The lovely ladies at The Grain were very helpful and accommodating when we were trying to veganize everything. They had limited English so double checking “no meat, egg, fish sauce, oyster sauce” the whole shebang, was a process but all done with enthusiasm. It seems they have had previous experience 🖒
We ordered the vegetarian curry puffs (yum!), which could have done with a bit more filling but still good. The pad see ew was also nice, not too salty but a tad oily. Funny thing was our veggie stir fry was noticeably smaller than other stir fries on surrounding tables. Had no idea why and it wasn’t particularly welcome as we like to eat, but then at the end they had charged us less also. Strange. Still, had a solid meal so wouldn’t mind going back.
The Grain is a bit off the main dining area near the station where all the restaurants are, so not sure how long it would take to walk there. But if you’re driving, worthwhile to check it out. Surrounded by houses so looks like a place for the locals to get their thai fix.
Great place to come for their cheap lunch specials, and even do delivery if you are in the area. Their food is always very flavoursome and generous.
The down side is that it is pretty much a hole in the wall, so there is only about 4 or 5 tables to sit at.
Fantastic flavour and spice, well balanced.
Give you the level of spice and heat requested every time.
Could be more generous with their servings of meats in their various dishes, a bit too heavy on the noodles and not enough to protein. Otherwise bang on :)
The Pad See Eew with Duck is the Bomb ! Great Hot Wock Flavour. A definite goto quick wholesome food. Get there before lunch rush.
The Noodles have a great Hot Wok flavour !

Absolutely great staff and excellent food. I had the yellow chicken curry and it was very well done. Try the chrysanthemum tea! Give this place a try, the prices are excellent and you will love the food.

Try Pad Thai a couple days ago, taste awesome. Everyone should try this one.

This is the best Thai you can get for the price you pay.
The food is super delicious, taste is balanced. Most importantly the price is surprisingly affordable. We have 5 people and it took us only 80$ to have full stomachs. Just a quick remind that you should pay by cash to receive 5% discount.
However, their serving stuffs like bowl, fork, lift, etc... were not washed appropriately when we were there as there were some stains, but the staff quickly replaced for us with newer ones. 4 stars overall.
Delicious food, great prices and the wonderful people there are always friendly and welcoming. It's our local Thai favourite!
Good portion with decent price. Open kitchen with friendly staff. the stir fry tastes good but sure to have heaps of salt and sugar in....
A nice small place in Balaclava Road. Stumbled across this place by chance when we use to patronise another restaurant around the area.
Food is nice, tasty and yummy. Not too expensive
The taste cannot be compared to Thailand itself but its ok.
