Travel 50 minutes one way to get to this restaurant. Staff are friendly and welcoming, attentive and happy. Have always enjoyed our meals. Had the lamb shank last night. Delicious. We have dined inside and outside and really enjoy the atmosphere of this place. Thanks for another great evening. Well worth the drive.
walked in to the restaurent on a freezing night. was nice and warm inside the restaurent. greet and offer the menu as we walked in. freindly staff. quick service. to top it up all, nicely presented delicious food. highly recomended. keep it up the good work..thumbs up
The service was very good. Nice relaxing place with several different seating areas to cater for all needs - eg, courtyard, comfy couch seating, open fireplace, small & large tables. Food was lovely & Bloody Mary hit the spot & fired up the taste buds with lots of Tabasco. I spent over 2hrs here & didn't feel pressured to leave. Really enjoyable place. Will be back
Loved visiting Elsternwick after so many years. Found a cafe that is top rated. A cafe, breakfast and bar all in one combined.
Busy Sunday morning, my coffee was hot and my food came out so quick! Delicious bagel with perfect poached egg, bacon n smashed avo. Yum! Happy friendly staff too, keep up the good work!

Frequent this place on a regular basis. Great coffee, food and staff. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
Amazing chai. Great variety of food and desserts. It's a place with different environments to enjoy reading a book, a birthday or a casual lunch.
Great staff, great atmosphere and even better food. Would gladly come back and spend my money here anyday!!
Really nice place for having dinner and enjoy a couple of cocktails, I come here every weekend.Goat House is doing all the things well which I'm looking for in a restaurant/bar. Chilled atmosphere, lovely customer service and great daily specials.
To sum it up, Stay as you are :)
I come here once a week & usually with my 3 year old.
The staff are always friendly & welcoming.
Last time miss 3 was being a terror when I was trying to pack up to go (I was clearly embarrassed by her behavior)
The staff were wonderful & turned her angry manor by kindly distracting her with marshmallows. Thanks guys
Excellent food and service. Great atmosphere. We love the Veg Stack, recently discovered. Delicious and so are the loose leaf chai's.
Excellent establishment! A very pleasant environment with well trained professional and courteous staff.
Great food too.
Hats off to the Manager who has ensured all the positives.
perfect! first, you enter a huge space with a very nice vibe! the sunny terrace is perfect for a lazy Sunday morning, coffee is nice and strong, food is amazing and prepared with care and quality ingreedients. Most imortantly, service is very kind and for me that is a crucial factor when chosing a cafe. Five stars today!
Delicious lamb shank! Ordered it via Ubereats and was packed carefully to ensure it arrived it top presentations. Rich sauce, fresh veggies (brocollini and potatoes) and tender lamb.
First time trying something a bit more gourmet as a takeaway dish during Stage 4 lockdown, and certainly wasn’t disappointed. $25 too, representing good value.

Goat House seems to be very popular with the locals of Elsternwick so it was great to try it out on Saturday night.
We ordered the chicken burger, steak, mulled wine and a beer. My chicken burger was 5/5. The bun they used was soft and fluffy - perfect for burgers. It was a generous portion size and not too saucy. I did ask for no bacon, and it was served with bacon but no drama as it was easy enough to take out. The steak was cooked to perfection and my partner enjoyed his meal too.
The mulled wine was nice, however it wasn't hot enough and got very cool way to quickly (the restaurant itself was a bit cold too). Staff were nice and super attentive, potentially a little bit overboard as they cleared our plates before we were completely done. However this is during covid19 so perhaps they have extra staff on which is definitely better than understaffed.
I can imagine this place will be great on a Summer's evening!
First time customer, I had the crispy skin salmon with Soba noodles and vegetables, it was delicious.
Had a very pleasant Sunday lunch at the goat house. Food was tasty, staff were friendly and they have a lovely outside area for sunshiney days. We had the pork sliders and steak sandwich. Both very good!
Cosy laidback restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Stopped by for a bite to each for lunch with a friend.
🍴calamari - crispy battered calamari. Not chewy. Nice salad t accompany. Wagyu beef burger - meat patty was juicy and had a good amount of sauce. Chips were crispy and well seasoned.
💁🏼♀️ quick service. Friendly staff.
Food is delicious and reasonable prices. We all had barramundi which was on the specials board. We were not disappointed. Atmosphere was lovely. Coffee was ok but not great. There was also a warm fire which made it a great place to be on a rainy day. Service excellent. Will definately come back
Best espresso martini’s I’ve had in a long time! Nice and strong, but with a bit of sweetness! I also really like their burgers, have had both chicken and beef. I always have an enjoyable experience here and it’s a reliable and delicious choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner :)
Came here for breakfast for a smashed avo and a coffee, the service was amazing and the atmosphere was great, quick and clean, a little bit pricey paying $22 for a smashed avo but that’s Melbourne for you!
Was a wonderful place to meet my daughter! Had a Yummy breakfast and a lovely tea! The service was really good too! We will Definitely come back!
Great place to go at winter. They have a fireplace burning in the corner and hot rod heaters to support. Cheap and cheerful with great quality food. Sharing platters are good value and yummy.
Went here the other day with padre Francesco. I had the chicken burger which was on point as a pen about to hit the paper. Flavours went together so well and the bun was perfect with it. Complimenti a tutti.

The Goat House is one of the few places that has managed to succeed at it all: breakfast, afternoon and evening drinks, lunch, dinner, and, of course, coffee. Located on the popular Glen Huntly Road in Elsternwick, it looks more like a pub than a local coffee shop for a strong latte before your morning commute. Yes, the station is opposite.
Excellent place , great location
Wasn’t doing well for a while but looks like it’s been taken over, the menu is much better than it used to be, the staff are friendly and helpful and they’re open for dinner as well
Bonus !!
A lovely place just close to Elsternwick strain station, nice food and friendly stuffs with very good service. Will be there again very soon.
One of my local cafes this place is normally buzzing on a sunny weekend. Located next to Elsternwick station and the park. With the ability to sit indoors or outdoors this place boasts a perfect interior to meet your fancy.

We were lucky enough to be invited to this cafe. The cafe is conviniently located right next to the train station. It is very spacious with both indoor and outdoor seatings.
We started with some fresh juices, they were refreshing. Then we ordered wagyu beef burger, Fusion salmon soba. The wagyu was amazing the meat patty was juicy. The salmon soba was flavourful similar to ones in Asia. We finished off with pancake stack. It was a perfect combination of fruits, crumbles, ice cream and raspberry sauce. The pancake texture was fluffy we really enjoyed it.
The staff was really friendly and attentive
I come to Goat House quite often. Their food is great and the menu has lots of options. They always have specials going - so good value for money. If you’re going for dinner it’s probably a safe bet to book a table online so you don’t wait - this place is popular.
Large environment with heaps of seating. Perfect for a larger group and good for a couple. Menu is diverse and has a nice mix. Coffee is great as is the service. Pricing is normal for the type of food. Recommend for lunch.
My wife and I have been eating here very frequently for the last 3 years. The food are all delicious, the staff are very friendly, all in all a very great experience for us.
Had dinner there tonight. The food was well presented and delicious. The service was excellent! Staff were very friendly and helpful. The kids also enjoyed their meals.

Our go to place for steaks and a glass of mulled wine. The staff are super nice and friendly! I must mention the time I was a bit down when they changed the sauce for the steaks, and the staff offered to accommodate my request to provide the sauce that I wanted. Great points for going that extra mile!
Booked online which i much prefer than ringing and speaking to answering machines. I had the grilled salmon with soba noodles, broccolini & capsicum which was delicious. The Moroccan lamb and salad was ‘quite nice’ the chicken burger was ‘good’and the vegan bowl was ‘ok’ as rated by others at the table. Friendly and quick service.
After a day out on the lash, The Dear Luncher stumbled into The Goat House with no idea about to expect having never seen or heard of this venue before.
It’s hard for the Secretary of Steak (aka The Dear Luncher) to resist a rib-eye steak when it’s noticed on the menu. Particularly when it’s a measly $34. This is cheap for this kind of cut.
Now, it has to be said due to the intoxicated state The Dear Luncher was in, the taste and enjoyment of this particular meal may have been, shall we say, artificially enhanced. That being said, it was very hard to fault this steak. Moreover, the crispy pancetta and croquettes it came with – were out of this world good. The croquettes oozed with a melted cheese that melded itself with the steak beautifully. The pancetta added an extra pang of saltiness with each bite. A very impressive combination of flavours.
All others that were dining with The Dear Luncher were extremely satisfied as well. A venue worth visiting again.
Great local café with always a friendly greeting, attentive service even during busy times, come here often for their fabulous coffee made with their house roasted beans and a served with a smile.
Hanging out with friends in Elsternwick. Nice atmosphere with charming rustic decor. Very friendly staff. Consistently delicious food and coffee.
Amazing experience from beginning to end. The booking process was easy, and the staff were very helpful when I needed to change the booking time and number of people. There were 15 of us in total. A friendly staff member made it clear she would be looking after our table. She took the orders and made sure the meals were given to the correct people who ordered. The food was fresh, plentiful, and wonderfully presented. The staff were also very patient, and accommodating to split the bill (it was a very big table). Well done!! Great service!!
I came here for a late brunch the other day.
Had the avocado smash and it was so good and reasonably priced! Staff were also attentive which is always a bonus.
Looking forward to returning for dinner.
I was very eager to try Goathouse café as I've heard very good things about this restaurant and I wasn't disappointed at all! I walked in and was greeted by a staff member show showed me to my table. She was friendly and asked whether I wanted a coffee straight away. Walking, the decorum was incredible - it an awesome interior with wine bottles arranged on the walls and a coffee section with beans which I think they sell. It was a shame that it was raining as the outside seating area next to the park looked gorgeous. I ordered a latte and it was tasted just the way I like it.
The friendly waitress came over and took our orders. We ordered the Classic French Toast which came with challah bread, lemon-lime curd topped with seasonal fruits, pistachio crumble, lemon mascarpone and a side of maple syrup. My colleague ordered the avo breeze which came with roasted pumpkin and spinach puree on multi-grain toast topped with smashed avocado, marinated feta, cherry tomatoes, roquette and a broken poached egg. The food came out very quickly which was great as we both were very hungry.
The meals looked immaculate on the plate. The ingredients looked fresh, tasted great and very filling. The challah melted in your mouth and the fruits with the tangy lemon-lime curd really accompanied the meal well. The avocado smash was delectable and the poached egg was cooked perfectly drizzling over the toast (see photo). We were both extremely pleased with our meals.
Overall, I was satisfied with my experience today, the staff were friendly, the food was delicious and the restaurant ambience was a 10/10 - what more could you ask for? The prices of the meals were not expensive and you definitely get your value for money. I would highly recommend coming to this place for brunch and I can't wait to return, possibly for dinner!
This is a bit of a local spot for me with good food and service. My partner and I had the Mr Hock as we've had it before and it's always been tasty and a very generous serve. When I came in earlier this week it was very busy and that meant my food came out before my coffee which isn't ideal when I ordered my coffee before my meal! When the coffee did finally come out (had finished my food) it was decent however I would have appreciated an apology for the wait. The poached eggs were cooked properly however were a tad watery. Overall a good feed, I will be back

Laziness, an empty fridge and the nonstop breeze on a weekday evening brought me and the wife to the Goathouse Cafe Roastery. The warm fuzzy feeling of the cafe and the smiling faced waitresses made us comfortable and cozy even in the chilly weather.
We ordered a beer for me and an “illusion” cocktail for the wife together with a tapas selection of Moroccan Pork Belly and Mushroom stuffed with Bacon and Halloumi, which was accompanied by a small salad and crispy bread. The pork belly was exquisite while the mushroom was divine. The saltiness of the bacon and halloumi paired brilliantly with the mushroom.
For mains, I ordered the Flinders Island Lamb Loin and my partner settled for the Gippsland Beef Steak. For me, I found both the mains to be satisfying while my better half commented that the lamb was a bit over cooked. I chose to ignore the remark and devoured the lamb and even finished off the unfinished beef steak off her plate without any shame. With the same breath I should also point out that the portion size were quite liberal.
Overall, an evening well spent. We were happy with the food, service and ambience and hence I would rate Goathouse Cafe Roastery 4/5.
Visited here on a Sunday night - nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Ordered the chargrilled ribeye and lamb loin. Both were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious, could not fault them. Keep up the good work! :)
Went here for a dinner after a movie at the Elsternwick. Wonderful ambiance, nice outdoor area. Food was delicious. I had the pumpkin and sage ravioli and it was super yummy and a good serving size. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals as well. The people next to us had burgers and they looked incredible!
I was excited to dine as a guest of Goathouse today. I wish I’d realised they were open in the evening as I probably would have opted for that given the sound of their dinner menu. First impression was very impressive. Their Instagram account does not convey the size of the space and the brilliant atmosphere. Nor does it give you a sense of the cool interiors and all of the awesome little seating areas both inside and out. A gorgeous marble bar is the focal point of the venue and they also have a roastery section with beans available for sale. We decided to forgo the caffeine in favour of the bar and sipped jars of pimms as we awaited our food. We didn’t have long to wait but while we did I observed the table next to us, a couple with a young daughter who was playing with the toys and books provided at the cafe. It’s definitely a family friendly and very relaxed spot.
Having had pancakes for breakfast that morning I decided to order the avocado rosti dish for something savoury, on account of having seen the generous portion of avo on instagram. I think they must be skimping on the green jewel in the midst of the avo shortage crisis as I didn’t find there was adequate smashed on there and I did find myself wishing I’d ordered the pulled beef sliders instead.
The other dishes we had were the calamari, prawn tacos and the steak sandwich. The lunch menu has extensive pub style fare such as this. A few deviations from expectations here, the steak sanga was presented as open and the tacos seemed to be missing the avocado entirely both of which was a but incongruent with the menu. In the absence of avo I found adding some lemon I cleverly utilised from my pimms jug really freshened the dish up. A lighter crumb on both the prawns and the calamari would have allowed the seafood to shine.
While a few things missed the mark the convenient location right next to the station smack bang in the middle of bustling Elsternwick is ideal, and the venue set up and ambiance faultless and perfect for the summer months. Being directly across the road from the cinema denotes this a decent post movie option
The Goat House Cafe, situated on Elsternwick’s busy Glenhuntly Road is an all day eatery that’s just full of surprises. We visited on a Friday evening for dinner and the vibe was lively and laid back....
Wheelchair accessible. Accessible bathroom available.
Table service. We prebooked but easily could accommodate a walk in. Spacious.
Serving size was on the upper side. My pork belly was reasonably priced but so large. So unfortunate because I ate the pork over the mixed veggies because I know how expensive it can be. And they were equally delicious.
Love the style and how versatile the menu is.
And all day breakfast wins me everytime
I had the zucchini and corn fritters for breakfast this morning and it was delicious!
The freshly squeezed juice was also yummy and refreshing on a warm day.
Service was friendly and fast and the place was large, airy and comfortable.
Love the outside area here and lovely atmosphere in the heart of glenhuntly rd!!! We had the fritters, french toast and panacotta!!! All the dishes were pleasant, but too many flavours were going on.
Food: 3.5/5
Atmosphere: 5/5
Service: Such friendly staff that are a cut above 5/5
Instagram worthy: Great outside area for photos
Location: Great area in the heart of Elsternwick
Have been here many times, for coffee, breakfast and lunch. Always pretty consistent and friendly, attentive staff. Today was breakfast and coffee, zucchini, pea and halloumi fritters. It was very rich but ate every bite! Love what they’ve done with the outside seating where you can now enter from the park. Perfect for a sunny day out. Note... there are no goats to pet in this house. 😉

My recent brunch at the Goathouse Cafe in Elsternwick was epic! Boy do they have a fantastic menu. With so much choice, there’s something to please everyone with a great selection of both sweet and savoury items.
We chose the challah French toast with lemon-lime curd, seasonal fruit, pistachio crumb, syrup and lemon mascarpone. I couldn’t get over how nice the texture of the bread was! Super soft and a little bit more dense than a regular French toast which meant it really soaked up a lot of the egg mixture. The fresh fruit was lovely - extra points for including mandarin segments (i love citrus fruits) and both the curd and mascarpone provided a lovely creamy element. It looked absolutely stunning on the plate and the serving size was definitely generous. I’d highly recommend this!
The other dish we ordered was the ‘coco nutty granola’ which came with passion fruit yoghurt, seasonal berries, blueberry panna cotta and kiwi pavlova kisses. The actual granola was really lovely. It had a lot of flavour just by itself and I loved the little pieces of dried fruit throughout. The star of the plate however was the blueberry panna cotta. It was so nice and fresh and the texture was super smooth and silky. Our kiwi pavlova kisses were unfortunately missing, but the yoghurt made up for it, my only criticism is that there could have been even more of it. As a whole though, the dish was very good. A great summery option with lots of flavour and great textures.
Our coffees were also great and we were very impressed by the attentive staff who were lovely and bubbly and more than happy to provide recommendations from the menu.
If you’re ever in the area, definitely pop in for a bite to eat. The Goathouse Cafe has both an impressive menu as well as a great atmosphere with super friendly staff. 👌☺️
> Coco nutty granola with roasted granola with coconut and dried fruit served with passion fruit yogurt, seasonal berries, blueberry panna cotta and kiwi Pavlova kisses AND Blueberry Pancakes- Pancake stack with nutty crumble, vanilla ice cream and hazelnut syrup AND Crusted Rosti A free ranged poached egg, smashed avocado, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, semi-dried tomatoes on a potato rosti <
It has been a while since I have visited Elsternwick for brunch. I decided Goat House would be the best option to go to without lining up and waiting for a table, because I know they have a very large floor plan to accommodate many hungry people. The staff are extremely helpful and are constantly checking up on you to see if you need anything or if your meal is how you like it, which I believe is very important because you know you are being looked after. We decided to try these three beautiful dishes to basically cover all grounds of flavours.
When the granola dish came out, I was in awe with how beautiful the presentation was. The colours were really vibrant and the placement of all the elements is strategically done to made the entire dish look even more appealing than it already does. The granola itself was actually really delicious and had a nice soft crunch. The combination of the fruit and yogurt worked amazingly with this dish to combine the granola and make a really nice and healthy meal. The most interesting part about this dish is they added a panna cotta on the side, which I thought was a great little treat to add a bit more sweetness and flavour to the meal.
Pancakes are always a go to sweet dish for me, so whenever I see them on the menu, I immediately know I have to get them. The pancakes were really fluffy and thick which is incredible to fill you up for the entire day. The blueberries were super sweet and really made this dish stand out for me. The nutty crumble was a little tricky to eat and it was extremely crunchy. The fruit was very refreshing though and helped break down the pancakes and add a bit more flavour. Overall, this dish is not too sweet and is very delicious, so if you’re a pancake fan like myself, I would recommend trying these out!
The rosti dish was a different one for us as haven’t really seen it been done before, so of course we had to try it! Despite the appearance of it being small, it is actually a very filling dish. The portion of avocado is ridiculously large so if you love avocado, this is a no brainer for you! The combination of cheeses was really delicious and tied together all the savoury elements, whilst also breaking down the strong potato texture. This is a very nice dish if you want something a little different, instead of getting your typical smashed avo.
Overall, this place is a great venue to sit and have a decent and quality brunch with some friends or family. They accommodate for a vast range of customers so they will have something delicious for everyone to try!

Without a doubt, the best cafe in the area. Consistently good food and the coffee is always on point. Plus the staff are always friendly and quick to take your order.
Checked this place out for brunch yesterday with some friends and it was superb!
An all day breakfast menu, dogs permitted on the outside deck and bloody Mary's and Mimosa's for ordering were all things initially appealing to myself.
Partner ordered the pork belly (pictured) from the lunch menu and the serving was a large portion size, exquisitely presented and delicious to taste! Even the crackling was cooked to perfection which we don't often find!
I had the Avo Breeze which was lovely, again beautifully presented. Coffee was hot, options for smoothies and they even let us split the bill with our other 2 friends.
Would definitely return to try some other options !
The goathouse is unlike any of the other establishments we've visited recently. Cafe by day and hopping bar and restaurant by night, it boasts an extensive menu and a great atmosphere. As you enter the wrought iron doors, you're faced with an open yet almost labyrinth-style interior- you don't know what's around the next corner (our favourite room was the one with the portrait of the former owner's mother with a goat and the mural on the ceiling of a religious -inspired family of goats). What made the goathouse stand out, however, was the level of warmth and service we received from all of the staff from the moment we walked in- it was a truly wonderful experience!
Now…onto the meal!
To start with, we ordered two Chai tea lattes, one with almond milk and one with soy. The chai was creamy and delicious, but just needed the tiniest bit of sweetness to really hit the spot!
°•○ The ‘Crusted Rosti’- Free-range poached eggs with smashed avocado, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese and semi-dried tomatoes on a potato rosti with balsamic glaze. There’s not much more to say about this dish, except for the fact that it was aaabsolutely delicious! The rosti was thick and crispy and didn’t leave us with that awful greasy feeling afterwards, and the mixture of the cheeses with the avocado and tomatoes created a creamy and delicious flavour that we didn’t want to end. Plus, potatoes….need we say more?!
°•○ The ‘Avo Breeze’- Roasted pumpkin & spinach puree on multi-grain toast topped with smashed avocado, marinated feta, cherry tomato, Roquette, balsamic glaze and a broken poached egg. Clearly we can’t get enough of our smashed avocado, but we were drawn to this particular smash due to the addition of the roasted pumpkin (and more cheese, of course), which added another level of flavour to the dish which reeeally hit the spot. The smashes, along with the seeds and perfectly poached egg, provided us with a gooey and creamy mouthful of deliciousness. The balsamic glaze, which was on both this and the crusted rosti, added a unique but extremely welcome addition of sweetness, which finished off both dishes perfectly.
°•○ The ‘Coco Nutty Granola’- Roasted granola with coconut and dried fruit served with passion fruit yogurt, seasonal berries, blueberry panna cotta and kiwi Pavlova kisses. We at Bitsofbites are huuuge fans of granola and consider ourselves slight connoisseurs. We tend to try out the granola at most of the cafes we go to, and are always astounded by the difference in quality from place to place. One common thing we’ve found is that most granolas need some form of yoghurt or sweetness to actually give it flavour. The goathouse’s granola was not one of these. Sure, the granola was accompanied by one of the creamiest and most delicious blueberry panna cottas we’ve tried, but the granola itself as a standalone was absolutely delicious! Crunchy, sweet and somehow chewy, this was definitely one of the best we’ve had to date! The accompaniment of fresh fruit and pavlova kisses just added so much flavour that we were literally licking the bowl afterwards (there’s video proof!)
Our experience at The Goathouse Café was fun, relaxing and absolutely delicious! The service from the staff was sensational! Lucy was bubbly, friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in, and the barista Tama was friendly, conversational and tended to our every need. The rest of the staff were equally lovely, and we felt extremely comfortable and at home. We chose to sit in the beautiful front courtyard to soak in the sun, and the atmosphere was funky and upbeat- it made us long for summer days.
Each dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. Even though both of the savoury meals we ordered were similar in ingredients, the chef somehow managed to make them tastefully unique and we enjoyed every minute of our feast.
Thanks so much to the entire team at the Goathouse- we’ll be back in summer to soak in the sun in that gorgeous courtyard!

We were treated invited down for brunch at Goathouse Cafe in Elwood and had the most amazing meal. Everything about this place is top notch: happy, friendly, attentive staff; sunny courtyard that's doggie friendly overlooking the park; cool interior - great for families, date nights, drinks with the girls; fully stocked cocktail bar; awesome menu without the 1hr+ queue. PLUS an all day brekkie menu. This is the kind of place you could spend your whole day!
We tried:
1) Classic Stuffed French Toast with berries, lemon lime curd, poached pear, pistachio praline, marscarpone and just the prefect amount of maple syrup. This is a great sweet option that isn't overdone. The citrus flavours and texture of the cheese beautifully compliment the French toast, punctuated by the freshness of the berries. Perfect!
2) Cheddar Crusted Potato Rosti with poached egg, smashed avo, mozzarella & ricotta, and semi dried tomatoes.
This dish is a regular on the breakfast menu and we can absolutely see why!
The rosti was soft and creamy on the inside with just the right amount of caramelisation on the outside. The semi sundried tomatoes gave a yummy kick to every mouthful of cheesy goodness, and we also loved the sliced garnish which added a subtle crunchy texture and an extra pop of colour.
3)*Special* Rich pork pâté tartine on crispy sourdough with TWO poached eggs and hollandaise (only $14!!) This dish was incredible! The pork was rich and luxurious and didn't taste at all fatty. It came with fresh apple and cherry tomatoes which complimented the pork perfectly and added a burst of freshness. The dish was topped off with TWO plump poached eggs (we LOVE two eggs) and a delicious light hollandaise which meant this dish didn't end up being too rich.
The sourdough was perfectly crispy on the edges and just right for soaking up that delicious yolk and sauce.
We just loved this dish and think it would make an awesome addition to the regular menu.
Goathousecafe is one of our absolute faves and we can't say enough nice things about the food and the staff. Come down and try for yourselves 10/10 trotters
.
Sat outside in a warm area ordered the chicken parma with chips and salad.Chicken was cooked well topped up with a luscious sauce. Polished down with a nice bottle of red service excellent. Great atmosphere overlooking the park. Good work guys. 5 out of 5 .
This restaurant changed hands earlier this year, and in doing so a much needed attention to detail was introduced. While the interior hasn't been updated noticeably, the menu has been revised, with more changes to come (more on this later).
Staff were brilliantly attentive, fast and unobtrusive.
Portion sizes were generous, while not sacrificing quality of ingredients.
We had steak, salmon, steak sandwich, some dips, cocktails and a special : beef ribs with purple slaw.
All were cooked perfectly, salmon was delicious and the croquettes were a wonderful addition. The steak sandwich was a delight. Espresso Martini was well priced and very well made.
Now to the ribs. Incredible! I have a soft spot for slow cooked beef ribs. We were told that the chef has been working on this offering for a while with a view to add it permanently to the menu. I hope this happens as they're the best beef ribs I've had outside of my own kitchen.
I've found my new local, and I cannot recommend it more highly.
As an all-day eatery, Goathouse Cafe offered up a thoroughly enjoyable brunch fare that, while not overly creative, definitely satisfied the tastebuds.
Sampling from both the breakfast and lunch menu yielded consistently delicious results, with more traditional staples like the Beef Brisket and Potato Rosti well-executed and being clear winners of our meal.
Love this place!!!
The lamb shank dish on the pea mash is so hearty on a winters day:)))))
They also do great coffee, great staff, what more could you want.
Also tried the veggie stack, now I’m a hardcore carnivore, but this is great!!!!!
It’s like a stacked tower, each layer unearthing a yummy roasted veg. Whether it’s the eggplant or mushrooms. There’s also roasted kale and sweet potato fries. My friends watched enviously as I demolished the stack, and swore they’d order it next time. It’s so goood !!!!!!!
Lovely people that work here, their service is excellent. I visit Goathouse regularly, and will continue to do so as the food is well-priced, tastes nice, the service is 10/10, and it's a great environment.
A really warm welcome and a quiet seat outside was just what I needed when dining alone there recently.
The service was fairly quick and the cheese crusted rosti was perfect. Just the right mix of textures, flavours and portion size.
The only thing that lets it down for me is the coffee, I could taste it for the rest of the day. It won't put me off returning to try some other dishes though.
A very airy welcoming cafe and bar. The staff were very attentive supplying us with water and bread with oil and balsamic at no charge. We ordered the grilled lamb burger, pumpkin and sage ravioli and the crispy skin pork with seasonal vegetables fennel slaw and red wine jus. My pork dish was amazing and a very generous portion. The lamb burger was pronounced delicious as was the ravioli. A very pleasant experience. Will return.
Nice place down to earth . Good coffee that is roastered on premise . Friendly staff. Genuine food not too pricey.
I really liked the terrasse overlooking a small park . Good for people with kids !
As recent newcomers to the area we have been here a few times for good quality coffee. This morning we had breakfast for the first time. The service was prompt and friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. I enjoyed the Eggs Benedict which were a bit different (and tastier) than the usual version. My partner had the bib breakfast which she liked as well. Very well priced at $20 on comparison to most big breakfasts. Look forward to coming back on a regular basis.
I had breakfast here once. It was eggcelent. As in the eggs benedict were delicious. The ham hock melted in my mouth. Lots of smiling all around. Even my ex was happy and I know how hard that is to achieve.
Edit: I came back and holy hell was the food amazing. The smoked chicken waffles and the bacon halloumi mushrooms were divine. Our waitress was attentive and charming. And the coffee made me slightly jealous ; even my best efforts can't compare. Upgraded to 5/5
Coffee roasted on site is top notch stuff. The breakfasts here are amazing, as my good mate Bobo says 'you can't top a Goaty breakfast' and he's right. Eggs benny with pulled ham and candied bacon is the stuff dreams are made of.
Couldn't believe how big this place is!! I ordered the lamb dish which came with some beetroot and pumpkin too.. Healthy but quite oily. Lamb was over cooked and hence chewy. Coffee was great. Food is average but the ambiance, set up - over all experience is slightly above average.
Really interesting menu, not the usual options! I've been here a few times and it's consistently very good. Meals are generous and full flavoured and coffee is very good. However beware if you want to sit outside - there's always a few wasps buzzing around!
The eggs benedict was a perfect mix. They had the ham hock and sauce down. The coffee was, at least to my uneducated palate, very good as well. Would highly recommend for recovery after a harsh night at revs.
Have never been disappointed here. From an outstanding steak, to the most impressive pork belly, and today, a simple crispy skin barramundi special, with perfectly steamed veggies and a beautiful, understated mandarin and dill sauce. Brilliant. Always great coffee as an added bonus. Staff and service always good without being exceptional. Will be back!!
We came here for breakfast with a big group. Coffees were very good. Breakfasts were generous and interesting, I personally had the eggs benedict that comes with pulled ham hock and was amazing. Prices are reasonable for size and quality of dishes. Cons are that our service was a little slow, maybe due to the large order.
Went here for the first time over the weekend & was very impressed. Really lovely outdoor area, staff were attentive and very nice & the food was delicious & plentiful! I have the cauliflower quesadilla. Can't wait to go back and try more off the menu
Love the flavours of the food and even the coffee which is roasted onsite! Just keep the staff on top of things when it gets really busy. But 9/10 times they run like clockwork
