I really enjoyed the chicken here - skin was crispy and the meat was juicy. Their serving sizes are generous too. Staff were overall quite friendly too

I go here every time I want some Viet food from Eastwood and I can't be bothered to travel to Cabra / Bankstown.

It's pretty solid Pho choices - slightly pricier but Pho prices are going up anyways in most stores.

I have also tried the combination of crispy egg noodles which is awesome - good quantity and price.

The only 'disappointing' dish is the crispy chicken with tomato rice. The taste was kind of lackluster and I think the chicken could have been done better.

Such a good lunch spot, can't go wrong because it is cheap and filling. It does get really busy on weekends , there's usually a line but it is definitely worth it.

Crispy chicken is a very popular dish here and I recommend it! I got dry noodles, so much flavour in the noodles. The chicken was nice and crispy and I loved the sauce they put with the dry noodles.

Their broth has this strong herbal flavour with a hint of sweetness which is very unique. Most other places do pretty good but forgettable broth. If you like your pho with a pronounced herbal flavour, this place is your jam. Another element I liked about this pho is their thin and slightly chewy rice noodles. Beef was pretty average and never the highlight of pho for me so it’s perfectly fine.

Always hits the spot, juicy chicken, tomato rice and pickled veggies. Wish they also provided fresh veggies too though, but for $15 can’t complain

Ordered the egg noodles with crispy chicken. Tasted good, and the portion is very filling. It does get busy at lunch times, so you may have to wait a bit. Waiting time is normal.

They are famous of crispy fried chicken which is not disappointed at all!
Portion for noodle soup was generous, and I do love the combo of crab meat yellow soup that I’ve tried.
Broth was slightly thick and full of flavour!

We found this place by chances. Saw a line outside and think this must be good. We had dinner there and sure it does not disappoint. We had the special pho, crispy chicken and the curry. The portion is generous and well priced. We went back again and ended up ordering the same things due to being "safe". Will go back again.

This place has the best pho I’ve had in Sydney! It is always packed with people and extremely normal to see a long line queueing outside but their food is definitely worth it! I’ve also tried their fried chicken and drop noodles but the special beef noodle soup remains my favourite!

We felt like having a delicious Asian meal so we headed to Eastwood. Seriously - you really are spoilt for choice with so many wonderful Asian cuisines to choose from. After having a bit of a walk around, we decided to try Tan Viet Noodle House. There was a bit of a line up but we did not have to wait too long. To be honest - the wait was worth it!

There’s usually a line outside every time I walk pass this restaurant. Came around 6pm on a weekday and there was no line which is why I finally tried it. Food came really quick. Chicken skin was indeed very crispy and moist inside however a little lack in flavour but that’s what all the condiments on the table are for. Love to be offered the option to choose cooked bean sprouts where other Vietnamese restaurant seldom give.

Good Pho (the best in the area). Always a line out the front, but not much variety for other dishes (a lot less choice than typical Vietnamese restaurants). Still I do like to drop by when the wait is not too long

Very good Vietnamese food. Most of the time you’ll have to wait little bit. I think it’s worth it. The pho is very good, unlike some places where it is loaded up with msg. The crisp chicken is awesome, and the pork chops are yummy! Only if the service can improve little then it’s a five star

Though the crispy chicken is the restaurant's signature dish, I was also tossing with their pho which most of the other tables around us were eating when we came for late lunch.

The crispy chicken was delicious and tender, with crispy thin skin - which tasted even better with the spicy and slightly sweet sauce that accompanied the dish 😋 Out of the 4 options you can select to pair the chicken with (rice, egg/rice/drop noodles), I opted for egg noodles which came in a very generous portion with a light broth.

While other reviews have mentioned good service, today's trip to me did not reach this standard. Though not exactly rude, service from staff was not friendly either - a little on the cold side 👎🏼

This local gem located in the busy streets of Eastwood is our favourite Vietnamese restaurant. You will usually see a queue out front but it's worth the wait. The food portions are so generous.
👫Our top picks include the crispy chicken dry egg noodle or you can switch it up with any noodle or rice options!

Quite curious to see if the eastwood branch is as good as the original cabra one, so swung in to get a couple of takeaways.

Cubed rump beef w tomato rice 4/5, interestingly portion is wee smaller here but the beef was juicy n tender. As good as.

Deluxe broken rice w pork chop 3.25/5, came with a sunny side up, the pork was well marinated but somehow lacking in punch.. could be a one-off.

Service was quick n friendly. A defo return then.

There is always a long queue outside the restaurant during peak lunch and dinner time. The restaurant is only small and feels very cramp with tables very close to each other. But we come here for the food not the ambience.

This place makes the best Vietnamese crispy chicken and dry noodle in my opinion. Their beef rice noodle soup is equally as good. Deep fried Spring rolls are always freshly cooked and served with lettuce. Would be even better if it comes with mint leaves as well.

Parking is quite difficult. Don't bother trying to park on the street in front of the restaurant as 99% of the time you won't find any parking there. There is a multi level council car park behind the restaurant but could be difficult to get a spot too during peak times. Regardless, we still keep coming because of the crispy chicken.

Definitely a regular here! I come here at least once a week, whether it be with family, friends or even just to get take-away. I've tried the Tan Viet noodle house in Cabramatta and Canley Vale, and I can say with no doubt that this is the best one I've eaten at. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they always make small talk to make you feel like you're the only one addicted to the pho or crispy skin chicken! The food is consistently good, and tastes quite authentic. Although there is usually a bit of a line during meal times, it is certainly worth the wait to get your hands on the food at this restaurant.

Had a craving for Crispy Skin Chicken, so despite the long line for a busy Sunday lunch, I queued & waited along with a brunch of people. The staff here are very efficient, and the food comes out fast, so only had to wait for about 15 mins before I was seated, and another 10 mins for my food. I had the chicken (top notch of course!), with drop noodles this time. The bowl of noodles is massive, and the noodles itself had a good slightly chewy texture. Also got the cube rump steak & tomato rice to takeaway, the steak had good flavour, but not as juicy as I would like, the tomato rice was also a little bit dry. Will definitely be back for the crispy chicken again, but also keen to branch out and try their pho and the black herbal duck too.

To me Tan Viet is the best restaurant to have Crispy Chicken noodles in Sydney. The chicken always comes out hot & moist, with thin crispy skin. 👍

Besides their crispy chicken range, most of their other dishes that I've tried are very average. But hey, they specialise in crispy chickens, so just stick to that.

Coffee is too diluted for Vietnamese coffee.

A tiny restaurant that provides huge meals for a reasonable price at a quick rate. Apart from the Pho the popular dish is the crispy skin chicken served with either rice or noodles. I always opt for the hugely generous bowl of noodles with soup. Chicken is super crispy with thin skin and succulent tender meat. Great easy feast. Can't comment on ambience And staff as both are standard for this kind of restaurant.

Good option when we don't feel like trekking to Cabramatta. It's a pretty small space, so it can get crowded and queuey pretty quick.

Crispy skin chicken is these guys' deal so I really haven't tried anything else. I like the dry noodles (nice sauce in the bottom) and if you want some variety you can ask for mixed noodles.

Good stuff.

We just arrived before the long queue for dinner had formed. The atmosphere was like a typical restaurant in Eastwood, loud and vibrant.

I ordered a Crispy Skin Chicken with Tomato Rice and my partner ordered a Black Herbal Duck Noodle dish. We both got an iced coffee. The portions were very generous, we both couldn't finish our dishes.

We both enjoyed our dishes and would definitely come back again!

Arrived just before the lunch rush and was given a table straight away. I'd heard a lot about this place and boy I wasn't disapointed one bit! That moist, crispy, flavourful chicken was to die for! No wonder people queue up for it! (there was a queue of people outside not long after I got a table) You can opt to have the chicken with the tomato rice or the egg noodle soup. My rice was a little dry, but that might be why you get a bowl if soup with it. The noodles were firm as they should be. My iced coffee was nice and strong, but half the glass was foam so I wish there was more. Service was also pretty good and the food came out real fast. I was told that Tan Viet used to only serve the chicken and rice, but due to customer demand they started serving pho too. Maybe next time I'll try their pho, and order a side plate of the chicken!

We bought takeaway to eat at a good friend's house and obviously we got be famous crispy skin chicken with tomato rice - chicken skin remained crispy despite the 20 min drive and the chicken was very juice. The tomato rice was pretty good too. We also got the drop noodle - the texture of the noodle was awesome. It's little wonder why this place has massive queues every day

The famous Cabramatta crispy fried chicken has arrived in Eastwood! During the cooler months, a large warm beef pho noodle soup was exactly what we needed. The best thing about it, it does not charge public holiday surcharge. We arrived late one evening and was surprised that the Noodle House was completely occupied and there was a queue outside.

The wait was not long and the service was efficient. I ordered a beef pho and the serving size was more than generous with heaps of toppings. My friend ordered the famous crispy chicken and indeed they were still delicious.

If you want good vietnamese food in Eastwood this is the place to go. The crispy chicken is to die for. It's moist but doesn't have that greasy kind of feeling either.

The cubed rump steak with rice is also a nice option. They never overcook it so it's juicy and soft. Although I wish it had a bit of a smokey flavour to it so it draws out the beefy flavour.

Expect long waiting lines if you want to dine in though. The place is always packed. Takeaway is also a good option. The takeaway boxes aren't greasy either which is a bonus!!

Two words. Crispy chicken. it doesn't matter whether your preference is dry noodle, plaIn rice or tomato rice.

The chicken is very crispy and the sauce is so perfect can't fail it at all. My preference is dry noodle version.

Bottom line : Great food. Good service. Good Value for money.

The quality of this shop has improved since it first opened a few years ago. The noodle soup selection on their menu is good. Herbal duck egg noodle is my recommendation. I love the drop noodle (thick vermicelli noodle) menu because this is my favourite kind of noodle and I don't usually see them served in other places. The Vietnamese coffee is good, but it's not very consistent that it tastes kind of different each time I order it.

Only been the once. Had the pho and the chicken rice. The pho was brilliant. Such deep flavour to the broth. Loved it and shall be back to have it again. The chicken rice was dismal. The chicken was mediocre and the rice was not even that. No flavour whatsoever and brittle and dry. I have heard people rave about the crispy skin chicken however so perhaps I just ordered the wrong dish. I'll be sure to review and update my rating after my next visit!

CHEAP EAT CHAMPIONS!!
The thing that blows my mind about Tan Viet (both Eastwood and Cabramatta) is how damned consistent these guys are. Tan Viet's claim to fame is the crispy skin chicken and for good reason too. It's always, always crispy. And always, always delicious. I've had this same dish at dozens of other Vietnamese cheap eat cafeterias but Tan Viet is still champion of the classic "mi ga don."

The chicken flesh is so succulent and juicy it boggles the mind. How do you deep fry a piece of chicken at a high oil temperature to get such crispy skin, without drying out the meat? What are they marinating this chicken in to get such a uniquely flavoursome and moorish chicken? Who knows. Who cares?! When you sit down and order your crispy chicken and noodles (with soup or dry with a special sauce) none of this will matter because all you'll be doing is umming and ahing about how good it is.

If you're not sold on the chicken because you're not willing to ingest some chicken fat (if you're not what are you doing on Zomato?), Tan Viet also do some other fantastic dishes. My two other favourites have to be the classic pork chop rice with sunny side egg on top (com dac biet). The lemon grass marinated pork chop is some seriously tasty stuff. And if on a cold winters night you happen to feel crook with a flu bug of some sort go with the herbal duck noodle soup - the shiitake mushroom duck broth will get you back on your feet in no time!

At an average of $12 per plate or bowl at Tan Viet you can't go wrong here. Do it.

The Tan Viet Noodle House is very popular in Cabramatta. The Eastwood version seems to be very popular as well buzzing full of hungry patrons. So you no longer have to venture to Cabramatta for a satisfying and delicious meal. Its 90% like rate on urbanspoon is on the right pulse for a casual meal on a cold day.

I still remember the first time I heard of this place in Cabramatta (This is the Eastwood branch).

The lines were out the door. The wait to be seated was over 30 minutes despite the fast turnover. It was labelled the best crispy chicken to have. I did my thang back then and stood in line and remembered that when I finally bit into that chicken it was so crispy the skin cut my lip.

I'm glad that nowadays its a chain restaurant and you can start finding them in closer locations without the trek out to Cabramatta.

My favourite is the Egg Noodle Crispy Chicken combination with the soup already drowning my noodles. Soup is a loose term for it. It's MSG water.

I enjoyed the story my friend told me that he started calling it MSG water as well because back in high school, I use to call it that. The influence definitely came from my parents where they would not let me drink too much of the soup because it was bad for me.

You could alternatively pair your crispy chicken with red rice and some pickled vegetables.

Normally I'd pair my meal up with a 3 coloured drink. It's basically a dessert not that different from Halo Halo, where it contains mung beans, shaved ice, jelly and coconut sugar syrup. This place serves it with some peanuts on top which I quite enjoyed.

Have a taste from this great chain. The dishes should set you back around $13.

There's a fasination with Vietnamese food lately in Eastwood. About 3 new stores have popped up over the past 1-2 years, adding to the 2 that's been around for many years. (And no that Viet store opposite IGA doesn't count - horrors) Not that I'm complaining. On the Meetfresh side alone there're 2, and 2 more on the other side of the road. I call this the Pho-Craze week - where I try out 3 of them in one week, with the 4th one being a usual 'go-to' place in the past. But it is 'go-to' no more - let me show you. I will blog the other places later. Word about the signiture Crispy Chicken dish at Tan Viet have been going around, and well, I thought 'Why would I deprive myself of such beautiful chicken?' In we go to Tan Viet, and I have to say, their tiny menu is surprising. (Short of being cute, though.) The variety is small, but what they have on offer sounds delicious. I take mental note of several other dishes I ought to try next time. We go ahead and order the famous Crispy Chicken, y

On most nights you will find the restaurant packed with people lining up for a seat. The reason for the hype is the crispy skin chicken which is their speciality. The crispy skin chicken ($13.00) is probably the main reason you will find yourself at Tan Viet. The other dishes are OK - although nothing as spectacular as this.

The chicken skin reminded me of the skin you get at fine Peking duck restaurants. The meat was also extremely moist and would’ve been an amazing dish by itself if someone had decided to peel all the skin off. Tan Viet offers some lemon and dipping sauce but I barely utilised it. The chicken tastes fine on its own. As simple as fried chicken sounds, it’s really easy to get wrong. You’ve got to pre-cook the chicken and fry it afterwards. I’ve had this dish at home and it just wasn’t as good as the nice piece of chicken I was enjoying in Tan Viet.

Tan Viet has been synonymous with crispy chicken for quite some time, and with good reason! With outlets at Cabramatta and Canley Heights, they provide chicken that is crispy not crispy because of any 'aids' like batters or breadcrumbs, but from it's own...chickenyness. Naturally, when restaurants in Australia seem to thrive on variety - have you seen Asian restaurants with a menu as long as your arm? - I just had to find out how anyone has managed to specialise in a particular thing to such a degree. If you go at dinner time, there is usually a loooooong queue out the door. Sometimes I wonder if the whole of the Eastwood population is split between them, and Pho Nam Viet next door. Thankfully, the turnover is super quick, and harried looking staff usher you to a table where you're sitting elbow to elbow with the other diners. More atmosphere! I ended up ordering the crispy chicken with tomato rice, which came with a side of pickles. On a personal level, this meal is large enough for t

When they opened (a while back now) they didn't do pho tai (rare beef noodle soup) but they now have it on the menu and it's glorious - best pho around.
Oh and also new to the menu are pork and prawn spring rolls. They are also great.
