Restaurant was clean and pleasant. Staff were friendly and efficient. We came here for dinner and ordered; nasi lemak with fried chicken, mee rebus, roti canai, ice terik and ice kachang.
Nasi lemak : chicken was very tastey, rice was fragrant and not too dry, the sambal chilli was good but could be spicier. Could do with thicker cut cucumber. The fried ikambili and peanut was so so.
Mee rebus was good and tasted authentic. Serving size was a bit small.
Roti was thin and crispy. They ran out of chicken curry and was given chicken rendang instead. Was ok but again could be spicier.
Ice teh terik was decent. A bit too sweet and didn't have enough of that tea flavour.
Ice kachang I didnt enjoy. Ice was too chunky and not that snow like consistency. The toppings were not very good either. But for $4.50 couldn't ask for too much.
Overall good value for money food in a clean and friendly environment :) would come back again.
Good food, enjoy the laksa and curry chicken. The laksa is the best I've had in Perth and the curry chicken is nice and mild, not too spicy. Would recommend this restauraunt, service is average however (its a hawker so don't expect much).
Bargain!! $8 weekend breakfasts here from 9am Saturday and Sunday with about 5 choices including mee goreng, bi hoon, roti and nasi lemak. Also included is a small tea tarik.
I used their delivery service for my order of Beef rendang and the Seafood tofu. Both were quite average. I should've read reviews first before ordering the rendang 😔. I might go back and try other dishes.
We have been a loyal customer here. We have sampled their food over 3 years consistently.
Tahu telor is always lovely, salted egg fried chicken is so yum, mee goreng and hor fun are always satisfying. Service is always so friendly too!
T8wy June 2016:
1. Beef Rendang. 3.5/5.0. Nice-ish Malaysian Rendang. Not coming back for this dish in the future, as there are better rendang in the area.
2. Nasi Lemak with Chicken Curry. 4/5. Good dish, liked the flavour of the coconut rice. The chicken curry is nice too, albeit not spicy.
3. Penang Rojak. 3/5. OK. The taste is different to what I expected. Not coming back for this dish.
When we arrived the restaurant was fairly full but we managed to squeeze in. My first thought was "great we have a seat now we have to wait for ages!" We ordered black pepper beef, Penang rojak, tahu telur, egg yolk chicken and Penang laksa. I was surprised when the first dish arrived 15 mins later and the rest soon after.
Surely this was a rushed job and can't be nice. I was wrong! The beef could have been more tender but the rest of the dishes were yummy.
The ambience is adequate for the level.
Prices are reasonable.
Service could have been better as one of my dinner companions ordered a side of sambal belachan that never arrived.
In my opinion the overall the balance was spot on. I'll be back there.
Lovely way to end a tough long week!
The food here is not the best but if you're looking for a decent place that isn't too crowded to go for dinner on a Friday night, and serves decent Malaysian asian style food, this place works. Try the spring rolls , honey Orange chicken, and special telur toufu. They're all very flavoursome
Authentic Nonya food with friendly but unimposing service.
We were the only 'ang mo' in the restaurant which in my opinion is always a good sign that the food will be tasty and authentic.
We had the beef rendang, which is always my test of a restaurant. I'm happy to say that it passed. Lots of lemongrass and a solid kick of chilli which I quite enjoyed, being the chilli addict that I am. The fragrant coconut rice was a beautiful accompaniment to this dish.
The salted fried chicken was sweet and salty and quite tasty, though I don't know if I'd order it a second time as it wasn't quite to my taste.
All in all, a very respectable midweek dinner that I will certainly return to.
Ok food; Decently priced. Visited this place on 9th Jan for dinner.
Ordered Roti Chanai ($5.50) for entree which was good. Chicken pieces in the chanai curry were soft and well cooked. Curry was nice and mild. Roti was made fresh and didn't appear from a frozen pack.
Jasmine tea was ok.
Ordered Penang Kway Teow for my partner and Assam Gulai Fish with Coconut rice for me.
Kyaw Teow was reasonably priced at $9.50 and quantity was good too with a couple of prawns and fishcake. Sambal chilli was too spicy, the way it should be!
Assam Gulai Fish (Fish curry with Okra & Tomato) had only 2 okra fingers. But curry was well spiced. It tasted good with coconut rice.
For some reason, I suffered diarrhoea the next day. May be I am allergic to sambal sauce or malay curries or may be I had a bug already,
Overall, $39.90 for a sumptuous dinner for two with takeaway fish & rice.
One of my favourite asian restaurants in perth..food is fresh, tasty and portion is big!!
Nice dishes throughout. The satay is not as authentic. Satay sauce tasted like curry paste instead of peanut sauce.
Cheap food. Cheap food which is great not so great service they dont bring food out at the same time as all meals and wait staff forget to serve you to the point you have to go up and ask to be served.
I ordered three dishes to take away. Still waiting after 25mins. Food comming out of the kitchen looks awesome. Deco is appealing too. I hope my takeaway worthwhile waiting for 30mins. Fingures crosse..
So satisfying!. The best curry laksa and nasi lemak in Perth by far!
Liked the food. Did not l.... Liked the food.
Did not like the 10% surcharge for public holiday that was only advertised in small pen on the front door. This is now illegal due to recent changes in the Trade Practices Act regarding component pricing.
Authentic Malaysian food. We had the curry laksa and fried kuay teow and found both to be absolutely delicious! Servings were large, making the restaurant very good value for money. The food preparation time, however, was a bit slow, seeing that we were there for an early lunch and the only table when we placed the order. However we'll certainly be back and look forward to introducing it to friends and trying other items on the menu!
Best Penang laksa in perth
Delicious Fried Kway Tiaw. Love the Kway Tiaw. But sometimes you can only eat one plate of it. Two would make you feel revulsion.
Other menus I don't really recommend. I don't like the fried rice. Hmm... Indonesian/Thai rice food is far better taste.
Like it. Good service, tasty food without all the fluff...will certainly go back again
Good Spot. The Kapitan chicken was divine. Love the sambal belacan fried rice as well. Definitely more on the authentic side
I'm Malaysian, this is authentic :). Jiggy: as a Malaysian, I have been disappointed time and again by mediocre, imitation Asian and Malaysian cuisine. Rasa Nyonya/D'Nyonya has consistently served up authentic, mouth-watering food at decent prices. My favorites are the Curry Laksa, Nasi Lemak, Curry Kapitan and Sambal Belacan Fried Rice. Their three-layer tea is nice too, as is their milky iced tea, but it is quite sweet... This is authentic, however, as Malaysians LOVE overloading their drinks with sugar. Don't believe me, go to Kuala Lumpur and try it yourself.
Anyway, my partner ('Jigar') loves the food here too - and he's quite the food snob! He also cannot take spicy food and he has found a perfect balance here (compared to other places that have been too spicy). I on the other hand LOVE chilli - the hotter, the better! There's lots of that here, too. Just check the menu for spiciness levels or ask the friendly staff.
Service is friendly and reasonably fast on weekdays, it took 15 mins for us to get our food, but on Friday and Saturday, be prepared to WAIT. 45 minutes for your meal to arrive.
As for pricing, I don't think the rating given on urban spoon is accurate $15-25 per meal). We had a main dish each plus a drink each and it cost us $26 total. For Perth standards, that is cheap. I am pretty regular here and would definitely keep coming back for my staple favourites :)
Tasty. Kapitan curry was delicious! We tried the beef, but I think the chicken would be even better. It was a generous serve between two people with coconut rice.
For entree we had the samosa's which were a little oily and bland, but the dipping sauce was nice.
We also had the Salted Egg Chicken which was odd to our tastebuds (having never had something similar). The batter on the outside tasted of raw egg, but the chicken insade was moist and tender. I dipped mine in the curry gravy to get rid of the egg flavour.
The restaurant is clean, the service efficient and the food came out quickly. Very good, and will be back for the curry!
Really good halal food. Made reservation few days before and glad I did because it was packed. Food was excellent as was the service. Prices very reasonable. Recommend this place as it was recommended to me.
Yummy Laksa. Laksa here is so yummy. Very cheap too only $9.50!
Best laksa in Perth. Really good laksa, also had their curry which was also great. Authentic Malaysian food for sure.
Good spot for a simple meal. 12/1/1/2015
Update: Over the years, we have continued to patronise D'nyonya Penang. The friendly, prompt service and consistent food quality & taste keeps bringing us back for that taste of Penang. Highly recommended for a cheap & tasty eat .

We came here for lunch and had the char kuey teow, assam fish & steamed rice. Our orders came pretty quick and the service was good. The kuey teow was nice, but a bit too sweet that day. Same for the assam fish, too sweet. Both dishes were very tasty and well prepared otherwise. Serving size of the char kuey teow could have bit a bit bigger. Given a choice, i'd probably go for the kuey teow at Cambridge food hall by a hair as it has a better wok taste there. It seems to be popular for families too as there was a couple of large families dining at the same time. It's a good spot to come for a simple meal that shares some of the offerings of Malaysian cuisine. We'd happily return to Rasa nonya for a meal.
Loved it!!. Went for lunch to check this restaurant out prior to a family gathering.
Food is great, even though I did get the wrong dish! But, hey, who cares? the food is fresh, tasty, cheap, the ambiance is ...hmmm , I would call it street stall in Malaysia, without the charm!
But we will be back, for the authentic food, and cheerful service.. Top marks!!
Authentic and affordable. Honest food, affordable, good portions, good service.
I particularly like the chicken curry, assam fish and their Milo Dinosaur. Others are worth trying too. And - who would have thought even a simple fried omelette here could taste so good?
Fabulos Resturant. The mee goreng was delicious to tasted absolutly fabulous... This is the best asian resturant's I've ever went to... And the thing thats really special in the resturant is that they all cook the food fresh they don't heat it up or anything ... =) rating 95% If you decorate that place it would look even better ...

Thurs night curry!. Having heard rave reviews i decided to trythis out on a Thursday night dinner . The place has the ambience of a typical asian cuisine outlet (roomy, busy, noisy), however service was excellent. We ordered the sambal fried rice, salted fish and beanshoots vegie dish, chicken curry (this is just beautiful!) and carrot juice and teh tarik which was both nice. Food is around $10-16 and is quite sizeable. Worth a visit!
If you're looking for tasty Malaysian flavours that's reasonably priced with a pleasant dining experience this is the place. I've been eating here since they opened over a year ago, and unlike some places where the food quality declines after 6 months, this restaurant has continued to serve up quality food and flavours without fail. The best kuey teow in Perth hands down. Definitely recommend Rasa Nyonya Penang!
Yummy food, without the fuss. So I ate there tonight, it was nice and quiet, a few couples and families.
I just had a teh tarik - very good, hot but not too sweet, and to eat I had a curry chicken with roti chanai and sambal ikan (sambal dried fish).
Yummo! very nice rich flavours, home-made roti too!.
It came on a pressed metal tray like in Malaysia, but it came out cold - and not a very big serve of curry chicken though, but the roti were hot..
So cheap and tasty choices, try the "stretch tea"...
It's proper Baba-Nyonya cuisine...
Update:
Last night (Tues 18th May) I had the laksa, very nice, not too fatty or too hot chilli-wise, good fresh prawns, but no egg! I had nice thin kwey-teow noodles (you get a choice of what noodles you'd like), sliced fish balls and fried bean curd.
Another tea tarik - very hot but good on a cold Perth night.
Enjoyable, I would love a rendang next...

...what a mysterious flavour this Malaysian Assam Gulai has….I have no idea what kind of spices were mixed into it and although Malaysia is the neighbour country to Thailand, its cooking method and ingredients are quite different.
We often ended up with leftovers for breakfast the next day (don’t judge me). However, the dinner bill was rarely more than $15 per person. As budding regulars to the restaurant, we also scored free takeaway containers!
Cute place with very accommodating and friendly servers. The food was tasty and authentic. Wait time wasn't too long. Would definitely come back
Really tasty comfort food! Mee Goreng was tasty, fried chicken was full of tasty spices and flavours although unfortunately it was served cold. Beef rendang was nice and tender and had some good flavours, but tasted like it was missing an ingredient. Roti canai was okay, mostly crispy bits and not a lot of soft bits.
Tap water was lukewarm, but air conditioning was fine.
No lunch specials unfortunately.
No surcharge for containers!
Our first time dining out for 2022 and this place is still as tasty (probably a bit more tastier) then the last time. Which is good for a restaurant as the food is consistent.
Everything we had from the satay chicken, Nasi Lemak, chicken skin, kwetiao, fried rice even the ice kacang was pretty tasty.
This place is known for their teh tarik tower and you can’t go without ordering one if you came in a group.
Happy and satisfied after finishing our meal here. 5 ⭐️
I wish could’ve found this place earlier 🤥. The FOOD is absolutely delicious and serving size is great. This is our regular restaurant now and gonna try every single dish on the menu. I would definitely recommend to try once if you haven’t and you will be coming again and again to try other dishes 🥰
Really surprised this isn’t ranked higher? One of the best Char Kway Teows I’ve had outside of Malaysia - The spicy is really spicy the normal isn’t so medium spice is probably the best. The curry chicken is melt in your mouth. The beef rendang is likewise soft with a kick to it. And the fried chicken is even better than I’ve had in Malaysia. Also they do ice Bandung with jelly. Legit flavors of Malaysia. Fresh roti and excellent dips.
Went here for the first time on Saturday for my birthday. Really enjoyed it. To our surprise some friends were on the table next to us. Staff were great. And food was excellent.
