Review Damso Bbq - Elsternwick

My expectation might be too high because of the rate. There is no meat acceptable tonight except tofu soup. Wagyu-No/ Pork belly-No/ Chicken-No/ Pancake- No. The staff only helped us cook pork belly then we were left. But our surrounding tables were well taken care of. The fire was too big and our meat was easily burnt. The chicken became black and I asked for help but staff came after several minutes. Honestly I was still hungry after finishing it but I did not want to spend more money here. And I will never ever come back.

Pretty good. Reasonably priced and good portions but meat was a little under flavoured and the person that cooked it made some of the steak over cooked.

After already sampling multiple Korean BBQ restaurants across Melbourne, damso was next on that list. First impressions were excellent with a full house on a Friday night, greeted quickly upon entry. The menu has a good variety with plenty of traditional Korean dishes on offer, and of course plenty of bbq set options. Couldn't go past some blueberry soju to compliment the dining experience. The wait staff were fantastic, very efficient, friendly and forever hovering over the hot plate to ensure nothing burns on your bbq table. A great place to experience Korean cuisine. definitely check it out.

I loved it. The service was perfect. Food was amazing. All the side dishes were yummy. Will definitely come back and try the higher priced sets.

Got the combo bbq for $98. The serving amount is small, and very bland, meat did not taste fresh only reason a 2 star because the waitress was great with service

What a great place to eat. We had the beef set with some chicken and scallops and a round of drinks. The soju loosened me up, I wrestled control of the BBQ and we all had a great night. We then went over the road for ice cream!

Atmosphere is nice and smells great! The food was ok. Meat pretty standard nothing too special. Staff were really friendly and helped us with some changes.

Very well priced for kbbq Meat was fair. Not a huge drinks list but for a local K-BBQ fix it's pretty good

Delicious food. Especially the fried chicken with spicy sauce and the marinated oyster blade. Fun having it bbq'd in front us. Very friendly staff too.

We had a great meal at Damso. The food was delicious, the bbq was fun as always and the service was kind and helpful. We took our young daughter who also loved the fried chicken. It was great value for Korean bbq. We will definitely be back!

Purchased a voucher from Groupon, booked it then received two emails few days later. One advising that I had cancelled my reservation and another from the restaurant I presume explaining that they had not reached terms with Groupon. No idea why it’s listed. Why create a bad reputation for the restaurant it voucher had already been bought and paid for? Restaurant should have just honoured it. Created unnecessary hassle for customers even before they set foot in your restaurant. Definitely won’t be checking this restaurant out!

I bought the voucher and was informed that it is not valid. I contacted Groupon and their overseas call centre said that this is not a known problem. They will take 7 days to refund the purchase. This is all very dodgy. I know why a deal that is not valid is being sold. Somone has screwed and not admitting to it. Highly disappointing.

If you bought a deal from Groupon, they do not honour it and ask you to cancel the purchase for refund.

They also blocked out all the dates now so no dates are availability for booking.

Do not understand why they participated and then decided not to honour the purchase.

Such a friendly and relaxed place. Incredible service and yummy home cooking food. Very different from most of the Korean bbq places I have been to. Highly recommend.

I went there last Friday night. Very busy, but only 2 staffs and one chef inside so the service was kinda slow. But the staffs are very friendly and helpful even tho their english are not really well. Food was just okay, ~ 3* compares to other korean bbq restaurants I tried before. But I put one more star for their dedicated service.

Such a great Korean BBQ
We had the porterhouse on the BBQ and it was fantastic, also the the fried chicken which was perfectly cooked, their home made Kim chi is lovely and they are happy to refill at anytime
My new go to for Korean
Yum !!!

We had the fried chicken and it was spot on! I liked how it was cut small rather than the usual large pieces because it made it easy to share and easy to eat. The sides were also spot on and the staff were very friendly
Who Loves Good Food
Always love a good Korean BBQ so we came to check out Damso. Nice ambience, though we found the tables quite small & difficult to hold all our side dishes, sauces & plates of food. Good service, especially the help with barbecuing. We can’t help but compare Damso with Mrs Kim’s Grill, out favorite Korean BBQ. Unfortunately Damso falls short in comparison. Pricer menu not justified by better value or taste.

Damso BBQ is such a great and friendly environment with a delicious menu. Definitely go for a BBQ set with some rice wine - a match made in heaven. Great place to go for some korean BQQ which is perfect in the cold weather. Willing to travel all the way to come here and eat.

While there’s definitely no shortage of Korean BBQs in Melbourne, it’s often quite difficult to be truly remarkable in a relatively ‘simple’ way of cooking.

However, the premium cuts of beef cooked on a charcoal grill, coupled with generous, tasty sides and attentive service definitely made this one of the best Korean BBQ experience in Melbourne.

Had dinner here with the family with our four kids. The food was fantastic and the service efficient and super friendly. Great atmosphere and highly recommend this as either a date night venue or a night out with the family. A great local!!

When they first opened, had delicious food, nice atmosphere and great service. Had beef set and Korean crispy fried chicken with sweet chili on the side. Korean tea was soooo good. About a month later, service was excruciatingly slow due to lack of staff, food was average.

Best korean restaurant I've been to in a long time! Staff were friendly and attentive and food was delicious. We ordered the porkbelly set, bulgogi chips and honey soy garlic fried chicken. The porkbelly set was amazing! Lots of it, well seasoned and with the right amount of fat to meat ratio. Fried chicken had a different type of batter to it which made it less heavy/oily than other places. And the sauce that came with the chicken was not overly sweet or thick because I found out they make it themselves, rather than buying it premade. Will definitely be going back again!
