What a pleasant surprise to find this little bakery in a side street of Eltham. A nice clean shop with super friendly staff and a huge array of tasty delights on display.
I was really tempted by the delicious looking pies and sausage rolls, but had already had lunch; so instead grabbed a vanilla slice and lamington to take away. The lamington was huge with perfect, light sponge and lots of chocolate and coconut. The vanilla slice was amazing with great pastry and a gorgeous, creamy custard.
It's always nice to stumble across a great place to eat, and the cakes at Brent's Patisserie are well worth seeking out.

Regular readers of this blog will know that I have an issue with bakeries using the word ‘patisserie’. However, this time round Brent is well entitled to use such a term. My vanilla slice was outstanding. Selling at a very reasonable $3.80, it was proportioned for the fuller gentlemen and was quite an effort to complete. Nevertheless, I endeavoured and my moustache took a hammering, reserving some custard for snacking later on.The custard was delightful. A really rich, creamy and whipped texture, not overly sweet and packed full of vanilla. There was a mound of it too, hard to contain once I got under way and the potential to make a real mess. The pastry was deceptively crunchy, baked in thin, compacted layers and gave the slice a great platform to pick up and eat freestyle. One only slight negative was the thickness of the icing; though in actual fact the sweetness offset the richness and creaminess of the custard quite well.A real triumph in the North.

3/10 $4.30 "big" Sausage Roll, it was undercooked, pastry not set, also I did asked for a small Sausage Roll, lovely girl.
8/10 $6.30 Beef Burgundy, balanced, chunky and just need a bit of Black pepper and a glass of Pinot Noir. I did asked for the last Pepper steak, however she was too slow and another customer who was tended after me was given the steak, never mind.
9/10 $4.00 New York Choc Brownie, gooey, chewy and just scrumptiously yummy.
Let's give it another visit shortly, trust more consistency and better service. JT-21/04/2018.
Glenda is an Eltham institution. Her cakes are delicious - husband Kevin does a good job too! Yummy pies & great vanilla slices. Gluten-free available. Her vego sausage rolls are the best.
I ordered a stack of cupcakes from Brents and they were amazing! Delicious, soft with a smooth buttercream. The customers service was exceptional too, easy to deal with everyone there with just the right amount of communication. Highly recommended.
Love this place - especially their passionfruit sponges! Recently ordered a giant passionfruit sponge slab for a birthday celebration and it was soooo good ❤️
Ordered a chocolate cake for my husband’s birthday yesterday and it was so delicious. Everyone absolutely loved it! It was perfect!
I'm not a fan of cake but this sponge cake 😱😱😱 best one I've ever had! I'll definitely buy again.

Today i called and had a few little goodies delivered to a family for 2 little girls for a school lockdown lunch. As i live on the other side of town , i had not been to this bakery before, Handled with love and care and delivered to the door. . Thank you so very much to the team at Brents Patisserie .
Tried an assortment of pastries (inc Pies, Sausage Rolls & beautiful butterfly cupcakes) and they were all delicious. Can't wait to go back!
I love places where the staff go the extra mile. It seems like Eltham and surrounds are full of places like this. Brent's has delicious treats and wonderful baby chino served in a fancy cup - with marshmallows! We've tried lots of their cakes over the last few months and have enjoyed them all.
