We were having a group dinner one day and a friend chose a restaurant closest to his place. It was a Thai restaurant called Buddha Raksa Thai. You can see from the menu that they are not your typical cheap and cheerful Thai (the Zomato menu listing needs to be updated). Most of the dishes are above $20.
We were overwhelmed by the warm welcome, extremely friendly service, and how professional the restaurant is run. Try the deep fry eggplant, it is crunchy, well-flavour, unique, and beyond description. Crab fried rice, pad thai, duck curry, soft shell crab, tom yum.. love them all!

We have a wonderful night in this resto. My mum really loves Thai food, we try this resto. This resto has really yum fried eggplant and also their fish also yum!!! Love their authentic food.
Beautiful staff and venue. Food was amazing, generous portions for a good price. The staff put you at ease and go to a lot of effort to make you feel comfortable and catered to.

It presents itself to be more focused on experience as people are seated in a specific seating plan with serviettes and an organised table service with digital technology ordering machine. Though throughout the night, I often found myself looking around to get a waiter's attention. It was actually becoming really frustrating as when I stood up, they kind of freaked out and asked me to be seated and they'll serve you straight away or fetch me the chilli or the spare bowl. Was an odd experience in terms of service.
The food on the other hand was delicious. You could really taste the difference in the quality of ingredients this restaurant would use in their cooking compared to the corner Thai food takeaway drenched in cheap oil and cups of sugar.
Portion sizes were immediately noticeably smaller but I think it suited where the focus was merely on the ambience and your company.
It didn't take too long for food to arrive at the table. The fried ice cream was enjoyable though certainly not rhw best I've had. The outer shell lacked the deep fried texture but rather a soft batter.

Amazing Thai food. Speedy delivery and the best Thai food I have had for a long time. The pad Thai was particularly good. Curry puffs amazing. Prawns & chicken cooked to perfection. Highly recommended. Also very friendly service.
The best Red Duck Curry I have ever eaten. The chef, working here for over 20 years cooks with the heart. You can taste the passion and love in every dish. A must visit for anyone looking for Thai food in Sydney. Hospitality is amazing, family business from the ground up.
Went here for the first time last night. The staff were so welcoming and had big smiles on their faces. The wooden chairs and the decor were very inviting. Food came out in a timely matter. The wait staff had bright shirts one and there was a positive vibe in the restaurant. I enjoyed by meal and the portions were great. I was able to take the leftover food away to bring to work he next day. Overall great experience and I would definately come again and would recommend is restaurant to friends and family. I went on a week day which was good. I'm not sure if there would be plenty of parking on the weekends. This wouldn't deter me away though.

Every once in a while, my old workmates and I will catch up and share old memories. This time, we had dinner at "the best Thai restaurant in Sydney" according to the workmate who suggested it. It wasn't quite the best, but it was pretty decent.
I was third to arrive and sat next to W so we shared a couple of dishes. He wasn't feeling very hungry so I ate most of it. For some reason, I was feeling quite hungry and gobbled it up. Both dishes were quite typical Thai dishes, particularly the stir-fried noodles. I do love me some greasy stir-fried Thai noodles so I quite enjoyed it but I especially liked the duck salad. Maybe it was the roast duck or the cashew nuts (everything tastes better topped with nuts) or maybe it was the generous fish sauce but it was very tasty.
Although the duck salad might not be a regular feature on Thai menus, the noodles definitely are, so it was quite a pricey dish for what it was. I think I have gotten used to paying $7 for Thai lunches, maybe $10 at most depending where I am so paying $20 for such a dish (albeit with a dinner surcharge) feels a bit like a rip-off. It has to be pretty amazing Thai for me to be able to justify it to be able to call it the best in Sydney. It certainly isn't the worst or bad at all, but I would probably recommend just sticking to your cheap local Thai joint unless you are throwing a get-together with a big party as we were.
My wife and I have been going to this restaurant for more than 20 years. It started a few doors away from its present location with fine fresh Thai food and congenial hosts. It has grown significantly larger, so many others must also recognise the value here.
Always fresh, and always a new dish or two to try. Service is unobtrusive but attentive.
If there is a better Thai restaurant, I have not found it. Well done.

Although the shopfront is quiet and unassuming, once you step inside you are greeted with a warm and brightly coloured dining area decorated with numerous paintings and pictures of Thailand in an array of bright colours. We admired the beautifully hand-crafted crockery that was set down in front of us upon being seated, with the Buddha Raksa name and lovely blue patterns flourishing the plates. The specials menu on the wall indicated a number of entrees and mains, all of which sounded wonderfully pleasant.
Dainty and yummy. Such a nice little place to have dinner with a friend. I'm not Thai so I'm not sure what traditional Thai dresses and patterns look like, but the place gives you a warm feeling of Asia. It is pleasantly decorated and the food is really appetising. The waitress was lovely and really friendly as well. The food was nicely portioned and I tried around 5 dishes, all which were cooked well and plated nicely. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
A well-hidden gem in inner-western Sydney that has become the benchmark Thai restaurant that has yet to be surpassed.
This is one thai restaurant that has achieved the holy trinity of dining, balancing flavour, price and service. The duck curry is especially recommended.
The interior is decorated in a borderline kitsch "I've never been to Thailand" style which, combined with projector ceiling lights, give off a warm, "intimate" vibe, with intimate being, of course, an euphemism for cramped - this is not a restaurant for screaming kids, and rightly so.
Service is excellent - another testament to why better restaurants I've patronised are family-owned. The staff are polite and very attentive, however there does seem to be the odd staff member who has immense difficulty understanding English.
Overall, Buddha Raksa delivers a consistent experience and sets the benchmark for inner-western Sydney Thai restaurants. Just keep this one to yourself.
A friend came here 2 years ago and really loved it so she recommended us to this place. fantastic service, staff was really attentive and accomodating. to top it off, the food was AWESOME. best tomyum soup I've ever had. thought the bill would come up to quite abit but only paid abt $18 per person. very value for money given it was such fantastic taste. only grouse is that it's abit inconvenient by public transport. other than that, would not hesitate to come back here again!!
