Our stop here was a post game and pre game event. Beautiful coffee, generous helpings of scrambled eggs and bacon and finished with a cold drip. Probably can't classify it as a hidden gem as it's easy to find, but well worth the effort to get to. Our "guy" was welcoming and accommodating. A polished performance all round.
A Sunday morning lazy breakfast at Ten One Ate is one of my favourite things to do. The menu is extremely diverse and there truly is something for every taste - from those who prefer to eat healthy to those recovering from the previous night! The coffee is delicious and the lattes at Ten One Ate truly hit the coffee craving. My go to dish is the Dr Martin Crumpets- the fresh strawberries mixed with the cottage cheese are a great match and I love how they use a locally sourced honey. My alternative dish is always the Apple & Pear Crumble porridge - it's always delicious on a cold winter morning! The staff are always extremely lovely and very accommodating and the cafe has a great atmosphere to it! I will see you next Sunday at Ten One Ate!
Such welcoming staff, and a great menu. Coffee is always spot on. This morning's porridge was just perfect. If only every café was as good as tenoneate...

Ten One Ate go above and beyond with their service. I was so tempted by their menu, I could not help but stay longer to order more. I ordered my main meal plus a drink on the side. Both arrived very quickly and really met my expectations. I had never been here before, but I do not regret trying this place out. Very neat business with a very nice menu.
Loved the crazy shakes. Totally naughty but so delicious. Coffee is always perfect. My favourite dishes are the Avocado Crush with the gluten free bread and the Buckwheat & Quinoa Bircher Muesli. Love the food presentation. Table hosts...our last visit my husband ask for something to add to his meal. As I had adjusted the regular bread to the gluten free bread. He was told he can't and yet all the table host needed to do was add one of the sides. My husband was disappointed and will not come back for a while. Otherwise, have really enjoyed it.
Had lunch there the first time on Sunday and all I can say is wow! Food was absolutely amazing, staff were fantastic. Will definitely be back!
Great food and great service! A must for morning coffee, breakfast or lunch
This was my first visit to Ten One Ate as I had heard good things.
I was a bit concerned given my complex dietary requirements but wow how surprised was I.
Substitution with a bit of mix'n'match gave me a perfect lunch with friendly service at a reasonable price.
Will I return.......I have already made those arrangements.
Great access via public transport.
Great mixed grill breakfast, nice touch on the asparagus and baby corn :)
Nutella French toast is to die for and so is the smoke salmon. Will be coming back to try some more
Thanks, Ten One Ate for a lovely Mothers Day lunch. Delicious food, friendly staff, great service and our favourite cosy corner table!
Really nice cafe at the corner of Brewster Street and Mount Alexander Road in Essendon with great service and very good food and coffee.
The (bacon) Risotto we had was one of the best ever that we have tried.
This is also one of the few cafes in the area with a Bar Menu as well.
Good location, unique decor and delicious food!

Such a lovely brunch experience here at Ten One Ate. It’s a spacious venue with outdoor seating, great coffee and delicious food! The staff are super friendly and attentive. We had the mango smoothie bowl, avo smash and vegan burger - all of which were fresh and high quality. And of course we couldn’t leave without trying their freak shakes! It’s a dessert-lover’s dream.
Wish I could have visited this amazing brunch establishment much earlier. Some say it's better late than sorry and that's a relief for me. Solid brunch venue located at the heart of Essendon, we love how delicious our brunch meals are. Not to mention the mega shake - golden boy shakes that's pushing extra miles.
We had one of their specials, mushrooms lovers which came with assorted mushies, goat cheese and poached egg. I cant fault this dish at all. It's perfect and so was their Pancetta Benedicts served on the famous Dr Marty's crumpets. How could I brunch without sweet? We had the thick cut brioche french toast which was perfectly paired with mascarpone, pistachio ice cream, crushed pistachio and stone fruit. One would never leave this place without their famous Mega Shake. We tried their Golden Boy Shakes that came with gaytime sanga, crunch, honeycomb ice cream and chocolate milkshake. What a great brunch experience.
Australia Day public holiday brunch. I expected Ten One Ate to be busy but the place was almost empty.
Staff were quick to help us. Coffee and food hit the table in record time. Brunch Burger looked small but was “very filling”.
The Avo Smash was full of fresh greens. Loved it.
Loved their variety of menu items, these guys have you sorted. Personal favourite was the burger. Make sure to try a crazy shake, theyre next level good but you better be hungry. Friendly staff! Thanks team
They have plenty of indoor space with amazing ambience and also very nice outdoor seating as well. They also have a cellar space in lower level which can be used for private gatherings as well.

.
We tasted amazing dishes and smoothies & shakes
1. Mango smoothie bowl with strawberry and pistachio
2. Amazing Calamari with halloumi and corn & edamame
3. Popcorn Shrimp Tacos with avocado and crispy potato wedges.
4. the watermelon smoothie topped with lime & strawberry which was truly refreshing
5. oreo crazy shakes which had the oreo shake as base, topped with chocolate ice cream and fairy floss. .

This is an amazing place with tasty food and much recommended to visit.
Ten One Ate is a beautiful and spacious cafe on Mt Alexander Road. They have lots of variety in their menu of breakfast and lunch dishes with a good amount of vege, vegan and gluten free items.
We came for lunch and had the taro latte, ‘something refreshing’ juice with watermelon, apples, strawberries and lemon, the unicorn crazy shake, double beef burger and salmon salad. The burger was delicious and came with a generous side of thick cut chips, and a really cute bright pink beetroot aioli. The unicorn shake was truly massive! Definitely a crowd pleaser especially for kids. My favourite was the salmon salad which was really tasty and fresh.
Overall a wonderful family friendly cafe that would also be perfect for groups. Thanks for having us!
Visited Ten One Ate cafe last weekend and loved it there!
So we got:
- French toast
- Salmon fritters
- Popcorn shrimp tacos
- Berry very nice smoothie
- Watermelon crush (vegan smoothie)
My favourite out of the 3 dishes would be the Salmon fritters. That combo of black bean and sweet potato fritter along with the smoked salmon was different, but good different, you just keep taking a bite one after another. The french toast was nice and thicc with the fruits and drowned in maple syrup. The taco was nice too, loving the little ketchup jar on the side served with the chips. And last but not least, the smoothies came in a tiki glass which was kinda cute.
Definitely check out this cafe if you’re nearby the area!
Absolutely loved this cafe! The staff were very friendly and there was a lot of seats. The was a lovely outside covered area if you wanted fresh air. The menu had a huge selection and all portion sizes were very generous. The mega shakes were incredible. The ice cream used on the cookies and cream one was insane! One of the best ice creams I have tasted. The milkshake itself was also delicious. The fresh juice and smoothie were fresh and full of flavour! Perfect to go with the meal. The pasta was full of flavour and very filling. Loved the chunky vegetables that added texture to the dish. Definitely a winning dish! The avo smash was delicious too. The parmesan was a nice addition. Would have liked the potato rosti more crispy and less elements as it felt like too much on the plate. But overall amazing food and service! Will definitely recommend!
Tenoneate is a fantastic cafe in the heart of Essendon.
Upon walking in we had a great table reserved for us. Staff were very attentive and friendly.
We started off with a cold drip and the cacao charge smoothie. Very refreshing drinks and good portion dishes.
We ordered the tagliatelle pasta which was delicious and perfectly al dente. We also had the salmon salad with a side of halloumi - a very filling salad with a great mix of vegetables. To finish we shared the nutella pancakes which were balanced well with a variety of fruit.
We loved our brunch and definitely looking forward to returning in the future, thanks for the hospitality!
The favourite amongst the locals in the area and they do get quite busy on the weekends. We came here for a quick brunch and had the matcha latte and burger and it did not dissapoint.
The matcha latte was presented really well and the burger was really yummy. Will need to come back to try the other items on the menu
We loved our visit to Ten One Ate! We tried a few of their delicious meals and we definitely enjoyed them.
The vegie burger was marvelous - we don’t usually go for vegie burgers but this was goood! And you can add an extra egg or bacon as well!
We also tried the salt and pepper calamari which we thought was beautifully cooked, and we ended our meal with delicious hotcakes which were absolutely divine! It was not too sweet!
Fresh juices are also available here, and they’re really good!
Spectacular dishes and even better presentation!
Where do I start, Ten Ate One is one brunch venue you have to try that is doing excellent things.
All you need to do is look at these dishes and you will want to visit.
Cookies and cream waffles, braised pork Benedict, strawberry and banana smoothie bowls are some of the highlights.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, then a crazy Oreo shake comes out. Wow! That’s all!
Ten One Ate is one of Essendon’s most popular cafes, well-known for their extravagant freakshakes!
The venue is very cute and homey. It’s quite spacious and there is plenty of seating room. The menu is extensive, and they have so many options to choose from, including a specials menu too!
We had the Chicken Salad, Vegie Burger, and French Toast Sticks (special), as well as the Oreo Freakshake.
The freakshake was definitely a show-stopper - you could see everyone’s face turning towards our table when it arrived! Loaded with toppings like chocolate ice cream, pocky, Oreo, and fairy floss - it’s a dessert lover’s dream! Once we finally reached the cookies & cream milkshake, it was actually not overly sweet and quite nice! We were very impressed with this shake!
The Vegie Burger was amazing! My friend, who is a big meat eater, loved it so much too! This burger had everything - halloumi, avocado, and a beetroot, pumpkin & feta patty that was crispy on the outside! The beer-battered chips were also so addictive. Definitely my favourite dish of the day!
The Chicken Salad, however, was a bit of a let down. As there was very little sauce/dressing, it ended up being quite bland. However, we did like the concept, and it was very fresh and light. I loved the crunch from the cashews!
The deconstructed French Toast has so many different elements - crispy fluffy toast sticks, strawberry ice cream, berry sauce, chocolate sauce, fresh fruit and pistachios - and the combination worked very well!
Overall, we had a really lovely time at Ten One Ate. The staff are very friendly and we were well taken care of. You can tell that it’s very popular with the locals too!
Definitely recommend checking this cafe out!
Thank you so much for having us!
Straight up.. the best cafe I've ever been to. I work at a busy cafe in Sydney and this coffee is 10000 times more amazing. The best mocha in the world. The super brekky burger on sourdough and waffles were very well priced, filling and tasted amazing! Super friendly staff and great table service. Honestly couldn't say a bad thing about our experience. Considering moving to essendon from Sydney just for this cafe! Yewwwww!
We had recently Ten One Ate and here’s what we thought!
Blueberry hotcakes - served with seasonal fruits, mascarpone, lemon curd and pistachio! The hotcakes were pretty soft and fluffy and were not overly sweet. The seasonal fruits were good additions that complemented the hotcakes!
Super brunch burger - think of it as a burger but with bacon and chorizo as the patty! At first sight, this burger did not look filling but boy was I wrong! You could taste the all the flavors including the crispy bacon and the flavorsome chorizo. This is good for those who crave savories!
Huevos rancheros - fried eggs, fresh tomato, bean and corn salsa, avocado and sour cream served on a grilled tortilla! I have never had this combo before and all I gotta say was that I loved it! It was pretty much like a salsa dance in my mouth - sourness, saltiness, freshness and savoriness all at once!
We had a fun time at Ten One Ate and would visit again!
Had lunch here with my partner. I ordered the Chicken Salad and it was delicious the meat was beautifully seasoned/marinated. My partner had the Chicken burger and he loved it aswell the chips were cooked perfectly.
Staff were friendly and approachable.
Think we've found our new favourite lunch spot

Wow! I love how vibrant and tasty everything is at Ten One Ate! There are some amazing vegan options too.
We tried the Chocolate and Tropical smoothies, which were not only tasty, but looked cool in the Tiki glasses!
I was blown away by the speciality lattes, particularly the Taro latte. Super tasty.
As for food, we tried the SUPER CRUNCH GRANOLA, SMOOTHIE BOWL and VEGAN SALAD. It was all so fresh, colourful and delish. My fave was actually the granola, which is not what I would usually order! It was full of nuts and seeds, and topped with Coyo, raspberry compote and poached pear.
The service was great, and the décor is light and pleasant. A great place for a family lunch!

This fun café on the corner of Mt Alexander Road, Essendon, serves up hearty breakfasts, substantial lunches, overwhelming ‘crazy shakes’ and is
Such a great venue! The interior space is large, and I loved the greenery! With a large amount of indoor and outdoor seating you will definitely have a perfect spot for yourself and whoever you bring! We got super excited when we ordered the Unicorn Crazy Shake. And to say we were on a sugar high is putting it lightly! It was huge! But I loved it! We got the cookies and cream waffles, the Avo Crush which had a potato and cheese hash! Then because we are super fatties we got the chicken burger. Really good, Chicken was tender and juicy! Highly recommend you head over to these guys! Take friends or family!
Very pleased with our breakfast here we had the nutella waffles and oreo crazy shake. Coffee was good as was the food. Only let down was the absence of pancakes on the menu. A breakfast cafe needs to have a pancake option.
Yum, yum, yummy! I ordered the Tasmanian fritter and gosh was I full (especially for someone with a big appetite). They were absolutely delicious with the serve being substanial. The ambiance was comfortable with the service and staff being great. Would go back anytime.
This is what dreams are made of! ☁ This kinder surprise crazy shake is so worth getting a sugar crash for, plus it’s basically a work of art! 🎨 This is made for the moments you need a milkshake, but anything less than toddler size just-won’t-do‼️😂

Came here with a networking group. We left our orders at the front counter and our receipt was a coloured plastic cup - that’s how they know what you’ve ordered. We mingled upstairs but then went to an amazing room downstairs equipped with tv, big table, chairs and lovely atmosphere.
Our breakfast were good although the portion sizes a little on the small size. Two poached eggs on a crumpet and iced chocolate for $22 was a little steep.
But overall it was good. Acoustics upstairs is t great. Staff are extremely helpful. Location good with parking available close by. Very kid friendly. Wheelchair accessible. Takeaway food and drinks available.
I will return.
Ten One Ate
Ten One Ate, is a buzzing and exciting fully licensed café located at ten one eight Mt Alexander Road, Essendon. The menu is huge and vast with something to suit everyone – whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free or just love good food. Their menu is available from 7 – 3.30 everyday and they offer a function service as well.
We were invited here today to try a few dishes off the new summer menu. We had the Scotch Sandwich which came with Scotch fillet, lettuce, tomato, onion jam, cheese, capsicum, aioli on a pide roll, together with beer-battered chips. We also had the Bird is the Word Burger which is a fried chicken fillet with a homemade BBQ sauce, cheese, tangy slaw on a brioche bun with chips. We tried the gluten free Citrus and Thyme Chicken salad which consisted of grilled chicken, avocado, Cos lettuce, buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, pinenuts, pomegranate, chargrilled zucchini with a citrus vinaigrette dressing.
For drinks and dessert we had two of the crazy shakes: the Kinder surprise and the Oreo. We also had a Iced Mocha and Iced Latte.
The food we ordered was superb. Both the burgers were so delicious, the steak was cooked perfectly as was the chicken and all the flavours worked so well together. Special mention goes to the onion jam and the tangy slaw, both of which were palate-pleasers and just added that touch of exceptional flavour. The chips were perfect – golden and crunchy.
The salad was crisp and fresh and there was a good amount of avocado which we found most pleasing and satisfying. The pinenuts and pomegranate added to the texture of the salad and finished the dish off beautifully. There was nothing to complain about there.
The shakes were simply amazing… (see photos). Our favourite was probably the Oreo shake – described as a cookies and cream milkshake, with chocolate ice cream, pocky sticks and fairy floss. It was sensational. The Kinder surprise was also a fantastic shake – not sure why, but it was only on the specials menu – they need to put it on the regular menu!!
Both Zest coffees were great.
We found the customer service to be exceptional - they were very obliging, eager to please and catered to our every need. We had a wonderful experience at TenoneAte and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend coming here for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The numbers truly add up – ten one ate equals magnificent!!
Definitely worth the trip to Essendon to try out this place for brunch. The menu had quiet a good verities to choose from but I end up choosing the breakfast for champions and it is huge.
Had breakfast here a couple of weeks ago, lovely customer service everyone there is so friendly! Food was delicious, I would recommenced this place, and I will definitely be back
Paying $24 for avocado on toast is ridiculous. BUT when it's the gourmet version it suddenly becomes worth it.
Ordered:
🥑 Avo smashing day (v): poached eggs, avocado, fetta, basil, tomato and capsicum salsa, almonds, radish, sourdough ($17.90)
+ 🧀 halloumi ($6.00)
Review:
Ten One Ate presents the most pleasing, interesting flavour combinations in the smashed avo dish. From the texture from the almonds, the sweet yet tangy tomato salsa and the smooth (nothingness) of the avo just texturally rich and enlightening. The dish blew my mind and it is insanely memorable. What more could you ask from a brunch place?
My small sample of my friend's PESTO & SOFT SHELL CRAB almost made me weep with joy. I have never seen a flavour combination like this before and it surprisingly worked really well together. Definitely a memorable taste.
It's chefs like the ones at ten ate one that truly bring life and joy to food through more than just flavour. It shows me what's possible in the realm of food and now it's raised my standards of brunch forever.
What a wonderful place to start your weekend. I had my brunch at this place on a lazy Sunday which happened to be my b’day!! We were seated outside where I was able to enjoy the weather on a beautiful day. Busy with so many phone calls the waiters were so patient in coming to the table repeatedly to take orders and never lost patience. Finally I order tasseled salmon with chilli & egg from specials. This is one among the best breakfast I had. Salmon & eggs were cooked to perfection and plated insta worthy. My husband ordered the Breakfast for champions. The well cooked egg on toast, sausage, bacons, mushrooms etc was a well balanced meal and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
I found Ten One Ate on Entertainment book which offers 25% discount on food so I decided to pick this cafe for Sunday brunch which was on the way from home to the airport. Located on Mt Alexander rd, there was plenty of free off street parking. I love the feel of the cafe the minute we walked in. Wasn’t too busy on Sunday, we got a table right away. We ordered almond latte, extra hot flat white, lamb shoulder Benedict and French Toast. Coffee was great. The food was the right portion and beautifully cooked! Love the variation of egg Benedict using lamb shoulder and mashed pea! The French Toast was so light and delightful with pieces of stew apple, strawberry and cinnamon ice cream. Service was on point , sometimes too fast. The staff kept wanting to clear our plates/ cup when we haven’t finish! Definitely will return in the future
After driving past 1000 times we finally decided to stop and check out Ten One Ate. The cafe is well decorated, spacious and has beautiful lighting. Their new grilled chicken burger was delicious, the chicken was juicy and was complimented by creamy smashed avocado. The double cheeseburger was decent too but the patties were quiet thick and probably would’ve been better as a single. The crazy shakes looked incredible but wasn’t quiet as thick as we’d have liked. Still enjoyable. The service was really top notch and the breakfast menu looks awesome. We’ve got to check out the breakfast next time we visit!
Service was good. Menu options include a wide variety. I ordered the vegan bowl (added egg and smoked salmon). It was good but not great. Had a taste of the fritters and they were delicious! Would come back to try the other menu options. Overall pleasant experience. 3.5 stars (Zomato doesn’t let me do half stars anymore)
First time we ate at this cafe and we liked it. We visited on a busy Saturday morning but we were greeted and served right away. Staff were lovely and the place was clean. We ordered the pink salt and pepper calamari (18) and beef baguette (18). Calamari was cooked well with its charred veges and the beef roll was good but nothing too special. We didn’t order their impressive looking shakes, we were way too full for one! We’ll try it next time!
Excellent coffee and lovely atmosphere. Staff were friendly. The avocado breakfast was great.
Outstanding mouth-watering shake options served here!!
Great food, super fast service and generous sizing. Ordered the breakfast burger and was not disappointed, definitely coming back with such good prices
Unsure why we had not discovered Ten One Ate earlier. Really good cafe.
Very attentive and prompt greeting and seating with drinks orders taken in a blink.
Decided on the special for the day - Pea, Cauliflower and Ham soup and the Truffle Salt Calamari.
Excellent dishes. Very professionally put together with quality ingredients.
Located in a pocket of Essendon on Mt Alexander Road, Ten One Ate has been on our radar for awhile. Entering the store, the girls who served us were nothing short of friendly and welcoming, ensuring any needs we had were catered to immediately. The atmosphere of the restaurant boasts a familial vibe whilst the coffees and foods evoke a fresh and authentic brunch experience.
Today we opted for the same Avocado smash dish, only I opted for extra Salmon (smoked). What you will first notice is the bread. Topped and embedded with seeds of some variety, the taste is quite interesting. The eggs are well poached, with the avocado and salmon all mixing well to add a delicious flavour. The feta cheese and pumpkin were a neat addition, adding an extra element of flavour and we did enjoy the meals we had.
Overall a decent brunch, might try the burgers next time if we come. Definitely recommend adding the salmon as it will make the whole bundle that much better. Great service, wholesome food and a delightful dining experience!
Food: 3.5/5

Based on drinks and cold menu with wise study of reviews here🎓
This cafe is located corner Mt Alexander Rd and Brewster St. It is quite large cafe and plenty of seats at 2:30pm on Sunday.
The cafe has a large number of awesome staff. It was very pleasant to see everyone was welcoming and try to seat us.
We ordered latte and wonderful crazy Oreo shake. Lovely coffee flavours with smooth mild taste in latte. It was non acidity rich blend and quite enjoyed it so we ordered latte again👌 Milk was a bit bubbly on top and thin inside but I would love to drink coffee again.
My boy's face and hands all over chocolate indicated he had enjoyed it a lot.
The food served super quick. It seemed precooked big breakfast vegetable and grilled soggy asparagus and corn upon order. It came with beautiful pumpkin seed bread and scrambled egg. This will be a perfect portion for ladies. The green colour burger looked pretty and meat was warm not hot.
Chocolate moose had nice rich cream, very sweet moose and Oreo crumbles on the bottom.
I will come back with family friends😊
Came here for brunch on my birthday and had the crazy shake! Best shake I have ever had. I had the omelet and it was so nice but the mushrooms I would have smaller and diced up. They brought out a chocolate cake for my bday and it was so good.
My family celebrated a Birthday and had brunch at Ten One Ate on ANZAC Day 2018. This is is a quaint place with welcoming vibes to it. As you can see from the pics, the food looked great and equally so they were fresh and tasty! The staff were friendly and attentive to customer needs. For a celebratory cake, we asked staff to place a candle on a choc lava cake and they happily obliged. I would recommend anyone to visit this place and have the 10-1-8 experience. Keep up the good work! 👍🏼
Our favourite local cafe in Essendon, great for kids and so many healthy options as well as some crazy shakes if you desire! And many organic options with great coffee too.
Pictured is the burger with two patties and rhubarb and pear French toast. Both were very delicious. Moist patties and fat chips made the burger meal lovely and the many elements of the French toast made the dish so unique. Left us feeling very full in the end! Would have brunch here again
A great location for a cafe right next to the 59 tram stop. I've seen the freak shakes on social media and they looked unreal. Just had a coffee which was really nice. Will have to come back for a shake sometime.
Ten One Ate is an modern located in Essendon which is hard to miss due to it residing in the in the old brick makers building. The interior features bare brick walls mixed in with a contemporary design of naked hanging lights and impressing wall hangings, complimenting the modernistic furnishing. On a very hot 39 degree Sunday, brunch adventures where in full swing and what better opportunity then to try this mighty fine establishment.
Upon arrival it was moderately busy with a few customers sitting outside under the shade of umbrellas. We where greeted by friendly staff, of which there was plenty of and where seated inside in air-conditioned comfort. The menus where placed on the table and we where left with the hard decision of what to ordered from the large and diverse menu that features multiple breakfast and lunch options as well as a bonus drinks list with numerous shakes and beverages.
After being asked if we where ready to order my nearly 5 different waitresses we finally settled on the bircher muesli, chicken wrap and cold drip coffee. The cold drip arrived in gold class fashion and had me salivating. The brew was utterly sensation and a perfect refreshment for such a hot day. The naturally sweet coffee was subtle and the constancy was thin yet flavoursome much like a coffee liquor that left a very pleasurable taste on the palate.
Our meals arrived promptly which was impressive considering the cafe was rather busy. Both dishes looked extraordinary. The chicken wrap composed of grilled chicken, tomato, cheddar, lettuce, house made mustard aioli all wrapped up in a grain wrap served with chips was the ideal portion size. The wrap held its contents housing the succulent chicken. The aioli coated the melted cheese and the fresh salad added crunch. The chips where also pretty decent, nice and fluffy in the middle and thickly sliced with the added bonus of being served with a side of tomato sauce.
The house made bircher served with Bonsoy infused muesli, fresh passionfruit, strawberries, goji berries, cranberries, apple, date and blood orange sorbet was an ultimate summer treat. Although it is a small serving, the dish packs flavour like no other and is surprisingly filling. The muesli is dense and littered with dried fruits all presenting different textures. The fresh apple, strawberries and passionfruit add tartness. The obvious standout being the blood orange sorbet was luscious and creamy but was just a tad to sweet, though once melted into the thick oats it was a match made is heaven. Usually I’m a crazy yoghurt lover on muesli so I was rather sceptical about this dish but it certainly went beyond my expectations.
Ten One Ate is an ideal location for a family lunch or even for a function. The food and coffee is up there with some of the best cafes in Melbourne and the service is beyond exceptional. The environment paired with unique interior creates a relaxing atmosphere leaving one to indulge in a flawless meal that reasonably priced .

Good service & coffee.
Food was good, the bread was really tough & hard to cut but i was impressed with the amount of feta & avo it was yum. The acai bowl was quite runny it could have done with a bit more texture but I guess that depend on personal preference.
Had the ‘Nutella Waffles’ and a cold drip coffee.
The cold drip came with ice a quarter filled in one glass cup and another glass bottle containing a generous amount of cold drip coffee (probably 120-150mL). By separating the ice and the coffee it allows you to enjoy the coffee without the ice diluting the coffee over time; you just pour and drink whenever you are ready for the next sip. This was probably one of the first places I’ve been to where a cold drip came with a straw; a bit weird to drink with initially but was actually very useful when you are trying to get the last few drops of coffee (it takes three seconds to get one drop of this cold drip so can’t really afford to waste). The cold drip was nice and refreshing; not a trace of bitterness or acidity but the essence of coffee flavour was still vibrant with a sweet tone.
The ‘Nutella Waffles’ consisted of two Belgian waffles with a scoop of raspberry sorbet on top covered with a generous amount of melted Nutella. Then there were some sliced strawberries neatly layered on top of the waffles surrounding the sorbet and some crushed hazelnuts spread on the plate. Finally chocolate sauce was lightly drizzled on top and dusted with some powder sugar. The sweet Belgian waffles were slightly dense and pleasantly chewy throughout the cross-section and the crunchy hazelnuts provided a nice contrasting texture to the waffles and also enhanced the nutty flavour of the Nutella spread. The chocolate sauce was evenly spread on the hazelnuts and strawberries but in the presence of the Nutella, the flavour of the chocolate sauce can’t really be differentiated. The thick fudgy Nutella spread paired well with the waffles; you can taste the sweetness from both the waffles and Nutella. Some sweet but slightly tart strawberry slices helped balanced the richness of the Nutella; and the raspberry sorbet was also slightly tart but really fruity; it acted like a palate cleanser, cold and refreshing.
Overall the meal was delicious; the cold drip was a nice change as you can pace yourself without the coffee flavour changing; and although the Nutella waffle was very sweet and chocolaty, the addition of the strawberries and the scoop of raspberry sorbet really made it a well balanced dish.
Great little local brunch place. Generous tasty, hearty food. Great service. We had the tropical storm shake (yummy and satisfyingly thick) which was great, the mix grill (generous and well cooked - great hang over food), the Paella (a bit stodgy and tasteless) and the Nutella waffle (sweet and sticky). Overall, quite a satisfying brunch. Thanks guys!
Crumpets with ricotta and honey was delicious, coffee was very smooth and mellow. Atmosphere was buzzing on a Wednesday early afternoon. Menu was all day breakfast with many to choose from.
Very good place for a brekky and coffee out with friends! Always happy and friendly... I will definitely go back some time soon...................
Great customer service, very friendly and accommodating! Good variety and yummy menu. Would recommend to book- super popular spot but more than willing to try and squeeze in walk ins.
Purposely travelled from cbd to essendon just to try their Taro Latte. I really love it an i don't need to add any sugar cos the taste is just right for me.
Would love to make another visit to try their food.
Awesome cafe, this one had been on our list for a while. The service was good and the layout was nice expect it wasn't an easy walk between the tables to the toilet. In terms of the food we liked the waffles much better than the French toast as that was a bit dry and by the time our shake arrived we were too full to enjoy it properly.
Husband was very hesitant when I mentioned it was an organic cafe but very extremely happy with his steak sandwich. The calarami was very nice as well. Great service. Will be back.
What an amazing restaurant!
I had the green eggs and ham and it was really good apart from the sauce on the eggs it was delicious.
The sauce was good but you had to have it with the bread not just the eggs.
But the best part was the crazy shakes. I got the chocolate fudge shake. I was amazed when I saw it and I was even more amazed by how good it was.
Overall I recommend this cafe to anyone with great taste!
The next time I went the service was just as good, and the food was really good.
What a great little brunch place in essendon. Good coffee and some great dishes like a double beef burger, apple pie porridge, chicken burgers, Nutella French toast and fish and chips. Check it out if you're in the area.
Great food, amazing coffee and the atmosphere is what makes this place. Think I found a new local favourite! Will be back soon.
The food here just continues to impress and amaze me.
Update: after coming here almost every weekend since my first review 3 months ago, I must say that the new menu and the way some meals are now served makes me reconsider coming back in a hurry.
We arrived after the lunch peak and there was hardly a wait for a table. The atmosphere was lively but not loud. I appreciated the ability to have a conversation, although tables are set close to eachother and so conversations could be heard.
I ordered the Macha Latte hoping for a strong taste and was happy to find it did.
The lunch we ordered was the Double Wagyu Cheeseburger & the Chicken Burger. So glad to find all items are fresh and great cuts of meat, the flavours were great and the sizing of the meal was perfect for the price.
Perfect cafe destination for the future.
Such a cosy place it was... seated immediately service was good. Great menu with so much selection and options to choose from. Food was well presented and generous. Good coffee to start the meal. Great place to catch up with friends
One of my favourite cafe! There is health options that taste good and are always spot on whatever the trend is right now, the shakes and pancakes are pretty amazing! So much so that its hard to take the healthy option. Good service and waiters are always nice to me even though my son makes a mess!!
Highly recommended.
This business exceeded my expectations for sure! I took a look at the menu and could not go past ordering extra. I ordered a vegan salad along with egg and feta. My meal arrived very quickly and was overall a very pleasant meal. I also ordered a frozen yoghurt smoothie and it was very much a great purchase after my meal! A great end to a great meal.
A lazy breakfast at Ten One Ate on a Sunday morning is one of my favourite things to do. The menu is extremely diverse and there truly is something for every taste - from those who prefer to eat healthily to those recovering from the previous night! The coffee is delicious and the lattes at Ten One Ate truly hit the spot. My favorite dish is the Dr Martin Crumpets- the fresh strawberries mixed with the cottage cheese are a great match and I love how they use a locally sourced honey. My alternative dish is always the Apple & Pear Crumble porridge - it's always delicious on a cold winter morning! The staff are always extremely friendly and accommodating and the cafe has a great buzz to it! I will see you next Sunday st Ten One Ate!
i loved the taro and chai latte. im a big fan of coffee and i found their version of chai as more enticing and stronger flavor that i truly like. taro is truly interesting new flavor i only tasted here and never knew anywhere else that offer same and as nice. i had also tried smoked salmon and its one of my favorite ever since. it was very delicious and served perfectly. i will go back and will surely try the other drinks in the menu. i am confident they will be as great as the ones i already tried. great staff service, highly recommended to all.
Let me start off by saying that the staff were great. Super friendly and welcoming. Nice cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
As for the food. Service was surprisingly quick. Probably the fastest I've gotten my food from a cafe.
Flavours were great. However the poached egg was over cooked. While some of the chips that came with the burger were undercooked.
But I am willing to go back to check out their freak shakes.

Ten one ate is a great corner cafe. The staff are very friendly and the service is fairly quick.
I have been here a few times and have found that their freak shakes are delicious but very filling. Their food however is not always as nice as it looks. I tried the Nutella French toast and it looked amazing but tasted a bit like vegimite. Their matcha crumpets were the same, they looked fantastic but they weren't as sweet as you would expect. However, their poached eggs were cooked to perfection! Their fresh juices (especially the pink lady juice) are very nice. I would eat there again 👍🏽😍
Absolutely loved this place. Visited on Mothers Day for lunch and they handled it so well. Food perfectly prepared and delivered punctually. Had the Wagyu burgers and were moist and scrumptious. Coffee and drinks were great and service excellent. Will go back for brunch as menu looked really inviting. Loved it!
Today we visited Ten One Ate in Essendon and I must say the food was superb😍!
We ordered the Double Wagyu Beef Cheeseburger and Chips and the Winter Baked Eggs from the specials menu, accompanied with a Matcha Latte and a Taro Latte🙌.
Everything was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. Service staff were polite however could have been a bit quicker. We will definitely be back😏!
Always a good experience here! Food menu provides a large choice which is what I like and comes out quick which is what I like more!
Been here a few times, and will come a few more, another local favourite! A really cool popular spot!
Highly recommend the raspberry filled jam French toast for any sweet tooth like me, holy moly!
Love this place! Been here 4 times and it has not disappointed me. Love the ambience and staff are friendly. My bf is also a big fan of their fun and delicious shakes! A must try for anyone with a sweet tooth :)
Went for brunch Easter Monday with a group of 18 and we were accommodated in 'the cellar'. Very private, great ambiance and they didn't forget we were there. Good choice and variety of breakfasts. Highly recommend
Simple food made to look tempting with an attractive range of sweet beverages especially their shakes. Coffee is fantastic as well. Will come again.
A great corner cafe with plenty of outdoor seating. On a sunny afternoon, you honestly cannot go wrong with their green juice and smashed avo. Generous amount of avo and feta and the flavour of the juice was well-balanced. The menu is a good all-rounder in terms of variety. For those living around Essendon/Moonee Ponds, this is a great cafe to add to the 'go-to' list for Sunday brunch.
Ten one ate offers a great menu and a great feed! The freak shakes are to die for (we lovedddd the salted caramel butter scotch one)! The porridge tastes as pretty as it looks! The salmon quinoa salad is delicious and you can't look past the Nutella brioche French toast with fairy floss! A worthwhile visit when in the area!
Cool little cafe has a great feel. Staff always friendly and service with a smile. Coffee is consistently good same as the food. You will never leave this place hungry. Have visited a few time's and service and food at the same good standard, recommend this place highly. And will be back.
Busy place doing breakfast and lunch. The pulled pork burger was very tasty. Service was prompt and the food arrived promptly. Bright and airy inside. Outdoor dining also available. The lemon cake was well presented and, according to those who tried, unusallt good.
I ate too quickly so couldn’t take photos but 10/10! The crumpets here are UNREAL, the hot chocolate comes with a GIANT toasted marshmallow and the avocado smash has a delicious sauce and spattering of toasted nuts. Have been here multiple times and will keep coming back! Park on McKay street as it’s not permit parking. The staff are lovely and when I booked for 2 high chairs they’d also layed out plastic cups for the boys! Love it!
Portions of food look deceivingly small but are in fact really filling. Crumpets is a must try and eggs Benedict are done perfectly!
The local coffee place of mine for the last 4 years. Their menu changes each season. The best thing I've had from there was the baked sweet potato with chicken. Delicious! Highly recommend the Berry Smoothie too!
Had the French toast and was very tasty. Only reason not getting 5 stars was the sheer amount of the caramel like topping. I have a sweet tooth, but the amount I scraped off and left could have filled half a cup.
This place is one of my favourite cafes in Essendon. Portions are very generous and it’s a pet friendly place
