Review Loco Coffee - Elsternwick

Came here for brunch and to wait for a friend. Absolutely delicious food and amazing coffee. Friendly service. Definitely will come back again.

I used the EatClub app to order for takeaway. A dish and a drink for $10 only! The smashed avocado came on toasted sourdough and poached egg with a salad on the side. The egg was perfectly runny as I cut through. The dish as a while was good because you can’t really go wrong with a smashed avocado, can’t we? Also got the Bacon and Scrambled Egg Roll/Burger. And again, you can’t really go wrong with it! 😂

Happened to be in Elsternwick for the day and saw that they had a $10 lunch special on EatClub - either zucchini fritters with two poached eggs or avocado on toast, with a can of drink. Although this special was meant for takeaway only, they still welcomed me to dine in. I chose the zucchini fritters and it was a delicious dish. Service was top notch and on a nice day you can sit outside and watch the world go by!

Very welcoming place. Food great, venue clean and staff friendly and professional. Recommend the menu. Good coffee goes well with one of their large blueberry muffins

I love coming here. Foods top notch 👍 Can get a bit busy and the staff can get a bit flustered. But that’s a good sign that their food is in demand! Give it 15 mins for your order to be ready on average.

I hadn't been to loco since I left the area years ago. I had a mixed experience. After sitting and ordering a coffee to start, I didnt get a menu for 15mins, so asked another staff member. I also reminded her of the coffee order, she hadn't received it. It wasn't busy at the time, so not sure why. Anyway, coffee was decent and food yummy (I had the 3 amigos) and nicely presented.

The food was delicious and the coffee was great. The sweet corn fritters stack was particularly tasty with a refreshing salad and a sweet salsa to die for. Highly recommend trying this place. A little local gem!

Incredible looking of this lovely coffee, service was gentle and friendly. Definitely worth to wait and absolutely coming back again!

This is our go-to breakfast date spot when my wife and I visit nearby family. Excellent coffee and the breakfast menu is superb. Staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. Just a wonderful place.

Lovely mocha coffee and blueberry lemon muffin today - hit the comfort spot 😊

The staff here at Loco Coffee in Elsternwick were extremely friendly and hospitable! I really value friendly staff so will definitely be returning. <br/><br/>Along with great service, the food was outstanding too. The smashed avo was delicious and the value was amazing considering it included 2 poached eggs - this is extremely hard to come by these days! They were also cooked too perfection! The halloumi paired perfectly with the avo and created lovely textures throughout the whole dish<br/><br/>The sweet corn fritter stack had some delicious flavours and textures. Again, the poached eggs was cooked to perfection and the avocado was a perfect addition to this staple menu item.<br/><br/>The zucchini fritters were a splendid surprise courtesy of the chef! Crispy with a fluffy filling and bursts of flavours. It was accompanied with beetroot and pea sauces that complimented the fritter to perfection

Big contrast between the two lattes we had in different cafés this morning. I know what to pick next time.

Small, warm cafe on the main strip of Elsternwick. The service was a bit all over the place and the smashed avo was on the small side so we both needed to add a side of bacon to the dish.

Gorgeous little cafe! The courtyard has so much potential! I was impressed by the menu, lots of different meals on there that aren't your usual brunch foods. I enjoyed the breakfast Plate with broccolini, craisins, eggs and olive labneh. The quinoa bread was a little crumbly but interesting.<br/>My boyfriend got the hash brown Benedict and loved it. Traditional Benedict with a great hollandaise sauce. The French toast was a classic, nothing too over the top. The staff were so lovely but I don't think they realised how busy they would be! Would recommend this cafe

Loco Coffee is what you would expect a small neighbourhood café to be – big on community, simple on food.  A perfectly made flat white. Set along the busy Glen Huntly Road, you could easily miss its unassuming façade. The interior is simple and cosy. There are also tables outside. The menu includes decent coffee, eggs on toast, seasonal greens for vegans and happy classics like shakshuka and smashed avo for the real Melbournians.

Located in Elsternwick this cafe was perfect to sit back and have something to eat while getting some work done. I ordered a latte and the king neptune which was delicious. The poaached eggs had the most amazing ooze when cut.

WOW! What a delicious & stunning feed we experienced at Loco! Thanks for being so accommodating - we had a ball! 💕👏🏼👌🏼🌿<br/>Raspberry & Passionfruit Bircher (V) Fresh raspberries, passionfruit, soaked oats, quinoa & wild berry & cacao crumble! 💕🤩🍓- This presentation was next level adorable! <br/><br/>The smashed avo & salmon was super fresh, which also had the perfect ratio of salmon to avo! The cherry tomatoes provided much needed acidic relief to the strong & fatty flavours in this dish! Super yum!<br/><br/>....and sweet potato fries, cause why not!! :P<br/><br/>@lococoffee

You couldn't give this place anything less than 4 stars. Hospitality was... very hospitable! No pretentious vibes like a lot of these style of cafes can have. It's a gentle and chill atmosphere and has a great amount of seating options: out the front, fun in the sun style or way down in the cozy back room.<br/><br/>The coffee was fantastic. We ordered strong soy cappuccinos and although they were not as strong as we'd hoped for, they were more than happy to whack out a couple of espresso shots for an additional hit (And not bitter at all!).<br/><br/>I ordered the Pull pork burger... and wow! The flavours were on point. Just the right amount of tang and smokiness served with some amazing sweet potatoes fries (that actually had a nice crunch to them with a soft interior) ... I've had my fair share of terrible sweet potato fries and these were by far some of the best cooked I've had the pleasure of ingesting (I finished them all before taking even one bite from my burger!).<br/><br/>My partner ordered the mushroom special, something that she wouldn't usually go for but wanted to give it a try. Although she did claim it was a "little salty" (she is not a salty fan at all), she did finish it... which means the mushrooms were GOOD!<br/><br/>All in all it was a very pleasant experience and we will be sure to come back.<br/><br/>Thanks Loco 😊<br/><br/>

We ordered our Christmas lunch from these guys and girl. The sandwiches were absolutely great. I would recommend Loco for any catering or just for lunch

Food, coffee and service are top notch! Head chef has certainly got the skills. We ate the brekky board and lamb dish - highly recommended.....

Loco has a very comfortable vibe and tasty food and coffee that everyone will enjoy. Great for a Sunday morning caffeine fix with friends. Highly recommended!
Eating Away Melbourne
Accidentally visited this cafe and it was a nice surprise. Ordered the smoothie even I waited for a bit it tasted sooooo good worth the wait! For food I had the french toast and it was well balanced and nicely presented. The mascarpone was my favourite part! Service was quick and friendly as well. Will definitely come back if Im in the area.

This place used to be fantastic. Returned today after about a year and was so disappointed.<br/><br/>The menu used to be very different and well priced. Now the menu is generic, bland and I would no longer call it good value. <br/><br/>Table was sticky which was a bit gross, but the waitress with blonde short hair was absolutely lovely and the service was quick. <br/><br/>I ordered scrambled eggs on toast. They arrived runny and gooey and tasted burned (even though they weren’t). <br/><br/>On the upside the portion was good and the coffee was superb. Really fantastic coffee. <br/><br/>Would definitely return for the coffee but would skip the food.

We popped in for brunch on a late Saturday morning. Quite busy by the time we arrived with a warm n cosy atmosphere. My wife(amateur barista n quite picky if i’m really honest)loves their coffee. I was impressed by the source in chilli scramble, which is a must try!! My lady ordered the spicy chicken salad and she absolutely loved it. The flavor is quite unique in a good way. We will definitely be back!

Came here on a Saturday morning, lovely place with great atmosphere, service was great and friendly , we were ordered a spicy chicken salad and a chilli scramble, good quality, special sauce…everything was soooo good, especially coffee, exactly what I wanted, would definitely come back again!

What a gorgeous cafe in Elsternwick. I popped in for breakfast with a friend on Friday, it was packed with locals so we sat outside.  Service was fantastic, we were greeted at the door, shown to our table and coffees brought over quickly. <br/><br/>The menu is very much your typical 2018 breakfast menu with hotcakes, chilli scrambled, chicken waffles and of course the smashed avo. We ordered the smashed avo and chill scrambled and were surprised at how large the portion size was. The egg was cooked perfectly and the avo was seasoned well. I also had the mojito with watermelon, lime and mint. It had the right amount of mint (I'm not a fan of a lot of mint). <br/><br/>Super keen to go back for the chicken waffles and for another coffee.
Good Food Good Mood
I was lucky enough to be invited to Loco Coffee for breakfast today located on Glen Huntley road which is one of my favourite little strips at the moment. For a local style cafe I was seriously impressed with the quality of their plating. My bircher had excellent texture from the toasted coconut and crunch of the macadamia crumble and this was all surrounding an absolutely stunning poached pear which not only looked vibrant but was also absolutely delicious. I was excited by the idea of the mojito juice but found it very tart upon taste.<br/>My husband had both a short black and a cold drip which he thoroughly enjoyed. They certainly do good coffee which I suppose is to be expected when they have the word coffee in their name. He also tried the smashed avocado with poached eggs which I imagine he was very pleased with seeings as he didn’t leave any for me to try.<br/>Overall a cute little spot well worth checking out if you are in the surrounding suburbs

Love this place! <br/>Have been coming for coffee for months (since my hubby and I moved to the area), we think it’s the best coffee on the street. Recently came with a couple of friends for brekkie as I heard they have a new head chef- the food did not disappoint! I had the hot cakes, they were absolutely delicious- light, fluffy and just the right amount of creme fraiche and berries. My friends ordered smashed avo (which looked unreal and I will be ordering next time) and the Bircher muesli, they were both happy.<br/>Definitely worth a visit.
Tomlovestoeat
Lovely little cafe with a hidden courtyard! Nice and simple decor inside with very friendly staff. The coffee is delicious and the food was so tasty. I dined with my other half, she, being the smashed Avo fiend thoroughly enjoyed her dish. The red pepper hummus that came with the Avo was bloody delicious. I ordered the hot chicken waffles, this dish had a fine balance of sweet, hot, salty and sour flavours. Perfect. Definitely coming back to try the hotcakes.

Wonderful coffee, friendly staff and delicious food - a truly great local! Their new coffee blend is fabulous and baristas take care to make my coffee just how I like it.

Such a great little place to pop in for brunch or coffee! Their menu is great and all the food is so fresh! Coffee is delicious and they have a small but tasty range of cakes! I love the baked doughnut!
FoodHedonist
I ordered salmon bagel and skinny flat White. They both were good.. I liked that they gave plenty of salmon. Coffee was a little weak though. Warm ambience and good service.

The B.E.A.T which is bacon, egg, avo & tomato on Turkish bread was nice, with some greens on the side. Also had the mango & nutmeg muffin, loved the large chucks of mango. Good brekkie option.

This has got to be one of my favourite cafe in Melb, it's not fancy within as it's all about the food - great getaway from the hustle and bustle of city centre. Loco smash is a must try, with house smoked salmon on side to add a bit of saltiness, yum !😍
Lovingohau
Great to see the old menu back. Their acai bowl is the best. Atmosphere is always good. Good coffee and friendly staff. Tried quite a few dishes and super bowl is my favourite. Also this is a great place for vegetarians as there are a lot of choice.
Kaylea Backin Denim
Strong menu, amazing coffee and helpful and friendly staff. The atmosphere is relaxed but trendy, and it's always nice and clean. I've never had a bad coffee from here.

Go Loco Smash! A different take on smashed AVO, but better in my opinion. And if you're into chai latte should try the Golden Latte. We will be back again.
Stillforever666
We don't live in the area but went passed and decided to have a rest inside on a hot day. The coffee was good with a strong taste, service was quick. Place has a simple but neat decor, and it is reasonably quiet for a good conversation. It has varieties of food and drinks on offer, my daughter enjoyed the chocolate milkshake in particular, while I enjoyed an ice-cold latte with ice cream. <br/><br/>Would recommend to anyone wants a quick service and relaxing time around the area, especially if you just finish shopping in the Coles across the street and decided to take a break before hopping into your car.

- 1 sat outside and made eye contact with the waitress who was sitting at the bar seats in the window with the paper.......she did nothing<br/>-2 sat outside for 5mins before i had to go in and ask for menus <br/>- 3 all tables outside (others than ours) had dirty dishes<br/>- 4 I ordered coffee when the menues came, no one came back to take food orders<br/>-5 when coffee came waitress just took the menus and walked off<br/><br/>Won't be back<br/><br/>Coffee was ok, got marshmallows with it for some reason
Sophia Sun
very nice cafe, great coffee and love the tuna wrap. Simple but delicious. Very fresh and good quality ingredients. The waitress who served our table was very attentive and lovely. Will definitely go back again to try some other options on the menu.
Amberedwards86
My fave Sunday ritual to get a takeaway coffee and acai bowl...then without any mention of a change they downsize the takeaway bowl so that you get half the amount of acai and a quarter of the toppings. Funnily enough the price is the same as it was when it was larger, absolute rip off!

Decent breakfast place. Loco smash is really good. Coffee is very good. Staff, well, They don't seem to care. And even if the place is quiet, they pretend to be busy and don't care. Anyway if I'm super hungry and in the area, I'd come back for the loco smash.
Andrew
Very friendly team gives you a warm feeling. The house baked muffin is delicious and seems low on sugar, which is great. The super green bowl is healthy. I need to come back and try other food. My wife loves the golden latte!
FoodieMania
Great coffee and food. Great art decor inside and a nice warm feel to the place...<br/>Had the brioche - was small in portion but just nice for me. Hubby had the baked eggs with Turkish bread which was really yum. The only downfall would be the staff not smiling and were a bit frazzled. But we will be back to try the other food selections on the menu for sure.

Long wait for a coffee...very slow!!! Maybe the female barista needs to stop drinking her coffee and make the take aways instead!................

We usually go 2 doors down to Ernest V, but thought we'd give Loco a go for a change. <br/><br/>My coffee was really nice but not hot enough. Mr Choosy had the wagyu burger and said it was okay, very filling and the fries were nice.<br/><br/>The shakshuka was a real disappointment. It was pretty much a heap of spicy tomato purée with very little texture. I could only find 3 bits of pepper and no onions. It was so boring I almost fell asleep in it.<br/><br/>The staff were friendly enough and it had a nice relaxed atmosphere, but I'll be choosing to go back to Ernest V over this place again.

Has changed management and menu's since my last visit. To be honest, I preferred the food better last time. I ordered the middle eastern open lamb wrap which was completely tasteless. The meat was more on the dry side and lacked seasoning.
The Food Queen
Haven't been here for a while. The place has had a bit of a makeover. I enjoyed the haloumi salad - olives and mushrooms added a nice dimension. Coffee didn't excite me but my friend enjoyed her skinny lattes so much she had two
Brungiel
Had brekky here with friends - I had the eggs benedict & espresso; friend had the shakshuka and long black... Very different experiences. My coffee was nice and the breakfast very yum. The shakshuka was too sweet and the capsicum sauce seemed undercooked, and the long black was way too strong - more like three espressos in a mug! Service was ok but not the best, staff gave us each other's meals, etc.
Kate Dougherty
Casual little cafe that offers a pleasant atmosphere and wide menu. I ordered the Loco smash - smashed avocado, charred corn, cherry tomatoes, halloumi, a poached egg and dukkah on sourdough with a side of chorizo. This meal was genuinely delicious and incredibly generous. I especially loved the addition of the halloumi - made for a nice change from the stock standard feta.

I recently went to Loco and noticed that it had changed hands. They have completely changed the menu which is disappointing. The choice is now limited to many variations of egg based dishes and barely anything in the way of sandwiches or salads. Even though the staff were very friendly and courteous, they were not overly attentive and seemed disorganised. Every time I wanted to order I had to summon someone and it was not at all busy and they had plenty of staff. The food and coffee were great. If they can re think the menu for wider variety and train staff better, I think Loco could return to its former glory.
Larry 'James' Lotion - The Third
God awful. Service was appalling as I had my drink FORGOTTEN. Apathetic serviceman who were indifferent to the mistake make an experience at Loco a negative one. Cheesecake is overpriced and has substantially degraded in quality following the change in management. Don't waste your time as there are better cafes along Glenhuntly Road with better prices and better service.
Erin Blencowe
Amazing baristas who do your coffee exactly as you want it. Great people and service. The food is very tasty, and the specials change frequently so you'll never get bored of the flavours.

I took my son to Loco yesterday morning, rather than something closer to home, to treat him to a special birthday breakfast because of how much I loved the coffee and food there.<br/><br/>The coffee was still great, albeit going in colder than what it eventually came out of me.<br/><br/>The food is not nearly the same as stated on the black board on the wall, "different look, different lighting, same great food."<br/><br/>Perhaps this is why it wasn't nearly as busy as it used to be; they had a winning formula and have tried to keep up with all the other w@nker cafes with the must-have white tiles and change of lighting.<br/><br/>Yet another cafe that's gone down the path of looking like a public toilet with white tiles and dim lighting.<br/><br/>What really irked me was that the waiter (also part of the 'cool' theme with hipster look) trusted his memory in taking our order without writing it down; I very clearly asked for them to hold the chilli in my 10 year old son's meal of which he ate about a third before it got too hot for him.<br/>When paying and being asked how our meals were, I told the girl of this gripe and all she could offer was, "oh, that's a shame." <br/>Tell me about it!!! YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE CHARGED ME FOR THE MEAL!!!<br/><br/>I guess an apology would be an admission of fault.<br/>It bit really deep when my son later said in the car that they ruined his breakfast.<br/><br/>They used to put the eggs, mushrooms etc on the plate separately to the toast but for some reason, they have now decided to lump it on to the toast. WHY??? Did I ask for it this way???<br/><br/>Toast? I think they forgot to switch the toaster on, the bread was still so chewy and anemic.<br/><br/>They have certainly lost my custom as it seems they have others, judging by how much less busy it was than it used to be pre-w@nker upgrade.<br/><br/>With such a massive coffee culture in Melbourne's suburbs, thankfully there are still quaint, good old-fashioned cafes to go to for the coffee and food and not for the 'ambiance' or other superficial reasons that others like to dine out and pay for.

I ordered takeaway Soy coffee and it was like sludge. The staff seem nice but it's a No from me on the coffee..Happy to wait for good coffee, even decent coffee but this was in no way good or decent. Very disappointed!!
Hello. Imnikki
Excellent coffee, service that makes you smile and delicious food. I absolutely adore my dish of pumpkin polenta with avo, tomato and capsicum sugo. The tangy sauce balanced out the denseness of the polenta bread and the creamy avo added another dimension to the dish. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his pastrami bagel - a great balance of salty and sour in the flavour.

Great team, great coffee, great effort towards one of the best cafe! <br/>Always enjoy the moment sitting there grabbing a coffee and relaxing for a short period.

Loco is in many ways fairly typical for this part of Melbourne: a relaxed atmosphere, a mixed mainly local client base with as many hipsters as families and everything else (yes, even the occasional bogan), and food and coffee up to good standards. Their barista makes a credible cappuccino and a mean macchiato.

Loco now has new owners, so changing my review. <br/>Overpriced menu, and downright rude chef. <br/><br/><br/>---previous review, 4.5 stars---<br/>LOVE loco. Fantastic coffee, busy cafe with great atmosphere and well priced food. It's our regular Saturday morning haunt. <br/>Picks of the menu - Bircher muesli, Mushroom & Hummus, or the pancakes with berries.
Shimona
Enjoyed some mid afternoon drinks in this quaint cafe. I had a fresh apple carrot juice and The Hubby had an iced chai (spiced). The chai took a while to come but was well worth the wait. Lovely decor and lighting, warm and friendly staff. Good background music choice too. Will be back to try some food and the NY cheesecake looks so tempting!
David
Very casual service, was sitting a while before given a menu, then after eventually ordering, the burger I ordered took about 20 minutes to arrive. It's about two in the afternoon and they are not overly busy. The burger was pleasant but not fantastic. Coffee was good. <br/>Why do waiting staff walk to a table with food and not look around them to see if there is anyone else nearby wanting attention while they are there.
Sarah Davidson
Used to love this place, coffee is still excellent but was disappointed they changed items on their menu. Their Shahshuka was not baked eggs just a couple of poached eggs on tomato ragout. Service was also not as friendly as usual. They went from having awesome Rye bread to only white or multigrain. Probably would choose to eat here again.
LifeForFood
Such a great place for breakfast and absolutely perfect chai with honey. Have tried there twice and each time I am delighted with my order. Service is very quick and friendly despite house-full of customers. <br/><br/>I will be back soon for another great start of my day.
Oh My Green
Loco in Elsternwick is one of Chris and my favourite cafes. It’s close by our home, does good coffee and has a great selection of breakfast & lunch dishes, including heaps of vegetarian options! I almost always get a soy latte and the pumpkin & spinach polenta bread with avocado & salsa – I’ve tried to replicate this dish at home but haven’t succeeded!
Confessions Of A Little Piggy
Not wanting to travel too many kilometres for our brunch date, we decided on Loco Coffee in Elsternwick. It had been under my radar and was within in my radar. You know Manchester Press ?  Loco's the  older sibling to the infamous Manchester Press, so this got me really excited and set the bar high.  Skinny Flat White I was pretty pumped to see some tricky, crazy, out-there coffee art. However, all I got was the standard rosetta. I'll admit, I was pretty bummed. But the taste definitely made up for it. Like Manchester Press,  Loco Coffee too uses their custom blend, 8 Oz Coffee. Super smooth, creamy, full bodied with caramel highlights. I was very tempted to order another. Mushroom and Hummus Changing things up a little, I chose not to go for an avocado smash. Instead, I ordered the mushroom and hummus. Piled high with goodies, came two thick slices of sourdough, generously spread with creamy hummus, surrounded by mushrooms and two avocado wedges. Two nicely poached eggs sat on top of

I almost always get a soy latte and the pumpkin & spinach polenta bread with avocado & salsa – I’ve tried to replicate this dish at home but haven’t succeeded! Loco is very Melbourne-trendy too, with all kinds of recycled wood tables, industrial furniture features and cute waitstaff, it’s pretty great. And it’s next to a pretty sweet bookstore. Vintage Dress: found at Red Hand Designs in Hobart (same building as Oyster and Pearl ), shoes: Melissa , bag: bought at Khao San Road market in Bangkok! Sometimes it’s nice to just get all dressed up just for breakfast! xx Penny   Loco Coffee 436 Glen Huntly Rd Elsternwick, VIC

Big sister to Manchester Press in the city, Loco Coffee uses the same beans (8 Oz Coffee). However, we didn’t get the same coffee art quality to that of Manchester Press which was disappointing as we were hoping for fun coffee art!

After 2 months of travelling I come back to my regular cafe and they remember my name and coffee - and this place is always busy! Pure professionalism keep up the good work 5STARS!!

Loco loco. I have been a customer of loco for a few years and the coffee and service are amazing. They also make delicious iced chai. Service can get a little slow when they're busy, but there's a reason it's busy.
Sam
Go next door. Gave this place two visits in one week. Pancakes had frozen blueberries on top and were similar to what I can make at home. <br/>Smashed avocado was a plate of slop with massive chunks of feta. I normally inhale all my food but left most of this food on the plate. <br/>Can't fault the staff though. <br/>Sorry but Ernest v will get my hard earned from now on.
Aaaclayton
Mobile review. Ok the loco crew, great coffee but the hype doesn't live up. Sure the coffee is nice and the art is sensational, but to my understanding they do it with toothpicks or something? Can't any barista with an eye for art do this? Food was bland as well. Look it's most likely the coolest cafe on the strip but in all honesty the hype is too much.

What an awesome place - and fantastic atmosphere. I've been a regular here now for about 2 years. Such a buzzy cafe with a fantastic vibe, great coffee, and the best beef salad I've ever had! The staff are hip and friendly, service is fast, the place is always clean and for me, a great meeting place for myself, friends and clients. I like to be seen here.<br/><br/>Plus its also a great networking place - sometimes listening to others talking the local gossip is a great way to keep on touch with local happenings!!<br/><br/>Based in busy Glen Huntley Road, Elsternwick I find myself always wanting to stop off for a quick coffee. I'm still there an hour or so later, 4 coffees in, plus food then onto a muffin. Totally love this place - very worthy of a visit!
Rob
Good, solid local. Warm, inviting and spacious, this place very busy upon our arrival. The cafe is very family friendly, which is perhaps reflective of the area that it is located.<br/><br/>Our orders were promptly taken and coffees served, using local Melbourne-based 8oz coffee beans - great to see.<br/>The service was friendly and non-interruptive - something that I enjoyed. There were a couple of slip-ups; both from the same waitress (perhaps she was in training). Both coffees were swapped and both meals were swapped as well, but nothing that was not easily resolved.<br/><br/>This was delivered in good time and my first taste was of the mushrooms I had and man they were delicious! Lovely and slightly crisp on the outside, meltingly soft on the inside - very much the perfect mushroom for me. The rest of the order was great and I particularly enjoyed the lamb sausage, especially when dipped in the delightful relish accompanying the order.<br/><br/>Loco Coffee represents a solid, local destination. The fare is solid, tasty, not 'fancy' in design but presented with tasty ingredients - the ideal local cafe.

Reserved tables?????. My partner arrived at Loco cafe on 25/09/2014 and there were two tables free at the front with 'Reserved' markers. I asked a waitress if we could sit at either and she said 'They're reserved'. We had to sit right down the back near the kitchen. After 25 minutes we had finished coffee and left. The two reserved tables were still reserved. No-one had used them during the time we were there.<br/><br/>Why reserved tables at a cafe when no-one uses them?

Came here over the weekend for lunch. pretty good food coffee was also pretty good

I just had breakfast here and I've gotta say, I would be been better off getting a piece of cardboard, scooping up some doggie doo in the local park, and sprinkling lawn clippings on top. The Smashed Avocado contained ice cold tasteless feta, brown avocado and a tiny cherry tomato all atop a mini pita bread that may well have been made from polystyrene. All for $15. Truly abhorrent.<br/>But the coffee was ok.
Konkarrit
My favorite cafe. Loco has never let me down. They have amazing coffee and the food is not only delicious but quite generous when it comes to serving size. It has a great atmosphere and the back courtyard area is great for group meals.

Perfectly brewed coffee and smoothly textured milk, delicious elegant simplified flavours and Kosher options, <br/>will return!

Lousy n unfriendly service.. Too pretentious..

Miserable staff. I came in this evening and decided to sit down for a coffee. The man who served me seemed bothered by me but that is subjective. My coffee came out and the person serving me didn't speak or make eye contact when putting my coffee down and did not respond to my 'thank you.' Coffee looked great with some latte art from the barista, however my spoon had two hunks of yellow sauce dried onto which was pretty disappointing. Coffee tasted fantastic, really impressive. I didn't feel like the staff were approachable so I didn't make it an issue. I payed at the counter and the man who I dealt with throughout the entire encounter looked at me and said '3.50' nothing else and again no response to my thanks. I would get take away coffee from the place but I wouldn't bother them with my presence again.

Slowly but surely the service has deminished and today will be the last time I will go there. The food is not good enough to warrant putting up with it the poor service either....... Good luck to you Loco, with more great places opening up in Elsternwick the time will come when all your regulars move on!
Claire
Best coffee. This place serves the great coffee, the food was tasty and generous in size. Staff are friendly and the place has a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend trying this place.

Hot milk passed off as coffee. This place used to serve decent coffee. Not anymore.<br/>I ordered a latte and it had very little coffee in it.<br/>When I said something there was no offer to replace it.<br/>Not even an apology. Pathetic!

This place has absolutely amazing coffee! If you love your coffee, Loco Coffee will not disappoint! Furthermore, their wait service is fantastic! Very friendly and attentive. Plus their food is also great! Do yourself a favour and give this place a try!

Best coffee. I love Loco Coffee. It's a vibrant happening cafe with a warm ambiance and great food and service. The Coffee is fantastic and once you've been there you wont want your fix from anywhere else. The food is divine and the staff outstanding. Well done.

Consistently good coffee. A fan of the smashed Avo.

Good food, good dudes, good coffee, id be back if it wasnt so far from me!

Best Sanga Ever. Best chicken sandwich ever!!! I had it with extra bacon and the fillet was well-marinated, tender and full of flavours. So satisfying with a great cup of coffee after. Very reasonable price too.

Neighbourhood fav. Great coffee, great staff, great food! When i lived nearby I was here all the time! Still love their breakfasts - lunch menu has not been as good since the changed my favourite chicken sandwich but still well worth the trip. An old favourite still hitting its straps. Recommended.

Coffee always been superb. New menu is a little average so I find myself not ordering food when I'm there. For the coffee alone... Still a winner!

An Elsternwick Gem. Loco is one of the gems in Elsternwick's foodie crown. No weekend is complete without popping into Loco for some delicious coffee and the best pancakes in Goldstein! Aesthetically, I love the subway tiles and the modern Japanese theme going on though the food is definitely not Asian!

Used to be better.... I have been coming here for years, and was most disappointed on my last two visits. The food in general seems different, but we especially miss the delicious bread they used to have which really rounded out our brunches. I can only assume the chef changed and with that their bread... now we just go straight to the original bakery in Balaclava and bypass the disappointing brunch!!

Heavenly Coffee. The pick of all the cafes in Elsternwick. Coffee is sublime, food is solid and the atmosphere is funky without being bohemian. Highly Recommend

Coffee Artistes. Great coffee, discovered these guys only after going to their CBD cafe, Manchester Press. The coffee art is second to none and the actual taste of the coffee is top notch. I drop in often for a takeaway, it's always busy enough without being crowded and I love their quirky staff.

They have some interesting characters working here, but who are we to judge each other. Meals, coffee n service are good n we will b back

FABULOUS coffee, service, food, atmosphere! This place is bustling and for good reason. And the coffee art -it was so beautiful I almost didn't want to spoil it by drinking, but the coffee is just so darn good it's impossible to resist. I will be back to work my way through the menu and the various coffee faces!! Top work guys - your passion shows!

Best coffee in Elsternwick, make that Melbourne! Am really surprised at any negative reviews. Love the menu, plenty to choose from and always delicious. Service has always been good, with one exception when we were forgotten, but the lovely friendly longhaired waiter/ barista made up for it by giving our lunch on the house. Love the decor n layout too. Never had any pregnancy probs myself unlike other reviewer. I went to loco regularly before and then with my under 4 month old baby plus pram and they were very accommodating. We loved this place and it is one of the things we miss the most about melbourne, having moved overseas.

This place has a frenetic, happy atmosphere and I always find the staff to be warm and attentive. On a strip filled with bakeries, I still think Loco has the best pastries in town (the apricot muffin, delicious!!) It can be at times difficult to get a table, but if you are happy to wait it's worth it.

A bit meh!. Have been here before and it was ok but this time it was fairly average. My poached eggs were miserly and the avocado had far too much feta in it.

Wake up. Good strong coffee, not bitter, well made. good service, yummy, massive and cheap BLT with egg highly reccomended. partnered with a long black = hangover cure.

Read about Loco in the Age cafe guide and decided to check it out. Great coffee, good service and nice breakfast.

Very disappointing. Food was average, the "too cool for school" waiters brought the wrong food to our table 3 times. Had to jump up and down to be noticed for assistance. Very ordinary.....
