A really different twist on burgers, Indian fusion, very tasty great service by very friendly owner my partner, my nephew and myself enjoyed our burgers, chips and onion rings.My only gripe is that the music was just a bit loud but all in all very impressed.

We started with the Butter chicken Poutine. Fries loaded with a sauce which Payal swears by, it’s her family recipe and god how we loved it.
Creamy and smoky, not very sweet. It’s the real deal guys!!
The Karahi Chicken Naan rolls was another winner for us. The spice well balanced with chicken cooked to perfection, served with soft Indian bread.
Special shoutout to the biryani arancini that was pure genius of a dish!
Classic Indian rice dish stuffed in a classic Italian cheese ball. How can you not love fusion?
Along to keep your tastebuds happy, the cocktails are a must have. Would highly recommend the Badam-ash Thandai that had such a great hit of rum along with spices of cardamom, saffron and nutmeg.
I love sweet drinks so this was amazing!
Other things to definitely try out is the momos, pakoras and Indian fusion burgers.

What's not to love about this cool and funky restaurant in the heart of Elsternwick. The minute you walk in and see the wall length mural of Indian gods chowing down with burgers and beers, and the neon 'Namaste bitches'sign; you know that you are in for some fun Indian fusion cuisine. Specialising in mega burgers, wraps and loaded fries; all with Indian flavours. Think of the biggest butter chicken burger that you can imagine, and you will find yourself at Burger Shurger.
We were greeted by a fabulously lovely member of staff, and sat by the front door, where we could appreciate the funky decor and comfortable furniture. Starting with epic cocktails, including a spicy green mango margarita, we perused the sizeable menu, and placed our order.
We started with biriyani arancini, which was the best combination of Indian flavoured rice cooked in the traditional Italian deep fried ball. Yum. These punched with flavour, were crispy and light; and the divine curry sauce and yogurt dressing worked perfectly together.
Deciding against the massive burgers, we went with the traditional samosa chat, and some tender chicken naan wraps. The Samosa Chat was my favourite dish. The beautifully golden and fragrant samosas were smashed on a bed of curried beans and sauce. There was so much spice in this dish, and the level of heat was just right.
The chicken wraps were also excellent. Marinated curry chicken again, was full of flavour, and the meat itself was moist and succulent. The naans made perfect wraps. So soft, warm and pillowy. Pickled onions and yogurt dressing were great accompaniments, and everything was balanced and delicious.
By now, we were completely stuffed, and more than satisfied with this delicious meal. Service was prompt, the staff super friendly, and the atmosphere fun and relaxed. With such a fabulous menu, in a niche of it's own, Burger Shurger is a great place for a delicious lunch or dinner. The Indian fusion flavours really do cross over well in this format, and you will be blown away by how delicious everything is. Next time I visit, I will starve myself all day, just so I can try one of their massive burgers, and I honestly can't wait!!

According to me, no one has done it better than Payal who owns and runs the restaurant. She was very welcoming and immediately began to introduce her dishes, explaining the concept and reason for blending different cuisines with Indian flavours.
The place is very colourful and eye catching, located in Elsternwick. As you enter you see a wonderful wall painting of the Indian diety and Gods at the Last Supper, representing the diverse land that India is. Here's some of the dishes we tasted and enjoyed:
•Butter Chicken Fries - The main focus of the dish is the butter chicken sauce which is generously poured all over the fries. This is also the same sauce that is used in the butter chicken burger. The best of the sauce is that it is NOT sweet and is the actual mildly spicy butter chicken gravy that we enjoy.
•Chicken Momos - This dish included Nepalese style momos served in a spicy red chutney. The mild chicken momos and sauce complemented each other well.
•Biryani Aranchini Balls - If you ever wanted to eat biryani with your bare hands, here's the place to go! This dish included a soya rice biryani cooked with aromatic Indian spices and coated with crumbed Aranchini which was then deep fried.
•Mr 65 Burger - One of the best burgers we have had! The chicken 65 flavours were not too overpowering and the aioli suace was just amazing!
•Chettinad Bao - The baos were super fresh! The chicken was cooked in wonderful South Indian flavours and when paired with the baos they were just melt in the mouth. This item is a must have!
•Masala Chai Cremebrulee - You might think that having just one item in the dessert seciton is too risky, but this dish wins in all the right categories! The pudding was flavoured with lightly spiced herbs of the famous Indian tea and the sugar sheet on top was perfectly caramalised.
We washed it all down with some Thums up, a classic fizzy drink of India (which we are addicted to, lol). The best part of Burger Shurger is that each dish is so different from each other in taste and flavour that your tastebuds will go crazy with the variety.
Payal is extremely passionate about her work and it shows in the food and dishes. Will definitely be going back for more!
Amazing food! Worth driving 40 mins to get here. Really authentic flavours. Biryani arancini balls are the bomb plus they have the most courteous waiting staff. Will be back soon!

Burger Shurger combines Indian food in a modern contemporary way, particularly in burger form - their renowned for their Butter chicken burger and it lives up to the hype, the curry is authentic and the chicken is super tender! Their Chilli crab burger and the Shurgenator is also a notable mention. For sides, we loved the maggi noodles, onion rings and loaded fries. Highly recommend the cocktails which also are inspired by Indian cuisine and culture. Love the mural and neon, the venue has great vibes and you can tell it’s popular with locals.

Indian fusion burger anyone? Burger Shurger is shaking things up in the burger-sphere by combining everyone's favourite cheat meal with Indian flavours. Think butter chicken burger or butter chicken loaded fries, malai kebab burger, biryani arancini balls and even the cocktails are Indian-influenced.
We were warmly welcomed by the friendly and knowledgeable owner, Payal on arrival, and were soon tucking into one of my most memorable meal of 2019. The Mr 65 burger and Malai Kebab burgers that we tried we both amazing in their own different ways. The former comprised of a succulent and crispy piece of fried chicken, paired with their housemade sauce that was a combination of bold and punchy flavours. The latter was a great example of how sous vide is the way to cook a chicken. Tender and juicy, and went exceptionally well with the bright flavour of the mint-coriander chutney.
Indian dishes are not shy on flavours at all, and this is definitely the case here. Pulled chicken cooked in ghee, curry leaves and coconut milk - is there any wonder why the chicken chettinad baos were the first to be demolished? Creamy and rich, with an aromatic bite to it. The hot and tangy flavour characteristic of a biryani was also evident in the biryani arancini balls. Even the simple but wonderfully cooked chicken momos came accompanied by a spicy and tangy red chutney.
Don't forget the butter chicken fries. One of the most delicious loaded fries I have ever had. Crispy fries topped with tender pieces of chicken and doused in slightly sweet yet spicy butter chicken gravy - heaven!
Cocktails will not disappoint too, there's an interesting variety of of beers, spirits and even Indian cola.
Fusion cuisine can be a tricky thing, but Burger Shurger has shown that it can be done with ease. A faultless meal, and I cannot wait to return. Thank you.

Ever since I left India for Melbourne, I never really had a chance to taste the real Indian food. I have tried many famous restaurants across the city, and eventually, I gave up. Never in my million dreams, I thought I would experience the real Indian Butter Chicken from a Burger Place. Here is the story of me discovering the taste of India in the streets of Melbourne.
Located in the lovely suburb of Elsternwick, Burger Shurger offers you with a handpicked selection of Indian fusion dishes especially, burgers. The lovely owner invited my friend and me for review purposes. Not to worry, this review is not at all biased, and emotions are poured from the heart.
Foods ordered: Malai Kebab Chicken Burger, The Mighty Butter Chicken, Chicken Chettinad Bao, Momos Chicken, Masala Chai Creme Brulee, Aam Panna (Tangy Mango) Margarita and Classic Virgin Mojito with an Indian Twist.
Ambiance: As you would expect, Indian songs fill up the place and offers you a Desi welcome. The outside area could use some more customization as it looks like two tables and chairs on a sidewalk. Maybe the council regulations, but the evening sunlight has to be taken care of if people want to sit out there.
Customer Service: The owner manages herself during weekdays and weekends; there will be two staff — however, its good to have one extra staff all the time to keep it functional. I can't judge the customer care based on how we were treated; but, as I was observing the other tables, they all found pleased, and the response was prompt.
Food Quality and Quantity: The quantities satisfied our hunger pangs. The owner's in-depth knowledge about the menu helped us a lot. A rare occasion where we felt delighted, especially, my Asian friend wanted to know what exactly he is eating.
As I have updated on Instagram, for the first time in Melbourne Butter Chicken Tasted like the original Indian version and not some "Sugary Chicken Curry." I am not a fan of the Malai Kebab. It was my mistake ordering that I should have thought Malai means a lot of creams and lacks any strong masala flavor. If you are not into spicy food, then Malai Kebab burger is a good option. I wanted my Chinese friend to try the Momo's as we were fed up eating dumplings. The sauce was lip-smacking. The Masala Chai Creme Brulee was a surprising twist. The texture was perfect for a creme brulee, and yet it tasted like having a creamy masala chai — perfect amount of sweetness and a well-executed idea. The Aam Panna Margarita was so refreshing. However, the drink I liked the most was the Virgin Mojito with Chaat Masala.
Value for money: Compared to other premium burger places in town, Burger Shurger will happily be my place to go if I wanted to try a burger. It's good to look back and dive into the tastes of your own country now and then.
PS: On the menu, there were no options for non-alcoholic beverages other than soft drinks and some juices. I wish there were a Mocktails menu which can attract many customers and will look great on Instagram. Overall, 5/5, not because it was a sponsored review because it genuinely made me happy. Great work. I love to recommend this place to anyone.
Indian flavors with a twist - finger lickn’ good!
Been there a few times now. Absolutely great food & service at this place. Being a butter chicken & a burger lover, burger-shurger hits all the right spots with indian-fusion burgers especially butter chicken burger, it’s a must try. While you are there also try biryani aranchini, kadai chicken naan & chicken chettinad bao and if you’re still hungry order masala maggi noodles & chicken momos. We actually ate all of that haha..
This place will leave you speechless with it’s awesomely creative food.
I have been going to this place every week for 2 months now. The food tastes great and there is always something new to try. The couple who own the restaurant are super friendly and very receptive to feedback.
Received such a warm and friendly service. The person who served us was prompt and only offered genuine smiles.
Food - eclectic menu, quality ingredients and great taste. We ordered Say cheese and Shami burger. The taste was very authentic indian and was bursting of flavors.
I'm not a beer drinker but tried their Dainton flat white beer. I absolutely loved it.
The owner advised they make sure to have beers that are different rather than the usual.
And that beer is worth have a try.

The concept of Indian fusion into Burgers is an extraordinary idea.
The restaurant is owned by Payal, a woman with full passion and enthusiasm to serve customers.
The ambiance is really chilling and comfortable.
The food & service here was so good but I had no option but to get back again in the following next week.
It's hard to differentiate and would be unjustice if I rated any of the food below a perfect 5.
But here is a suggestion of a few dishes which is my personal must try dishes without fail if it's your first visit here.
1. Vadapav Burger (extremely close to Mumbai's famous Vadapav)
2. Butter chicken burger.(Typical Delhi-wala Butter chicken with a black bun)
3. Pataka Ribs.
4. Not to forget Thums up. (Famous Indian soft drink with some strong fizz)

I would highly recommend this restaurant as a must try when in Melbourne.
It's a highly accessible place through public transport just a min walk from Elsternwick station, free 1P street parking is also available which is a huge sight of relief.
Excellent food and service! We had the shaitani mojito, chicken Chettinad bao, fries with butter chicken sauce and paneer, the chicken 65 burger and Keema pav. Everything tasted great, but the only thing that didn’t meet my expectations was the chicken 65 burger. I was expecting the true Indian chicken 65 which is normally bright red, spicy and packed full of flavour. Felt the burger lacked that and lacked sauce but nevertheless, it still tasted good... just tasted more like a western southern fried chicken burger.
Service was very efficient. The only thing I would suggest is for the waitresses to slow down a bit. Before we could even finish our food, or had JUST finished, the waitress was there grabbing our plates etc. Didn’t feel like the kind of place where we can just relax, eat and drink slowly. Just felt like we were slightly pressured to eat quickly... even though the restaurant wasn’t full. will definitely be back though!
When a place does momos (Indian/Nepalese dumplings) n they do them right, they quickly become a regular favourite.

Great food combined with a innovative array of cocktails (recommend the shaitani mojito & their take on old fashion with @johnniewalker white walker whisky 🥃) ~ they are a good night waiting to happen 🎉

However their menu looks very interesting, so wouldn't mind trying a few other dishes! $40 for one main and two decently portioned sides. Would reccomend giving it a try if you're in the area

Being from India myself, i had huge hopes from this place. The dishes on the menu sounded amazing..and i was so keen on tasting a lot of the dishes from their menu..hence i decided to take a big bunch of my friends.

•The butter chicken burger (for myself)
The fried chicken patty was super crispy on the outside and so juicy on the inside.. made to perfection indeed. It had their special butter chicken sauce and raita n coriander chutney. I took my first bite.. and i was instantly in love. There was so much flavour in the burger but everything was such nicely balanced.
•Mr.65 burger (upsize and with extra maggie noodles)

•Nepalese chicken momos
Momos are basically dumplings. So whats so special about them? Not only do these nepalese momos have spices to give amazing flavour to the filling..it is accompanied with a spicy red chutney. And that is a game changer!!!
•Beef vindaloo meatball pockets
Okay so these are basically beef meatballs wrapped inside a piece of naan (bread) that you usually see at almost every Indian restaurant. The one thing that stuck with me about this dish was even with the overload of spiciness of the meatballs..the flavours were still intact.
•Butter chicken fries
These were like loaded fried..but in this case with butter chicken sauce. If you love having butter chicken and are also a fan of fries then you’d definitely love this combination.
•Chicken Chettinad Bao
This was the most beautifully presented dish according to me. The bao was super soft and the chicken tasted just like home made. For a minute..you would forget that the filling is actually from a restaurant. Loved every detail of this dish. Do try this dish for sure 👍🏽
•Masala maggi noodles
I wont lie..i came most importantly for this dish. Growing up i have had a lot of maggi noodles and the wide variety of noodle options that Melbourne has to offer..i somehow forgot to get back to basics. This dish was walking down memory lane with an added flavour. Absolutely loved it. Do try this dish for sure 👍🏽

LIT! 🔥: After reading everyone rave about the butter chicken burger, I had to get one and it didn’t disappoint. The chicken was pretty crispy and they were very generous with the sauce. Interesting take on Indian fusion.
NOT SO LIT 🙃: however the portion size was small for $16 as it doesn’t come with any sides.
I now know that I’d much prefer a patty over minced meat as the minced meat was more messy to eat and was quite dry.

Cannot fault this place. Food is full of flavour. Butter Chicken sauce just like Delhi. The menu reads really well and definitely delivers. Some of the fusion dishes we tasted were super tasty. Bao Chettinad, Biryani Balls, Gobhi 65 and Mr.65 Burger are definitely worth a try. Amazing service too.
Finally tried Burger Shurger and excited to share they lived up to their online hype! I've heard friends rave about the butter chicken burger and it was delicious. Tender chicken and flavourful curry. Tried Thums Up (India's #1 Cola brand) along with innovative take on traditional dishes such as butter chicken fries! Yummmmm. I'd recommend you try the arancini and momos too.

The food at Burger Shurger is definitely something that foodies (even veggies!) cannot be missed! The dishes that I ordered were the Vada Pav, Butter Chicken fries and the Biryani Arancini Balls- they were all equally mouth-watering! and unique. Absolutely loved Burger Shurger - came here with some mates and we had a feast. One of the favourite and must try burgers is the Mighty Butter chicken burger!!! We also had their in-house selected beers and ciders and thoroughly enjoyed some of Melbourne's local brewery.
Some of the dishes that everyone should try are the butter chicken fries and aranchini balls - they were amazing.
Came here with some of my friends after seeing them pop up on my news feed. Really wanted to try the Mighty Butter Chicken Burger (because I absolutely love butter chicken) and can I just say, how impressed I am with that burger. Everything about it was on point, the sauce, the crispness of the chicken and the charcoal bun!
They also have a great selection of craft beers and reasonable prices!

Heard about this since some time now and have been here a few times before. We went here for the food but was very impressed by the cocktails as well. Unfortunately I couldn’t snap the pictures of everything we ate.
The Crispy Chilli potatoes were a perfect combo of sweet and spicy and very very tasty. The momos were also VERY VERY yummy, especially the spicy chutney. The Mr. 65 burger is a reoccurring favourite and I see myself ordering it every time I visit this place.
The highlight of the entire restaurant has to be the cocktails. We tried 5 of them and all of them were so good. I might just go back again and again for the cocktails.
Overall, it was an amazing experience and I will be going back for the food, alcohol and the picturesque ‘namaste bitches’

Quite in a mood to have some good burgers, and Zomato Gold Membership offer made it quite easy for us to choose Burger Shurger,also we were craving for Wills Batch Ice cream and these two are quite close to each other.
Ordered a Chicken Naan Wrap, Butter Chicken Burger and Chilly Potatoes.
Chicken wrap was DeLish....With perfectly cooked and spiced Chicken and a drizzle of Raita dressing and Onion salad. Butter Chicken Burger had a crispy fried Chicken Patty with Butter Chicken dressing and it was yummy as well.
The disappointment was Chilly potatoes which looked like ketchup drizzled over chips tempered in garlic. Would have liked some authentic taste there.
Deserves a round of applause for not just putting the effort of fusing Indian cuisine with Burgers and Chips but also serving food that is Finger-Licking-Good.
Plenty of vegetarian / vegan to choose from, they also have a well stocked bar and Thumbs-Up (Indian version of Cola).
Attendants are amazingly warm and sweet. Definitely returning.

Stumble across the burger joint on Monday night.
A bit early as no customer yet at 6pm.
The kebab burger was excellent but the cheese burger was a bit average.
Opened about a year and the staff were very polite and attentive .
Probably one of the most unique concepts in Melbourne combining burgers and Indian, and it works! Went for the butter chicken burger which was bursting with flavour. The meat was tender and the outside was crispy. The buns where soft. Another stand out was the arancini biryani, nothing like I’ve ever eaten before! The dumplings where bursting of flavour and if you like spicy that sauce they come with packs a punch! The mushroom baos where light yet filling. Can’t wait to come back, looking forward to trying that chai creme brûlée next time as I will make room for dessert!

It was raining and was cold so we wanted to eat something spicy and hot to satisfy our taste buds. We have passed by this place few times but never bothered to enter until last night. As soon as we entered we were warmly welcomed by the owner herself Payal. She was very welcoming and offered us the table. We were going through the menu and not sure what to order and asked for her help as what’s their speciality. She was very polite and friendly and gave us a quick run down of their popular dishes. We took her suggestion and slaved by our taste buds ordered 4 dishes. (As shown in the picture). I’m a vegetarian and was shocked to see how many options they have. I was really pleased. Order came through quick. One by one we had all the four dishes on our table. We couldn’t resist and started digging in. And too my surprise it was just delicious. Their vegetarian momos are simply delicious. I haven’t had such good momos in Melbourne at all. Their momo sauce is mouth watering. (Very spicy) but loved it. I kept on licking it. Chilly mushroom bao are amazing too. Very nicely done, bao is soft and moist, chilly sauce has flavours to it. Loaded fries are very heavy. You can’t finish it by yourself (share between 2-3 people). But they are tasty as well. (If you like spicy food, try having their loaded butter paneer fries with momo sauce) you will love it.
Over all very good food and worth the money. (People who have had butter chicken sauce in other restaurants may not like this one as it’s different but authentic, also vegetarians can have it too as it’s vegetarian sauce and replaced by paneer instead of chicken).

Who'd have thought Indian food and Burgers can go together on a plate, but these guys did and nailed the flavors. Restaurant itself is quite small but food and service makes up for it.
I had an average experience on Uber order as my food was cold but for some reason decided to go in to eat and turned out to be a great decision.
Good selection of drinks too, I tried 2 Indian whiskeys with spicy Prawn dish and Butter Chicken Burger for my main.

The passion for food and flavour is very evident at this beautiful establishment. The mural on the wall complements the vibe with the sassy neon lights right opposite it. The food is just divine - a perfect blend of India and Australia.

Burger shurger was recommended by a friend and is now one of my favourite burger places. The butter chicken fries have so much flavour. The chettinad bao is a must try and their burgers are definitely worth the hype. Going to be a regular at burger shurger for sure. 😊
Highly recommend this place. Such authentic Indian flavours are quite rare in Melbourne. The food is flavourful and and really packs a punch. They’ve really picked the right Indian flavours to infuse into a burger or bao and the food is super creative. My recommendation would be the malai chicken kebab burger❤️

From the Masala Maggi to the Chettinad Bao’s, each dish brings a completely different taste palate in all of its glory! 😍 Lets start with the MASALA MAGGI.. Bruh.. can i just say that I have found the new noodle CHAMP IN TOWN?! 🏆 Sorry Mi Goreng.. You have to try it to know what I’m getting at here.. these noods are EPIC! 👌🏽 Next up is the Aloo Parantha! *clears throat* think about the best cheese toastie you’ve had and throw it in the bin lol these toasted parantha’s are filled with a potato, cheese and curry blend that will make you say “WOW’ in your head then out loud without you even realising it 🤭 Next up was the Chicken Chettinad Bao’s! 😉 At this stage I was certain the next dish was going to balance the spread out and be average. 4.5. Delicious! A great concept to combine Indian flavours in a burger and it worked perfectly. The mighty butter chicken burger had a very generous serve of tasty sauce on crispy succulent chicken. The veggies were fresh and the sesame seed bun was perfect to hold in all the ingredients of this very yummy burger. I thought chicken burgers couldn’t get much tastier, but then I tried my partner’s Mr 65 and the special sauce in this burger blew me away. So tasty. We also ordered the butter chicken fries and these were delicious, probably one of the best loaded fries I’ve had. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to come back to try their vegetarian burgers, especially the vada pav. Nice atmosphere and service was prompt and friendly.

The food here is fantastic! It was impossible to choose from the mouth-watering menu and we loved each of the four dishes we tried. The Vada Pav burger and Chicken Karahi naan rolls were amazing. The service was very welcoming and attentive. Can’t wait to go back!

The burgers at Burger Shurger are some of the tastiest and most inventive burgers we’ve ever tried! From a gorgeous and authentic butter chicken burger, to a roti with vegetarian and cheese filling (called an Aloo Kaise-Diya 😉) the food was mouth wateringly good!! With drinks to match including an amazing refreshing cucumber martini, with the perfect amount of sweetness, an Indian whiskey that’ll surprise you, and a funky neon-retro interior, this is one not to miss!!
Everything about this place was amazing - food, drinks, ambience and service. Their Indian flavours were better than most Indian restaurants. It should be a must try Indian fusion burger joint.

There really is something for everyone at this Indian burger joint. Whether you want a classic burger or something interesting and different.
We tried the curried potato burger (vada pav), the falafel burger, the Gobi fried cauliflower and the fried bun pakora! All the flavours and colours were amazing. Such an epic Indian burger spread!

I love Indian food and I love burgers. When you combine the two, it should be incredible, right? Well, it's close. Many people have said to try it here, and I'm glad I finally did. It is quite small inside, so probably best to make a reservation if you really want to be sure of getting a table. Speaking of which, the tables are downright small, and to be honest, when ordering a few sharing dishes, it's almost impossible to eat/move as there are plates, cutlery, glasses and food all over the show and that was a little annoying.
To the food ... We shared the Butter Chicken Fries and they were ok. The fries themselves weren't anything special (though nice), but the sauce was quite flavoursome. It was a bit on the hot side, and we totally forgot to ask for the dishes to be made mild. The flavour of the sauce wasn't as I know Butter Chicken to be. It had more of a cinnamon and nutmeg flavour throughout, which yes, was nice, but not like the Butter Chicken you might be expecting. I also ordered the Butter Chicken Burger, because that's just two of my favourite foods together. It was good. Just good. It came on a black bun (which is sweet, and yet the filling is savoury. So if you don't like mixing sweet and savoury ... just keep it in mind). The chicken was crumbed beautifully and tasted good. The sauce was different to that of the fries. It was definitely closer to what I'd get at an Indian restaurant. It came with onion and lettuce and I asked them to take out the mint yoghurt. It's pretty hard to eat. I found it best to take off the top bun and just eat it with a knife and fork. I suppose a guy with big hands, big mouth and big appetite would be fine, but I'm dainty 😉 . The flavour was great. I really enjoyed it. My dinning companion also ordered the Popcorn Chicken that had a cheese sauce on it. She said it was over cooked, but flavourful. I personally didn't like the cheese. It's not a cheese sauce per se; it's just melted cheese and it was a little strong for my liking.
Overall. The food was good and worthy of another visit, though not in a hurry. The service was good. The food came out quickly and the staff were all friendly. I thought there was good value there, and I'd be happy one day to come here again. Definitely a must for burger and Indian fans.

This remains on the top of my list even when it’s only the first time I tried their food. Why?
Because I’m etched to the fantastic fusions they create. I am a strong admirer of amalgamating creativity with food and here we are- witnessing them doing the same.
They’ve got a variety of lip-smacking burgers and what not.
The dishes I tried -
Pav bhaji burger, Vada Pao burger, Gobhi, Paneer fries and mushroom bao. All these were spot on- perfect!
The smell of the food as you walk in is delicious. The decor is great. The service was very friendly and inviting. The food was fantastic. Masala fries and butter chicken burgers were a hit with my family. I loved the Indian flavours with the burger fusion. My cider came in a chilled glass which shows really good attention to detail. Will come here again. Well done Burger Shurger!

Interesting twist on the usual burger/sides combos. Loved the paneer loaded fries and burger! It wasn't too spicy and still had a good mix of Indian flavours. Great quick service and friendly staff. Definitely returning to try out the rest of the menu.

As you enter this cosy little Indian inspired burger place you are welcomed by an interesting mural painting of Indian religious figures and a delightful marriage of infrequent aperitif in their bar collection.
The menu offers a weird but a wide variety of mouth-watering food selection with an Indian twist which is just not restricted to burgers. My favourite is the must-try Vada Pav Burger for the vegetarians and for all the meat lovers without a doubt I would call for The Mighty Butter Chicken or Beef it Up which is juicy, saucy and just the right fusion to experience something different. Burger Shurger is an overture owned by young Indian couple Payal and Prasuk who are hardworking, passionate and foodie which surely reflects through their service.
The flavours, hospitality and their service are worth spending your time and money. I had a pleasant dining experience with food and the charming couple who are always around willing to exchange interesting conversation. For this reason, I would highly recommend going to this Burger place. I am surely heading there soon again with my group of friends to try something new on my plate and the Masala Chai Crème Brulee.
Of course, like usual, I was blown away by this place because I didn’t actually read it was Indian styled burgers! I was super excited to try them, and love the interior of the joint. The owner was so hospitable, made us feel welcome and helped us choose our food. Now, I’m weak. I can’t handle spice, so thankfully they offered me alternatives that made my experience a lot better. Now if you just want a plain old burger, they offer this as well. We were also obsessed by the popcorn chicken, it was delicious! Ensure you get those! This place entered the scene with something unique which you might not find anywhere in #Melbourne and it was - Indian Burgers & finger food! The way this place adds Indian flavours to the burgers is really commendable!
Coming to the interiors - its a decent sized place with quirky interiors and you won't stop clicking pictures of the wall art or the illuminated 'Namaste B*tches' signboard!
We just had to order the Mighty Butter Chicken Burger 🍔(coz it is the talk of the town & couldn't resist it myself). I asked them to add an extra layer of chicken patty & some cheese sauce coz i like big burgs & I cannot lie 😋😂
And man it did not disappoint! Saucy, cheesy and honestly got a lil messy but I wouldn't mind it all 😍
Along with that we ordered Chicken Karahi Naan Roll which was marinated chicken wrapped in a rolls with some chutneys & onions! This was really good.
In the vegetarian, I ordered the Vada Pav burger which is their take on the Indian vada pav which in itself is an Indian burger! Topped with some garlic chutney & green mint chutney and some bhujia, even this was a good effort! Not completely like the real vada pav but it was a good fusion! Order a bottle of Thums up (Indian cola) and the favour multiplies two fold ♥️
On the side we ordered some loaded fries and also a sauce dip which is used by them for the Mr.65 burger! The fries were good but man that dip was amazing! Do not miss that dip!
Along with so much of food I got myself a locally brewed beer from Little Creatures - Dog Days & also a rose flavoured cocktail - Indian Bride.
Overall, really loved this place and hats off to the chefs for pulling off the gutsy fusions and flavours! Must visit place in Melbourne and cant wait to visit them again!

Burger Shurger is located on Glenhuntly Road in Elsternwick. Offering a wide range of Indian style burgers & sides, I was excited to check this place out.
We had to try the Mighty Butter Chicken Burger, fried chicken topped with house made butter chicken sauce, yoghurt, mint chutney & slaw. This had all the flavours of butter chicken in a burger, a very creative fusion.
The Room for Shroom included a crumbed cheesy mushroom, cheese, lettuce & chilli aioli on a beetroot bun. The cheesy mushroom patty was absolutely delicious, full of flavour & very different to a plain mushroom on a burger. We added onion rings which also added a nice crunch.
We really loved the range of sides & chose the butter chicken poutine & the gobhi 65. The gobhi 65 was super tasty cauliflower florets fried in chickpea batter & tossed in 65 sauce. Packed with Indian flavours we devoured these little morsels. The butter chicken poutine, fries loaded with butter chicken gravy & shredded chicken, so much to love about this side & so different from the norm.
We didn’t really need dessert but were talked into sharing the Masala Chai Creme Caramel & this was divine. A great crack on top as we spooned in the creamy chai caramel. Not too sweet & a dessert dish I’d happily have again.
Burger Shurger also has a great range of beers, ciders & wines, perfect for washing down your Indian feed. We tried the Masala Chai Whisky Sour & the Lychee Martini which were both delicious.
For a tasty & interesting Indian burger experience, I’d recommend trying Burger Shurger for some excellent flavours & a great range of dishes. Thanks so much for having us.
My son wanted a burger dinner so we just walked into this place. The Indian fusion was unexpected but delightful. We had a really great family meal. I especially enjoyed my chicken roti. My husband had the big butter chicken burger which was full of flavour. My son had a traditional cheeseburger and it got the thumbs up! And a really great selection of craft beer made my husband happy.
Apart from discovering delicious food, the other great aspect of being a restaurant reviewer is getting to hear the stories of how each restaurant starts its journey. Sometimes it’s a Chef who wants to showcase his signature style of cooking, but sometimes it’s just ordinary people with an incredible passion for good food.
Finally decided to head on down my local area and try out the new kid on the block. While the place may look small, the flavors and color of their burgers with a Indian take will definitely satisfy your burger cravings. Highly recommend you go and try out this place for yourself.
Opened since April 2018, Burger Shurger is the brain child of Payal Bisht and Prasuk Jain, two young and enthusiastic foodies.
The concept came to them in 2014 while they were trying to convince their parents to try an Aussie burger. With their parents persisting on only having Indian food, the couple created a unique combination of American and Indian food which delighted their parents palates – hence the birth of a stunning range of Indian inspired burgers which now sit on Burger Shurger’s menu.
The word “fusion” is thrown around a lot these days and often result with an undesirable state of “confusion”. It’s not the case here. These babies are sheer deliciousness. Expect the flavours in these burgers to be nothing short of authentic – you’ll be transported to the streets of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and other parts of India when you devour Burger Shurger’s stunning selection.

Have you ever seen a BUTTER CHICKEN BURGER? If the answers "No", then check them out! They don't just have Chicken on the menu, they also have Spiced Lamb, Juicy Lucy's, Vegetarian Options, Masala Brulee and various different sides. This place has done something no one else has, INDIAN FUSION BURGERS! And believe it or not, it works SO bloody well! I can't stress enough how original and delicious their menu items are!
I actually visited quite a few months ago but I can see from the reviews it has only become better.
I loved their MIGHTY BUTTER CHICKEN and VADA PAV BURGER! The Vada Pav has a spicy mashed potato patty, with a spiced green sauce layered on it, and as someone with Indian heritage I can confirm these flavours are authentic!
The sauce for the butter chicken burger is made in house and just adds so much flavour, so happy this place exists!
In a time where there's probably an excess of burger joints in Melbourne, Burger Shurger manages to create something really unique!
Came here on Friday night and had the gobi 65 (deep fried cauliflower), butter chicken burger and the keema pav (lamb mince) burger.
Highly recommend the gobi 65 and butter chicken burger, both really unique, delicious and packed of flavour. The lamb mince burger whilst not as interesting/creative tasting was still a nice burger.
Lovely staff too. Will return for more Indian style burgers and sides!

Definitely one of the most unique burger joints in Melbourne!
This burger joint is indian inspired from burgers to sides and even drinks! We ordered the famous Might Butter Chicken burger with an extra masala beef patty. The burger was juicy and super tasty with the homemade butter chicken sauce. Unlike the usual bright orange butter chicken sauce, this sauce was homemade a delicious texture from ground nuts. We also tried their more original non-indian burger the Juicy Lucy which had a Sous Vide patty (if you haven't tried sous vide, you must!) The Patty was juicy and filled with melted cheese (beware!). For sides we had the Ghobi 65, deep fried cauliflower tossed in No.65 sauce which was our favourite ! We also have the Crispy Chilli Potatoes which we found tasty but would of preferred the chips to be crunchier.
We were also lucky to try their Masala Chai Tea Creme Brûlée. It was delicious! a perfect way to end a burger meal. The Chai had a perfect balance of spices. (Its not on the menu so make sure you ask!)
Great food! We’re from Sydney and have come here a few times because we love it so much! Highly recommend the butter chicken burger, masala fries and biryani aranchini balls. The cocktails and drinks here are good as well. Only thing we didn’t like was the dessert, masala tea crème brûlée was not set and didn’t taste anything like masala tea. I’d say stick with the savory portion of the menu and you can’t go wrong. Delicious food and amazing play at traditional Indian flavors but presented in a modern way!!

Food - Fusion Indian & amazing. Riot of flavors in the mouth. My favorite was the Fiery Momos & Kunafa Rasmalai. My spouse loved the Chicken Chettinad Bao.

- They modified the Chilli Crab Burger for my spouse (without the bread, instead placed it on a bed of salad) as he feels bloated with bread so wanted to avoid it. Was really thoughtful of them to accommodate our request.
- The person serving us ensured that I got the drink I had in mind & followed up to ask if it was upto what I had expected.
- Since it was getting crowded & we were still hungry, we ordered another dish, the lady was kind enough to let us know that there would be a 20 minute wait, just in case we wanted to change our mind. We didn’t mind the wait as we were informed about it plus we wanted to taste the dish we ordered.
Service - Couldn’t flaw anything. Service with a smile & continued asking if everything was ok.

This place has some really innovative menu items that are an Indian take on western burgers. We ordered the butter chicken burger, chilli chicken burger, keema pao and vada pao burger. Great tasting burgers, I must say! The cocktails too were delicious... Again, some Indian traditional drinks were spiked with alcohol to make some lovely, innovative cocktails. I'll definitely be returning to taste some other items on the menu.
This has the best Indian burgers I have ever had, and the sides are just as good especially the Butter Chicken fries and the Chicken Pakov.
I received some really good service as well. The waiter is friendly and pretty knowledgeable. I highly recommend visiting.
This place is so cool. They have some delicious indian flavours for burgers and innovative cocktails. Their chilli potatoes is our must eat. I also like the ambience and the owners are so lovely people. We also tried the badmash thandai for which we'll be taking the trains next time 😊 special mention for having a good vegetarian section in the menu.
