Review Cafe Centro - Eastwood

Samin Farzaneh
Amazing menu and coffee!! My partner and I accidentally found this place and we weren't disappointed. They have such a great variety that we had to order 3 mains and 2 drinks. The food was perfectly cooked and super fresh, smashed avocado and chicken burger were probably the best I've had in a long time! The coffee was spot on. great flavour and tempreture!! We'll be back soon. ❤

Best breakfast place in Eastwood! Excellent coffee and good service!

Best coffee in the area for sure! And it's consistently good with great friendly service. I am a Eastwood local and been working from home lately - so like to go out to a cafe for a few hours to get some work in. And Cafe Centro is the one which I like to most often head back to. They open early which is great too.

I am a local in Eastwood for 2 years now and I've been to nearly every single place in the area where you can get coffee. It's very easy to say they make the BEST coffee in the area hands down. I went there again this morning and again they delivered the quality I expect from coffee so I had to give them the 5 star rating they deserve.

The coffee is excellent. When I order my single origin double espresso it doesn't get served until the barista is satisfied it is perfect. One day I watched as they made 4 coffees before they were satisied it met their standard. The food is delicious and the staff are really friendly and engaging. I'm there most weekends and will continue to do so.

Cafe Centro had been our Saturday regular spot. Good and consistent quality, reasonably priced and have our favourite team. Local gem quality may not be top notch, but the team vibe has been amazing. It has transition to new owner under new name yet to open but am looking forward to the new establishment.

Great coffee and beautiful breakfast. Came on the day before x-mas and even though they were quite busy, service was quick, friendly and quality was not compromised. Tried a spicy Turkish susage breakfast. Came with nice toast evenly buttered, tasty fried eggs and grilled tomatoes. Very happy. Will definitely come back !

The photos look good but it's a bit average to be honest. I suppose it's one better cafes in Eastwood but it is yet to compare to some of my favourite cafes in Newtown. If you are hungry though then you probably won't care either way. It gets busy so the locals must love it. The big breakfast was average and the corn fritter stack was good.

The only place in Eastwood that I know do coffee well. Great food too! Plenty of seating. Good ambience. Excellent service which in Eastwood can be difficult to find.

I have been regular here more than5 years and always enjoy the food and coffee . Tho my favourite staffs are all gone I think they make the best coffee in town

I hadn't been to Cafe Centro for almost a year and I used to enjoy the food there and the attentiveness of the staff. However; I was disappointed with my experience of having lunch there today. I ordered the poached eggs and I had told the waiter that I would like to have the eggs on brown breads; instead of sourdough. The original menu is for the eggs to be on sourdough. I have a bit of problem with digesting sourdough. However when the food was delivered to my table I didn't really pay attention as I was reading the messages from my phone. When I finished the message reading; I realized that the eggs were on Sourdough. As I didn't say anything when the food was delivered; so I just didn't say anything and finished only half of the bread. When I paid the bill; I was just mentioned to the waiter (in a friendly way) when I paid the bill that I had ordered brown breads as I had issues of digesting sourdough. The waiter seemed to ignore my comments and then an guy came up and told me that the cafe doesn't serve brown breads or other breads but only Sourdough. I told him that it would be good if I was told when I ordered the food; then I might order other food. The attitude of this guy was rude and unprofessional and the waiter continued to ask me to pay; although I had my credit card with me. I suspect that the guy thought I didn't want to pay the bill and it is an insult to me. Guess they should be more polite and should notify their customers in the first place that they only serve sourdough.

Being a regular customer for 2 years, I love having breakfast at Cafe Centro. Food is great ( I love their big breakfast, particularly the chorizo and crispy bacon), price is reasonable and service is quick even during busy saturdays. Most importantly, the service crew is warm and accommodating the moment you step into the cafe. Keep up the good work guys!

This place has been brought by an chinese businessman who clearly have no clue on how to make coffee...Coffee taste like milk and black coffee taste very bitter.

My advice: Just don't go there anymore.

The food was very nice and the portion was reasonable for its cost. The environment is quiet and gives a family friendly vibe. PS the chips was gorgeous and very big portion.

This is a friendly cafe with great coffee and food, a really good spot for a catch up with friends. As regulars, we've never had a dud meal. The coffee beats places in the CBD including Mecca.

Always like to pop in and get a cup of coffee, even change the boss but can still keep the quality.

Good choice for coffee and a banana bread is above average too.

A nice cafe in Eastwood area. They make a good coffee all the time. And also they serve nice food too, like big breakfast or egg Benedict. Staff are so friendly and professional.

This café never really caught my eye as I walked up and down the plaza. The interior wasn’t flashy and had basic wooden chairs, I also noticed they had their fair amount of use by now. It was a busy Saturday morning and the service was slow. I don’t feel this place is suitable for a long brunch due to the atmosphere.

The latte had a nice art over it but it was a bit lopsided, nevertheless the coffee was great. Weaker in comparison but it felt lighter than any other. Dukkah eggs were delicious, it had aromatic dukkah seasoning, acidic caramelised onions and, what I think was the hero of the dish, beetroot relish. The food standards are good but the décor and lack of unique dishes is what keeps me from returning.

The brunch menu has improved significantly since the last time we've been there. The coffee is good and the staff were attentive, the food also came out fast which is always a plus!

Delicious food, best coffee in Eastwood, and all of the staff are super lovely. I live very close and always take my friends who also very much enjoy this café. If I had to complain about anything its that I wish they were open later than 5pm.

One of the few cafes that are opened for early breakfast on Rowe St in Eastwood! I had the chargrilled field mushroom with balsamic, roasted tress tomato, rocket, feta topped with poached egg on soy linseed sourdough with a balsamic glaze which was quite tasty. Also had my favorite matcha latte, a bit sweeter than what I like but still good!

There has been a very short "not so good" moment, both their coffee and food. BUT I have to say, their original "goodness" has came back! Good quality food and coffee (Gabriel beans). Friendly service! One of the best cafes in Eastwood that does decent coffee.

Went there with my friends for breakfast before heading off to a road trip. I've heard several good comment about this cafe so I decided to give it a try. Three of us ordered the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon/bacon which were actually quite disappointing. The hollandaise sauce seems to way too sour and not creamy enough, probably too much vinegar and lemon juice in the making. And the poached eggs were a bit over cooked. But the service was quite good and attentive.
Stephanie
Friendly staffs but I don't know why the waiter kept wanting to take the menu away from me while I was still ordering. I find that quite rude. Went with hubby and kid so it should be quite obvious that I will be ordering more than just a cappuccino. Smoked salmon eggs benedict came with no hollandaise sauce. Very disappointing :(

I haven't been here for years but I stopped by for a chai latte. $4 seems a bit pricey for a chai latte in Eastwood but nevertheless perhaps it's the lack of quality of cafes around that dictate. Staff were nice and the locals seem to enjoy it.

A good cafe with great chef. Regular menu with a few additional seasonal or specials components to spark your interest. The coffee is good too as it's both bitter and milky enough for those who like a decent flat white; dark and smooth enough for those who like a long black. The owner explained they use different beans for different coffees, and the composition of water also differs depending on temperature of day/time of making. I never knew there was so much more to making a good coffee! The vibe is the right balance of noise plus ability to enjoy your own table conversations. Owner is very approachable and keen to introduce the menu and to get your thoughts. Personal favourites: spaghetti gamberi, seafood risotto (the sauce is a white wine base with infused chilli and garlic i think!), the penne americana; barramundi and chips (yum with the home made pickled tartare sauce). Oh and i love the bacon - it's smokily grilled and never over/under done. I have also tried the Thai beef salad...It's fresh with the integration of coriander as an actual ingredient (as opposed to sprigs topping the dish), and the beef is lovingly tender. The dressing though is on the sweet side for me as I prefer more heat. Ricotta pancakes are really smooth/silky. Interesting items that look worth a taste: the Centro burger, the pizzas, seafood basket. Owner says they're about to tweak the menu again and add more "French" to it. :) The item I most want added back onto the menu is French Toast! Pretty please⋯⋯?

Really nice cafe with some good food choices. I've been here a few times and they do a pretty good coffee and hot chocolate. I normally go for the pasta dishes here as well, with their prawn linguine and penne cabonara being the best that I've had. Prices are decent and not too expensive, about what you'd expect from a cafe.

This time we ordered a prawn pizza, fish and chips and the penne. The pizza we ordered however had way too much rocket on it, but it's was alright otherwise. The fish and chips were pretty good, and the penne as well. Overall a nice little cafe, definitely with going to.

Service here is really really good. Everyone is super friendly. We ordered the wild mushroom on toast, smashed peas, big red robe tea and a soy cap. The tea was really average, had no distinct taste and was extremely mild. Not sure what it was supposed to taste like but it was as if it didn't really serve its purpose as tea. Coffee was just okay as well. Food was not bad especially the mushrooms, however it did come out a little cool. Overall, I wouldn't mind going back because the staff are really great, but wouldn't go with high expectations for the food.

Recent date of visit: 19 December 2015

Tried the local cafe and I was fairly surprised at the quality of this place - staff were very attentive and presented me with a menu as soon as I sat down. I tried the eggs benedict with salmon and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection.i found the salmon a little cold for my liking but still very much enjoyed it. The cappuccino was also very good

Cafe Centro has great food, lovely owners and the best coffee! Emphasis on the best coffee! Been going here for years and I don't have a single complaint.

I've only had coffee here but I'm pretty impressed. Previously, getting good coffee in Eastwood was impossible. These guys do great coffee with Mecca beans.

The long long lead-up 5 minutes of Urbanspoon due diligence does the trick. We visit Café Centro, a 'hole in the wall’ set-up discretely nestled amongst a rag-tag bunch of Asian noodle houses...The staff are top notch – attentive, quick service and happy to recommend dishes...Menu choices are plain-Jane but and well-priced ( Lorie goes for deliciously sounding poached eggs on crispy potato cake with smoked salmon and watercress.
Snapshots Of Food
A pleasant brunch indeed - perfectly poached eggs on the Benedict Poached Eggs, Bacon, Spinach, Hollandaise I had the potato cake (I believe) with poached eggs, GENEROUS amount of salmon and watercress. I knew I wouldn't enjoy watercress but thought I would give it another try. Yep, just as I anticipated. The watercress ended up in in my tissue. I wish I ordered a Benedict instead though :( Matt loved his dish. And again, the amazing rich hollandaise with perfectly poached oooooozing eggs... with spinach and a crunchy toast. *gulp* Why didn't I order this???? #regrets It was tasty though :) Air bicycle/bicycle on the wall! What's the story behind this does anyone know? Please share with us snapshotsoffood@gmail.com :) Rustic feel with the menu. I love lemon lime bitters but the brand below was way too strong and tasted very syrupy. We only had half a bottle (what a waste)

Recently refurbished, Café Centro has returned with some simple but neat interior décor, a greater seating plan and some quality food. Located in the heart of Eastwood's bustling shopping district, Café Centro (139 Rowe Street, Eastwood) uses 'Mecca' coffee beans for their coffees and serves up a variety of all day breakfast meals with a number of cakes and tarts to complete the experience. From the outside, it looks like a hole in the wall type of café, standing out compared to the adjacent storefronts surrounding it. Once inside however, friendly staff are waiting to meet and greet whilst you suddenly become part of the atmosphere. From the Outside Red Doors Bike on Wall Bottles of Water Andrew and I usually have our usual debate about the pros and cons of 'Mecca' beans, Patty and I aren't really big fans of it to be honest but Andrew is all for it and usually gets his morning coffees at Café Centro before work. Chris Almeida , another Mecca lover, will also have something to say

...had the Salmon Benedict ($15.50) instead of the normal one. Yes, I love my salmon and egg. The poached egg was done to perfection and I got all excited when I saw the Hollandaise sauce. I little thick but I love Hollandaise sauce - my three loves in one dish, I can have this every day.

The menu may be ordinary but if I wanted a simple meal then Cafe Centro would be my choice. Speaking of french toast, I really need to try out the Kazbah one!

More Thought Needed. I like this cafe, the coffee is great and the young waitress is efficient and very pleasant. Sadly they need to put more effort in to the food being served. A Bacon and Egg Roll served on a cheap and tasteless bread roll doesn't cut it. How about a nice brioche roll or even a sourdough roll.

Sometimes owners become complacent and don't look at what is coming out of the kitchen.

Excellent little hidden Gem. Nestled in amongst what seems a little China town is cafe centro. The breakfast is fantastic, staff are very polite, helpful and attentive. Coffee is very good and they use good milk.
They have definitely lived up to their rating on urban spoon.

I love coffee! So whenever I go out I have at least 3 to 5 coffee. And usually they are either too bitter or not right temperature! But this one is different! And this is only coffee shop where they make coffee that you do not have to put sugar. Also food here is quiet nice. The price is bit high but they worth it. Best coffeeshop ever in Sydney!!

Neighbourhood gem. Great local place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch. Low prices for good quality food and good service.

Really disappointed not open Sundays. Was looking forward to a late breakfast

Good little cafe, been there a few times, only had one bad experience (waited over 20 minutes for two cups of take away coffee, maybe it was a different barista? made burnt coffee), but besides that one bad experience the food and coffee and service are generally good there

Really like it. had a nice breakfast with my gf

Best coffee in Eastwood by miles. Good food at reasonable prices, and a family business with friendly, efficient service. How much more do you want?
