Who would've thought that Elsternwick would be hiding such a gem? Very good sliced beef pho, and BBQ pork Bahn mi. Just what was needed on a winters day in icey Melbourne
The food is delicious, fresh and fast. Really yummy. Get take-outs on a regular basis and it's always great. They have specials at lunchtime which are great value for money too. Highly recommend.
Really good pad Thai. I made it vegan and it was a huge serving but I was famished so I ate it all, duh. Many vegan-izable options on the menu
Since I wrote my last review, I didn’t go there for nearly a year due to the experience of terrible waitress. But I noticed ( I live near so walked pass all the time ) the rude waitress has gone, so I decided to give them another chance. With my delight, all the staff are so friendly ( one of them even noticed I hadn’t been there for a long time and welcomed me back!) and food was so delicious and comforting as I remember. I took a Vietnamese friend there and she was very happy to test a very authentic Bun bo hue!! So nice to reconnect with my local casual restaurant which serves authentic meals :)
I ordered takeaway, prawn spring rolls, mee goreng, rare beef noodle soup (pho) & I couldn't fault any of it, generous helpings of sprouts, lettuce, mint & sauce & the wonderful broth. Lovely food.
Nine of us went for dinner at the restaurant. After reading some of the reviews I was quite doubtful about the restaurant but I know I was there a couple of years ago and the food was good and service was great. To my surprise, we had the best service. We ordered 2 entrees and 6 main. The entree Saigon spring roll and satay sticks were great. We did not have to wait long. All the mains came almost on time. The crispy honey chicken, crispy beef and salt and pepper calamari. They were all good. The most disappointing was the green curry. What was I thinking. We are in a Vietnamese restaurant and Green Curry is Thai. My advice to all, stick to Vietnamese dishes. Overall I am happy with the service and food.

Cheap eat deals for lunch.
Quite aromatic and flavoursome several times I've been here - haven't been bad for me.
Prompt waiting time, with ok service.
We got to Saigon Hut at 8 pm on a Tuesday night and there were no people.
The host was very lovely and brought us water and menus immediately.
We ordered a Chicken Tom Yum, a Phở with Rare Beef and Chicken, and a Sizzling Calamari.
The Tom Yum and the Phở arrived promptly.
The Tom Yum was average - I wasn't expecting much better considering this is a Vietnamese restaurant.
The Phở was really good. It arrived with a separately plate with Chillies, Lemon, Thai Basil, Bean Sprouts, and a couple of different Chilli Sauces (Sriracha and something else). I really enjoyed it. The Thai Basil gave it an amazing aroma and the Bean Sprouts added that lovely crunch. The Chilli Sauces added just the right amount of heat I wanted. Overall, a very pleasant dish.
The Sizzling dishes come in a few options - Beancurds, Beef/Chicken/Pork, Calamari, Prawns or Rockling Fish Fillet, and Scallops. In addition, you get to choose the sauce from 9 different options - we chose the Mongolian one and we weren't disappointed - the sauce was rich and full of flavour. The vegetables were crisp, and the Calamari was cooked very well and wasn't chewy.
We paid $41, which was a very good value. I do think, however, that the Sizzling Calamari is a bit overpriced at $20.80.
If I don't find a better Phở around Elstie, I'll definitely be back.
Had a late dinner with family we shared entrees with the standout being the curry puffs but all very good. For mains the standout was the vegetarian laksa.
Had quick service, great food and cheap price. Winner all-round.
Saigon Hut is one good Vietnamese spot on Glen Huntley Rd Elsternwick. Staffs are nice and Friendly. The lunch specials are good and value for the money. We try Prawn spring rolls, rare beef pho, rice paper rolls and lemongrass chicken vermicelli. They all are delicious. If you live around Elsternwick or nearby, I do recommend you guys to try Saigon Hut for your Vietnamese craving. :)
Really great little pho place. Staff is attentive and friendly, food comes out quickly and prices are very reasonable. Rice paper rolls, vietnamese coffee and beef in vine leaves are also winners.
Regular customer and will continue to be.
I just had a very delicious pho at this place. Very cosy atmosphere and very kind staff. The presentation and the freshness of the veggies was great. I highly recommend it.
I take my daughter who is vegan here regularly, always great food and service. A check it out place indeed. Lovely staff and quick efficient service. A long needed place in Elsternwick
So we had our blond moment and ordered pad thai thinking it was a Vietnamese dish. But wow it tasted really good. Great service and food. Would love to come back again.
There are times when you can’t be bothered travelling across town to dine at the hottest new opening and just desire a reliable restaurant that’s nearby. A place that’s relaxed & ideally reasonably priced. If they permit you to rock up with a bottle of your own plonk under your arm, that’s clearly an added bonus.
The best place we've found in the Elsternwick area for pho, rice paper rolls and Vietnamese style food. Good for a healthy dinner. Relatively quick and affordable.
My first Vietnamese food experience and it was delicious! Staff were friendly, food came out very fast, pretty cheap too. Busy little place, will go back again to try some other dishes :)
New local restaurant - new owners - Very tasty Vietnamese food. Friendly and good service. Nice warm environment. We will be back as lots more to try on your menu!

This unassuming local restaurant offers honest and rich Vietnamese food at a great price. Their lunch menu represents great value, with many meals being under $11. The only thing letting it down is that there is a bit of a damp smell in the restaurant, the outdoor eating area is not made good use of during the summer, and they slug you for eftpos purchases under $25, which I think is annoying in this day and age! Here is my fave, the seafood Tom Yum. Delicious!
Will be back. Great value in comfortable surroundings. Food tastes great.
All food are wonderful. I will go back again.
I love Vietnamese food. Thump up.
I love this place. Prices are great, food super delicious. Curry laksa is perfect, sugar cane prawns are wonderful. Fresh and full of flavour. Do pick up orders. Parking is usually easy and it helps all restaurants make a margin than lose it to delivery app companies. Better still, eat in. It's casual and cool
Pho & buhn mi lunch special!! So good!
