Pad Thai in Elsternwick had beef with ginger and snowpeas. And steamed Jasmine Rice the beef was cooked to perfection with an exotic twist of ginger and for the baby corn lovers corn was marinated with a separate taste that was mouthwatering wanted more. And to wash it down with a bottle of wine. Great atmosphere and service excellent. Thanks guys will be back.
I had phad Thai chicken which is delicious and big in portion. My friends had tom yum seafood with egg noodle. The seafood was not that fresh. Chiang Miang noodle was ok too.
Weirdly large menus here. Not in number of items, but in actual physical size of the menus. There's a water feature that you might not want to sit near as water might leak on you, plus there's the big hanging gas heaters that are really hot- nice on a cold night but overkill if eating a curry. Food was good and service was ok if a little slow.
Phad Thai is a nice local Thai joint.
We went on a Monday night and only one table was occupied by a group of six.
The restaurant is well presented and it has a nice, warm decor.
Menus are very nice and vibrant.
We ordered 2 soups and 2 mains.
Weirdly, my partners soup and main arrived together.
Then, around 10 minutes later, my main arrived, and close to 10 minutes later - my soup. I didn't like that at all.
The Chicken Tom Yum was Ok - nothing to write home about tho. It did have some good flavours and plenty of chicken and mushrooms.
The Clear Chicken Soup was disappointing - although it had a good amount of chicken in it, it lacked absolutely any flavour.
The Chicken Pad Thai was nice and also very nicely presented.
Finally, the Gai Phad Bai Kaprow was very nice and had some very good flavour.
Together with a glass of Sav and a beer, we paid $53.50, which was a good value.
Considering the amount of Thai restaurants down the road, I don't see a reason to go back to Phad Thai Food. One can definitely find better.
Yum
Had the curry puffs, Tom yum prawn noodle soup, chicken fried rice and pad Thai. Everything was pleasant and came out quickly. Will be back!
Had me doing flips. I stopped by last night after a run down at Elwood beach and was not disappointed. Can honestly say that I haven't had a better Thai style Chicken and Cashews than this (ever). Service wasn't great as most have said, but lets face it, we don't expect it anymore when paying 12.90 for a main dish.
Overall I was so stoked I found this place and im upset to see others have had such a bad experience. Personally this was exceptional and i'll be back for sure.
I used to leave in the area when this restaurant opened and loved it. Now it is a tradition to go back to eat after we go to the beach in Elwood. The food is delicious, the meals are served fast and it is so cheap! I love the cups, so full of personality!
- Superb! I was greeted by the friendly staff right at the door, who kindly led me and my boyfriend to our table. We didn't know what to order so we asked the staff for advice, he recommended the spring rolls, for the main course he recommended pad thai prawn and green curry chicken with rice. First come the starter and it was amazing! Follow by the main course. The pad thai prawn got us my surprise, the prawn was massive not only that it tasted good and for the green curry chicken, the flavour was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone and if you do go, I highly recommend the pad thai prawn because you won't be disappointed.
Very disappointed. Ordered tom yum soup. Tasteless, not spicy and very boring. Mushrooms were raw. Very small portion considering I ordered a main. Quality of this place has gone downhill
Their prawn and calamari salad is awesome! Get on board....
I get takeaway Phad Thai from Phad Thai a couple of time per week, since Phad Thai opened more than 3 yes ago. You can watch your order being made with fresh meat and vegetables while you wait amongst diners and home deliveries being sent out continuously. This is the busiest thai joint in Elsternwick. The quality food speaks for itself. Highly recommended from a regular customer!!!
Good Thai food. Very good Thai food. Comparable to Paradai Thai and Ying Thai 2. My favourite is the lemon grass chicken entree, outstanding taste, juicy meat, but the lemon grass is a bit too much I feel, took up too much space on the table. My other favourite is the drunken noodle, pad thai flat noodles because it was spicy! The Bean Sprout and Grilled chicken salad wrapped in an egg net was good too, nice presentation, very uniques. Spices are special and left your taste buds tingling. Pad Thai with prawns were ok. The only setback I have is the portion is too small for the price we pay. Anyway, I'll be back to try their dessert. 7/10. Did I mention good service?
Great food, tastes fresh and great service. Not the cheapest though you get great value for you money
I love the green curry chicken and the coconut rice. Simple and delicious.
Grilled chicken papaya salad... AMAZING. Tastes the real thing :)
What's in a name!. The few times we have been to Phad Thai we have been impressed with the food. We love Thai food and do find so many places to to be quite "hit and miss" whereas here, it's pretty consistent. To give you an idea of our likes, last night we had the son in law eggs, chicken wrapped in pandas leaves, Tom Yum soup and the Thai fried rice with chicken. All the food was fresh, tasty, spicy and cleaned off the plate! According the Nathan Stockley (another food reviewer), the Thai Fried Rice is quite a hard dish to get right and they do nail it. Our only disappointment is their Phad Thai... go figure. It's a pleasant restaurant to sit and has that level of realism when the clilli hits the wok and everyone starts choking! Our other favourite Thai dish is Phad Kra Prow (beef, chilli and basil) which they do ok but there are better. Since eating in the front of a supermarket in Thailand my expectations of Phad Kra Prow with mince (rather than pieces) has left many places behind. Give Phad Thai Food a try, I believe you'll find a few dishes that you will love.
Had a really good experience, with a very tasty meal.
The red duck curry was fantastic, also the waitress serving was unbelievable
(l have never seen anyone work so hard). But please give her someone else for support.
I will certainly be back
Awesome food!... Like properly awesome, especially takeaway. They had it ready quickly and the prices are really cheap for Thai. I've paid double for lesser quality. Huge props to the staff for being friendly and polite, I know people have said the service lacks but I didn't have an issue. :)
Really enjoyed our takeaways from here tonight. Pad see ew and Tod man pla was very tasty and we are keen to go back and try other dishes. Tried several places around bayside and nearby suburbs, feeling the local Thai food was pretty average, but this was more flavoursome by far. Plain environment but good food. We'll be back!
