I am in love with this patisserie. I was invited here many years ago for coffee and cake and I haven't looked back. I have never eaten a better almond croissant in my life and I've been to Paris twice!! My husband is obsessed with their chocolate eclair. We've happily tasted an array of pastries over the years all being amazing, however what won us over as life long fans was our exquisite wedding croque-en-bouche. This devine profiterole tower was custom made filled with half chocolate custard and half creme patissiere finished with spun sugar! It was a masterpiece to look at and even better to devour. Thank you so much for taking our wedding celebration to the next level with this outstanding dessert!
Best ever almost croissants - nothing else comes close. All the other baked goods are delish too.
Beautiful little gem, great atmosphere & delicious pastries! Can't wait to go back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
First time here today, and I will definitely be back! Tried the almond croissant - AMAZING!!!
every time i come to melbourne i always bring almond croissants home with me - i'm pretty sure i drive everyone crazy on the 2hr plane ride home!
Excellent pastries and lovely setting, will definitely return.
Delicious lemon tarts. Home delivery. Plus
Spotted this cute little bakery @parisianbaker in Essendon.
They offer savories and cakes and of course we could not stop ourselves from trying some.
So here is what we tasted and how we liked them:
Savories
- Almond croissant - super delicious with crunchy almonds on top
- Fresh pear pastry - this is the chef’s creation pastry with peat slices in the centre
- Quiches - they have a variety of quiches and we tried the veggie and bacon quiche.
Sweets
- Cheesecake - this has a hint of lime and is refreshing - Chocolate dome - this is a small chocolate dome shaped cake with caramel filled inside
- Bounty - inspired by bounty chocolate, this had coconut and chocolate and is amazing in taste
The other popular one they have is the orange cake. All of these come in full cake size and slices.
They also serve amazing coffee.
So if you are in or around the area, you should definitely visit and try some of our favorites.
Great little find. Nice atmosphere with good good options.Terrific seating options, front of shop, at the back and upstairs, all with varying styles of tables and chairs. Free newspapers provided to read with your leisurely coffee. Great selection of pastries. I love their almond croissants. Coffee quality varies from day to day. It seems to depend on who you get as your barista.
After famous bakery joints like Lune and Agathé I reckon Parisian comes close. This quaint local bakery located in Essendon serves up one of the best croissants I’ve ever tried.
Ordered:
2x original croissant $3.9 (each)
1x almond croissant $5.9 (each)
Review:
Less pricey than Lune and Agathé but the croissants are noticeably a bit smaller in size. My favourite croissant here was definitely the almond croissant, although flat looking it contains a punch full of flavour. The filling was sweet yet a tad caramelised. With the crispy and flakey, soft croissant it was pure bliss. The croissant was super buttery and softer than a pillow. The original croissant’s texture was superb!

Perhaps I shouldn't judge Parisian Baker too harshly as I only ever visit for coffee and the awesomely good Almond Croissants.
The other cakes and slices on display look fantastic and friends have spoken highly of the quality.
Service can be a bit haphazard but I keep going back!
I walked past this little bakery for months until we noticed and tried it. My pick is the almond crossaint, beware its rich and decadent.....
Holy moly what a place! French sweets as far as the eye can see, freshly baked bread of all types, savoury treats like ham and cheese croissant, croque monsieur and mushroom tarts. So good!
We tried the ham and cheese croissant which we got toasted and boy was it delicious. Flaky on the outside and melted cheesy goodness on the inside. Coffees and hot chocolates were delish as well. This place is a true gem. I recommend stopping by!
Amazing breakfast in true Parisian spirit! Great coffee, tasty cheese toast with bechamel sauce and the best almost croissant ever! 😍
Our go-to destination for friendly catch ups, lazy mornings when you fancy a sweet treat and miss Europe 😉

Great local cafe with great coffee! Tried a few of their sandwiches which were nice but the main event is their cake selection. The petit 4 is the way to go when a decision cannot be made. Big fan of the lemon tart and New York Cheesecake but my all time favourite is the Pear Crumble.
I met someone once who told me she loved this french bakery in essendon and the croissants and cakes there were amazing! That was about two or more years ago! And today i finally got around to checking it out! And it was worth the trip across town for me! I ordered a mocha coffee (delish), plain croissant (loved it). And then the almond croissant and the new york cheesecake! Both of these were superstars!! So great! The almond croissant was just perfect! Not too sweet and easy to eat! The new york cheesecake was soft and yummmm!
The place is really charming too! I love the two clocks, showing paris and melbourne time! And theres a charming area to sit upstairs too! The staff were awesome!
I love the cakes from this place. My favourite is the New York Baked cheese cake, lemon tart and the Creme beignet.
The coffee is also good too. Service is quick and ok. Better come here early because if you come after lunch, they don't have much cakes left. 😀
Love this place. The almond croissant is to die for. I think it's up there, for the best in melbourne. Coffee is really nice also. Took off .5 as the prices are quite steep.
Love the space in here, delicious pastry too, the almond croissant is so soft and fresh! Yuuum! Looking forward to coming back and trying some more tempting treats.
Small patisserie cafe and very tradition and modern mixed french style.
Coffee was nice and croissant was so fresh
I want to try little pretty cakes and dessert next time...
Hope, should have more savoury option...
Very nice, airy, warm atmosphere of the place. Would have liked prices displayed of items. Had the spinach and ricotta brioche and Nutella donut. Donut was absolutely delicious, brioche bread was great but the filling not that tasty. Will return again for the donut!
Rather expensive, but very nice food. Liked their hot chocolate, and macarons best. Crossaints are very fresh and tasty but too expensive for me.
Nice croissant and amazing service must go to Parisian baker. The bread are fresh as well and the place is very comfortable to relax and eat.
Awesome patisserie .. the best cakes and tarts .. I had a lemon tart, frangipane tart andba mascoporne cake ... They all tasted out of this world .. baked to perfection and the flavour was perfect .. highly recommended
Good coffee and great almond croissants, among other things. The feel inside is quaint. They have successfully created a great French feel. Good for
my all time favourite bakery - their pastries are very authentic and the best I've tasted so far. try their almond croissant and their Mille feuille
I don't usually venture to Essendon but was killing some time this morning before an appointment and decided to have breakfast here. So many delectable morsels! I went for the almond croissant with my coffee, it was just perfect - crunchy and flaky on the outside with the buttery sweet almond filling giving it the perfect squish on the inside. Yum.
Visually appealing shop. I always seem to stare and drool over it in the mornings and finally got the chance to try one of their berry pastries after a rainy arvo. Not my first pick but still satisfied my craving. Will definitely come back to try their almond croissants.
Parisian is our favourite local bakery! We absolutely love everything Parisian has to offer from the cakes, to the croissants and the baguettes. They make really good coffee to go with your baked goodies too. The almond croissant is the best you'll ever have! We tried the new pistachio croissant and I must say the almond one is still a winner. The New York cheesecake was probably the best we've had. Every pastry is crafted with extreme precision and care. Prices are a bit higher than your regular patisseries but well worth it. We highly recommend Parisian :3
Atmosphere: Cute, small, boutique like cafe.
Service: friendly, happy to answer questions
Food: Bought 6 individual treats to give as a birthday gift instead of a cake. Pros: the new york baked cheesecake is one of, if not, the best I've ever had. The quality of cheese and the base is superb and fresh. The addition of the lime on top when squeezed on it gives it such a refreshing punch of zest that elevates the taste of the cheesecake. Additionally, the flourless orange and mascarpone cake is phenomenal - so moist & light, I've never tried anything like it before, absolutely delicious. Tarts bought included the strawberry, lemon and dark chocolate & salted caramel. The fillings in all the tarts were delicious & made with good quality ingredients. Cons: the pastry of the tarts were not as buttery as i like, tasted a bit bitter, but i guess that just comes down to my personal taste. Also, the chocolate truffle cake was dry however the ganache on top was nice.
Price: A bit pricey however you are paying for quality.
Overall would return
The Parisian Baker is a small cafe that is bustling with customers on the weekend. With lots of fresh baked goodies on offer (particularly sweet ones!), it is a great place for a quick and light meal. The highlight was the mille feuille - the pastry was flakey while the custard was thick and creamy.
Came in to try out their custard beignets ($3.8) and I was glad to have come here. Surely the right place to come for pastries and sweets. I must come back to try everything else because it looked over delicious. Place to come folks
Came in just after 3 and was surprised that there were still a variety of cakes available. I've forgotten the proper name for it, but we had the cheese and ham roll along with a cinnamon donut and a passionfruit tart for sweets. I definitely enjoyed the tart the most. I've heard great things about the almond croissant, but as expected, they were out by the time we got there. I'll be back to try the cheesecake as well!

Occasionally drove past Essendon on a weekend few weeks ago, heard of Parisian Baker and saw them trending in zomato, visit the little shop and ordered two take away cakes.
The staff looked a little stressed with me standing in front of the display counter, I ended up make a quick decision on buying two cakes, a chocolate and this Orange Rose mascarpone cake.
Personally not keen on that chocolate it's a bit dense not that velvety but I really love the mascarpone cake, I am no fan of orange but I never thought they made great combination.
I think it would be a nicer experience if I sit in and enjoy my cake with a cup of tea in my next visit.
Closed on Sundays !!! Yeah but that Almond croissant though! That is how good it is. Places like Breadtop and Ferguson Plarre dominate but it is the Parisian Baker which thankfully reminds us what a real bakery is.
Really love the almond croissants here, one of the best ones I've ever tasted. It's a bit softer than your usual ones but I actually like it. The level of sweetness is just right for me. Other patisseries are decent too but it's all about the almond croissants here!
The New York style cheese cake will never let you down. I also love the strawberry tart. Fresh made daily. But if you archiving for a breakfast, it seems like very little savoury choices.
I had high expectations! But I was slightly disappointed... I was looking forward to the flakey almond croissant but the base was soggy. However the mille feuille & lemon tart were great! I would only come back for those two...
Made our wedding cake. Love this place. French baking at its best. If you need a birthday cake this is the place for you. Best almond croissant you will ever have.
“We intended to find a Patisserie to purchase a cake for our good friends birthday party. But we ended up getting two fabulously decorated and delicious cakes as well as some breakfast one Saturday morning. Just the perfect amount of sweetness, crunchiness and tang. I drool every time I think about those cakes.”
Always welcomed by their friendly staff with a huge smile on their faces! They never fail to satisfy my dessert cravings! So lucky to have them in my neighbourhood.Their desserts are so fresh and perfect, not too sweet and not too eggy. My husband is a huge fan of their popular almond croissant and their quiche is my favourite which has a smooth filling and a subtle creamy flavour. All items are freshly baked and you can sense that in every bite! I'm SO in love with this place and I cannot wait to try their other items. My weekend breakfast is already marked!
I had decided that I have driven past here too many times and thought it was as good a time as any to pop in for some baked goods.
Walking into the bright shop after midday I knew the selection may be limited but that didn't seem to make my decision any easier.
With brioches and croissants staring me in the face along with a lovely selection of little sweet cakes and tarts and savoury scrolls and quiches etc my eyes were rapidly growing bigger than my stomach.
My partner and I thought it best to divide and conquer so together we got a quiche Lorraine, spinach and cheese type scroll, an almond croissant, and a raspberry and pistachio brioche.
The quiche was amazing, flakey, light pastry and creamy smooth egg mixture in the centre, easily my partners favourite. However I couldn't get past the almond croissant, so delicious it melts in your mouth. The raspberry brioche was delicious although on closer inspection it was definitely strawberries but I wasn't complaining.
Absolutely spot on with the customer service, the woman who served us was so helpful and friendly, I can't wait to go back for some more delicious treats!
Fabulous pastries - both sweet and savoury!
Service really good too!
A definite must visit place!
The steady flow of people through the door is good testament to the quality of their product
They make the best almond croissant!!!!
The best place to fix dessert craving in Essendon!
Love their cheese cake too!
Unfortunately coffee was a bit bitter but can have tea instead.
The good stuff: the beignets. They were very tasty and lighter than I expected (which is why I liked them). It was a shame that they were cold though; I imagine that they would be scrumptious straight out of the fryer. We also had the chocolate trifle cake which was a disappointment as it was a bit bland. I would recommend sticking to the beignets!
I've been threatening to call in here for so long now, but today was finally the day. Well, in summary I wish I had made more of an effort to get here earlier. Apart from the coffee which is fabulous, the pastries are surely to die for. The donuts are cinnamon only (the way they should be), and the almond croissants are nothing short of heavenly :)
Beautiful patisserie. Love their tart base, thin and buttery. Too bad it's far away from south east otherwise this would be a great place to get cakes for parties/dinner with friends.
We had the veggie baguette and the salmon brioche and decided to take away some sweets home. This place is my number one fav place to go....I love the easy going calm feel of the bakery and the staff. The range of pastries is a delight to the eye (it makes you want to try everything). We also had latte which was great tasting. The savory we ate was unbelievable it made me think I was really in Paris and the sweets we took home was very delicious. Everything is made from scratch the jam, custard, chocolate sauces (ganache), it's not too sweet or heavy the pastry is light and fluffy. Perfect!
Wow what more can i say. The food here is delicious. I am truely amazed at how good the food is, i would highly recommend this place to anyone as a must try french bakery
The food here is AMAZING! The macaroons and almond croissants are just delicious. Hot chocolate is also very good if coffee is not your thing.
Tried the coffee (reg. $3.50) and sourdough bread (loaf $6.50), which were both great but the coffee was so painfully slow to arrive I could've flown to Paris, ordered a latte, drunk it, then flown back to Melbourne in the time that I got it at Parisian Baker (NB: slight exaggeration). Considering that they were not busy at all though it really was far too long. Would hate to imagine what the wait time is like when they are busy!!!
PS Beware of the clichéd Amelie soundtrack music.
Holy heck, I just fell back to Paris!! Ahhhhh (in a singing tone). Thankfully my waist line is safe as I live on the opposite of Melbourne. The selection was mouthwatering and the coffee was fine. The amount of people through the the door was incredible whilst I waited for my parents coming from the airport an hour later than expected. The music selection though French could have been a little better selected. I'll be back however!
I prefer the almond croissant to the macaroons. As I find the macaroons crumbles into small pieces very easily. Maybe I just need to put the whole thing in my mouth! Tea is good quality and the cafe is very welcoming.
Parisian Patisserie Boulangerie is a slice of French deliciousness wedged in an unlikely pocket of suburban Essendon. The cosy two room shop is simply decked out in French provincial white with a few French artworks and fresh flowers. Today you won’t be able to miss it because the flags are out for Bastille Day! And the staff are decked out in cute Breton stripes and berets.
Always come here for a catch up with the girls. Delicious desserts. Haven't tried savouries because every time I come here, I can't resist ordering their deserts. Hot chocolates are beautiful as well!
A favourite! The food here is divine. The almond croissants in particular are just unbeatable. The cakes are superb and the coffee is always good. It gets very busy here so it's best to come early to avoid disappointment. There can sometimes be a bit of a wait for food during peak times.
Scrumptious. Light as a feather mille feuille, delectable chocolate filled beignet. Glad we had time up our sleeve and stopped off on the way to the airport.
My favourite local! This place will turn any clean, paleo zero gluten eater into a lover of all things carb! I can guarantee that you will walk away with a delicious pastry. Warning: the fresh loaf of bread at the back will tempt you, just give in, it's well worth it! One of my personal favourites is the almond croissant!
Tea for two. Afternoon tea here was a real delight; a treat for two after a busy week. The fact that two staff made the effort to help a very elderly lady also showed that hospitality and service are two of the reasons we'll be back... along with the fact we need time to work through all the choices!
With its fresh white signage and décor, from street level the best way to spot it is to look for the vintage white bicycle parked outside. Before you even walk into Parisian you are tempted by their sweet pastries and cakes through the window, just wiling you to come in and break your diet with a macaron or pain au chocolate. I of course don’t require much coercion when baked goods are involved, I just about leaped through the door with excitement (seriously, it’s like letting a child free in a lolly shop). Before I walked in the door I gave myself some boundaries – to only purchase one pastry and leave. The problem is it’s so easy to ignore self inflicted boundaries when there is no one else around to keep you to it, so of course I picked up more than one pastry. Seriously? How was I supposed to only pick one when they all look so good! I’ll worry about the diet later. I picked up a pain au chocolate, a chocolate beignet and a custard beignet. The pain au chocolate was a bit dry for my liking but those beignets were delicious! The chocolate custard was very rich, so much so that it overpowered the flavour of the beignet itself, that aside, if you can handle rich sweets which I absolutely can, you’ll love it. The winner of the lot was the custard beignet. It had a beautifully creamy consistency, and full vanilla flavour, no lumps or eggy taste to be found here. The beignet itself was also great, soft, fluffy and the perfect encasement for that custard. I will go as far as saying this is the best custard I’ve tasted in Melbourne! Big call? Go and try it, then tell me if you disagree. Special menti
Parisian Patisserie Boulangerie is another place that I wish I lived next to. Thank the lord I’m more than a suburb away. It can be a tad troublesome to get there so I’ve only been a couple of times, during airport runs, despite my enjoyment of their products.
A very delectable almond croissant can be found here. Not everyone is a fan of almond croissants, but for those who are, this pit-stop is a must. Even if it does require a (not so) slight detour to Essendon.
If you already live in the area, lucky you.
The house signature Almond Croissant, was clearly the best sweet tasting croissant I’ve come across in Melbourne. The inside was filled with warm buttery and cakey goodness. The outer layer had a slight crunch from the freshness of the pastry and the aromatic roasted flaked almonds.
A strong coffee and almond croissant from this place is my post night shift tradition.
Bring back the mix berry pudding plz!
Always have a coffee here when in Essendon. Pastries are great too!
I love this place. A little piece of Paris in Essendon. The almond croissants are to die for. You would have to go to Paris to find one better....even there you may struggle...they are seriously that good.
I drive 20 minutes out of my way to pick up an almond croissant before uni, it's amazing! And the girls have always been very nice and attentive. Love the atmosphere and the idea of this place
Go for the bread. I love the artesian bread loafs they sell. For those alone I'm willing to drive all the way to Essendon. Fresh, pleasantly dense, amazing taste and texture. I can easily eat a loaf entirely on its own. Lemon tart is also good. But the breeeead. Guh.
What a treat. This place never lets me down! It's my little treat spot after I get my haircut in Essendon and it is a great way to conclude a child free time of pampering :)
The staff were so friendly and they were happy to chat and have a laugh. Got there just before the lunch rush so had the pick of the savoury options... shared a delicious quiche Lorraine and a savoury brioche with my mum – they were so light and tasty and buttery! YUM.
Also shared a tangy lemon tart and berry frangipane. Coffee was delicious and comes in a good sized cup.
The shop is small so I find it is best to come outside the rush hour times to ensure you get a seat.
The best coffee going around in Essendon, Moonee Ponds & Ascot Vale area!! The Almond Croissant are the BEST in Melbourne! Not a huge place, so seats are limited. Only thing they could do is introduce coffee loyalty cards!!
BEST Almond Croissants!. Wow - this Almond Croissant is certainly one you'll want to talk about! Not only for its smooth butter filling, but its crisp outer edges and that sweet flavour of almond essence. I have never been to France but I must say this certainly is the best Almond Croissant I have ever eaten.
Ooooh La La! Happiness is found here! U can even call them early to put aside that special pastry, as they go fast!
.yum.. Bloody good brioche pudding
Lovely soy cappacino, would love some vegan sweets to be available! Quaint feel.
Sounds French for delicious. Cute patisserie, friendly staff, Amazing food!!!
Great place to go for a really good coffee and something sweet to go with it!
Tarts are to die for! Strawberry, lemon, frangiapanni, pecan, all amazing in their own right! Macaroons were also good and their crossiants are golden, light and buttery
I was recommended to visit this bakery by a friend and it one of the best bakeries I've sampled by far! Walked into a bustling shop front with plenty of staff at the ready and options as far as the eye could see.
Settled on the escargot, jam beignet and strawberry tart. All of which were of an exceptionally high quality. Light and fluffy dough and pastry full of flavor with nothing artificial. Next time I'm in that end of town I will be sampling again in future.
Had come here numerous times.Love the cakes there, especially the lychee cake.they also made very good Almond croissant.Great coffee.
Though recently had the orange cake ( not quite to my liking, find it bitter).
Other than that, it's just beautiful.Definitely one of my go to Patisserie.
Fabulous pastries n cakes. I would recommend a few things, especially classic baguette, almond croissant, berry danish, all the donuts and quiches.
AND Don’t forget to have the coffee.
They serve high quality single origin coffee.
I prefer pour over and cold brew depend on the weather.
Um.. I’m craving to those now.
Staff are always lovely! This is my favourite pastry place ever & I'm so happy I live right around the corner hehe on the other hand not very helpful having to walk past this place before and after the gym and see all the yummy food they have inside that need to be ate!
Fresh and good quality deserts and bakery. I am big fan of Pistachio and raspberry croissant. Almond croissant is too oily for me but the rest of the bakery is perfect 👌🏻 However, I really couldn’t like their coffee(latte), tried many times but not happy with the taste. Too strong and bitter taste all time.
Coffee is strong blend that gives you that extra kick in the morning. You don’t need to get the strong option.
Their croissants are heavenly. If I wasn’t watching my health, I’ll probably eat five at on go.
The place is clean and staff are helpful. I highly recommend you to visit in the morning.
Great coffee and excellent pastries. The bakery offered many of the traditional baked goods and some new ones. Croissant was crunchy on outside and buttery inside.
Get in early if your after loaf or baguette bread.
Would return for sure.
Only downside is its a bit far from Moonee Ponds.
