Review Yx Mini Hot Pot - Eastwood

Ingrid Takacs
What a cool hot pot place recommended by a friend. Lots of space even with our bulky pram. The quality of food is great with attentive staff. The website said 2h eating limit but we were told 1h 45m? We went with our 4.5m old curious and alert baby so we had to be careful as everything is hot. There is no baby change table and disabled toilet was very small.

Good hot pot. Food was on par with the best hot pot in Sydney. The staff were attentive. The decor looked impressive but rips in the seats belied its age. The background music was a little funereal and with the dark decor it created a bit pf a downer vibe. Will definitely go back for the food though! Hot tip: If you're using the English version of the menu, the noodles are under 'Refreshments'

One of my favourite hot pot places. You get your individual hot pot. And the best thing is that they the best soup bases. Their meat, seafood, mushrooms/fungi, vegetables and dessert selections are one of the most extensive. Both their city and Eastwood shops offer the loveliest and a cosy setting. I didn't have to talk over other people to be heard by my group. That's always a huge plus!

Well prepared and presented food. Seafood are super fresh. Must try the eel. Others dishes are also nice as expected. Pricey but worth a visit. Guess the price tag takes the decor into account as well. Service could be better. Some staff are professional with high standard but a few there are so so.

I get the tomato and chicken soups and enjoy it. Prices for meat and veg not too bad and portion sizes reasonable. Lots of condiments to make your own sauce. Service is really quick, I recommend trying

Hot pot place with a beautiful interior design, surely make’s you feel your somewhere in China. I really like their soup base.

Best hot pot place in Sydney 😃 Awesome environment and make you feel like travelled to ancient city in Asia. The soup bases have real ingredients that you can see, like a whole abalone in the soup.

With the pandemic still at large we looked for a hotpot venue that wasn't a buffet style but served their food a la carte style. My friend found this place and it was perfect. Everything looked clean and tasted fresh. My friend had half oxtail and tomato soup base whilst I had the super spicy soup with extra spice. Service was quick and easy - we ordered using screens situated at our table but there are waiters you could call attention to who can help you. Loved that there was an option to order a jug of drinks. Overall I think it was reasonably priced as well.

Just wanted to set some realistic expectations to avoid disappointment (how I felt, with others feeling similar).

There's a lot of work put into the interior including Chinese styled balcony doors, paintings and roof tiles. There's also a blue skylight on top depicting the birds and the sky which may feel like you're immersed in China. It's great for photos and tourist attraction as it definitely stands out and is quite a view!

It stops there unfortunately as the view is only essentially captured when you're on top of the stairs. So for instance if you're sitting on the bottom floor, it really just feels like your regular restaurant booth.

Service is fine and it was nice for the waitress to arrange table space according to dishes finished, adding more etc. Food however, is pricey and portions are small. Expect to pay about $60pp to get full (we spent $44pp but was barely satisfied), and we didn't order anything fancy.

But if you don't mind spending $$$ and get some gorgeous photos (try to get a seat upstairs if possible the interior stands out more up there), then definitely do visit for that one of a kind experience.

This is the first time I have attended a hotpot place that has individual mini pots and I am in sheer heaven. There were so many amazing cuts of meat, beautiful fresh seafood and of course every glorious trim of vegetable, noodle, tofu and more. I was blown away by the venue itself; it is no surprise that they have won awards for the interior, you are transported into China itself, absolutely amazing.

I have been to hotpot before but this is world class. The trims of meat, the range of food and the services were outstanding. Could not speak more highly of a venue, the food and the service. I cannot wait to return with family to enjoy this once again. Brilliant.

Amazing dining experience. Starting with the award winning decor, it was like taking a step back in time to ancient China: walls adorned with ornate timber panelling, lanterns hanging from the windows of private rooms and the most beautiful hand painted ceiling depicting a sky filled with cranes.

This was matched by the amazing quality of hot pot components like the angus and wagyu beef, fresh barramundi and prawns, choice of soups and sauce bar, which were all presented in spectacular fashion. We're talking dry ice people!!🌬

For those uninitiated, Hot Pot is a traditional Chinese meal where you have a pot of hot soup and dip in a series of raw meats, seafood and vegetables to create your own customised dining experience. Its so much fun to choose your own adventure and a great group activity, especially in this cold weather!

Eastwood is their flagship location and it is totally worth the visit to be a part of such an immersive dining experience that you'll be sure to remember

Really enjoyed my hot pot experience at YX mini hot pot! The atmosphere and interior itself was extra but quite nice and there are touch screens where you can pick from a wide range of meats, fish balls, vegetables, hand made noodles etc. which are presented beautifully. There is also a wide range of soup broths and you can pick if you want one or two broths (I got the spicy and tomato base and found that to be a good balance). Definitely expect a wait if you’re planning to dine on the weekend during peak hour.

The food was yummy and staff were nice and cooperative
This place gets busy so we made sure to make a reservation beforehand (recommended for groups). The interior of the restaurant makes eating here an enjoyable experience. Food is of good quality and served quickly. Only downside is that it is quite expensive (approx $55-60pp).
Anna
The vegan broth was decent but could do with a bit more flavour. Many veggies and tofu varieties to choose from. Overall was a very enjoyable meal but very pricey as well. Around $100 for 2. Service was nice also.

When it comes to hot pot, nothing can go wrong! With the perfect soup base and fresh ingredients! You can literally stay there all day if you can!
What I love is the variety of sauces, and I got to love the spicy flavour soup! It was just perfect!

This restaurant is one of a kind - beautiful decor and the indoor sky setting! While dining, it takes you back to the time when you were in China! Or for those who haven’t been, it’s like taking you to China for the first time!

In my opinion, this place has a great ambiance and the food quality was great. Food was pretty quick to come and service was pretty decent for a hotpot place.

The only negative is the price. It is a bit pricey but understandable if they're going for a more 'high quality' hotpot place.

If you're looking for a cheap hotpot feed, this isn't the place to go. Otherwise, I would recommend it for everything else :)

Food is very fresh though it’s a bit expensive, service and atmosphere are great. Soups are nice too.

Overly expensive with average food. We expected the bill to come at $40 but it came to $97. Would not recommend this place because of how expensive it was. The service was prompt and the place had very nice interior design.

Amazing service and the place is gorgeous! 🥰🥰

Great service very attentive staff. It’s quite overpriced however and not great quality. The dishes are very small but look very pretty. Nice atmosphere too.

This is a beautifully decorated restaurant located right next to the Glen St carpark. As we live in the area, we didn't really know what the fuss was about but noticed that the restaurant was always popular. (And hey, it was good enough for Jay Chou to visit this joint). When a groupon deal came up, we decided to try it, and that's when we understood why.
The service is efficient and very attentive. We were told to make our sauces at a sauce station. There were some suggestions of combinations that we followed. The pot with soup bases are placed on individual induction stoves. The soup bases are all very high quality, you could just enjoy the soup by itself. My favourite is the chicken with herbs. All the meats/vegetables and other ingredients are beautifully presented and of high quality. We enjoyed every bit of it.

Was deciding between 4⭐️ or 5⭐️ as Zomato doesn’t have a 4.5⭐️. Basically a very nice environment eatery with super super friendly and helpful staff. I haven’t been to a particular (which I won’t name) famous wolf wide chain in Sydney but they staff here will give the original ones in China a run for they money!! Kudos!

We had the lamb and beef combo set, beef balls, lettuce leaf, tofu skins and got a mini pot each with the kids sharing one. FYI kids under 10 do not need to order one but I figured it will be good experience for the kiddo to have their own. Soups we tried were:
Ox tail with tomato, chicken with stock & the dual sour fish + spicy stock.
They all have 1 thing in common. Super tasty but... oily.
I suppose the trade off was do we drink they soup but ingest the oil? Now you may understand why I wanted 4.5, nevertheless it was a pleasant dinner experience! Will come back again next season.

Nice atmosphere, fast clean service. We recommend the deep fried rice cakes. The chicken broth was bland. We would come back to try other dishes on the menu.

I rarely give out 5 stars but I loved how vintage yet adorable the layout of this joint is! You feel like you’re eating in a palace. I ordered the half and half soup (tomato and pickled fish) and the name sounds unappealing but my god, trust that the taste is sensational. We ordered the meat platter, some seafood, mushroom basket, scallops and more. It is a little on the pricier side but I think it is well worth for the quality of food that is presented

I highly recommend to those who are hot pot fanatics, a perfect meal for a cold winter day in Sydney. I will definitely be returning to YX Mini Hot Pot. Some of the staff aren’t fluent in English but we still got our message across, otherwise good service.
Jasmine
Yummy broths! Essential sauce choices are there, although there could be more varietie. The seafood platter was ok, but would not order again. We like the beef slices, not the best quality but was still quite soft and decent amount.

This is probably one of the most premium hot pot joints in Sydney. The moment you enter the restaurant, it feels like you have been transported to a different world. You are immediately greeted by soothing background music and flowing water. The interior decor is so refined and resembles traditional chinese villas back in the olden days. What was most visually striking though is the hand painted ceiling. Yes, hand painted!! .
.
The food , on the other hand, is on a whole other level. No expenses have been spared with their ingredients. They are the freshest of fresh (nothing frozen). The presentation is even more impressive, every dish looks like a work of art (the “carrot house” on the fish dish took 4 hours to carve!, comes with dry ice and LED lights 😆). Overall it was an outstanding dining experience and I would gladly go back again and again !
Anna
Love everything from the interior design to the individual mini hot pot here. The service is absolutely amazing and they only serve premium meat and seafood.

Amazing food! Love the chilli and tomato soup base! Have to try the Jade Perch. Certainly worth the drive!

Staff are friendly and the decor is amazing, have to get a seat upstairs to look down at the pond.

We came here as a group of 9 girls for a friend's birthday party. For our private room with a mahjong table and kareoke, our minimum spend was $1000.

Everyone choose their own soup base. If you get the chicken abalone soup base, it comes with 1 mini abalone inside.

We ordered mini abalone, scallops, prawn paste, lamb, fresh fish, beef, pork, vegetables, fried bread that you dip in condensed milk X2,fried sweet rice cake X 3, fish balls etc

You can also order milk tea and fruit tea from KingTea, which we did.

After all the eating we still had $170 left to spend so we ordered 2 bottles of wine and 4 bottles of Soju.

Our waitress was so good, attentive, cleared the table when needed, brought food in pretty fast, helped us set up the mahjong table.

Overall great experience, money well spent

Had a very fantastic experience at here. The beef plate was amazing! The tomato hotpot is my favorite! The hot pot also go quite well with seafood. We tried the seafood plate. The fish was very tender and fresh. Highly recommend.

Booked on a Tuesday for a session on Saturday the girl on the phone said the latest time they take for bookings is 5:15PM.

So we booked even though it knew it was a bit early for dinner but since it was for a special occasion we decided to go ahead with it.

Much to our shock when we got there they had no record of our booking. They even said we probably rang the other store in which we showed our phone record which indeed showed the eastwood branch.

So by being there at 5:15pm they didn’t have a spot until 7pm we decided to walk away and go next door to eat instead.

YX hot pot Eastwood interior was pretty cool, with the details and fake sky ceiling. Food was yummy and delicious. It was my first time ever trying hot pot so I was immediately impressed. We had to wait for over an hour one cold evening to get a table, but i felt it was worth the wait.

They had touch screens to order your sides, that was handy, because there’s images to show what the sides looked like. The quality of the sides looked fresh and appetising, the pricing maybe a bit expensive but worth it for groups. Mushroom soup was delicious.

I like how each person gets their own mini hot pot and it’s actually on a mini electrical stove, so the soup was always nice and hot.

Great indoor ambience! Everything is ordered through pad on the wall, fancy!! Mini Pot is great for ppl who prefer different soup base. They have lots of stuff you don’t often seen in other hot pot place. Only thing is they do not accept reservations so you will have to line up early....

The service was impeccable, very helpful and the staff did everything with a smile. Never had to ask for a top up of anything. I loved the soups.. mushroom, seafood and the tomato!! Can’t wait to go back.

Went on 6pm on the Friday and still had a lot of empty space.

Order the Fish soup and spicy soup. The spicy soup was toooooooo oily! But the fish soup was nice! Very less variety for choose but nice environment. The portion was small and you had to order more and end up it became overpriced.
YX Mini Hot pot is Eastwood’s hottest new attraction.

Be prepared to queue for hours as they do not take reservations

Decor is amazing and service is on point.

We tried multiple soup bases and pretty much everything on the menu, it was all top quality product.

Definitely a place to check out

This place draws you in with it's ornate and imperialistic decor and keeps you coming with its sauce bar, quick service and fresh ingredients. This was my first hot pot experience dining-out, so I didn't have any expectations going in. The restaurant was relatively quiet on the Thursday night we arrived so no need for a booking.

A few general pointers:

1. You get your own mini hot pot where you choose a soup base for your dish (single or double). I chose the double-base with spicy/mushroom combo ($11.80). The mushroom soup had a nice flavour and was light but flavourful enough to have by itself. The spicy soup however was intense. It was heavily spiced with aniseed, cardamon, star anise and Sichuan peppercorn and functioned more like a hot chilli oil dipping sauce than a 'soup.' I barely touched mine bc it was too heavy and the layer of chilli oil was too intense. I wouldn't recommend this for a first timer.

2. You choose the sides that you want in your hotpot. We ordered the noodle/tofu combo ($16.80), high fibre thread ($5.50), chinese cabbage ($6.50), beef slice ($12.80) and the meatball combo ($16.80). All was more than enough for three people.

I would definitely recommend the beef slice (frozen but good quality) and the mushroom sauce at the sauce buffet, everything else is up to your liking ☺️

Impressed with their Chinese feel interiors design. Food is very fresh and well presented. Love their soup so much and quite authentic. Plum juices go really well if you have the spicy hot soup based. Staff is very friendly even though quite busy in this place. If you come in a group of 6 ppl, is better take reservations, otherwise you have to wait for at least 1-2hours. But it's worth it . Will come back again 👍👍

After reading the other review and having seen the crowds at the front of this place, I decided to give it a go.

It is quite a large restaurant with 2 floors. There is a large car park next door but it's very difficult to find parking. The decor is breathtaking and really transported me to mainland China. I have never been to mainland China. But this restaurant convinced me that I was having the authentic experience. There is a painted 'sky' with birds that is a must-see and photo experience.

I arrived here at around 5:30pm on a Saturday night. There was already a significant queue to obtain a ticket for a table. When it was my turn, I was told it might take until 7:15pm, but if we waited around, it could be quicker. I had called earlier and they said they didn't take bookings for tables less than 6 people and they would open at 5pm.

It turned out the first part was right but they had in fact been open all day. If I had known I would have shown up earlier. GRRR.

Anyway, we decided to wait around, and after a 1 hour wait, was finally shown to our table. At the table, we proceeded to order the food using the screen.

Food was delivered promptly and not long after I was cooking my beef slice in my chicken soup.

Taste
The soup was very well flavoured. I had the chicken soup, others on my table had the same or the mushroom soup. Everyone commented that the soup was quite flavoursome. They were also very attentive to refilling the soup, asking several times during my dining time there if I needed a refill. This is important in hot pot as if there is no soup you can't cook any food.

The meat was very thin, so thin that it cooked within 30 seconds of it being in the pot. The mushrooms were fresh and delicious as well.

Condiments
There is a long table of condiments for you to mix and scoop yourself. However, I find this area to be slightly unhygienic with people test tasting the condiments from the communal bowl.

Atmosphere
I loved the atmosphere here - the decor was very China.

Service
The front of house service needs improvement. They called out ticket numbers but I could barely hear them due to the noise. Furthermore, they told me that they opened at 5pm when in fact they were open all day during the weekends.

All in all, I would visit this restaurant again. It is very cosy and the food very delicious. Just make sure you arrive early!

Waited 2 hours!

Yuxiang Mini Hot Pot is a Chinese restaurant that serves hot pot in mini pots, hence the name. It is located next to Plus Fitness 24/7 with minimal parking at the front. Ideal for large groups and child friendly but not parents with prams.

Hot pot is a pot of stock (any flavour you like such as chicken, seafood, spicy) that you boil in front of you on a mini stove or equivalent and cook to your liking a selection of meat, seafood and vegetables. You then dip your cooked food in condiments for added flavour.

We had finally made it a date to come for dinner as it was highly recommended to us. Perfect for the freezing cold nights. My husband tried to contact them on several occassions with no luck to see if we could make a booking. Apparently when we enquired when we arrived, they could not provide an answer for not answering their phone. Not sure what is the purpose of having a contact number if noone can get hold of you.

When we arrived at 6:30pm, there were groups of people waiting outside. As I went to put my name down, there were more people waiting inside. I was told by front of house staff that it would be an hour wait but she put 20:30pm on my ticket. I was confused as an hour wait would make it 19:30pm. I went to clarify this with her and she said we can wait up to 2 hours! The customer service for front of house staff were poor. Not friendly. There was barely anywhere to stand or sit. To tame our hunger, we sipped on water from the water jug and Asian crackers that staff refilled a couple of times.

My first impression of the restaurant was 'wow'. It was fitted out in traditional fixtures with a ceiling that looks like you are looking at flying birds during the day. Just beautiful. There was also a lady at the top of the stairs playing a traditional string instrument throughout the night.

There is a paper menu but also a computer screen that you can pre order your dishes whilst waiting and just hand your ticket to the waiter when you are seated. There is also a computer screen at your table to order and to call a waiter. We pre-ordered a stock soup, chicken and mushroom soup, a jug of plum juice, white noodle, udon noodle, tofu, super meat combo, basa fish fillets, spinach, mushroom combo and fried pork. Because there were no pictures, we just assumed that portions were small.

After 2 hours we were seated upstairs. Finally! The waiter was pleasant. The hot plates were fitted into the table. The food came relatively quick as we pre-ordered. The plum juice was nice but a bit sweet, not enough ice. The stock soup was a white colour from the dried Asian herbs added, it was okay. The chicken and mushroom soup was separated in the one pot. Flavours were okay. There were some goji berries and red dates. Every dish was presented nicely and fresh. I was most impressed with the meat displayed like a flower. The fried pork was nice, crispy and had enough flavour. It was way too much food for us.

There was a range of condiments to choose from including shallots and fresh chopped chilli.

Verdict: Go early if you can otherwise be prepared to wait. The fried pork and plum juice should be considered. Front of house staff customer service needs improvement.
