Food: Elwood food and wine is a bit of a local favourite for us. The menu offers a good variety of smaller tapas style dishes, pizzas, a few pasta dishes and a small selection of 7 or 8 mains. A particular favourite for us is the lamb curry. This can be ordered either mild or spicy, the lamb falls apart in your mouth and the curry is well flavoured, even if you order mild. The pizzas are also a really good size, with generous toppings. Desserts are also excellent, and possibly the highlight of the meal for me, I think I've sampled, and loved all 5 of them. The only let down for me has been the brisket, which while enjoyable, was very spicy despite no mention of it being spicy on the menu.Β
Atmosphere/service: The atmosphere is laid back, with wide open windows, its bright and welcoming in the day. At night it's lit with low lighting, giving it an intimate feeling. It's normally a little lively without being too busy, and although it is also a wine bar, most people seem to dine there when visiting. There's a covered outdoor seating area too.Β
Service is unfortunately a little hit and miss. We visit fairly regularly so we know to accept this now. We have had really incredibly service, highly attentive and personalised, but at other times it can be very slow. Staff are never rude, but for a place which rarely gets crazy busy, the wait to order, or to get more drinks can sometimes be a bit too long, and they do need to work on ensuring all staff are equally aware of customers needs.
Would I recommend it: Don't go if you're in a rush that's for sure, but it does offer some great quality food and there's generally something to please everyone. We love the variety and quality of the food, and it's a nice, relaxing venue. They also offer a good range of alcoholic beverages. Β If they can fix the service and a few little niggles, this place would be close to getting 5 stars for me.
Good selection of non dairy milks. Iced almond latte was refreshing. Service was friendly and it was lovely sitting outside on the deck watching traffic.
this place does a fantastic dinner service, I regularly drop in on my way home from work with my partner and we both are rarely disappointed. Wine list is also a big winner with full coverage of cheap glasses to high end stuff
Good food and good service however the calamari was over cooked and very chewy. I would definitely still go back though. Loved the tapas and house wine combo.
We like coming here. Food is good and service is very friendly. It's not a big place and one side of the dining room is almost all made of a foldable glass door. So it can get a bit cold on a windy night during winter.
One of my favourite places to go. The food is amazing, always fresh and tastes great. I love the staff, very friendly and approachable. I've been going there since I I moved over this side of town and will continue to go, thanks guys!
It's hard to explain what is missing at Elwood Food and Wine Bar, the food is good, service is good and overall a pleasant experience. They no longer allow dogs on the terrace which may or may not work for you (my malamute used to be a regular). I'm always just left underwhelmed.
Staff Save the day. Location & Space the saving grace, food & drinks list nothing to get too excited about, though that's not saying anything is bad. Staff though are fantastic. Was with a school parent group for Dinner on Tuesday night, my meal was forgotten, though these things can happen. The way the staff went out of their way to overcome what they perceived as a 'bad' was fabulous. Great job guys, it is your team professionalism & spirit which would get me back here. Cheers
Lovely summer sunday feed.. Came here yesterday morning with my family for breakfast and I wasn't disappointed. Always drive past it and admired the lovely outdoor setting and to finally go there and actually experience it was lovely.
Food was reasonably priced given the portion size of food, not to mention how delicious it was too! :)

Food is simple and tasty. Good service behind the bar and with the tables. Drink specials great as well. Great acoustic gig topped it all off. Reasonably priced as well.

Tested a rather pleasant Charcuterie board last night. Really enjoyable yummy stuff. Back again tonight for some music and laughter. Should be a little cooler too.
Been here for breakfast and dinner and has always had a decent menu. Open lamb souvlaki has great flavours and some nice wines to choose from

Comme ci comme ca. Came here on a beautiful warm day and sat in a prime spot with the shades up. We had the spicy chicken on Turkish bread with sweet potato and an open steak sandwich. The chicken was excellent and the steak was nice but not great. The sweet potato was a let down, as I have had this dish before and it was much better. I think they bake them in batches then freeze them until they are ordered and then fry them up. Obviously to save time, but it just looses all flavour. The service was great and I look forward to coming here in summer and sitting outside.
A wonderful friendly environment with great food. Love the steak , it melts in your mouth. The meals don't need side dishes, which is rare these days. The actually come with veggies etc. I highly recommend the whole experience.. It's a fabulous local eatery.
Wonderful all day menu. Delicious meals (can recommend the gypsy eggs and potato roesti for sure!) The Elwood mess is also wonderful but the meringue could perhaps be a less crunchy. Try and avoid weekend mornings... all just middle aged men in lycra!
Good value. The special $10 tapas & a glass of wine you can't ask for more. The service is good and the location is even better. Now the food is ok but is it Tapas? definitely tapas style but not Spanish food. Still a pleasant experience ;)

Great food and atmosphere. Had dinner here about 3 weeks ago, also about 6 months ago. Both times service was very good, not huge menu but good selection available. Both times have been very happy with the food - have had entree, main & dessert! Eye fillet steak was excellent. Tapas & Wine deal great value. Would happily return.
Delicious Paella. I shared a Paella at Elwood Food and Wine last weekend, and it was delicious. The rice was moist and flavoursome and the dish was full of fresh seafood, etc. It was very nicely done.

The service is generally impeccable at this friendly and relaxed Elwood local. The seating and atmosphere is ideal for a relaxed breakfast, drink or lunch and the food is of a consistently high standard. Today's roast pumpkin pizza was delicious and more than enough for two. I appreciated the friendly enquiries from more than one member of staff as to how everything was.

A while ago I came in and had a rather disappointing breakfast which stopped me from coming back. However recently I have visited in the evenings a few times and found that the tapas, pizza and atmosphere are actually really great. Loved the prawn pizza!

Well we've been three times now, the food has been fantastic every time - I dunno how it's not high 80's percentage on here actually. Brunch was great, baked eggs a highlight, lamb pizza awesome - real hunks of lamb fillet. Specials have been good too. Oh yeah on Friday it is really cheap - $9 for Paella which was mega tasty and $5 beers. I think maybe the atmos doesn't do it for some people but we always head straight to the deck - will be great in summer!
Staff are awesome. Super friendly and make an awesome coffee. Avoid the scrambled eggs though.

Impressed. Although I walk past most mornigns with the dog (and the staff are usually setting up) I've been here twice, once with my daughter for breakfast, and recently with the whole family for dinner. I was a little bit hesitant about going the first time, as i know someone who wasn't impressed. I couldn't be mre impressed. THe food was good, the portions great size (not over stuffing the plate like we seem to do these days), and the prices very reasonable for this neck of the woods.The service was good, and very kid friendly. The one downside, is that the smoking section is situated so that if you get a northerly wind, smoke will blow through the restuarant. But, we'll be back

Thus is a classy no fuss joint. Good service and very handy meals. The had a tapas and wine special for $10 which was a steal. We ordered the seafood paella and the barramundi. Both meals really were good. The paella was a big serve and had plenty of seafood through it. I'd head back without hesitation as the menu is quite varied.
Awesome. I have been here a few times with friends and the food is always amazing and staff are very friendly! recently tho I think they have had a change in chefs and the pork belly is not as good as it used to be. please change it back! Desserts are always so tasty! highly recommended!
Not many options for vegos - so it's just as well the beetroot ravioli in white wine sauce is pretty damn good. A side of greens helps the vege count as well. Friendly service, but the main drawcard here is the location - corner of the golf course and park.
I go there every Sunday with a bunch of friends and have always found the service to be fantastic and the food to be fresh and tasty. I will continue to make this my every Sunday regular :)

We ordered 5 tapas and the potion was BIG...more than enough for two girls...Calamari and Pork Belly are the best dishes...will be back!

Hot service and idiot customers!. Isn't it funny how you can get such polar opposites in opinions. I have been going to EF&W for a few years now, and never have I had bad service. The occasional bad meal, but when brought up with one of the staff, it gets sorted out straight away, or i haven't had to pay.
Why do people feel the need to hide behind blogs? Especially when the customer has a direct problem with someone, but lacks the courage to talk to that person.
The person clearly outlined in Pat's review, as there can be only one person who fits that description couldn't be more welcoming to every customer i have ever seen enter EF&W. The rapport she has with old and new customers is what every establishment wants desperately, and is one of the reason why EF&W has soooo many regulars.
The only time i have seen staff here a little bit off is when they have just been treated horribly by a ignorant customer who wants a servant and not service. Two very different things.
So Pat, next time approach someone, speak to them, and don't cowardly hide behind a blog..... or are you a little bit arrogant yourself?
Use social media responsibly. People do read what you write, and you are responsible for the words that you direct at people for the world to read.

Have eaten at Elwood Food and Wine a few times now and would highly recommend this eatery for it's consistent food and service. Have always found staff to be very attentive and helpful. Menu has enough variety to cater for all tastes and needs. Enjoy the daily specials.
