Review Giardino Pizza - Elsternwick

Sabina Pandey
I just live 1min away from the pizza store .. and I am regular customer. My favourite pizza was perri perri chicken. I ordered 2 pizza one large and one small. It is so different in taste and thick base I couldn’t eat more than one slice of my small pizza. I have attached before How I used to get pizza and another one that I received today. It’s waste of my money and I will never ordered from here next time .. just waste of money.

Went for dinner last night and the service was wonderful! Frank was very friendly and our waitress (didn't get her name) was amazing! The food was yummy and very reasonably priced. This was a great first experience at Giardino Pizza and Pasta and I am looking forward to going again. Thank you! 10/10 :)

Went for my niece and nephews birthday party. My husband and I used go there all the time when we lived in the neighborhood 20yrs ago. Great to see nothing has changed, it's still a greatly run family business and the food and customer service was impeccable. There were a few of us and everyones order was correct. Will definitely be back xx

Went to Giardino's tonight for a belated birthday dinner, after it was recommended by a colleague. It didn't disappoint. My friend and I were delighted with everything we ordered (cheesy garlic pizza not pictured as it was devoured too quickly!). We had vegetarian pizza, Greek lamb salad, strawberry crepes & churros. The wait staff were lovely and managed to find us a table even though I'd made the rookie mistake of not booking ahead! The serves were generous and both took some of main meal home, so we could fit in dessert! Will definitely back, hopefully soon!

NO DELIVERY! Very torn with this place as I genuinely love the pizza but delivery is simply not an option anymore. I waited 90min for delivery on a Friday night and 30min past my nominated delivery time. I called the shop for them to say it was 5min away - 20min later still nothing so called again. Left on hold for another 5min, was told driver is just parking and was 1 min away. Pizza came 5 mins after that. Pizza was again outstanding and free choc mousse was a nice touch but delivery service needs a lot of work. This unfortunately isn’t a one time issue.

If someone asked me where did I have the worst pizza of my life, I would say Giardino's. I ordered the Giardino Special and it was basically a piece of bread with a lot of shredded ham on it which was also burnt in places. No cheese or sauce, also stuffed with disgusting looking and extremely salty vegetables. Definitely never getting takeaway from here again 👎 Edit: Got a call from the manager and decided to take her up on a replacement. Said she wasn't there when the first one was made and etc. The second one did have cheese on it but again was burnt and tasted terrible. Added photos this time around

I ordered a chocolate mousse to go with my veal scallopine. The mousse was not delivered, was still charged for said mousse. Will not be ordering from this restaurant again. This was a menulog order made on 15/07/2022.

When you walk in to Giardino, the aroma alone tells you that the food is going to be good. I can’t tell you how long I was looking for an authentic Italian restaurant that wasn’t poncy and just served great food. This is not one of those restaurants that has two pastas & three pizzas and calls itself an Italian restaurant: the menu is extensive and reasonably priced. I’ve been here many times and never had a bad meal; even takeaway is the same quality as that served in the restaurant. It gets busy, so remember you’re at dinner not a McDonald’s: take the time to enjoy. If there is one thing I would improve it’s the lighting: definitely too bright and can be a bit “dining hall”, but other than that, great find!
Quest For Best
I have debated with myself for a week now as to I would write this review or not, as this place used to be one of our go to places a few years back. And it has received some bad feed back of late, so I wasn’t sure if I wanted to ad to those reviews.
We ordered two pizzas for delivery late at night last week, actually only 35 min before they closed, unlike many other reviews our delivery was pretty quick and arrived just over 25min after we ordered.
Unfortunately our food was not as good as the quick delivery, one of the Pizzas that turned up was so greasy and wet you could not pick up a slice without it falling apart and the pizza box was dripping with grease as you can see in the photo.
The other Pizza was a wrong order, we ordered a Giardino special, unfortunately we got one with no Ham or anchovies.
We tried to call the restaurant several times but there was no answer. It was close to closing time, but that is still no excuse for not answering.
It’s a real shame this place has gone down hill so far from what it used to be, it used to be fantastic. Hope that can find the old Giardino spark and start producing quality food again.

I ordered a pizza 2.5 hours ago, and my pizzas came stone cold. Yuck!!! I do not recommend this place unless you want stone cold pizza. I don't know about you, but I certainly hate cold pizza. Disguustingg. Im glad there are better places to get pizza in Elsternwick, otherwise we would never know what good pizza tasted like

Ordered two pizzas for home delivery. One hour later, still hasn't arrived. Call the restaurant and get told "they're ready for pickup". Another 40 minutes pass. Call again. "Oh the driver should be on his way, arriving any minute". A further 20 minutes pass. It has now been two hours since we ordered and still no sign of food. Never ordering from Giardino again. What a joke

What a disaster! This restaurant used to be good until the ownership changed from Italian to (I believe) Lebanese. Since then I ate there twice and I was not impressed. I did not return for a fairly long while and.....I should not have returned. The wait for the food was eternal and the food itself was really below average. I could even smell the old fish that other customers were eating and I did not finish my meal: I just asked for the bill (that all considered was not cheap for the rubbish which I was served) and left. NEVER AGAIN!

Wonderful family owned and run by friendly staff. Food delicious and reasonably priced. Atmosphere very friendly and service always with a smile. We revisit often, and for good reason!
Exploring Food
Truly one of the worst places I have ever eaten. The place was busy so I thought I would give it a try. Not sure what other diners were thinking but the food here was abysmal.
The only saving grace is that prices are cheap but as they say you get what you pay for. The flounder was cooked a slow death and had a horrific smell . No doubt
It wasn't fresh and it was duly returned back to the kitchen .
Never ever ever again will I eat here. Shocking

We went to this local place on Friday night last week. Waited to be seated to get the table outside as we brought our pet dog. We happened to be served by this staff, a lady whom is really nice and polite at the waiting station area. She accomodated us with a friendly service, made everything so easy and smooth. Very prompt, brought us glasses of wine (byo), water and menu right away!
We then ordered pasta and salad, came out its Yummo! made with loves. Offered us with extra pepper, chilly flakes :) We really could not fault anything that night. Excellent customer service plus yummo food, nothing can beat that!
Thanks Giardino Pizza team for such a friendly smile and great service. Keep up the good work! Cheers.

Best pizza in Melbourne 👌
Feels like a relaxed cosy family restaurant and the staff are very friendly. Great for both eat in and take away.

Was here for my grandfathers 60th. While the food was actually quite tasty, it took ~2 hours from the first to last main course to come out, leaving some of us frustrated, while others were served almost immediately. Service was very patchy and servings were small. The veal scallopini I ordered had two small strips of veal, lucky to be 100g, and buried in sauce. Would not recommend.

There's definitely an inconsistency with reviews for this restaurant.
I went there a few weeks ago and had an amazing schnitzel with mushroom sauce and veg.
I enjoyed it so much I decided to get it takeaway last nite. But when I got it home, I discovered they'd lazily poured the sauce over the schnitzel and mash, as opposed to separating it in a container.

My crispy golden brown schnitzel was moist and soggy. I didn't want to eat it.
Also the mash was bland, was just potatoes with no salt or anything added.
I rang up the restaurant, & they claimed that they don't put the sauce in a separate container unless asked.

Well you would think that with a delivery time, that's not a great idea, saving money for a 5cent plastic container.

I also asked about veg and they claimed you only get mash or veg.
Well, when I ate in last time they gave me both.
I'm not sure whether the takeaway section is inferior to the eat in. Or whether they are just purely inconsistent with their quality.
Not really sure if I want to chance it again to find out, think I may just try "Budapest" (known for their schnitzel next time).

The food is good, but often slow to come. This restaurant can be very busy. ERRATA CORRIGE: FOCACCIA (not foccacia!), MESSICANA (not mexicana), SCALOPPINE (not scallopine) etc. If you are an Italian restaurant at least write your menu correctly!
Miki Glat
Not great, not terrible, just your average run of the mill suburban Italian restaurant that you go to if you can't be bothered finding a nicer Italian restaurant to eat at.
Brett Hewett
Utterly disappointing. Ravioli that tasted like it was from the super market, was barely an entree size and for some reason the kid at the counter couldn't explain, they charged me $1.50 more than the price on their website...will not be returning!!!

The food was over 40 min late (in total waited over 1 hr 40 min) was delivered to the wrong address. Then when called to discuss the issues was handed over to the manager was spoken to so rudely and was belittled as she was being very condescending and referring to me as "hunny" and "what do you want me to do about it?" I understand that they were busy but was only suggesting to update their expected delivery times. NEVER in my life will I order from them again!! On the bright side the delivery man was delightful and apologetic.

Scroll down and you will see mixed reviews on Giardino. We decided to eat here as we drove passed and saw it was packed. We thought the service was good, the pizza was authentic Italian pizza and the wine and drinks list was reasonably priced. We ordered the Hawaiian, the Joe's special and a Biel of chips. I really enjoyed the Joe's and if I came back, I'll order it again. They had a large variety of goods on the menu and kids meals were entree servings.

First time I've ordered from here in over five years and will never again return. I have never been so appalled in a meal in its entirety in my life.

Firstly, the service. We called and placed a delivery for dinner, and were told there would be a 45 minute wait. Over an hour later and the food still had not come !! I understand it's a Saturday night and it's busy but then tell us the food will be an hours wait. Don't get my hopes up just to let me down.

In case the wait wasn't long enough, one of the pastas came wrong! 1 Bolognese for a vegetarian, good one guys. When we called to correct the error, there was a half arsed apology and the food was redelivered 25 minutes later (we were promised a 15 minute wait).

To top it all off, the food was incredibly average.

Incompetence at its finest. You should've been over apologising and possibly taken some money off the bill, or thrown in something extra for the inconvenience. We will never return.

Have been ordering delivery from these guys since I first moved to Melbourne 6 or so years ago without issue. Pizza has always been awesome; hot and delivered on time or even early. Tonight, went in to the restaurant for the first time with relatives from overseas. They were busy (no more than usual though), but did manage to find us a table. Sadly, that's where the friendliness and service stopped. Must've lost our order as all we received were our drinks and bruschetta. After over an hour we asked where our pizzas and pastas were and were told we'd have them "soon". Another 40mins give or take passed with still no food. We asked again where it was only to find they hadn't even started cooking it. No proper apology; just told they were putting it in the oven just then. We left. I won't be going back.

The food is tasty and hot (I hate being served up food that's been sitting on the bench for ten minutes before reaching the table), the service is friendly and fast. I've never had a tiramisu like it, fresh, light and boozy, just the way I like it. In summer and on days I'd rather not cook, Giardino's has become a regular

The food is good. Unfortunately the staff and service was not up to the same standard the staff stuffed up our order twice which led to huge delays.
They have good pizza and lots of toppings ontop. They also have fantastic pasta, although their gnocchi is a bit too dry.

They always greet you with a smile when you walk in.

This is my favourite pizza place in the world.
JayM
This place is fantastic! It's like every single pizza topping has been meticulously thought out... Not just handfuls of everything with too much cheese to drown out the taste. The decor reminds me of being a kid, just feels like going to someone's house for dinner. Only downfall is the wine list, beer is good though.
Amira
Amazing good, had the best Bruchetta and huge Flounder. I couldnt finish the food. They were very busy, and waitresses still kept up with our needs.

Having been eating at this restaurant several times, I can definitely say that it serves very nice proper Italian dishes, always fresh and tasty. The antipasto is quite remarkable and so are the main courses. The pizza is well above average. The atmosphere is the one of a typical Italian country restaurant. The only suggestion I have is that the place could do with a revamp, having been tere for many years.

Went here for a bite to eat with a few friends for dinner, ordered pizza. The waiter servicing us took two of our orders and walked off without asking what the 3rd person in our group wanted. He had to go up to the counter and order. When the food arrived, I received mine and my second friend received his, but when my third friends food arrived, the waiter put it on top of the pizza my friend had already received. Instead of giving it to the person with nothing in front of them, he assumed it was for the person already eating. The waiter then preceded to walk into a wall and mumble things in Italian. We were overcharged on the bill and the aura of the place was sterile and awkward. Avoid at all costs, Giardino can't even walk straight let alone run a business.

Fair pizza for a fair price.

Don't expect to much and you won't be disappointed.

This pizzeria has been around for a long time.

I can honestly say 30 years ago it was unbelievable, no pizza maker of today could match the quality of the food Giardino Toorak offered.

Having said that this place with the current owners just earns a pass.

Toodles

Nice homemade pizza, nice foccacia nice gelato!!!The service is good and restaurant looks clean. Just like this place and definitely will come again

Really poor quality pizzas. Not sure if they just had a bad night but our pizzas were horrible. The Calabrian resembled a frozen pizza from Coles, while the Supreme had unseasoned veg just thrown on top with no cheese to hold it on. In this very competitive market, they best lift their game.

Just left Giardino, had heard all good things so i thought it must good. We were not disappointed.. Food was beautiful, fresh and tasty. Went with a group had pizzas pastas and risotto!! All delicious. Would definately come back again and recommend to others.

My fav local. I moved into the area about 12mths ago now & this place has been my fav local. I come here all the time with my family & we all absolutely love it. The food is amazing & the waiters/staff are always wonderful. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful Gourmet Pizzas!. Have eaten at Giardino's a few times now and each time we come the food keeps on tasting better and more exquisite each time. My personal favourite are the gourmet pizzas, although I haven't tried the pastas so I can't judge them. The selection of different European beers adds to the authenticity of the Italian restaurant. The waitresses are very prompt, kind and always smiling. Once arriving you can typically order within minutes and the dishes do not take very long to get from the kitchen to your table.

Would definitely recommend onlookers to try Giardino's Pizza!

Wowee. going home very happy. splendid pizza. 11/10
Gianni
Average. The staff and owners don't seem to care about customer service or the quality of the food they are serving.

Italian Pizza !!!!. Oh how wonderful it was to rediscover authentic Italian pizza here at Giadino's. Having visited Italy and finding that aussie pizzas were but a pale imitation of a real pizza, eating at Giadino's was like being again in Sienna. A family restaurant atmosphere adds to the Italian flavour. Good service, great prices and authentic Italian pizza!
Critic Number One
Worst Pasta Ever! The chick.... Worst Pasta Ever!
The chicken avocado pasta was terrible. ... shaved dry chicken, hardly any avocado, minimum white sauce so oily it was clear... I thought it would be great as my friend suggested to me but it seems they cover up there bad food with tons of garlic... the lady at the counter could have cracked a smile too..
Tina
Love this place. You can count on a good meal at a great price. The staff are friendly and the pizzas are the best I've had. Recommend it to all
Nitucker
World record for quickest pizza delivery. Not only is the pizza fantastic but these guys home delivered it in record time 20 mins from placing the order. Well done guys. Keep up the good work.

Best pizza in the area and we have tried a few! Good traditional pizzas and the price is very reasonable. Pepperoni has a bit of spice to it which is great. We always pick up so its piping hot! I havent tried the gourmet pizzas so I can not comment there. Have tried Crust Pizza - bad, Baked in Elwood - Bad, Dinos - yuk! Won't be disappointed.
Jellybaby
Perfect pizza served by perfect gentlemen - good old fashioned pizza and service 9/10
