I’m on a mission to find the best banh mi thit in Sydney and I told by a friend to try Lim’s Hot Bread in Eastwood. She told me Lim’s make up mega sized banh mi thit!

I found my way there easily enough as it is close to the railway station. Really friendly people at Lim’s which is a real plus. It’s a great looking bakery too. They have some really funky sounding fillings but I just want a traditional pork roll. A couple of minutes later, I’m walking out with my banh mi thit.

In comparison to the one I got last week at Viet Hao in Cabramatta, it would have been double the weight, easily! When I took it out, I couldn’t get over how generous they were with the filling.

It was loaded with pork and a very generous amount of pate. They also use green chilis instead. Heaps of greens too compared to the dingle sprig of coriander.

The roll could have been crunchier. It was just a bit too soft and it needed just a bit more sauce for my personal taste. All if that said, if you’re looking for a generous banh mi thit, the ones from Lim’s exceed anything I have had before.

Great service and pork rolls! Lovely family atmosphere, and definitely yummier than destination roll down the road. Highly recommend, and supporting a local Eastwood store :)

Really good pork rolls. Bread is fresh and crunchy. Good amount of pate and pork/carrot/veges.

They have a pulled pork roll which is also quite nice. Food is well priced

Very friendly staff

Old school Vietnamese bakery. Really wanted to try the pork roll, but already had lunch. Got a sweet pastry to go instead. The apple danish I got was definitely not "snacks" size, by far the biggest danish I've seen in a shop. I ended up cutting it in half for 2 snacks, and it was only $2.50. The best thing about this place though was the super friendly owners/couple behind the counter, greeting, smiling & having a chat with customers. This is what a good local neighbourhood bakery should be!

HUNGRY SUMMARY - Hidden gem in Sydney for pork rolls for those willing to trek to Eastwood.

FOOD - got the original pork roll, although I've also had their chicken roll and pork belly roll before as well. The Vietnamese pork roll here is a beaut! Crunchy bread, filled with greasy lard and pork goodness, topped off with the crunchiness of the carrots and the refreshment of the mint and shallots. Its no wonder pork rolls (banh mis) are a culinary gem. I could see it with more meat though

PRICE - $5. Good price for a good feed. (It used to be $3.50 but inflation oh well)

SETTING - Family run bakery that has been in Eastwood for years and years. They also sell cakes, bread and pies (which are also great). Friendly staff and definitely a great place for a pork roll outside the Vietnamese suburbs (Eastwood is Chinese/Korean).

The Vietnamese rolls here are soo good. Got the chicken, pork, and salad rolls and to be honest I see no difference in terms of how good it tastes so might as well get the salad. This one is not on the board but if you request for it they can make it for you. Not vegetarian as it still had pate but I’m sure you can ask for it be taken out also if you’re after a veg option.

Pretty filling, definitely more so than other places. They’re quite generous with the filling as well. To no surprise it seems like a popular spot for lunch on a weekday.

I also bought a loaf of their wholemeal sesame bread, which was clearly the best seller as this was the only section completely empty. Luckily they had one left sitting on the counter when I asked if there were any more. It was just normal bread to me but it’s about $2 so why not.

This is my favourite place in Eastwood that sells the best bread and pastries. You must try the banh mi vietnamese rolls here which are an absolute bargain for $4.50-$6 and the taste is amazing. The baguette is super fresh and crunchy, the veggies are refreshing, and they give you a generous serving of meat.

Pork roll is delicious and cheap ($4.50). It's a good meal if you want something quick. What amazes me though is their wholemeal sesame bread loaf. I've been recommending it to my friends because I can't go back to eating bread purchased from a supermarket. It's fresh and cheap ($2 for a loaf) so I highly recommend that everyone should try it.

Lim's Hot Bread is hands down the best bakery that serves authentic Bahn Mi. The bread is nice and crispy (they will also substitute the rolls for other rolls free of charge) and they don't skimp with the meat. The salad ingredients all taste fresh and the owners are super friendly. The pork rolls here are paired well with a refreshing Chatime drink, and often makes a cheap and filling meal.

If you ever swing by Eastwood, visit Lim's Hot Bread and hop in the queue. You won't regret a thing :)

At $4.50, it's pretty much the standard cost of a pork roll, and if you look at it as a meal, then it's pretty cheap. They are also quite generous with the meat - I've known places to barely give you any meat and just fill it up with salad - so I'd say it's worth dropping by to grab a quick lunch.

Unassuming bakery but it's clearly the best north & west of Sydney!! The bread range is great & well made , the cakes are superb & great value. Personal favorite is their Vietnamese rolls - haven't tasted any as good as theirs!!

Great value. Stumbled upon this gem by accident. Lots of variety of bread at a fraction of the price compared to Bakers Delight. They do good pork rolls too!

I was initially a bit skeptical about this place but at the end it was permissible. The way the roll was cut was off Centre so I thought it would collapse when bitten into but it seemed to work fine. The server was somewhat generous with the toppings but I noticed that they didn’t have the pink meat they put into the pork roll but had another alternative and they used green chilies instead of red. Tasted fine and fairly priced. The dude almost short changed me until I mentioned it but accidents happen.

Good god... the spinach and feta roll was mind-blowingly delicious... It has more spinach than feta, which I liked the most about it. My bf was eating this last week and I had a bite. Then I wanted to finish the entire thing myself.. I've been craving this everyday now. Too sad I don't live near the place.. Definitely coming back for this :( please try the roll guys.

I am not religious but if I were, Lim’s Hot Bread would be my church. I’ve been eating here for close to 20+ years now and it’s always been 10/10, would highly recommend! Fantastic value and quality! $5.50 for a roll, $6.50 for the crispy roast pork!

After moving to North Qld I've had the taste of a fresh pork roll for some time. So a call to Eastwood saw me at Lims Hot Bread. We tried the BBQ pork roll as well as the crispy pork roll. They were fresh juicy and full of flavour. Despite being a genourous size, I could definitely have had another but going out for dinner tonight. Oh well another visit will be needed before heading back north.

Crazy good value for money. These Bahn Mi rolls are absolutely delicious! I have visited Lim's Hot bread in Eastwood three times during these past two weeks (remaining Covid safe of course). The staff are super friendly and they pack a lot of filling into these rolls. Pork crackling is my favourite.

Headed to Eastwood to try the regular pork roll and chicken/pork combo rolls at Lim’s Hot Bread. Very good value and generous with fillings. They have quite a few meat options for the banh mi rolls, it would take a while to try them all. The staff are nice too.

The best place for a Banh Mi in the northern Sydney area, having tried everything on the menu the crispy pork crackling and bbq pork are two of the best flavours on offer. Generous with the fillings and the proportion of everything is perfect. Lovely family operated business, always warm towards customers. Been coming here for 5+ years and will continue to do so 🙂

Lovely people, reasonable prices. My go to for a 'banh mi'/roll fix when in the area. Good range of rolls to choose from, from the traditional pork roll to the crispy and their own custom recipes. Yummy yummy thanks for filling the tummy
