Review Indian Tukka On Buckley - Essendon

Very relaxing environment, maybe prices are a bit high compared to other places and will be prefect if reviewed. However, it is an experience to enjoy, the music, the friend staff tick the boxes. Will recommend the place and food is yum

We just had a lovely experience all round. The staff we so friendly, they had no problem providing vegan options and they made just about the best garlic naan I've ever had! Incredibly tasty curries. We'll definitely be going back.

The 17 years I've lived in Melbourne I've looked for a genuine classic Indian restaurant, lo and behold I've found it in my own back yard.

We visited 6 months ago and loved the food and amazing customer service šŸ‘

I was a bit sceptical of this restaurant as the reviews do vary however we were pleasantly surprised! We ordered the banquet and it was amazing. Great Value for money. The staff were all so lovely and went out of their way to make it a great night for us. It was my husbands birthday and the owner even came out to wish him well. Will definitely be back!

What happens when pathetic food is served with terrible service in 1Hrs time, you run for your money. You guys ruined my experience of Malai Kofta forever. PLEASE DONT VISIT THIS PLACE.

We have eaten at this homely restaurant numerous times and it is by far the best Indian in Melbourne. Family owned, the service is always spot on and all tastes and requests catered for. The butter chicken is a must along with the Kashmiri naan. Thank you for another lovely family birthday dinner.

We spent a most delightful evening at India Tukka. The food was literally finger-lickinā€™ delicious, the staff attentive, the ambience relaxing, the furnishings well-appointedā€¦ A special word too about our charming hostess, who checked constantly to make sure everything was to our liking. We will be back for more, Brenda & Alban :)

Great Indian restaurant! We missed it so much when they left East Melbourne. Really pleased when they opened up in Essendon. The food is the best Indian I have found in Melbourne and I will be back there whenever I can. Family owned and managed, the service is excellent. Well done Indian Tukka!

Food was catered more for the western taste. When we asked for spicy, they just added so much chili, there was no balance of the spices and it wasn't good. One of us had food poisoning from their individual dish. Will not be returning and definitely will not be recommending to any of our friends. There are much better Indian restaurants in Melbourne.

Great food, friendly staff. I'll definitely be back, highly recommend to all! ļæ½

Great food, ambience and hospitality. Up market ambience without the price tag. The Falooda mousse is a must.

amazing food and service, happy to have Brenda and Alban closer to home, best Indian food in the West

I went here about a month ago and I wouldnā€™t go back they were very rude and when I asked about food and my peanut allergies and what food I can have they told me they donā€™t do nut free meals, I said to them canā€™t you use a clean spoon for mine and they said no canā€™t do that in other words they couldnā€™t be bothered and when my friend and I went to pay they tried to over charge us. Would not recommend it to anyone. Our normal Indian place is shut on Mondays so thought we would try somewhere else never again.

Everything is delicious and service was great! ļæ½

Indian Tukka never disappoints and is without doubt the best in the area! The quality of produce and service from Brenda and her team is lovely!

This place was wonderful and had exceptional food. Everything was absolutely delicious and had the right amount of spice. The naan was fluffy and the chocolate samosa was a new but delicious treat.

My only complaint is that the drinks were small with the handling of the glasses being unhygienic but these were not a big deal.

Staff were polite and friendly. Would definitely come here again.

We have been looking for an authentic Indian restaurant since our local and reliable one sadly moved. It took over a year and countless failed trials at other Indian restaurants but weā€™ve found it! Indian Tukka was amazing from our first order. We tried three vegetarian dishes... Dal Tarka, Navrattan Korma and the mouth watering Punjabi Khumbi Aloo. All three had loads of fresh produce, delicious flavor, the perfect amount of oil (some places really over-oil, but not this restaurant) and not too sweet or salty. Plus, the service was great. We will absolutely be back for more! Do I sound excited? Because I AM. I finally have a local Indian restaurant again! One that is actually a league above my previous favorite.

Yummy! And so happy they were able to make us a Paneer Mahkne which is not technically even on the menu. Have been back for takeaways too and always pleased.

Amazing food and great service. The price is definitely worth it if you are looking for a great time. Also BYO wine which was great.. there is a bottle shop across the road.

A little gem in Essendon. The Lamb Korma was superb, as good as Iā€™ve had. Tandoori Chicken for two was lovely, couldnā€™t understand 3 pieces for two? Staff were pleasant and not overbearing. Food delivered surprisingly quickly. Not cheap but certainly worth it given the quality of food. Will certainly return given the lack of quality Indian restaurants in the North. Well done Indian Tukka, weird name but awesome food. BYO as well.

Our first visit to their new location, as always Brenda was very friendly, as was our waitress.Ā The restaurant is a more modern ambiance which was quiet and warm.Ā The food is as good as ever and great value.Ā The onion bhaji were fantastic and the Beef Madras and Saag Lamb were great.Ā The drinks menu is very well priced with good choices.Ā Will definitely be going back.

We went on Tuesday night for dinner, we order murgh shorba and chat both were nice and for mains we order junglee Maas and pepper Chettinad chicken with some breads and rice. Overall was good experience and great service. We will be back again definitely for murgh shorba .

You have a waitress that is rude!!! she pointed to our table miles away from us.. didn't sit us down. threw the menu on the table and walked off!
food was ok but that first 5 minutes ruined everything
Mrs Foodie
The food attendant was so rude and arrogant. When we arrived in this place it was empty only 2 people was there and she said they are fully booked after 30 mins restaurant would be full after telling us to wait outside! We walk to different restaurant nearby and when we came back its still empty!
Kayla Louise
Authentic atmosphere, lovely friendly staff and delicious and affordable food. $40 for a generous serving of entree, choice of main and dessert package. Would definitely recommend and be revisiting!

We tried this new local Indian restaurant for the first time last night and were delighted at the quality of the food. All dishes were extremely fresh and tasty. Service was fantastic. Indian Tukka is highly recommended.

Absolutely love this place! The food is on point - so flavourful. No dish Iā€™ve tried has disappointed me. Fresh ingredients always used. I highly suggest the Falooda Mousse after your meal. Perfect finish. Also have to mention the awesome service! So friendly and they really personable and look after you. Compliments to the chef!

This place has the BEST Indian food I've ever eaten! I live right across the road from a different Indian restaurant in Moonee Ponds, but after trying Indian Tukka.... I only get take away from there no onwards. It is sensational šŸ‘ŒšŸ‘ŒšŸ‘Œ
Kiss And Eat Up
Unbelievably good Indian food hands down. The photos do not do this amazing food justice. I was blown away by the rich incredible flavours & textures from the butter chicken, Goa Fish curry & Dahl. The chicken biryani had an incredible balance of flavours and colours & a myriad of spices which just blew me away. Itā€™s obvious how much pride they put into their food here & that will make me a returning customer. Worth the wait for takeaway.

IT isnā€™t what you expect from a suburban Indian local. Brenda and the Team having recently migrated from Collingwood serve up quite the departure from mainstream Indian which is a pleasant change from the same old. IT comes highly recommended with BYO wine on offer for a modest tariff...

Very tasty and flavourful veg and chicken biryani! Brenda and Alvin are very hospitable, understood our needs and suggested the best options for a party at home. Highly recommended!
Live just down the road from here so decided to visit. Started with Samosas which were good but just a little bit grainy in texture and the flavours lacking, the sauce they came with was awesome though. However the mango chicken and coconut beef made up for it a lot as we cleaned the bowls with them. Would definitely have them again, the meats were really tender and melted in your mouth. Priced very fairly and overall it was great. We wanna come back and try more of their menu. Service was excellent too, the woman who served us was all on her own and dressed very well (as pointed out by my partner) and she spoke to us very nicely and kindly. 10/10 service for sure.

šŸ’¢šŸ’¢500th Review šŸ’¢šŸ’¢
My 500th review. Saved for Indian Tukka, the restaurant that singlehandedly changed my view of Indian food. I had never been a fan, but Indian Tukka served up sophisticated dishes that I really enjoyed. Imagine my devastation when they closed their restaurant in Collingwood.
But they reopened recently - around the corner in Essendon!
Brenda is the perfect hostess and the food is exactly the same. So delicious and enjoyable. Be sure to book as it's only a small space.
And thank you to all my followers and readers who enjoy my reviews.

If you love Indian food do not try this restaurant! It was definitely below average in regards to taste. The most basic dishes tasted very westernised and not at all authentic. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

I'm not normally a huge Indian food fan, but this place has won me over. The ambiance of the place is nice and cosy and the staff are super friendly.
The food however is amazing. We had a chicken soup for entree and garlic naan bread both of which were full of flavour.
The mixed grill was next, the chicken and beef were absolutely amazing. The only problem was I wish there was more!
Then we finished off with a chicken, capsicum, onion and tomato dish. It was full of flavour and had a great spice kick to it.
All in all, a fantastic feast that I highly recommend. However you will need to book as it is quite small and quite busy

We had saag paneer, mixed grill, naan, roti and raita. The roti wasn't great but everything else was good. The host was charming but we felt like the restaurant was still finding its feet - the service was slow & our dishes didn't come out at the same time so one of us had to sit twiddling thumbs while the other tucked in. We'll return as food is good & we have faith that the service will improve.

First time we attended (7pm) we were informed no take away was available as they were flat out (half empty dining room) and they'd closed the kitchen for take away until after 9pm. We decided to give the place another shot but unfortunately the food was all a bit "meh". The serves were small and flavourless, even the side sauces for entrees lacked punch. Curries had no chilli spice and the naan wasn't good at all. The garlic naan tasted the same as plain naan with no evidence of garlic, the only difference was some green flakes on them. Curries and naan were incredibly salty. The prices were on the high end and serving sizes were on the small side.

We thought it would be great given the high ratings, but if you've eaten a lot of Indian food and know it well, you might want to give the place a miss.

Since the previous incarnation of this restaurant closed in April 2016 I tried a bunch of other places hoping to find a decent substitute and came up with nothing.Ā Very pleased that it has re-opened and that the quality of the food has not diminished - although the menu is a fair bit shorter than it used to be.Ā In some ways, it's absence made me appreciate it more.Ā So many Indian joints serve up dishes that look different but taste the same (if they have much at all) - here the flavours are distinct and strong.

Many of the saucy dishes are served up in bowls mounted on braziers - this really makes a difference in terms of keeping the food warm while you work your way through it.

Favourite mains include the Junglee Maas, Chicken Jalfreizi, Bhuna Lamb and the Bombay Aloo.Ā For entree I can never go past the onion bahjia.

I tend not to rate things 5/5 - nobody is perfect - the only justification I have for it with Indian Tukka is that the service can be a little slow.Ā Ā Additionally, I think the menu could benefit from some kind of marker as to the heat levels in the dishes - sure you can ask for different heats, but they all have a default.

Otherwise, I absolutely love the food here.Ā Sure it's a little on the pricey side for Indian food, but damn it's tasty - and consistent.

Also, the people who run the place are just lovely.

Best Indian food in Melbourne! Thrilled that Indian Tukka has reopened and lovely to see Brenda again!Ā

I highly recommend the Tandoori Chicken and Methi Lamb... you won't be disappointed!

It was my first time trying Indian and absolutely loved it. Not to mention the service was impeccable. So glad there's a great Indian place close by. I'll definitely be coming back.

So glad this is my new local Indian restaurant! Delicious food, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be returning for more! Highly recommend checking it out.

We had dinner at this lovely Indian restaurant. The service from start to finish was great and the food was even better. I highly recommend anyone looking for an authentic Indian feed to try this place out. We will be back.
For the night we had the butter chicken, lamb biryani, pani puri shots, aloo paratha, and mixed grill. I recommend the biryani, I loved it.

Quiet and charming local restaurant not long opened. Ā Friendly and welcoming Staff Quite busy last night but great service The food was delicious we will be back again soon for sure. The flavours were to die for!!!!

Loved this place! The food here is to die for and the ambience is great. The curries have an authentic Indian taste and the starters including Panipuri shots are a delight for the taste buds. Would highly recommend this place for a good North Indian meal.

Disclaimer- Being Indian, this review might sound overly critical.Ā
Anyway, here I go. Ā
Ā Quite authentic Saag paneer. Portion size compared to cost is small, but is enough for one person. Garlic naan is not same as what I used to get back in India, again size is too small so even if you are eating alone you'd probably need two. I assume same goes for other kinds of roti. Ā The ambience is good.Ā
They seem to be short staffed at least for now; especially for waiting tables, thus service is quite slow. Ā I was not served even water in between!! Ā

There are not too many items to choose from on the menu. The menu shown on Zomato does not match on site menu.Ā
Overall, if you are not Indian but love Indian food, this place could be great for you.Ā
If you are an Indian, & can make complex Indian dishes at home yourself this might be just waste of money. It doesn't hurt though to splurge on once in a while.

Only been open a few weeks and it's already having night's where they are flat out. Really nice to see and hope they continue to do well.

It's a very nice little restaurant with friendly and welcoming staff.

We had to wait for a while to get our order, but they are new and still finding their feet so will let that slide.

Food tasted really delicious. Enjoyed the flavors very much. Only downside is the servings could have been a little bigger for the price.

Check it out if you're in the area.
