waiter was wonderfully dry and beautifully balanced by the fruit - a must have. The food is tapas style and we shared tasty manchego and leek croquettes, a nutty and generous pumpkin and quinoa salad and the perfectly cooked and sliced rump steak. Having started with generous serve of cassava chips and aioli, a small salad was generously provided instead of the truffle fries. Sunken (deliberately) chocolate soufflé was a shared ending to a sweet experience. Wine list is short and on point - Rioja drank well with the tapas and PX with dessert. 868 is offering something different to the strip not least that often missed true generosity of spirit and care.
I thought this place was fantastic. Menu is different keeping the eating experience unique. They can get busy over the weekend so get in early.
Had brunch here just this afternoon and the newly decorated place is looking good. The coffees are good and fresh juice is refreshing for a hot day. The corn fritters are nice and refreshing. On another hand, croque madame is very tasty and we love it even though it was quite a big serve but we couldn’t stop eating. Would love to try other menu they have next time.
Not a bad little Italian gourmet food cafe. They serve continental rolls as well as lunch and breakfast. They also do a decent coffee. I don't like the table and chairs and decor as it's kind of harsh and uncomfortable.
Top location and fresh food. I like the big breakfast served by friendly staff. On a lucky day you may even be able to try the flaky Palmier pastry if you're quick enough. The cappucinos were perfect.
Came here for the brunch and it was nice. I ordered the chicken burger which was full of flavored and cooked well. The relish and portion of salad was generous and to my delight I would rate it a 7/10. It was nicely complimented with the sweet potato chips however maybe a little more crispier would be nicer.
Overall it's not a wow place for me. It's more of a "meh, I'll come here if I'm around the corner or not sure where to eat".
Was better when the old staff (mama's, zia's etc) worked there however rolls still taste pretty good even though the buns have changed. Staff aren't a patch on the old ones and have often got orders wrong (+ take about 10 mins longer due to slowness). Keep coming back for the good quality tomatoes but not as often as I used to.
The service at 868 Gourmet is always fantastic. I very much enjoy the sandwich bar because it has great portions and a variety of options. My go to sandwich is the roast chicken or avocado and goat cheese. Simply delicious!
Number one stop in vic park for coffee. The staff are always so pleasant. Fresh sandwiches and rolls made to order and the muffins are to die for!
This is the second time I've been to 868 for a meal, and I've been many times for coffee. The service has always been great, with friendly staff and a meal in front of you pretty quickly. The first time I had the vego brekky which was pretty good, but the whites of the egg were a bit runny. This time I had the soft boiled eggs with toast sticks and spicy tomato chutney. A twist on the childhood favourite 'eggy and soldiers'. Dipping my soldiers in googy egg yolk was definitely a blast from my 80s past! Egg was cooked perfectly and crunchy toast with a delicious chutney. At $12.50 I thought it was good value too. I also recommend the coffee.
Stopped by this morning for lunch with three of my friends, the jerk chicken burger and sweet potato fries was probably the best dish I've had in Australia, and the ladies that made my thickshake (which was definitely the best I've had in Australia) kindly split it between two glasses for my friend and I to share. Incredibly friendly service and delicious filling fresh food.
Popped in for a t/a coffee and sandwich. I can not rave about the sandwich enough!!! Chose your own bread/fillings and it's made fresh in front of you. I chose the rye bread, it was that fresh it stuck to the paper it was wrapped in! Love a good sandwich but they seem hard to find. Will return weekly!
Well appearances deceive this place might need a lick of paint and a pressure wash of the floor tiles BUT. A beautiful coffee and a great bite of breakfast was consumed. I'd be coming back even for a fresh takeaway of coffee and cake they look amazing. Good job guys.
No fancy decor (at all!). But the mushroom bruschetta and antipasto platter are to die for. Yummy and well priced. Coffee was also nice and hot! Will be back.
868 IS GREAT. Though it may have simple decor, the coffee is top notch, the food is great and the staff pleasant. This would be one of my favourite and best value places for lunch on the Vic Park strip.

Great coffee.. not so great service anymore. I used to come here so so often, my dad and I would talk business and usually have a couple of coffees each! The coffee is great.. and still is, don't get me wrong. I will continue to come here for the coffee. I have never tried the food though, but the made to order sandwiches look so fresh and delicious.
My issue here is some of the newer staff... extremely slow to make orders and gossiping about customers - this is just wrong, you are literally standing right in front me and you don't think I can hear you??

Nice sanwiches and friendly service. We dropped by here for lunch on Saturday. We ordered 868 Burger with garden salad ans Beef Burger with Chips. Our order was served within 15 mins. While waiting for our order to arrive, we notice the service never stops. There are always new customers coming in for coffee, dine in and take away sanwiches. This is a place for a quick bite.

Brilliant!. Great little place, great atmosphere, terrific coffees, brilliant breakfasts, sumptuous rolls and sandwiches. Some of the friendliest staff you will ever encounter. Great spot for families, kids, even the dog at a table outside. Best little breakfast, lunch, coffee spot in Vic Park, hands down.
Great coffee, fantastic service.. Like all the previous comments, I found the coffee to be one of the best. Talking to the waitress, we found that brazilliano actually makes a special blend for 868 gourmet. Indeed, the service was fantastic. Could tell they are a tight knit Italian community.
Had the chicken schnitzel burger and chips at 9.30am... But alas, the chip fryer isn't turned on until 10am. The waitress kindly offered me an arancini instead which tasted slightly bland, but was still edible.
The burger itself was fresh and lovely.
Head over heels still thinking about how fantastic the coffee was.
Best In Vic park. It has been 2 years that I have been going to 868 Gourmet. Lately, I have been having a full breakfast and a couple of coffees every day. The food is always excellent and the coffee superb. A friendlier more capable staff doesn't exist.
I doubt you will find better in Perth!
Was Good but could be so much more!! Had a chicken schnitzel & salad roll.......... More of a shaved chicken slice which was crumbed than a schnitzel. Talk about cutting corners! They must get at least 4 schnitzel's from 1 chicken breast. Couldn't complain about the rest tho. Good coffee, nice looking slices & cakes. Could be awesome but ......not
Yum yum yum. I have been going to 868 for over 6 years. It has never let me down. Gorgeous antipasto selections made into delicious sandwiches, panninis and foccacia.
Coffees are also always good and it's lovely to have staff remember my name. A Vic Park staple for brekkie and lunch... looking forward to the next 6!!
Get there early for lunch! Really enjoyed the antipasto plate and coffee is getting better now that they have a new Barrister. Don't let the girls make you a coffee.
After reading reviews I thought I would give the coffee a go. Being a bit of a coffee snob, I didn't set my expectations too high so I was blown away with how good the coffee is! I went back for another one on my way home! The staff were very friendly and helpful as well. I will most definitely be going back!
First class coffee. Great place for a high class coffee or lunch. Everything is fresh and the staff are great.

Good quality food. Went on the weekend and spilt a chicken schnitzel sandwich with avocado and a lasagne with my partner, with a chocolate cake and vanilla slice for desert.
Cafe was nice and clean, with a great looking selection of food and cakes as well as gourmet items for sale. Sandwich was good, made with nice bread. My partner thought the lasagne could have a had a little more filling but it was still very yummy.
Both desserts were good although the chocolate cake was a little dry - might give it a miss next time in favour of one of the numerous other delicious looking items on display.
Would recommend for lunch, and I'd love to go back for coffee and another cake.
Delish. It's not fancy, but the food and coffee is delicious - great breakfasts and it's worth visiting just for the continental rolls alone!

Gourmet 868 is a petite italian cafe peddling the ideal work lunch - continental rolls and strong coffee. =) Perfect when lunch a little more special than Subway is needed to perk up the working day. Every lovingly made coffee comes with a ciao and wink!
Nice and quiet environment, very good for meeting friends and talking from deep hearts. Nice wine selection although the wine list isn't large. Food is amazing. The salmon tartare was out of my expectation. Tapas is always my thing as I like to try different dishes in one go. I will definitely go back with more friends to try more dishes.

Good food but not super pretentious. They do cater to health woo enthusiasts a little bit by offering a lot of gluten free etc but they have plenty of options. They make a pretty good sandwich and the cold brew coffee is decent too.
We all should be spontaneous at times, but your morning coffee can't be hit and miss.
This is why 868 is my go to for coffee. Consistant quality in food and beverages is what makes 868 stand out from the rest. As to the customer service. Well it's either fantastic management creating such great customer service and a great work environment. OR it's I'm just a really likeable person and that's why they are all so genuinely friendly to me, let's call it 50/50
I come here min 3-5 times a week for the best iced coffee in victoria park (i have tried most places... So i stand by my 'best coffee' statement.)

Food is mintox and customer service is great.
There has been a refurbishment since my last visit. The seating is comfortable. The decor is mainly dark browns, good for a more intimate meal in relative peace and quiet. Standard Vic Park pricing.
First visit and will definitely be back. Amazing, friendly staff, great drink range and absolutely delicious food. If you get a chance to go to one of their quiz nights you should!
