Review Jeans Chilli Chicken - Eastwood

Chayut Orapinpatipat
Spicy chicken good! Eel is good too. Free rice bowl mix is also tasty. Reasonable price. Plenty of table. Nice Korean joint. Free unlimited side dishes. 5% discount for cash payments. However however, the service is a bit unwelcoming.

Smokey BBQ chicken flavour was strong and fragrant. Loved the DIY side bar and rice balls and the fried chicken was super crunchy, crispy and delicious. Highly recommend for a fun dinner with friends or family!

Really delicious and affordable. Great variety of food for everyone with different taste buds. Absolutely impressed with the egg roll and fried chicken. Loved the sides (kimchi - chefs kiss). Highly recommend, we'll be back.

I’ve finally tried the famous Jeans Chilli chicken and it was sensational! The foods and services were top notch! Bbq pork - the pork is tender and well seasoned. It is quite spicy so if you can’t handle spicy foods, maybe this is not for you. Bbq chicken + cheese - filled with big chunks of juicy chicken. Bbq duck - boneless duck with steamed vegetables. My favorite is the 주먹밥 (rice balls)! They also have delicious side dishes (unlimited refills if you order the chicken). 150/100 for the service. The owner went above and beyond to ensure that the customers are happy. You should definitely visit Jeans Chilli Chicken!!!

This is Eastwood’s go to spot for chilli chicken! Their fried chicken isn’t bad too. They’ve done recent renovation works which has really made this spot more upmarket. On Friday and Saturday nights I would recommend booking as it can get busy.

Jeans chilli chicken does not disappoint! The rice balls that you can make are fun and perfectly seasoned. Self-serve kimchi, pickles, and pickled radish. Egg roll is deceptively big, and quite heavy, recommended for 4 or more people Tteokbokki is cooked perfectly chewy and soft. Chicken is fried to perfection and the flavours are very nice.

Jeans Chilli Chicken is truly is an institution in Sydney and you cannot do a trip here without experiencing Jeans famous Chicken. He once told me himself that he created the secret chilli recipe based off 3 different types of chilli imported directly from Korea. Not sure if I believe him but the chicken sure as hell will give you a blast. The general way that this goes for newbies is you'll receive your plate of chicken and each person a bowl of seaweed rice. You hand roll your balls (using the included gloves) and then cutup the chicken and eat the ball and chicken together. The side dishes are unlimited so feel free to cool down yourself on either the pickle (which personally I think works the best) or the creamy pasta salad. The place has in the recent years received a great face lift and you can tell that they really thought about the layout for the outside seating area, super convenient that it's connected to the pub so you're able to grab a few drinks and then sit down. Be warned though, this chicken will have you blasting the toilet the next day. It is 110% worth it though, give it a go!

Our all time favourite. Although really hard to get a table during peak times, we did get one at the TAB area. The smoky chilli chicken is super delicious, the sauce is so unique and firey but you’d still want more. Rice balls are delicious. Tteokbeokki is a bit average but other dishes were very good!

Love the vibe and the spicy grilled chicken here. It’s a massive portion size that comes with various accompaniments like seaweed rice, creamy pasta salad, delicious kimchi and pickled veggies. And yes it’s spicy, I needed to wait for ten minutes after eating two pieces of chicken to get my palate ready to take the next bite.Have tried both the variants with cheese and without and they are heavenly. Overall yummy and friendly on your pocket.

We’ve been to this restaurant quite a few times. Usually we went there in busy times so the bad service and racism wasn’t this obvious. But this time, we were there in the early afternoon so not many people were there. The owner of the restaurant was serving us. In this restaurant, if they order their spicy chicken, they give you unlimited side dishes which include pasta, kimchi, and radish. When we asked for the the second round, the owner was very rude to us- saying if we ask for more, she’s gonna charge us which didn’t even make sense because it was supposed to be unlimited. And when we asked for a takeaway box, she charged us 50c where she never did before. Last time I was here, she didn’t tell me that if we pay by cash, we could get 5% off. So right after I paid with card, I asked her to cancel the transaction on the card so that I can give her cash. She refused to do that. Will never go back to the restaurant again!

Food was excellent! Jean was so hospitable and caring and gave us some freebies! He was very friendly and will definitely
come again 🥰🥰

Tasty Korean chicken

Good chilli chicken, but the consistency is issue. If the owner is not there, the food quality can be poor like jumuk bab can be too salty and portion can be small.
Hayley
I love this place, it offers something different among all the Korean restaurants in Eastwood.
I wished i knew the rice was for rice balls hahhaa, i just ate it like seasoned rice, but it was really good regardless.
The portions are huge, and we again had to bring home the leftovers.
The rice cake stew is spicy but the rice cake is cooked perfectly. The cheese grilled chicken is a little oily, but it's very smoky, aromatic and flavourful.
If we come again next time, we will need to bring more friends with us.

I don’t handle spicy food well, so embarrasingly enough, every time I come here and eat their signature cheese chilli chicken, I always cry! But trust me, it’s the kind of spicy that makes you addicted. Thankfully, they’re understanding enough to have tap water in glass bottles always ready for us to tdrink for free. I don’t wanna imagine what would happen to me if they ever forget to restock the bottled tap waters. 😂

Service was extremely slow and cold. The workers were slow and not quiet. One of our dishes came half an hour after the first dish! The chicken schnitzel was crunchy but only came with around 10 chips very disappointing! Other than that the fried chicken was tasty.
Purple Curiosity
You will find yourself immersed for a few minutes in their menu, probably salivating and thinking at the same time. If you are big on chilli items, you will be blessed with their menu. The majority of their items, have a spicy kick to it, ranging from their single, shared, entree and main plates...

P: purplecuriosity.com/2019/02/23/jeans-chilli-chicken/

One of the best dishes in Sydney ! 😍❤️ You need to try their chicken with cheese, pork belly, soy garlic chicken and eel! Eat them with the seaweed rice and there goes a satisfied belly 🤣
Eunifoodie
I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Their cheese ddukkbokki is so good and I love how they give rice balls for every main you order. Their chicken schnitzel is massive!!

I still remember my first visit and when I placed that scrumptious but red hot chicken into my mouth. It’s hot! Be warned if you try their signature dish, be prepared to take some hot chilli as it’s not to be taken lightly.

Beside that - they boot a great menu from salads, burgers to other korean dishes. With a bar on the side, you can make sure that you can order great drinks with a great atmosphere to boot. One of the great and awesome things about this place is that everytime I am there, the owner is there! If you have a big group, you can be rest assured the owner will at least come and say hi!

My recommendations would be their signature chilli chicken, cheese chilli chicken as well as their rice balls which they do serve out as side dishes if you order enough :)

This place has been long revered by many KFC (korean fried chicken) fanatics! It was a weeknight when we went during dinner time and already tables (outside and inside) were filled with patrons of all ages. We were lucky that a patron just left and we had a nice table just outside of the counter. We took a while to order because it was our first time and wanted to ensure that what we did order was fantastic. We had to order at the counter and the owner gave us a few suggestions on what we could try – thank you! We didn’t know that we could order half-half chicken because there were no options for this on the menu but after he told us, we were thankful because I like mixing and trying more.

I’ve been coming here for several times. The quality of the food is still beautiful. Whoever likes spicy food should try their cheese chilli chicken. Perfect place for hanging out with friends after busy day at work especially on friday night. Try combine it with soju. Perfect!

Gave this place a try after seeing reviews of it. I love how they give you a free bowl of rice for you to make rice balls. The rice cakes were spicy and so were the chilli cheese chicken! They weren’t outstandingly amazing but it was still a pretty good feed. Average prices and the workers are lovely! We dipped the rice balls into the rice cake sauce and it tasted bomb!!

One of my fave korean spicy chicken spots in Sydney! Be careful though, when they say it's spicy, they're not joking! For someone with a crazy high spice tolerance, I could definitely taste the chilli. Do recommend, and got to say the cheese makes an amazing pairing
Chaltime
I LOVE their chilli cheese chicken! I order it every time and won't get sick of it. But if you are not good with spicy food, i would recommend other dishes. the owner is extremely friendly as well. A great place to hang out with friends.

Prolly one of my favourite restaurant in Sydney!
Even though I live pretty far from this restaurant, but I can't keep myself from coming back again and again. First off, Jean, the owner, is one of the sweetest man I know. He loves to give away free seaweed rice which is the most delicious seaweed rice I've ever tasted! He is also very considerate of his customers. The cheese chilli chicken is always my go-to menu although it could be very spicy. The spicy grilled eel is also so delicious as well! I'd say a must try is their cheese tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), it's probably the best tteokbokki I've tasted in Sydney (and believe me, I have a passion for korean food).
Overall, I definitely recommend this place to those who can handle spicy!

I rate restaurants based on the following: 1star, I will never go back there even it is free, I will not waste my time with one star places. 2stars, it’s not great, average food, I would go back there if it was free. 3stars, I would go back there, the food is reasonable considering value for money. 4stars, I sometimes crave the the food and will go back there because of the quality, price and service. 5stars, it’s my favourite places, my first choices to dine out. By far it’s the best for your taste buds and pocket!

The Chilli Chicken with Seaweed rice is amazing! Extremely spicy, full of flavour and pretty addictive. Keep going back for the same dish ...

We went on a Saturday night and the service was amazing considering they were so busy. We ordered the Chilli Cheese Chicken in the photo and it came with lots of sides such as bowls of seaweed rice, macaroni salad and of course kimchi! It tasted very nice and spicy, though I recommend cutting the chicken up into smaller pieces just to make it easier to eat. Overall would definitely come here again!
Ling
Had low expectations from the menu as it has very few options of chicken - chilli chicken, cheese chicken & spicy chicken leg. We opted for the cheese chicken & rice balls as it seem to be the popular option from reviews. I must say I was very impressed - Spicy level increases at every bite and definitely must-try for chilli lovers. It isn't the usual Korean fried chicken, more like braised chilli chicken topped with cheese. Don't missed out on the rice as it was soooo flavourful with crispy seaweed and lil bites of chicken. Such fun esp for kids to be able to roll your own rice ball to war. Loved it as you could order alcohol from next door

Worst, rudest uneducated staff ever. I think it was the owner at the counter. We ordered honey chicken and the guy asks “would you like half honey chicken and half ginseng chicken instead?”. As my wife was curious what ginseng chicken was, she asked. And the guy’s response was just flat out rude. He said “if you don’t know what it is, don’t order, don’t eat”. The way he said it in Korean, he had no sense of manner/etiquette. Just uneducated rude bloke with no basic etiquette. As for the food? Found 1 strip of ginseng on a ginseng chicken. What a ripoff. Go to Strathfield chicken places instead.

Great cheese chili chicken, always go there for the dishes only.

But poor service there, staffs are rude.

A bit pricey compared to other restaurants in the area.

Food: I keep going back again and again and it's because I love the chilli chicken. The standard one is too hot for me, so I stick with the chilli chicken with cheese. Always cooked to perfection and still really hot!

Service: Service has been average on some occasions and good on others. We have received free sticky rice on numerous occasions too which we really appreciate!

Atmosphere: Atmosphere tends to depend on the day and time you go as it's at a pub. Pretty standard hotel vibe.

Price; A little bit pricey for the chicken, but there are plenty of affordable options. The chicken is worth the price.

The famous Korean Chicken in Eastwood! The place was quite nice, it has indoor and outdoor seats with many available seats. The staffs were nice and they have ranges of menu. Fish & Chips - $11.90. I ordered this fish and chips without expecting much because of the cheap price compares to other menus but this dish was quite decent. The chips was nice and the fish was tender as well. So it is a good choice for snacks in this restaurant.

I have been going to this restaurant twice now. It was first mentioned by a friend who also love spicy food. Highly recommended to dine with for those who love spicy food. Most of the food are very spicy. So far, the one that I tried which was not spicy was the Egg Casserole. Ordered that for my child who is still amateur in eating spicy food. Those that I have ordered (Chilli BBQ Chicken, Ginseng Fried Chicken, and Egg Roll) have been our favourites. I would really love to come back another time to try on something else on the menu. In terms of service, I guess it can be improved as when I dined at this restaurant for the first time that time, the waitress was not very friendly or approachable. But when I came again for the second time, we were treated really well.

Very nice korean/bistro restaurant. Nice, cheap and huge portion. Had a chicken snitzel and boscaiola, tastes great. Awsome customer service. Would definitely recommend.

WORST FOOD and SERVICE. My husband and I went there for dinner. First, the staff ignored us completely and didn't even give us the menu. When I was ready to order, he doesn't even know what's on the menu. Pasta side dish with mayo is a complete disaster, overcook and tasteless. Even the kimchi was terrible. We ordered rump steak and bbq chilli cheese chicken. None of those were edible. The steak was rubbery and hard, mushroom sauce was lacking in seasoning and chips were soggy. Chicken was covered in cheese and chilli, but has no seasoning whatsoever. Staff NEVER gave us any water.
If the owner is even reading this comment, please train your staffs properly and orientate them with the menu. Costumer service is a big plus in any establishments.

This place is the go-to restaurant for chili lovers. I especially like the chili chicken and the chicken feet. The egg soup is also good as well.
This restaurant is located inside the Eastwood Pub, so you could order your favorite drink with your favorite dish. I like the combination of 1 jug of beer and sizzling portion of chili chicken to be shared with.
Don't forget the rice balls, it's a combination of rice, seaweed, sesame seeds and sesame oil. Make it into a ball size with cut-piece of chicken, taste really good.
Pacc
Dining in 40 degree heat, you would expect some sort of aircon, but no not this place. Prices are pretty ridiculous here for the amount you get. Side dishes were good. The $35 cheese chilli chicken was good. Good for those loving their chilli. A pass for the tender chicken.
NatashaK
If you have tastebuds which are very tolerant of spicy food, then i highly recommend both the chilli chicken with cheese and the spicy rice cakes, which come with complimentary seaweed rice (which is actually quite good and a great addition to the meal). If you're looking for something edible (by edible i mean non-spicy), then their ginseng fried chicken is a good option.
They're also open late which makes it a good place to come to for a late night feed. Ive been coming here for years and i'll always come back as other places just don't make the chilli cheese chicken as good as jeans.
Olivia
Chicken cheese is my favourite in here. I tried the tteokpoki also before and it is also good. It comes with big portion. The place is nice.
Adrian Lim
The food, ambience and service is pretty good here. Nothing to complain about. But you need a high spice tolerance level to dine here. Would be better if they had a less spicy chilli chicken option as it's their most popular item. Diahroea incoming if you can't handle spice.

From scale (1 - 5)
Food & Bev (4,5 / 5)
Service (3 / 5)
Ambience (4 / 5)
Value (4 / 5)

If you have a high threshold for spiciness I reccommend the chilli chicken with cheese and the spicy rice cakes. The seaweed rice is also very yummy and fun, you get to mix it with your hands and form a ball shape (they do give you plastic gloves).

the soft tofu-like steamed egg is so fluffy and soft, should try it!

things to improve maybe the attentiveness from the staff, because when we need to order something elese or need more water, we couldnt find the staff.

Restaurant was super busy on a saturday night when we went. There were 9 of us and we had to sit at the pub area which is fine but then everything is pretty much self served. The rice tastes very unique, but at the end of the meal i actually felt abit sick. Chicken was too spicy as well, so this place is definitely not for someone who cant handle spicy food. My boyfriend ordered the egg roll thinking that was the only non spicy food available, even that one was spicy. So yea... overall i would say food is okay

Our go-to dishes at Jean's Chilli Chicken
- Cheese Chilli BBQ Chicken
- Sausage Hot Pot
- Rice Ball (self-service)

The chilli chicken is very very spicy so if you don't like spicy food, this is not for you. Super casual restaurant in a pub. Highly recommend.

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Jean's in Eastwood. The food tastes so good, but my stomach just cannot handle the chilli from the chicken so I always end up with terrible stomach aches later in the night.

If you have a good spice threshold, Jean's is a great place to eat and have a bit of fun cutting up your chicken and mixing it into rice balls. I usually take family from overseas here as they all enjoy a lot of chilli. The interactivity in making your own rice balls makes the dining experience a little more fun.

It's also connected to the Eastwood Hotel so you can easily go over to the bar and grab a few drinks to go with the meal. If you struggle with chilli, the cheese option really helps counteract the spice. Or if you really can't take any spice, the ginseng chicken is pretty nice too.

Every time I went here with my Indonesian friends, the owner always gives us extra free rice. I think their customer service is amazing! In terms of food, my personal favorite is the chili grilled eel and the cheese chicken. The cheese is very well mixed with the spicy chili! The chicken is so spicy that I always ends up with a stomachache in the morning. It doesn't stop me from coming back though, the chicken is too delicious to miss!

Best buldak (literally translates to fire chicken, or also known as chilli chicken) in Sydney! This may not actually be true and I certainly haven’t tried all the buldak restaurants in Sydney, but I have been going to Jean’s for the last 8 years so they are the best in my eyes. When there was the long gap in between when they closed/kind of relocated, it was sorely missed and nothing could really replicate the firey juicy chicken taste that is sure to light your tongue on fire. It is incredibly spicy so if handling heat is not your specialty – be warned. There is the option of cheese buldak which does reduce the spiciness a little, and the melted cheese does make a good pairing. Haven’t had it for about 6 months so not sure if they still do, but it used to come with the rice balls which is a combination made in heaven. I was so ridiculously happy just eating the chicken, rice balls, and side radish that also came out.

The owner is also hilarious. Back in the day he used to go from table to table, sometimes personally making the rice balls for you at the table cracking jokes and whatnot. Even sometime last year or so when I went, he came over to us (group of girls) and started off a conversation as to why there were no guys with us and if we would like him to send some over lol. He has a very Korean sense of humour all round but it really was a crack up and he is a load of fun – great customer service!

I’ve been very good for the last couple of months keeping chicken consumption at a complete zero, but if Jean’s chilli chicken was in front of me I may have caved. Luckily (as much as I was okay with it) my fellow diners were very considerate and wanted me to go ahead and order dishes I would actually eat. We got the chilli rice sticks which was a huge serving, the right amount of spiciness, and delicious, with some rice balls (btw you make these yourself by moulding the rice into round balls) because how could you not, and some fish & chips.

This was my first time ordering an item which was not from the Korean food menu, and I think it’s safe to say the best food are on the first two pages. The fish and chips were quite mediocre, and also when I tried to order a salad/steamed vegies, the lady working there told me it was just out of a frozen packet and salad would just be spinach or something like that as these are not regularly requested items.

I don’t think you can go wrong with the chilli options here, they are pretty incredible, and any soups or rice make great sides. Give them a go! Another winning option in Eastwood.
Meily So
My favourite food here is the Chilli Grilled Eel. The rice balls are so good and the Cheese Chilli BBQ Chicken was excellent! I really loved the rice balls so much that I finished the whole bowl of mine. Plastic gloves are provided to us to eat the food with our hands! No worries, you still can use the utensils when eating! But I personally prefer the plastic gloves. I felt that eating chicken are more delicious when I eat it with my hands. And I say this because I know I am not the only one who eat like this! The service was great and we enjoyed the good food very much. By the way, the atmosphere of the restaurant is super casual, which I liked it! Not forgetting that the bar at the restaurant is a great place to have a couple of drinks and gather with your friends! Overall, the most friendly owner and welcoming restaurant I have ever visited. I would definitely go back!
Happytummy1005
Best best best korean chili chicken ❤️

We drove all the way for this and it clearly does not disappoint. The chicken chili cheese is my favourite. The cheese adds good balance to the spiciness - we love spicy food and thought its just nice. The macaroni salad is the antidote if you cant take spiciness - and it always tastes good. The DIY seaweed rice balls are different experience too. Also the fish cake soup was pretty good if you have spare belly capacity. Some friends recommended the steam egg soup but I think with chili chicken its just too filling and I dont find it well together.

The service is so quick and the boss is really nice - we got some extras sometimes. Would always go back if I live nearby!!

The only thing that causes me to take half point off is the location - its hidden inside a pub so be prepared to eat with that kind of ambience!

Friendly staffs and food always comes quick

Cheap and affordable.

Big portions.

Loves it. However needs more variety in the menu. =)....

This place is amazing..a must try if you are in Eastwood... Loved the rice with fried seaweed in it ,the pasta was amazing too which balances the spiciness of the chicken ,pickled raddish was sweet and tasted good which was a surprise element to the entire meal....last but not the least the kimchi summed up the taste buds....
2hungryysisters
If you can handle chilli i really reccommend the chilli chicken with cheese and the spicy rice cakes. The seaweed rice is also very delicious and a very nice addition to either of those dishes. If your looking for something non-spicy, their ginseng fried chicken is also a great option.
Jeans chilli chicken is open to late so its also a great place to come for a late night feed when Maccas just wont satisfy.
I've been a returning customer here for years and that is not likely to change anytime soon. Food is always great and service is always good.
Tony Nguyen
Place where you wanna be for good ol' KFC or alike chicken varieties. I encourage you to make your own chicken (rice)balls (ain't playin'). Solid food 10/10 would go at it again.
Davin Wangsa
We ordered spicy chicken and pork. Each tastes spicy on level 3. Sooooo recommended for you who loves spicy at its best and korean rice lover!
Jmanchatty
Omg the chilli chicken here is amazing, very chilli as people mentioned and absolutely amazing

The riceball DIY is also great, little tip, mix the chicken with thw rice ball for a rice ball chicken, tastes pretty good too

Staff and service is amazing, the owner jean is very nice, definately recommend

Tastiest chicken I've ever had. Eventhough I can't really handle spicy food, this place is an exception. Located just 5 minutes from Eastwood Station, right next to The Eastwood Hotel, you'll find the Jeans Kitchen.

The place is spacious. We had the Jean's Chilli Chicken (as the original) with 2 level spicy reduced. But still, it kicked in the tongue and burning hot yet it is addicting. Served with seaweed rice (korean version), and offered gloves to comfort you for eating with finger lickin' good style. The chicken is juicy, spicy and not dry. We also ordered seafood basket which is not so special.

Would definitely come back 👌🏼

The cheesy chicken spicy with a smoky charcoal chicken is okay but not really special. And the size for the meal is not really generous . It doesnt correspond with the price .
The chicken schnitzel is okay but not memorable . Dressing is so watery , and not strong taste of mushroom. No seasoning . But the size of the chicken is shocked me.
Freyjadirtha Nurdi
Nice chilli chicken indeed!! I've been here many times.. Sometimes the spiciness is a bit inconsistent, I'd say.. But the chicken still taste goood. It's well smoked, indeed! The pork as well, though I'm not a fan of the fatty bit.. A 'lil too much, but I'm quite aware that some people like it. The rice balls definitely can't be missed too, it's kinda fun to ball them! 😛 but again the taste was a bit inconsistent sometime, though at several different times it wasn't bad or anything.. But would comeback!

TOO SPICY. WARNING. CHILLI OVERLOAD. Jean's Chilli Chicken is located in Eastwood Hotel and is famous for it's chilli chicken. After reading reviews from several bloggers and specifically choc suez; I wanted to try the famous chilli chicken. I had read some warnings about how spicy this chicken is but I am determined to test my chilli radar. I looked at the menu and all there are chilli icons, three chillis being the highest. I opt for two chilli icons on the Chilli Cheese Chicken ($35, above).

Having drinks here we ended up getting dinner here as well order the chilli chicken burger and fries and noodle and sausage hotpot. When they say chilli chicken it really is very spicy with added Kim chi. The burger bun felt really dry but the inside of the burger was very soggy from the sauce and lettuce. The sausage hotpot was very spicy as well with undercooked noodles, it took quite awhile to be served and had to ask twice if they had forgotten the order as the waitress wanted to take away the order number and advised we were still waiting for one more dish to top off the night we had a bird dropping in the soup and had to get them to remake it which would take another 30 mins.

Came here for a late lunch after work and I have to say, the chicken was delicious. Ordered a Schnitzel and it was literally the size of my face with chips and salad for $11.90, totally worth it. Plus, the chilli cheese chicken was amazing! Spicy but you can still taste the flavour of the marinated chicken. Definitely has a kick to it, and I'll be bringing other people to try this out as well!
Insatiable Munchies
I know Eastwood might be a bit of a trek for some, but this is my go-to for Chilli Chicken with Cheese. I know we’ve already covered this with Arisun (above), but the chicken here is more succulent, the sauce more chilli, and the cheese more oozy. Also, there’s something just so addictive about the seaweed/rice side dish that comes with every order – you’re meant to use the plastic gloves (which comes at the table) to roll the rice and chicken pieces into little bite sized balls for easy eating. Very involved, and somehow more delicious for it.
Manic Munchies
Ordered the chicken schnitzel with chips & salad from the everyday specials menu. For the price you pay, you won't find a larger slab of chicken, and one so lusciously crumbed. The mushroom sauce was a treat!
Sweetandyummie
Have you got friends? then dont come here alone... gather a group together and smash this delicious chicken together. It worked out quite cheap and they threw in a free rice balls which were amazing. Customer service is good and it has its own carpark.

The place was super casual. A no-fuss place serving good Korean. Love, love the chili chicken. The steamed egg was also really good too. I visited from Melbourne and it's rare to find Korean steamed egg here but this place serves it, and I loved it. Prices were reasonable. I have nothing bad to say about this place!
Ed
Really great place to eat! Liking the duck and the owner also really nice by giving 2 serve of their special rice! definitely will come back for more! :)

Worst Korean restaurant I've been too. Horrible service. The chilli chicken we ordered was $35 and it was tiny.... Would definitely not recommend this place. The taste was super average. Go to Strathfield for more decent Korean food.
Sharon Lau
Sooooooo good! Highly recommend this if you're a fan of spicy food. I would like to recommend a way of eating this to everyone by adding cut pieces of "Cheese Chilli Chicken" and "Ginseng Fried Chicken" into a dish called "Rice Ball". Mix everything and make your own rice ball. With the crunchy from Ginseng fried chicken and the marinated chicken, it's like a heaven!
Monica612
This is the only place I can find food which I cannot stand the spiciness. I like this late night eating place, with smoking area outside. chicken feet is fantastic, but I can hardly find people who can share this dish with me.
James O'Brien
Difficult to order due to waitress being unhelpful. Went to buy a beer at the bar (its a bistro) and she threw my food away! She was rude about it when I asked why. Terrible service! Won't be back!
Amy Christianto
Omnomnom! What a fun experience to prepare the meal itself, and tasting the infamous spicy chicken and pork. The seafood soup tasted good too as it neutralizes the whole spicy situation. I wld come back for more!

When KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) comes to mind, we always seem to head to Jeans Chilli Chicken in Eastwood. Located inside Eastwood Hotel, it's one of the many Asian run restaurants that have decided to combine and open inside a pub that probably needed the business.

With the bar nearby, it's a great excuse to pair up your meal with some refreshing beer. It's how the Koreans do it.

One blatant copyright to this restaurant is their logo... why make it so obvious... at least change the colour or something... and they even stole the motto... umm it's obviously a J for Jeans...

For all your orders you get served some free side dishes, the standard kimchi....

... a bowl of pickled radish to cool down the burn from their chicken

... and a plate of creamy pasta as a secondary extinguisher for the burn. The sides are unlimited upon request.

With four of us, we opted for 3 main dishes. Note to self, 2 main dishes was more than enough to feed the four of us.

We got the Cheese Chilli BBQ Chicken. Which is identical to the Chilli BBQ chicken we got below except with the cheese topping. The cheese does help defuse the burning slightly, hence one less chilli level on their menu.

The chicken is tender and smothered in their chilli sauce. I can assure you, it's quite spicy for most people and might even leave some uncomfortable stomach pains if you over consume.

We also got their Ginseng Fried Chicken. The spice levels for the fried chicken is more mild.

Every dish comes paired with a seaweed rice. This is probably one of the highlights of the meal. The rice is amazing on its own and paired with the chicken.... plus they give you just enough to want more.

If you ever wondered what the craze was with KFC... give this place a try but come prepared for the burn!

We attacked the main dishes. Holy. Macaroni. The Chilli BBQ Chicken was super tender and had a lovely smoky taste that you could just tell was properly charcoal barbecued, and it was mildly spicy. No, it was moderately spicy. No no, it was actually legitimately spicy. The BBQ Duck wasn't as hot and the pieces were hidden under a huge bed of green leaf salad, but they were equally tender and tasty. We downed every single piece of meat and, for once, I was full and satiated. I suppose we did finish over 4 servings of food between the two of us.

I felt nervous visiting this place for the third time. I know for a fact that I'm in no way a chilli lover, so to visit this place for the third time was kinda a surprise even for myself. Obviously, this place is a hit within my circle of friends (yes, they all can eat chillies like some sort of snack, no joke). Wedges with sweet chilli and sour cream sauce ($6) For starter, we had these wedges to share. Ginseng fried chicken ($32) I quite liked this chicken dish as it was crispy and wasn't too spicy either. Honey fried chicken ($32) On another side note, this one was a bit too sweet to my liking, however the sweetness kinda balanced the spiciness of the dish so this dish was still quite enjoyable. Chilly chicken with cheese ($34) Don't be fooled by the look of the melted cheese goodness on top. This dish was definitely the hottest of all the other dishes we'd ordered. I could only have 2 small pieces of this dish because my chilli tolerance is kinda low. Grilled chilli eels ($30)

Popular mains like the Chili chicken with cheese, fire chicken, sweet soy fried chicken, chili chicken feet and their DIY rice balls have since made this place packed with diners of all ages from 6pm daily. The outdoor seating area is beautiful in good weather, with umbrellas for shade and a separate area for smoking. Cold pasta and radish- (you'll need it) Famous chili chicken - with DIY rice balls & gloves. 1/2 Sweet chili fried chicken & 1/2 fried chicken. Bulking. Mains cost around $30-40, and each comes with a cold side of pasta, radish, and a bowl of seasoned rice & glove to make your own rice balls to combine with the chicken. U

Capital H-O-T should be the name for Jeans Chilli Chicken. You can seriously taste the spices long before the chicken is in your tummy!

The menacing plate of chicken coated in spicy chilli sauce initially proved a little too much for me to stomach as I was nursing a bad sore throat then, but I couldn't care less!

The main thing to order here is apparently the Chilli Chicken BBQ dishes that come with a bowl of mixed rice in seaweed, which you then use your BAAAAAAAAAARE hands to turn into riceballs. Honestly, I had no idea what was going on, but turned out well.

Interesting and fun, I would have to admit.
Insatiable Munchies
...it did not disappoint. I ordered the chilli chicken with cheese, and it arrived in a sizzling hot plate with oozing, melted cheese draped over the top like a trophy wife. Fiery and decadent, the combination of punchy chilli sauce with chicken and cheese is surprisingly filling, even before you consider the sides. It came with a lightly oiled rice that was dotted with various flavours like sesame seed, seaweed fl

I would have never found this place if our friend hadn't recommended it. It has been years since my last visit to Eastwood Hotel. It's a Korean restaurant with a Western touch to it, as they serve calamari and chips western style, as well as steak and chips - not very Korean is it?
I Ate My Way Through
It all started with a casual message: 'KFC crawl to find Sydney's best Korean Fried Chicken. Who's in?' One thing led to another and before I knew it, six of us were driving all over Sydney on one fine sunny day to determine where we could find Sydney's best Korean Fried Chicken! From Belfield to Strathfield, Eastwood and the city, all in the name of research, we spent over 12 hours eating fried chicken at five different restaurants. What is it? One of the best snacks ever! Much like Colonel Sander's Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises, there are restaurant chains devoted to serving just Korean Fried Chicken. What makes Korean Fried Chicken standout against any other type of fried chicken is the unbelievable crunch from the double frying process, and the tasty, tasty seasoning. The spicy version is fried in a specially formulated batter mix then glazed in a sticky mixture of ginger, soy sauce,

Delicious; Everything Else, Decent but Perhaps Only at Best. After trying Jean's on multiple occasions, we have noticed that Jean's has consistently poor or only passable service and definitely treat customers different on whether or not you speak Korean. However, we suppose that this is the same everywhere else, perhaps not with language but with conversing with restaurateurs and engaging with them on their terms. Unfortunately, staff are not particularly conversant in English and seem to lack confidence in or are reserved about showing courtesy or manners. Service has been inconsistent in staff bringing tumblers and water and banchan, which, incidentally, seems to come with groups of diners and many mains.

The food at Jean's is rather expensive for what it is (e.g., a bowl of chips at $7.50, a bowl of wedges at $8.50, cheese buldak at $35.00), but the food is undeniably delicious and a definitely redeeming or mitigating factor. True to what is implied by its name, the chicken is pleasantly piquant (or 'spicy'). If you are adventurous and can handle the heat, consider ordering the double-chilli or multiple-chilli items. However, if you know your limits, consider the less hot items, such as the EQ honey chicken or ginseng fried chicken.

Other than that, Jean's Chilli Chicken is situated in Eastwood Hotel and shares the Hotel with the bar. A range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available, which can help wash down food. (Koreans love alcohol and chicken.) The place is a somewhat grubby and difficult to get around, particularly when the place fills as it is wont to do.

All things considered, we would (still) more than likely recommend Jean's Chilli Chicken. It is not secret that it is not the flashiest place or service might not be perfect, but the food, though expensive, is excellent.

Waited 50mins for a refund!!. Absolutly terrible service... I placed a order for 2 chicken schnitzels and waited and waited... everyone that ordered after me received their food before me. After 50 long minutes of waiting from hunger I walked to the counter to say something. The Korean man said there's a problem with your order. no apolligy just said I'll give you a refund. worst experience definitely never coming back. so rude and not even a sorry...

Good chicken. Had quite a feast yesterday trying out what Jean's had to offer - from their western foods of steak and chicken cutlet to the egg omelette and then the Korean foods like the clam soup, ginseng chicken and chilli cheese chicken. The chickens were delicious and just-right spicy I reckon, and we had them with the rice balls which was really good and lots of fun to make.

Besides that the location is also very nicely set out and staff are very nice.

Would definitely recommend this place to all!

Please Hold the chicken salt. Great place, nice ambiance and so on.

Went there 2 successive weeks because it was so convenient, and the pub parking is so helpful for my friend in wheelchair. First time we ordered calamari, and second time seafood basket and veal schnitzel.

Recommended.

However, if you don't like chicken salt, speak up when your ordering. I can't stand the stuff.

Must try!. Been here several times to try their Fire chicken and the fried chicken with rice balls!

PRO: both times the fire chicken and fried ginseng and sweet spicy chicken were absolutely beautiful and delicious! Their fire chicken tasted so good even though it was very spicy and was very addictive. The seating environment is nice, especially the outdoor seating area. Rice and side dishes provided tastes good with the mains !

CONS: Service is terrible, staff speaks minimal english and really have no manners and will not offer you much help. They plonk our food onto the table and leave, leaving us to go up to the counter ourselves to ask for water, napkins, cutlery and anything else. The seating area like tables and chairs are also quite dirty and sticky.

Overall, come here for the food, its totally worth it! But don't expect much service!

Why haven't anyone review this?. I guess this place is not very popular, although when I went there it was pretty busy (although there was no queue). I had chilli chicken and rice balls here about 4 years ago and I liked it. So last week I brought my husband to this place to have the same things. I still like it, and he likes it, too. The chilli chicken is VERY HOT, so be careful. However, if you add them to the rice balls and eat them together, it's not too hot anymore. The rice balls are very nice. Rice is seasoned with seaweed and something else that I don't know. for $25 dollars we got a portion of chilli chicken (big portion, enough for 2-3 people, depending how much you eat) and a big bowl of rice to be made into rice balls. However, if you want the staff to do the rice balls for you, you must pay extra. Making rice balls is not that hard though, and pretty fun too.
