Nice little hidden bar. Very simple menu, so if you want to look for a substantial meal this isn't the place, but good for a drink or two. Worth a visit.

What a fabulous local gem! This place is consistently a treat to visit. Popped in on Saturday night for a bite and drinks and couldn't have asked for better service! Great atmosphere and background soundtrack to go with the interesting drinks and food menu. Dietary requirements were accommodated with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks for a lovely evening, girls - you kept everything humming nicely even when it got a tad busy. Will definitely be back.
Love this little cozy cafe in a quiet laneway of Eltham. Great coffee and delicious food! We tried the Haloumi sandwich and the McPoison. Love the glorious flavour of grilled green and Haloumi cheese. Very friendly staff too. Will definitely visit again.

Wow! What a surprise to find this little gem of a bar in Eltham. Just goes to show what is changing in the area as business's are realising locals are demanding good establishment that you get in inner city suburbs yet don't have to travel far to get to. If you wanted a big night out drinking cocktails and spirits you could catch an uber home for cheap.
The food and drink was top notch. I ordered their take on a caipirinha, which is cachaca, sugar lime juice. They used rose infused sugar syrup. Magnificent it was. I've had my fair share of cocktails at black pearl and Eau de vie. Look no theatrics and mixology but they use top quality spirits such as four pillars gin. The food which was a bar menu designed to be shared was exceptional. The manager recommended 4-5 dishes for 2 for a full dinner. There is dessert but we were full by the end. Stand out dishes were the chicken pate, I'd call it a parfait which was served with a few green beans which I thought was a bit odd. Upon my first bite I was surprised they were chilli pickled. Great to cut the richness of the pate. Everything on the plates was there for a reason nothing more nothing less. On the surface the food looked simple but certainly had allot more going on. This is what I look for in a meal, food that delights, surprises and challenges you to think. And for 2 we payed $90 which was very reasonable for what we received. I'd say add another $40-50 to that bill if I was inner city.
I said to my partner we could have been on Smith st Collingwood rubbing shoulders with hipsters yet this is Eltham. I think businesses like this will set a precedent for others to open something good in their local suburbs. This also says Melbourne is getting to be a very sophisticated city indeed.
Great tasting food from a small menu. Breakfast options are good. Very friendly staff and great coffee. Local wine list. Intimate venue in little Laneway.
An ever-changing menu of delicious food and amazing drinks! They are very creative, and we are always pleasantly surprised. Staff are relaxed and friendly, makes for a lovely experience.
Yum. We had lunch here today. Spanner crab omelette and lentil salad. Coffee was great. Worth the effort to find it tucked away in Eltham. Quiet ambience and friendly down to earth service.
Yum yum yum! Yum food. Yum drinks. Yum desserts. Do yourself a favour ans try the chocolate and beetroot cake. And everything on the menu. They do evening meals as well.
Just a short note, as we dropped in for only a short time. Good cocktails, knowledgable staff, nice cheese, great cherry cider from Pagan... Definitely worth further investigation. Horrid furniture though.
They don't have much choices on their menu but they have spent all the effort into what they have available on their menu. I love every bit of the bite I had. I am in love with their baked eggs... I love their jaffa truffle. Anyway, a good way start your lazy Sunday. 👌

The $7 McPoison is my favorite go to snack/brunch in the area. Incredible value and very tasty. Often order it via SMS and enjoy the funny replies.
Brilliant. Two visits now for dinner and drinks. Food is eclectic, honest, seasonal, sensational. Concise blackboard menu with interesting plates of seemingly simple but truly fabulous food, changes depending on availability. Everything is flavour-packed and perfect to share with the non-mainstream wines and beers. Some really interesting unusual beers! Just go, relax, let the friendly team feed you, and enjoy it. A true local gem with a great vibe.

Just got back from this charming little café! As soon as I walked in, I knew I would enjoy it. Small but sweet, and an awesome selection of music playing (which goes a long way in my enjoyment of a café!). I had a lovely chai latte and a beautiful bowl of granola. It was exactly what I needed after a long day of work and I'll definitely be back soon
A cafe that serves Mork hot chocolate is a good start already. The granola was a delicious blend of fruity and crunchy nuts. my friend had fruit toast which she gave a thumbs up to and commented the marmalade was great-full of chunky pieces. A satisfying breakfast.
Yet another Cafe that's pushing the bar higher. These guys are constantly pouring out good coffee and throwing in a few trick shots to keep you guessing. The food is slightly unpredictable but relative enough to smash your tastebuds into a little wow factor. I love this lil place.

Excellent little eatery tucked away in a secret side street within the Eltham shops. The breakfast here is the best in the area, highly recommend the baked eggs! The eggs are baked with tomato salsa, chorizo as well as a host of other flavours and topped with a dash of sour cream. The yolk explodes when you sink the fork through the dish. Brilliant.
If you are the type of person to keep a list of eateries you're interested in trying, put this one at the top of it. Poison on a Friday or Saturday night is where you want to be if you enjoy being fed by one of the most talented chefs in Melbourne. Kobe is a rock star, and the food and wine will knock your socks off. Plus, the place has an atmosphere that makes you want to get cozy, settle in and order everything on the menu. Really. Eltham’s probably one of most unlikely places for us city dwellers to go to for food. Nevertheless, we dropped by Little Drop of Poison last week for some late lunch. Two reasons for this, of course: 1) a tantalizing post by Tony Tan (see Instagram @tonytan53); and 2) because big bear had some work up north. For us, Little Drop of Poison personifies the term hidden gem. It’s nested in a tiny space within a laneway in Eltham. The surrounds is modest, and the menu is small and ever-changing, but look pass these and you’ve got an all-day eatery serving up great food, coffee, and booze. On top of that, the chef-owners Kobi and Lullo have pretty heavyweight pedigrees. Kobi, in particular, boast stints at some of the best restaurants in the world (The Fat Duck, Ralae, and In de Wulf). Another testament to the skills here is the ability to pump out restaurant-quality food from a ridiculously small and under-equipped kitchen. Mad respect!
The dishes we had, we adored – baked ricotta with vanilla, roasted stone fruits, and nuts; leek and comte; and kransky sandwich. .
I really rate this place. It's my eltham go to. Good vibe and really nice delicate but falvoursome coffee. I opt to go for the double shot to really bring out the flavour though. The menu is a nice change up from your regular cafe items and extremely well priced. This is a good space to hang out morning or night whther it be a chilled breakfast or an evening beer or two.

Great place, awesome food however would prob not describe it as 'kid friendly' no high chair or chairs suitable for a little kid to sit on.
Well over due.. Going to The Lane over the years it was clear that Eltham wanted a great place to relax, drink and have a good coffee. The Lane promised all these things but never delivered. Now with the change of hands and name A Little Drop of Poison delivers on all these things.
The bar has a great selection of beers, wine and spirits making it perfect for afternoon drinks. The food is simple but smashes it out of the ball park. I had the olives, grilled octopus and mackerel toast and all were full of flavour and perfect for sharing. They are also pumping out the best coffee in the area with Small Batches Candyman beans.
I can't wait to return, this place has been long overdue for the area. I wish the new owners the best of luck.
Really ace little place, great coffee and good service. Was able to study for a while, enjoy a few coffees and not feel like I was being rushed whatsoever.
The Vibe was almost as good as the Coffee. After being recommended this place by a local, I really enjoyed my first visit. The new owners (Dec 2014) have done a sterling job in setting up shop and offer great service. Neat little bar that serves the best coffee I've had in Eltham. The house blend was slightly sweet and a little soft. As any snob would say there's always room for improvement, but in this case, it's certainly minimal. The vibe and atmosphere was awesome, enough people to give it a buzz, but not overwhelming. If you pay a visit you might just see me enjoying my daily dose.
Saturday night @ Poison. Thoroughly enjoyed the night at the LDoP with some friends that have recently moved into Eltham. How better to introduce people to this great town than an evening at the buzzing cafe Poison. Cold craft beers, Olives to die for, Fresh Sardines with crusty toast, coffee and chocolate pastries and more. Thanks Kobi and staff,

My husband I visited here this morn for brunch. I had the cured salmon and avo. With a divine herb salad. This brunch is def up there in my top three brunches EVER eaten. Was seasoned perfectly, salmon slight coffee flavor, herb salad was cut so delicately. It was just gorgeous! Bread was grainy, crunchy and yum! My husband loved his baked eggies too. A must visit if you are in Eltham area!!! Thanks Kobi & co :)
Mcalmost. Came here the other day as I'm newly working in the area. I'm used to coffee at Patricia, Dr Morse, So the coffee was a bit of a letdown. I also tried the Mcpoison which was a good size breakfast brioche egg and ham burger. Very tasty could have been even better with a dollop of tomato relish. I'll be back hoping coffee improves.

Came here for breakfast in late December, which in itself was great as most other cafes were closed for the holiday period. Service was friendly and I loved the hand-written menus. I had smashed avocado on sourdough with a slow-poached egg - so delicious. My partner had the ricotta hotcakes, which he pronounced some of the best he's ever had. Plus it was beautifully presented, covered with candied nuts, berries and rose petals! My soy latte was perfect too. Looking forwards to coming back in the evening to try their cocktails and night menu.

Great venue. great service. awesome food.. I am enjoying the company of friends at little drop of poison. This is a special night co hosted with Dan Murphys sampling Bordeaux wines from 2010. The guys did an awesome job matching foods to accompany the wine. Delicious and fantastic presentation. Staff friendly, great atmosphere. Coming back during the day to sample the food and enjoy the intimate atmosphere.
This cafe/bar has transformed into a cool hangout spot for coffee, food, drinks and everything in between. Friendly customer service and the owner's passion for good, unique food obviously shines through with every menu item. Definitely a place to check out!

Great new addition to Eltham. I've been in a few times now and have enjoyed each visit. Perfect spot for an early morning coffee and a bite to eat - a small menu but each dish is executed very well. In the evenings this place has a chilled out vibe and great beer options. Staff are always friendly and inviting.
Took my Mum here for her birthday. L.D.O.P has such a cool, vibrant, quirky atmosphere. This was accompanied by uniquely attentive service and a selection of delicious tapas style dishes utilising quality ingredients. Could not recommend more highly.
Tucked away in a laneway just off Main St is one of Eltham's hidden little gems. Owned and operated by ex-giant steps (Yarra Valley) chef Gino this charming, cozy little spot will become your local favourite very easily.
With only a tiny little space to work with Gino and the team pull of magic in both the bar and kitchen right before your eyes, delicious tapas dishes like the prawn rolls and paella will have you coming back again.
The cocktails list each thoughtfully crafted has plenty of variety to satisfy, and if not a which chat with the ever charismatic Gino will have him making something from scratch to match what your feeling.
As a local of the area I am both proud and delighted I no longer need to travel to the city to find great tapas.
* sidenote - the bar is small so to fit your group I highly recommend sticking to a smaller group of around 6 and booking ahead. The outdoor area is undercover and is quite delightful, with at night.

Best Cuisine in Eltham! Tucked away down a little laneway off the main strip this humble dwelling makes way for some incredible eats. The Chilean inspired menu is perfect for sharing and taking in all the flavours. This is something you would expect to find in the inner city suburbs and we are truly blessed to have it as a local. Perfect for a date night and sharing food for two - would be harder with large groups as it is a bit of a squeeze but they do have some extra space outside which could suit in the warmer months. Our new favourite!

Geo knows tapas. This place is magic. Honestly, Little Drop of Poison is Eltham's best kept secret. Soon to be worst kept. Geo serves up some absolutely delicious pintxos and tapas and has a fantastic selection of beers (rotating tap) and wines. I love how quaint and personal this place is. A great place to strike up a convo or unwind. Salud!
