They got some really good rich flavours into the meat. The arepas weren't crispy like I'd seen before but it worked better this way because they held the meat well and it wasn't hard to eat like at other places. There's the usual arepa problem in that they cost as much as a burrito despite being smaller, however, this is the most satisfying arepa meal I've had in Sydney.
Amazing chicken arepas paired with South American soft drinks (the Mandarin soda was so good that I wanted to get more and save for later). Friendly staff and fellow customers, small space but the uplifting cantina vibe was great for a quick weeknight dinner. Hope to see more variety for the menu and I’m happy to visit again with more friends!
Bursting with unique flavour and a flavour I had never experienced before... from the black beans to the plantain.
It was an enjoyable bite to dive in to. These Arepas, which is a South American food, is made from ground maize dough.
Then they stuff it with delicious meats, veggies and sauces.
I loved the plantain flavour. To me it had a banana flavour to it which was fantastic.
Thanks for the win @arepaoz ☺️

Real Venezuelan arepas 100% , friendly staff and amazing arepas. Plus they also sell Malta (:
I love Arepa’s. Food is super fresh and healthy with nice vegetarian options. Staff is authentic and passionate in what they are doing. After traveling in South America I can say: Arepas here are better than in South America. Must try if you haven’t yet.
Arepa is by far one of the best joints in all of Sydney. Their mouth watering corn pockets stuffed with a variety of options always leaves me craving more. In addition to their diversity of meat and vegan options, arepa is also gluten free which is a win! On several occasions I’ve commuted more than an hour just to savour one of these bad boys. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and there’s an absolute family vibe in there that somehow makes the food taste even better. If I could give it 6 stars, I would
Amazing food and vibe! Plus super friendly and professional staff! By far the best arepas I’ve ever had! The venue is really cool and it’s located in a young, fresh and constantly evolving neighbourhood. I highly recommend visiting Arepa!
I always look forward having my arepa. All choices on the menu are fantastic and the price is reasonable.
The service is lightning fast and friendly. I also dig the vibe of the place, with some salsa playing in the background.
Great food, great vibe, friendly staff. I cant praise this place enough. excuse me I just made myself hungry thinking about it, I am off to get more Arepa's!
Yum, yum, YUM!!! My friend recommended this place. Food is delicious, fresh ingredients and the young woman whom served me so friendly. She didn’t even look at me funny when I wasn’t sure how to eat my arepa. I had the ‘El Jeffe’ which had plantains on it they were SO GOOD! Also they had a small range of local craft beer, Young Henry’s Newtowner was pretty good. Very casual dining. Try it!
Friendly and quick service. We have the chicken and rocket and pulled pork and coleslaw corn pockets. Both were tasty and the serving was big. Authentic Mexican Jarritos soft drinks completed the dining experience.
Amazing gluten free, South American street food! Please support this local business as there are very few 100% gluten-free restaurants in Sydney, AND their food is awesome, too! Service is always really fast and courteous as well. They deliver via Uber Eats and you can order online for pickup as well. I haven’t yet tried their degustation night but I definitely will come back for that ;)
Was looking for a lunch spot that was a little different while in Newtown and found this place. Food was excellent (El Jefe (The Lot) with chicken pictured, got the cheese empanadas too), the serving sizes were generous, and the staff were lovely and friendly and happy to answer all of my questions. I would highly recommend it!
Really cool food, nice if you’re in the mood to try something different!
Had the one with the lot, couldn’t finish it because the serving size was so generous, not because it wasn’t delicious. Love the sauces as well.
Arepa is a Coeliac haven. The staff are amazingly friendly and the food is absolutely delicious.
We had a cheese empanada and an arepa el jefe each and were absolutely stuffed! Washed down with a gluten free beer and you've got a happy Coeliac =).
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area or if you see them at a festival.
Food was nice, venue was cleaned after every person who left the table. Sauce bottles were wiped down too. Staff were polite and helpful. Good value and delicious gluten free Arepa!
The El Jefe with chicken was different and delicious. The other one was pretty simple. The sauce was good too.
