Review Woodstock Pizzicheria - Essendon

Michael Angelini
It was a year or so since eating at Woodstock Essendon, and in the past we have had good service and the pizzas were very tasty. But on this occasion on a weekday night I was very disappointed with the quality of the pizzas and service. Pizzas were missing ingredients and bases were very crunchy. We had also booked in advanced and seemed they didn't allow a table for us. Tables were also sticky. Hope they improve.
Peter Dal-Ben
If you want tasty pizzas with thin crusts, this is the place. They are quality not quantity options. We had to attend there to order because the phone order was not working. We had to pick them up and wait 20 minutes. This suited us, but be prepared.
Marcus Zukanovic
The food is amazing one of the best seafood pasta me and my wife have eaten. Even the GF pasta they use is awesome. Pizza choices are great. Very tasty and a great base too. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you.

Busy restaurant, warmly greeted by the manager. After standing at the door for 5 mins we were shown to our table. The manager came to us 5mins later and explained the specials menu. We waited a further 5 mins before the main menus were given. Asked if we can have some water and it never came . Once we made our order it took about 10mins for all food to come out. Quite surprised at that as it was real busy. Overall the food was nice, but expensive. I probably wouldnt come back due to the noise and the pricey food. $30 for a small plate of ravioli, $21 for a small salad and $25 for small pizza.

Great place to have a function the team couldn't accomdatd us enough. Great with both adults and kids alike. Allowed us to bring in balloons and cake. Whilst they don't normally cut your cake they accommodated our request. My Italian family enjoyed the meal and service! Highly recommend.

I just had the best pizza I’ve had in many years!!! Truffle paste, porcini mushrooms & home made sausages. So much flavour! And I enjoyed a lovely chat w the manager while I waited. Now to conspire to have all my friends try it 🤔
Lonely Tess
Nice pizza, enthusiastic staff and friendly manager. 🥰
Christopher Burson
Food was delicious, staff are super friendly and efficient. No one seems to be on their phones in the restaurant. The people are all there to speak to each other. Enjoy a great meal (and dessert. You definitely need dessert..) and chat to each other. I think the staff have a lot to do with the vibe. Feels very much like you're a regular even when it's your first time.

Chadstone location - Nice food but atrocious service. I've been here a few times as I live right next door and on every other occasion was lucky to have the same waitress, who I became friendly with and she was quite good. Though I did notice most of the other staff were pretty unfriendly and seemed uninterested. But this waitress wasn't there yesterday when I went back for the first time in a while and it was one of my worst ever experiences at a restaurant, and pathetic considering the prices they charge here. Almost every member of the wait staff has a very thick Italian accent which adds to the feel of the place, but the waitress yesterday was so incompetent that she should not be a waitress. My father wanted the cotoletta, which is the Italian word for crumbed veal. I ordered it and the waitress had no idea what I wanted. I repeated it and she seemed to understand. Seeing as how there are only 3 main meals, amongst all the pizzas, and cotoletta is apparently an Italian word, you'd think she'd have an idea of the menu. Then my father asked if they had tea (just normal tea) She asked if he wanted peppermint. He said no, just normal tea. So she went and got a menu and showed him, which consisted of all the different coffees they have. He said no, just normal tea. Finally we managed to get through to her. But when the tea came, of course there was no milk or sugar so we had to call her back for that. I wanted an item on the Specials menu, which was a Wagyu rump, so to make it easier, I showed her the menu and pointed to it as I said it. Again, she couldn't comprehend what I wanted and I had to show her and point to it again and still had the feeling she wasn't sure. Then she started to take our menus and leave without asking how I wanted the steak cooked, so I had to tell her. After she left, my father and I just looked at each other in amazement and shook our heads. The veal came very quickly, about 5 minutes after we ordered. It wasn't a good sign that both meals didn't come together but I thought maybe the steak was going to take another minute or so. So I waited. And waited..........And waited. Then asked another waitress if my food was coming soon. She went and checked and said yes, it was coming soon. So I waited and waited again. It was now 15 minutes since my father received his food and he'd been eating it slowly, as he felt bad that mine hadn't arrived yet. By this stage I was disgusted and trying to get a waiter's attention so I could cancel my order. Of course that was next to impossible, even though the restaurant was only half full. Then my meal finally arrived. The steak was good but the mashed potato and mushrooms were absolutely stone cold. $75 for 2 main meals and a pot of tea and service like that? No thanks. Judging by all the other reviews of the Chadstone location, it doesn't seem to be that out of the ordinary. Never EVER going back.

Great place to eat. Very central. Pizza was very good and the service excellent. My only gripe is the overpriced drink list but I suspect that this is similar to other eateries in the area.
Rob Lukanic
Always a great night! Led by Guglielmo and served by the great Italian staff of the restaurant. Food fantastic, service, as it should be. Friendly and great atmosphere. Favourite 🍷

Simply superb! We absolutely loved our meal and time at Woodstock Lygon St! Our waiter, Giorgio was very friendly and efficient :) Environment feels like Italy and is warm and homey. We ordered the minchia pizza and special pasta baby goat ragu - both excellent dishes! Must try for great pizza and pasta - also good value. We will definitely return and this is our new favourite Italian local!

Brunswick Took my wife and my two daughters to dinner for my wife's birthday and was happy surprised with the food and lovely staff. Bill wasn't to bad with all four of us having one or two alcoholic drinks with our meal
April Kyle
Me and my boyfriend had lunch at Chadstone's restaurant yesterday. The menu is wonderful! Our pizza minchia and the affogato... gosh, very tasty! We sat at one of the first tables and the atmosphere is very cozy. The service was also excellent! Our waitress was very polite and friendly. Good experience!
Howard Mullett
Great service from every staff member the minute we walked in the door. All staff were so friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent. Tasty wood fired pizzas, pasta, calamari and arancini balls. A meal that the whole family thoroughly enjoyed and a restaurant that we all agreed we will be visiting again in the near future.
Kellie Hanson
Amazing food and great service. Staff are extremely friendly and inviting and great with kids. We have been here three times, tried something new each time and thoroughly enjoyed every meal.
Natalie Findlay
From the moment i walked in, i was sold! The atmosphere and the furniture felt and looked a ot like Italy! Myself and my partner ordered pizza (prosciutto and veggie) and it was by FAR the most amazing pizza ive ever had!!! The base was thin and the toppings were fresh. The service we received from the wait staff was professional and attentative. Everyone was so lovely. Ill be back again!!!!
Warren Lucas
Wondering past the beautiful old building which houses Woodstock pizzacheria, it's easy to want to enter as the place looks warm and inviting. Immediately upon seating you feel warmly welcome by the Italian staff (and yes they were all Italian). My father said the pizza is the best he has ever eaten and the rocket salad we ordered was also perfect. The only constructive criticism we could make is that the wall lighting is a bit too bright but this is a minor thing. We'll be back to try more on the menu very soon!
Murray Klein
Great place in Round Top! Xcellent food & drink! Very nice atmosphere also
Amalia Dimasi
Awesome food, very traditional! Service at Brunswick was awesome, in particular manager Luis! Very friendly staff who were only too happy to make us feel comfortable! Our new favourite place
Liam
Excellent as always. Still offering pick up services so please get along and support your local if you’re able to!
Simmyeats.Melb
I ordered a take away San Daniele pizza which arrived in a reasonable time. The ingredients were really good and the pizza tasted great!

The only negative would be the base not being cooked enough, it was still enjoyable however a little on the undercooked side for me.

Will gladly order from here again.
Gastrology
The dish of gorgonzola gnocchi was exceptional. Made fresh everyday by nonna since 1994. Pillow soft homemade gnocchi was wonderfully light and went beautifully with the rich cheese sauce. We loved meeting nonna who made sure we were incredibly well fed!
Louise
Loved the sausage and potato wood fire pizza!! It was very tasty, smoky and saucy, if only I lived closer, this would be my go to pizza take away.

I also tried the pasta marinara. The seafood was very fresh and tender but I wish there was a little more sauce as the pasta was a tad on the dry side.

However, when you have pizza that good you don’t seem to mind about the lack of sauce in your pasta.
Tania
Can honestly say this was one of the best San Daniele pizza I have had. We also tried the seafood pasta, their pasta is quite smooth and was just delicious. Prices are slightly on the higher end but definitely worth it.
Steve Levon
Nice little Italian pizza place with excellent service. The wait staff were very attentive and very friendly. Good selection on the menu with a huge variety on offer if you don't want pizza and drinks to match.
H&J Foodies
They used to have the best pizza however last few time eating here was incredibly disappointing. Sausage on the pizza was inedible and chewy.
Tom.j.frazer
One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. I would be surprised if they survived as a business in its current state. I’ve never felt the need to review a restaurant prior to this. Extremely disappointing. Please avoid.
AJ
This place is very close to my house but its a shame that we don't visit frequently. Often staff speak to us in Italian (which i dont speak!) and the pizzas and pastas are average. Nice fitout but food a bit over rated.
Alan Smith
Atmosphere was nice and the restaurant itself is well decorated. Ordered the gnocchi and it was extremely over cooked it was falling apart - very poorly made. Also overpriced at $28 for a very small portion, myself and my partner were disappointed. Desserts looked nice tho
Mellissa Rao
Wow, hands down the best pizza and pasta I've had in melbourne. Its flavours and woodfire are out of this world. You have to try it and ignore all the bad rating.
M Olive
Food was delicious and the service was great! Wood fired pizza was delightful, gnocchi slightly over cooked but still yum! Will definitely come back!
Cheesy.boys
Great traditional Italian style pizzas. The bases are nice and light and all the ingredients great quality.
The pizza purist’s might hate but we LOVE that they do a pizza with pineapple now too!

The dessert pizza with Nutella, strawberries and rafaello chocolates is an absolute must.

Only knock is that the meals aren’t cheap. Good ingredients cost..
Federica
Simply amazing truly Italian pizza!
I ordered sfiziosa pizza which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.
Suggest to pre-book the table
Sylvia's POV
Woodstock's service is exceptional, the staff really looked after us.
We were seated near the glass wall/window and it was a hot day so we ended up moving the table forward a few inches to avoid the blazing sun.

For appetisers, we had the arancini balls. The flavours were great, but the rice was most definitely still raw and hard.
The Pappadelle Alla Bolognese be with Angus beef was delicious and very filling. We also shared a J-lo pizza which was flavourful and cooked just right.
Erin Koletsis
Food is pretty good buy overpriced. Staff can be very pretentious while also being unorganised. Restaurant is nicely decorated and filled with natural light during the day. Staff really let the restaurant down.
KnowingMelbourne
I love the pizzas at Woodstock. The location in essendon is small but it takes bookings and has a few tables outside if you like the sunshine. If you like traditional, thin base pizzas then you’ll love Woodstock!
AJ
Food was great! But it is just another Italian restaurant. There was nothing unique or trendy other than having cans of tomatoes and jars of Nutella. Crownie was served in a different glass and cutlery was weird.
Sophie
I’ve visited both establishments multiple times and I can definitely say that I’ve had a better overall experience here then I have at the Brunswick location.

Service is more attentive and prompt!
Ambience of the place is more vibrant and food is served with my care.

I’ve had a couple of the pizzas, pastas and entrees all being served to there description and liking.

A must for me is definitely the Spaghetti Pescatora!

Though with the amount of amazing Italian restaurants I probably wouldn’t return in a hurry unless I’m in the area.
RoseC
Pizzas are amazing, stuffed olives amazing!!! Wine a little over priced, and restaurant space a bit cramped. Food and wait staff were fantastic though.
Deana Cannatelli
We have eaten here on numerous occasions and firstly, I cannot justify paying $14 for 6 polenta chips, when an entire packet of polenta costs a whole $3, so I'm not sure if they're getting their polenta delivered straight from Italy or something... I can say they have nice wood oven pizza (I always tend to stick to the same one, Regina D.O.P) and it's always satisfying. They atmosphere is nice and the interior is cosy, but at times their service can lack and the pizzas take a while to come out. Overall a nice pizza place that you can enjoy locally.
G&G Birdhouse
We went to this place to have tea and dessert. The waiter was a young guy who was so full of himself he wouldn't even look at you when taking orders or answering questions. When serving the desserts he just threw the plates on our table. The desserts were very tasteless and low quality that we just left them. The toilets were dirty too. When paying for the food they asked how it was and we told them how we felt but they completely ignored our feedback.
Dale Zeinheiger Culpin
After living in the area for a few months we decided to go for a visit as we were craving a pizza fix. We ordered Nonno's tasting platter for 2 ($43) and a Capricciosa ($23). Food was good. But the service was subpar. Staff seemed pretty innatentive. When we arrived we realised they seated us next to the toilet door which is a little off putting so we spent the first 7 or so minutes of our night waiting for the waiter to return to ask if there's any other seating available. We did end up with better seating eventually though but this definitely seemed like a burden to the staff for whatever reason because we were asked "are you better now?" like we were just getting over a case of the flu.

As we were leaving the restaurant and paying our bill my girlfriend who is a Barista noticed that their coffee machine steam wand was unclean and still had milk dripping from it onto the counter and dried milk caked onto the wand which is a health hazard as spoiled milk on the wand can harbour bacteria and transfer that to the next customers cappuccino which could make them sick. Delicious. I'm just glad I didn't order a coffee after my meal. I really hope they were at least hygienic with my food.
Kiss And Eat Up
Can only comment on the pizzas which we had takeaway and quite good. The winner was the Minchia pizza which was the perfect amount of spicy due to the very special ingredient nduja! In my humble opinion I would definitely eat in next time.
Jez
Dined there mid week. Excellent and friendly service from all of the staff. Ordered Arancini, Calamari and a Pizza to share. The food was brilliant. Great ambience. I highly recommend this place. Very good value. We will be back often. Another up market pizza restaurant carries on about being world champion Pizziaolo. Woodstock proves them wrong.
Lloydscan01
My wife & i went there recently with another couple. The atmosphere great, food great. The waiteress spoke Italian. Our friends raved about the meatballs & pizza. I had the veal dish, sorry i forgot the Italian name but the veal dish was to die for.
Roy Batty
A bit late on rating this place. I went there for a quiet Tuesday lunch two weeks ago. Service was very good, and the food quality was very good. The person I attended with was more happy with the style of pizza than I was.. But it's subjective right?!
Anyway, I have two small issues, one was that they don't do half & half pizza.. This I can't understand.. I would love to hear a justification.. The end result, I had to buy more pizza than I wanted..

Two, I don't think the restaurant was as clean as I would have expected, as direct example the tiles and the glass on and around the window that displays the smoked and preserved meats. Smeared marks, food spray.
Nellie
Love it here! Really consistent & really authentic Italian food!
Pizzas are delicious (porcini is a favourite). Pastas are also nice but smaller servings.
Staff are friendly & with an authentic Italian accent.
Mario
First time here at Woodstock Essendon. Last minute decision to go out and eat and my wife and I wanted to stay local. Cosy interior space, although it did feel a little crowded due to the odd shape of the dining area. Staff were attentive, friendly and were well versed re the menu. The eggplant parmigiana was excellent as a starter along with the obligatory chips and aioli. We both had pizzas as mains which were exceptional.
David
Great Pizza and starters, pasta's were ok but not great, service can be a little less attentive than what would be expected. Very much over priced, but we still keep going back.
ThatGirlAlice
Definitely the best traditional style margherita I've had in a long while. This place is nestled off the main road and you can always get a table. Great, friendly service and quality food. I could do with a little more basil on my pizza, but that's a minor suggestion!
Roza Lujic
We had dinner at Woodstock last night - ordered 3 pizzas. What happened to the yummy pizza they use to serve??? The pizzas we had last night were so cheesey and oily.
Marijanka Ricca
We love coming here! Every single time the food is consistently excellent! The staff are friendly and helpful! The desserts are amazing! Highly recommend!
Julia Plithakis
The workers are extremely rude and gave us warm water on a 38 degree day, they ran out of ice and did Not want to hear my joke, them proceeded to call me a cuck, would NOT recommend coming

Located on our side of town and being quite local, my wife and I usually come here for pizza. Pizza is always above average and decent, however, today we dined with some friends and the food was exceptional -whoever made the pizza base did a terrific job, hope it stays this way. keep it up 👍
Gavin Joe
Awesome Italian restaurant! Will come again! Fantastic service, the waitress was attentive and refilled our water. However they did not have tomato sauce but the chilli oil was amazing. The food was good, the atmosphere was great!
Vincent Cheung
This is my Sixth time to be this restaurant.
The reason is simple.
Good food, nice staffs and plenty of parking spots.
Every time my overseas family & friends come to Melb, I will bring them here!
@Vincent Cheung

Loved eating here tonight. Lovely and prompt service - I think it only took about 10 minutes for our pizzas - and ensuring that we always had our glasses full and asking us if there was anything they would like us to do. Enjoyed eating the Regina and the San Danielle!
Hungrycafecritic
I was disappointed with my first visit at Woodstock. Pizza was very bland and average compared to other traditional Wood Fire pizzas I have previously tried in Melbourne, However I decided to give it a second go as it's local. Unfortunately it was a let down again.
Gnocchi was nice because home made but not at all worth $28
Garlic and herb focaccia- bland & dry
Overall very average. Proportion not great. Not quality for $$
Maybe they care more if you don't order takeaway.
Susan Kent
Authentic Italian food served by friendly Italian staff. Pizzas simply created but very tasty. Don't expect a suburban pizza here!! Ingredients of prime quality and sourced from respected providers. Italian music aided by the chefs. When you eat here, you could be in Italy!
AC Man
Pizza was good.great crust, toppings and flavour balance. Also great service. Would come here again.
Bruno
Third time at this Woodstock and really disappointed Not only was the meal just average but I managed to fall on the floor due to a chair having a dodgy leg which ended up collapsing under me. No apology was forthcoming, just an "are you ok" from staff and further at the end of the meal we ordered coffee and one of the cups had the previous users lipstick still on the cup and when we alerted staff to this she merely laughed and said the cup hadn't been washed properly, seriously disappointed
Laura Dilisio
Delicious food, great service and lovely atmosphere! Our group shared pasta, entrees and sides - all were amazing and reminded us of Nonna's cooking! would definitely recommend! :)
Daisykatt
Great pizza and service. Highly recommend if you are after an authentic tasting Italian pizza. Given how busy it was on Saturday night our food still came out quickly and hot. Yum!
Mj
Food 4/5 love the menu and portion sizes

Ambience 4/5 can get quite loud inside but it's lovely to sit outside weather permitting

Price 3/5 $$$$ I think it may be a little expensive for some people but I didn't mind

Staff 5/5 lovely staff, always attending to you needs

What I suggest: get the stuffed olives and try a pizza you won't regret it
FRancis
Cool atmosphere. Been a coffee stop whenever I'm around and the menu is great if you appreciate a traditional Italian meal. Definitely in their own class with quality ingredients offered.

This is the 3rd time we've been to Woodstock - unfortunately each time we come here its just not a nice experience - last time we came here wait staff were friendly but my partner missed out on his main meal & we ate separately - last night we had the worlds saddest grumpiest waiter, the chef at least acknowledged us & even served us our entree as the wait staff hadn't come to the pass to collect our meal. Pizzas are nice, my Gamberi had one sad leaf of basil on it & was flavorless the Bunga Bunga was delicious - very expense we asked for wine presuming we'd get the house wine @ $8 instead we were served $13 glasses of wine, so $26 for 2 glasses!! The winery we attend regularly doesn't even charge that much!
Julia McGennisken
A little bit cramped but a beautiful atmosphere! The pizza crust was light and thin, but not too thin. We had the Bella lombardia, Gamberro Piccante, Minchia, and Bunga Bunga. I could not fault any of these, perfect balance of flavours without being too over-the-top. For the dessert, the Calzone Nutella was to die for! Will definitely be coming back!
Dhimant Jani
Average pizza. Staff is super friendly and parking is too easy to find. But they need to up the game when it comes to Pizzas. We ordered two vegetarian pizza and got one with meat in it put was replaced immediately without any argument.
Linda Jando
Awesome service by our lovely waiter. Food was amazing and the street view just beautiful - highly recommended! Thank you Woodstock, we had a lovely experience here!
Sandy
Beautiful Italian cuisine. Pizza was delicious as well as the pasta. Would definitely recommend it to all my friends and family. Loved the atmosphere nice, warm and cosy.
Katia
Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing atmosphere... Great family night out! Pizza's are definitely some of the best we've had. We would highly recommend!
Ellen McGennisken
Wonderful service! Friendly, knowledgable staff. The pizza has the perfect amount of topping and a nice thin base with a beautiful tomato base.
George Martin
Very nice pizza. Freshly stretched, thin and gummy bases. High quality toppings and charismatic staff. We had the Woodstock and Margherita pizzas and tiramisu. Will come back again.
Jay Gusman
The food was amazing, great and fast service and overall great meal. The pizza andpasta were especially delicious. I will certainly come here in the future to share a meal.
Debbie Williams
Food is lovely, quality is great and the service quick which is great with kids. However down side is that it is very expensive (so writing this review to get a 10% discount!)
Cathy
We came here for the first time and liked it very much.Especially pizza which we ate ate a few minutes ago and was wonderful. The staff are want and friendly and the tiramisu may be the best in the world.
Dijana Poric
Food had great flavour. Pizzas were a decent size. We had the capriccios a and the gambleri. the meatballs were a great way to start. We will definitely come again.
Queen G
Pizza and meatballs were nice, not the best gourmet pizza but it was nice and fresh. The waiter at the door that greeted us was rather arrogant and rude and got annoyed when he realised that we didn't have a booking. He then proceeded to talk in Italian to another waiter and expressing his annoyance with us and the fact we had no reservation. Guess what Im Italian and understood every word u said!!!! Will definitely not be going back!!!!
Stevie Worthington
Not loving the new menu at all! Was my favourite but no longer sorry. The new menu lacks a lot of meat & seems like it would appeal more to a vegetarian
Gary D
Food quality always very very good. Pizzas excellent as are most other dishes. Service typical Italian with attractive imported wait staff. Always good quality - just incredibly expensive. Recommend.
Steph
We love the food here every time we come. The pizzas are incredible and the service impeccable. A great addition to the area! Would highly recommend.
Taking A Bite
Now a family favourite, Woodstock is a great restaurant with amazing food and wonderful Italian atmosphere.

All of the waiters and waitresses have a lovely Italian accent and are very attentive and friendly. Because of our Italian background it is a very lovely experience. The menu is huge, with a great selection of traditional Italian dishes from pizza, pasta, meat and poultry.

We went there for my dad’s birthday dinner last night, and as always, we enjoyed it. For an appetiser I had the Parmigiana di melanzane, eggplant parmigiana, which I’d never had from Woodstock before. It is layers of eggplant with tomato, mozzarella and basil oven baked. Packed with flavour- delicious. I then had, what I’ve had many times before a Zio Gaetano pizza, which means Uncle Guy in Italian- which is funny because I actually have an Uncle guy! It has mozzarella, salami and porcini mushrooms- so yum!

We also all shared a Nonnos Tasting Platter- filled with calamari, prosciutto, bread sticks, olives and bocconcini cheese- many Italian favourites. Delicious!

If you love Italian food and a traditional Italian atmosphere, be sure to visit Woodstock pizzeria. It has a number of locations in Melbourne in Essendon, North Fitzroy and Brunswick.

Definently one of my favourites
Sarahphillipsid
I happened to experience Woodstock restaurants food for the second time by chance and I was pleasantly reminded why I enjoy the cuisine so much. I can only comment on the food as I enjoyed takeaway from the essendon restaurant.
Not from the area and visiting a friend at home we shared a few pizza and pasta dishes.
My recommendations are the Woodstock pizza and porcini pappardelle, both happen to be vegetarian options and were stand outs full of flavour.
Wish I had one of these close to home!
MelbourneMiss
Popped in for a quick weeknight dinner. I found service prompt and friendly and care was taken to explain the specials. In the end I went with something from the menu - the prawn basil and chilli pizza for $23. The size of the pizza is ample and more than enough for one. The dough was lovely and thin and I loved the cheese they used on the pizza - full of flavour, not too much, no puddles of oil. The prawns were plump and generous but surprisingly quite bland and the few leaves of basil added no flavour whatsoever. The cherry tomatoes gave a nice pop though. The chilli (chopped, in oil) comes separately so you can add as much as you like. Woodstock seems like a nice suburban restaurant where you can get a solid woodfired pizza and it certainly seemed very popular with the locals as it filled up quickly.
DK
Awesome food , deep fried olives were so good we kept ordering more .
Pizza was perfect . Sadly the service by the waitress was horrendous . Haven't encountered anything like that got a long long time. It was so bad that it actually became funny.
But regardless we will return as the food was so good.
Mrs Mizar
I rate Woodstock Pizzicheria, Essendon for the food only, which was good, the pizza was thin and crispy and topped with good quality ingredients, the coffee was also good.

The service was one of the most unfriendliest I have come across. My companion and I were made to feel like we were 'imposing' on the female and male waiter. WOW.... what a pair of grumps. They really gave the impression they did not want to be in work, which was translated in the way we were spoken to and treated.

As mentioned above the food was good but left a bad taste due to the front of house staff on for this lunch shift today. Poor form.
Mel
Excellent outdoor seating area, great variety of drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic), fair portion size. The pasta was tasty and the pizza is served on a thin base.
Christine A
There are a lot of pizza places in Essendon but this one has to be one of the best wood fire ones. Its a good place for a quick bite or take away. The only downside is if you come in a large group it is quite small. Perfect for a last minute dinner.
Kiran Dikshit
I am surprised this place has got an avg of 2.9, as it is not justice to the food I just ate....
It was wonderful and I really enjoyed it.
Zucchini flower was just perfect and so was my pizza ...

“SERIOUSLY GOOD FOOD, BUT A LITTLE TOO PRICEY..!!”

We went with our family group to celebrate an occasion. There were 15 of us - the restaurant had lost our reservation, but quickly made tables up outside - a bonus..it was lovely out there..a warm balmy night.

We had 2 or 3 courses each, with some having tea and coffee also. We ordered 3 or 4 bottles of wine, possibly 10 beers, soft drinks and juices for the kids - teenagers mostly, although after 1 each they drank water. The adults ended with an aperitif suggested by the owner. Service was impeccable..!! Food was fresh and contemporary - nouveau Italian.

Servings could have been a little larger - we did not leave fully satisfied...And at approx $150 per person..I believe we should have..although the drinks, rather than the food, might have been the problem here..

Still, we will go again..fabulous ambience..love it when an Italian restaurant is owned by an Italian and employs Italian speaking staff..you can close your eyes..and be transported to Florence..almost..!! Highly recommended...but maybe BYO is the way to go...

Visited February 2015

The pizza is traditional Italian style. Nice place on a warm summers night. Pizza is quite tasty and the ambience is rather relaxed and comfortable

Service wasn't incredibly friendly, but the food was great. The pizza was just the way it's supposed to be, crispy thin base, quality but minimal topping and full of flavour. Pasta was also great, the fresh tomato sauce was right on point. Last but not least we're the ricotta cannoli, which were delicious. I'd come back purely for the food.

Terrible. After booking a table for my mother for a number of people we were moved to a totally undersized table for our party, upon telling the waiter we were not happy with the table allocation we were confronted with a very arrogant and un co operative manager. upon his response we decided to leave the restaurant . we were very unhappy and it ruined our evening we had planned.
would not recommend or go to this restaurant again. stay away not worth the effort or hassle!!!
Sjbutlermda
Good Choice. Having a child with a peanut allergy it can be difficult to eat at all restaurants so italian is always a good fallback. Very attentive about our sons allergies, food was good and waiting staff energetic, friendly and quick. Arancini balls - excellent. Meatballs with tomato sugo - enjoyed very much by our son and Margaretta pizza with Buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil delicious. Thanks guys.

Very Disappointed with Take out Order. After ordering in excess of 5 take out pizzas on a Saturday night and being told the would be ready for pick up in 40 mins. We got there in just over 30 mins And they were already in boxes . We only live 5 mins alway so we
Were very disappointed to fine dry and over cooked pizzas and for over $150 they will not have my service again. Very disappointing because we have eaten in at East Brunswick many times and have always enjoyed the food.

Soggy pizza, order stuff up & overpriced house wine. Went with friends last Saturday night - pizza was soggy in the middle, they brought our friends entree and main course at the same time and a litre of house red $36 (way overpriced).
Won't be going back again!

Second-rate food and wait staff don't speak english. We went there last week expecting a great pizza and we found a super thin base with a hole in the middle and a poor topping..We tried the porccini mushroom pizza ( and they were common mushrooms low quality ) and the seafood one with frozen stuff on it! I'm originally from Italy and I'm able to recognize good food! But the worst things were waiters..tried to speak with two boys but neither could answer us! at the end a kind italian girl help us to get the count and two coffees . never again

Absolutely ridicas. New to the area we thought we would try this restaurant. The waiters told us about the specials menu which we then decided to order after waiting at least 30~40 mins to order. Then after ording we found out it was actually entree size, which wasn't a meal so we re ordered two lasagnas for 2 people. They then came back and served the lasagna which didn't come out with the pizza we ordered which was literally the size of my small Palm, and to top it off the waiter told us that it was actually the only one left. Paying 28 dollars for lasagna that could feed a small child my parents had to share the lasagna as we didn't have time to wait around for more food which had taken 2.5 hours. They offered us new food but I think it's besides the point, wasted time, small quantitys and expensive pricing for a super average meal. Will not be returning.

Orrible pizzas. We had a dinner last night. They should learn the meaning of good pizza. Dough tasteless and too much topping. Never back!!

Over Priced and Under delivered. I was looking forward to going to Woodstock in Essendon after having had the pizza years ago in the original Woodstock in Nrth Carlton so I asked a few friends to join me. It did not impress my friends. We left rather disappointed. The food was just ok. The Pizza was nice but not worth the price. The pasta dishes that my party had were again tasty but the servings were small for the $30 we paid. I ordered the special which was the lasagna which was sold to me as having belchamel sauce and the serves were "this big" the rather abrupt waitress said. It come half the size she promised and no sign of belchamel sauce. It did have taste ok but it was too dry for my liking. The garlic foccocia was dry and we think they forgot the garlic. The bread they brought to the table was delicious. The price for drinks were a little high with the cheapest bottle of wine being $46. Overall for a small serve of pasta which we hoped would have come with a bit of salad and a glass of wine each cost us around $36 per head. I do not mind paying for good food but this was not worth it and we left feeling cheated.

Never again. Over priced horrible food. service was deplorable and our waiter couldn't speak English . Our entrees came out with main meals and that was an hour after we ordered. The salad was warm and soggy and they served warm tap water. When asked how our meals were we told the staff member and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "ok". DO NOT GO THERE. You have been warned!!!

Went for brekkie.....how hard is it be get a proper poached egg. Both mine and my husband's eggs were overlooked as was his bacon. Coffee was good, hoping their pizzas are much better

Wolf dressed in sheep skin. Went to Woodstock after my sister highly recommended their pasta it is just around the corner. We were duped we ordered porcini mushroom papadelle and were given button mushrooms with a few porcini slithers tossed in the mix. After bringing it to the attention of the wait staff and the restaurant manager he proceeded to tell us that this is what they do and that the can of imported mushroom must of been mixed and that it wasnt their fault. Simple rules must be followed if you want to mix your mushrooms then state that on the menu do not state a premium ingredient and charge premium $29 and serve an cheaper inferior product. We would of preferred an apology or just a dish full of porcini mushrooms rather than blatant lies just because we dont have an Italian accent does not mean that we dont know difference.

I am torn about this restaurant. I love the decore is beautiful, but I never feel comfortable there- the space isn't relaxing. I like the food, but I feel like it would be good if they had a gluten free bases- that way I could go there with friends that are GF

Seriously!!?? Who they trying to kid?. Given the experience of Tony Cannata in this industry, one would expect much more, if you are? You'll be bitterly disappointed. Completely over rated, over priced, over arrogant staff. Compared to 400 gradi or doc, woodstock is not worth mentioning on the same breath. I've almost had better pizzas from dominos.. Pizza so tough it couldn't be cut with a knife.. Seriously.. I've never seen a marinara priced so high $37 for basically soup with spaghetti in it.. Nothing short of an absolute travesty of an attempt.. Working visa staff who's comprehension of the English language are barely adequate, just barely. Sky high prices and absolute minimal hourly rate staff. I mean seriously, who are they trying to fool? Will never go back!! Go Gradi go DOC.. Woodstock can go get f@*kd!

BEST PIZZA EVER!!!!! I have not had a great dining experience like this in a while! The authentic flavours in the Regina pizza remind me of my nonnas home cooking!!!!! And that Nutella calzone!!! Loved it
Mark
Long wait times, food good quality but not worth that much. We decided to go and check it out..I had heard the Nutella calzones were huge and to die for. We had dinner which was fine and for desert a $16 calzone which was tiny. Also had a canoli which was a little thicker than my finger for $9. Ended up with a $135 bill for 3 mains a beer, lemon lime bitters and deserts... And still left hungry...

Too busy worrying about their pockets and not their customers.
After waiting 40min for a table we left. We were told we couldn't make a booking for 2 people and to come down as it wouldn't be a long wait. When we arrived we were told there was only a 10min wait so we waited and looked at a number of empty tables.
When 4 people came without a booking they were given a table straight away this is when we left very unhappy!

Would not return, too expensive for the serve, very noisey. Can get much better menu at a pub!

A real taste of Italy. Authentic italian pizza, good food, eg linguini and bluecrab, wirh tomatoes, garlic and chilli, super Yum, large doses of the Italian language and charm, quirky, but lovely

Good food and good service. Had lunch here on a Sunday and had a pleasant afternoon. The quality of the dishes was quite good and the pizza was really tasty. The pizzas were reasonably priced, but I felt the salad and pasta dishes were a bit expensive, however I don't mind paying a little extra when I know I'm going to get a good quality meal.

Nothing wrong with the foods but the noisiest eatery I have experienced. Very busy and extremely noisy on a Saturday night. The staff are 'personality' types which is ok by me but might annoy some. The food was very good. We shared some entrees and pizza and the quality was fine. I thought it was expensive. The wine list comprises Italian wines which were over $40 a bottle and you can forget about having a conversation with your fellow diners. I would suggest that one could find equivalent quality restaurants in the area which are less expensive, less noisy and byo. Better value in my book.

Arrogance is the special if the day. Thr most arrogant service I have ever encountered.

Very ordinary. Heard some good thing about 'Woodstock' and decided to check it out, but totally disappointed. The dough was above average, the topping was very ordinary. The tomato sauce was bland, anchovy was so salty, it was almost inedible.
The service was friendly.
I would rate this a distant third behind 400 Gradi and Scoozi in Ascot Vale.

Perfect balance... Thin crusty base with ample topping! Very tasty and great portion size. Yes it's a little over priced BUT id return in a heart beat. Best wood fire pizza in the area. Love the decor, staff, vibe and food!

I'm fussy about my pizza and this place was top 2..The night was great. Wish there were more valiants from the 80's parked out the front.
