Oh wow, try the protein packed pancake, just love it. So delicious and fully healthy, they cooked with 100% organic coconut oil. I think its the so far the best i had.....definitely go back again and highly recommended �����

Enjoyed a delicious birthday brunch this morning at st martha's. With an extensive menu, great coffee and friendly staff would have to be the number 1 cafe in essendon. Will definitely be back to try everything else on the menu. Great work guys

Nice little cafe that ticks all the right boxes! Good & friendly service, delicious food and the right price. The chilli scrambled egg croissant had a nice kick of spice and the croissant was nice and crunchy. Will definitley come back to try other items on the menu.

Everything tasted great and was decently priced. We had the corn and zucchini fritters and smoked salmon Benedict. First time I tried a beetroot latte, but it didn't taste like the vegetable (which I guess is normal?)..
Went for lunch. We had the protein bowl and chicken quesadillas, flat white and ‘good morning’ juice. The dishes were delicious and had a great balance of flavours, and healthy mix of meat and veggie components. The juice and coffee were great - nothing to fault there. Wait staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a lovely first visit and look forward to being back!
At first I thought the seafood linguini wouldn’t have much flavours but I was wrong. It had full of flavours and a bit of spice to give it a kick. The shakshouka portion was a bit small but was delicious and again had lots of flavours. I would definitely come back!

Came here for lunch. Ordered the risotto and seafood linguine, chai latte and normal latter. Overall very good food and customer service is top notch. Due to new fly over build over the buckley road, is hard to spot this little gem but is just right next to Columbus College.

We decided to try this cafe since there was a groupon deal for 2 breakfast/lunch and 2 coffees for $33.
I ordered the special fritters which were delicious and sooooo filling, my partner ordered the shashuka which came with roti bread and enjoyed that too.
I was only disappointed with the matcha latte that I had ordered. It was very milky and I couldn’t taste the matcha at all which could be due to the matcha powder they use or just simply not enough powder. However, my partner’s coffee was good. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and soaked some sun outside :)
Located along Buckley St, Essendon close to the train station, St Martha’s Cafe is a suburban neighbourhood gem. The cafe is spacious, making it ideal for groups.
We ordered the Shakshuka and the Pork Benedict along with the Acai berry & granola smoothie and a coffee to drink.
Out of the two dishes, the standout was the Benedict. The pork belly was cooked perfectly. The crisp asparagus provided a freshness to the dish, whilst the apple purée provided a hint of sweetness. The dish was tied together by the creamy chipotle hollandaise sauce. The shakshuka would be ideal for a cold morning, it was warm and conforting. I can’t quite pinpoint it but it somehow seemed reminiscent of a curry.
Overall I had a pleasant experience at St Martha’s Cafe and I recommend that you check them out if you’re in the area. I give them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. Thanks very much for having me.
Lovely cafe with a very warm and friendly vibe. Our favourite food is the Shakshuka and the kids enjoyed the pancakes and the pasta. The staff are very friendly. Inside and outside seating arrangement is nice and bathrooms have good hygiene. Overall, we will definitely come back again.
Family owned business, lovely people, great service & 10/10 meals. I ordered the corn fritters and my partner the double wagu burger. We loved it. The prices are very reasonable and the food is mouth watering. Definitely be back & recommend for everyone to try
Great food and service generally! Would love to see the place become a bit more ‘vegetarian-friendly’ by allowing vegetarian substitutions into meals, rather than just having to pay for the meat option minus the meat.
Been here over 10 times and this was one of the best! Great coffee as usual. The shakshuka was beautiful, and the bread was a stand out. The beet hommus is so different and so good. Will be returning again!

St Martha's is an unassuming and quiet cafe with a simple but cosy interior that dishes up healthy, delicious and wholesome food at affordable prices.
Dropping by for breakfast, the menu had quite a few interesting options (like BBQ Chicken Gua Baos) along with all the classic brunch dishes. And importantly, there were lots of vegan and gluten-free options as well if you have a diverse group of eaters you need to cater for!
My friend and I ended up trying the Berries and Coconut Chia Pudding and the Broad Bean and Beet Hummus Toast. The food was beautifully presented and for the most part, tasted great. My friend noted the hummus was very well made and all the elements in her dish went together very well. For my chia pudding, everything was excellent except for the rhubarb - it was so sour it overpowered the rest of the chia pudding and I ended up having to scoop it out.
My friend loved that the juices were freshly squeezed here and the coffee was also very good - decently strong and smooth.
All in all, I'd definitely be returning, because despite some faults, there were still many things done right (and because I want to try out their lunch dishes).
Delicious food, decent portion sizes, interesting menu and fantastic coffee! All at a fairly standard brunch price, and complemented by friendly and attentive service, and set in a light-filled and welcoming space.
Great food and I found the service good but it was reasonably empty staff friendly and the decor was small and plain looking but very clean I would recommend it for anyone looking for a good coffee or feed and I would return as I find it good value for money
Worth the drive ... on the right track
A bit far to travel but this cafe is worth the drive and "definitely" is on the right track.
Simply renovated, pleasant ambiance, easy on the eye and it was packed one Sunday morning.
Food wise; creative, ingenious, very well presented and most importantly tasted delicious from six different dishes, a small issue but wasn't a big deal.
They seem serious about their coffee too .... and Matcha .... Attentive, pleasant, cohesive team running the show.

How good is this quiet little cafe and I usually have their Chai Soy Latte which is smooth, nice and hot & served in a traditional cast iron pot.
You can get up to two cups from it so that's value for money compared to soy's from other cafes where they charge $4-$5. Good descent staff and some good healthy lunch items available. Parking can be a problem sometimes but best if you park further, walk a bit, then you can EAT more!!!!
First time here & we're impressed! Cosy place, staff very friendly. Great coffee & brekkie was generous & tasty. We sat in back room which was a little cold- that's probably the only negative on our visit. Brownie hot cakes were amazing!!

Delicious food but coffee is bitter and service is slow. They asked us if we wanted to order and we said we needed 2 min to decide. 10 min later we went to the till to order as no-one had come to us. 3 meals about $60.
Food was brilliant. Smallish tables. Service was slightly slow, but it was full of patrons so understandable. Very reasonable price for the portion size. Definitely coming back!
This Wagyu Burger beast comprised of mouth-watering tasty cheese wagyu pattie, crispy bacon, fried drooping egg, with iceberg lettuce, chipotle, aioli jalapeno, and sherry onions served with beer battered chips. Wowza! 😱

Honestly my favourite cafe in Melbourne! Reasonable price for a big portion of food. Love the service and atmosphere! Corn fritters and veggie burger is a must try. It's not too crowded so perfect atmosphere to catch up with friends and have a relaxed time
I really enjoyed the truffle buttered mushrooms, they make great coffee here too. In comparison to most cafes, it is really cheap and good value for money! The only negative of St. Martha's is the service. Coffee took over 15 minutes to arrive and food took about 40 minutes. The clearing of plates was also really delayed. Luckily it didn't matter too much for us as we were not in any rush at the time, but otherwise it would have been really annoying.
The people are friendly and polite. My coffee was perfect. The food was delicious - I ordered smashed avocado with eggs. It was well presented. I couldn't put my finger on why this place didn't make more of an impression. Maybe it was how reserved and quiet it felt. I couldn't hear music and I didn't quite feel relaxed.

Delicious! The corn & zucchini fritters were mouth-watering. Avocado smash & grilled haloumi complimented the dish. Great service & amazing juices that I recommend to anyone who loves the raw flavour of fruits & vegies with NO added anything!
Brunch here is never a regret. We basically come here if we can't be bothered finding a new Cafe to try out in the area. Cute decor and food is always fresh, not too salty/oily/unhealthy and staff are lovely.
We enjoyed a lovely, long lunch here a few weeks back. Both of our dishes were wonderful, and the coffee a stand out. Sitting outside, it was near impossible to have our plates cleared or order second coffees, though, despite there not being many customers inside. Also, the waitresses scoff at my request to have my eggs cooked well-done, despite my being very obviously heavily pregnant, was another downside to the experience. All in all, though, it proved a nice, local place for breakfast and lunch.

St Marthas situated next door to an old man cleaning and fixing up shoes and around a 30 second walk from Essendon station is an absolutely adorable cafe with great service, food and coffee.
This was actually the establishment I had my first black coffee in and started to learn a lot more coffee from there on out. The barista at the time (which I understand he has moved on) cared a lot about the coffee he produced and walked me through the different kinds. The coffee is like nothing I had before, sweet, floral whilst still being bold.
I haven't been back in quite some time but I hope the standard has kept to the level I experienced the small handful of times I went.
The chocolate brownie is to die for! Definitely a life saver when you've rolled out of bed at 8:20 and need your coffee/hot chocolate before school 😅
We came to St. Martha's for our classic Sunday's brunch. As soon as we walked in, we have been warmly welcomed by their bubbly staff who showed us our table.
The venue looks really nice and the atmosphere was just the perfect one for a good breakfast out.
We ordered an espresso by Axil Coffee Roasters which it was absolutely delicious, and an old school homemade lemonade, super refreshing.
Time to eat now...their menu had lots to offer and after a while we jumped on the Salmon Eggs Benedict and their homemade granola. Food hit the table and both dishes looked amazing. Tasty, humble and fresh flavours are unbeatable. Thank you for having us 😊😊😊
Quality coffee (Axil Coffee Roasters). I had the calamari salad which was flavoursome and the calamari was quite tender and delicious. My partner got the smashed avo which was equally as nice. Will definitely be back!
I totally understand that fixing up the ventilation system in a cafe is most likely costly, time-consuming, not worth the hassle or all of the above. But this won't stop me from saying this - my pet peeve is my hair and clothes smelling like part of the kitchen fixtures at the end of my meal. It would be a different story though if I'm having hot pot or BBQ, or am in a takeaway joint or a bar. But this time I do have myself to blame because I could have chose to sit outside. Now that I've got that out of my system, I must say despite the smell, we enjoyed the food very much (Eggs Omelette and the Buttered Mushrooms). Tasty, full of flavour and very filling. Service was very laid back and relaxed, so best not to go if you're in a rush. However if you are up for a leisurely brunch, a better than standard meal and a reasonably decent cup of coffee, this is your place.
Best corn fritters in Essendon/surrounding suburbs. Other meals are always delicious and the coffee is consistently perfect. Friendly staff and fast service!

Best porridge I've ever eaten. So dam delicious!! Great selection of choices for everyone, great location. Right in the middle of private schools and with the train station near by it has to be your first choice for a quick take away or a sit down lunch.
Went to St Martha's for the first time and well what a surprise. The Food was delicious. We had the Smashed Avocado, Pulled pork sliders and the chicken and bean salad. All the food was fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend this café for a scrumptious lunch or breakfast.
Food was pretty good, quick to come out and beautifully presented. Staff are very friendly, extremely reasonable prices and fresh juice is always a plus. Aesthetically it could do with some extra natural light inside!

Reasonable prices with plenty of options. Popular but not so much that there is a 45 minute wait to grab a table. I have been twice and tried the wild rice porridge and quinoa porridge. Both are dishes which I can recommend.
Great food. Service a bit slow but a very relaxed style of service which no one seemed to mind. I had the salt and pepper calamari with a Vietnamese style salad which was awesome. My sister had the corn fritters which she loved and my mum had the Martha's Breakfast - enjoyed thoroughly but not the hash brown . One complaint was the Mocha (coffee) mum ordered as made with chocolate flavouring swirled around the glass - yuk. No flavour and v disappointing
Thoroughly enjoyed the food here. Great coffee. Well prepared meals at real good prices. Small but quaint little place that puts a lot of effort into their food. Each meal was bursting with flavour and made me want to come back the next day!

Open plan café with decent food and coffee. Has the option of loose leaf or powder chai. Win for those who actually prefer the powder form. Would recommend if in the area. Chai Latte (powder form) $4.50. One of the only places that offered us the option of powder Chai or loose leaf form. My friend is a giant fan of the powder form, so she was super happy that she was given the choice. Good chai as well. 8/10
This place is alot bigger than it looks from the outside. Went here New years morning and must say both the food and servicenwes exceptional. The smashed avocado with poached eggs was very nice and the food presentation was excellent. I will definately be back here again as the lunch menu looks amazing

I wasn't really expecting much (for no particular reason) but was pleasantly surprised. Wait staff were friendly and the food, whilst nothing special, was lovely. Vegetarian burger was nice but could have done without the salad on the side as it added nothing. My avocado smash was typical of every other one I've ever had. We also tried the salted caramel brownie which was my favorite thing oft the day.
My local and I'm so glad. Love this place. Staff are super welcoming, coffee is solid and food is so good.
Can always come back here and know I will walk out happy. It's one of those places!
I really enjoyed the salt and pepper calamari salad, which was refreshing, well seasoned and colourful. The salad was a little dry and could have been lightly dressed, but was still fantastic with the simple wedge of lemon.
Long blacks, chai, hot chocolate and flat whites were all served with care and experience, and I'd recommend this for any meal or drinks.
This little cafe is lovely, peaceful and a great find. The staff were so friendly and happy. It's the type of cafe that you can just stay and chat even after you have finished your food and plates have been taken. I had the buttermilk blueberry hotcake and a small of their deluxe hot chocolate. Both were great! The hotcake was fluffy and delicious just by it self but I like the fresh fruit and especially the macadamia ice cream. The hot chocolate was so good and chocolatey. Both were a good portion size and good value. It's safe to say, I will definitely come to try more food.
Consistently good food and coffee here! Awesome customer service, nice casual place to have all day breakfast, heaps of choice, really reasonable prices, prices, and nice, relaxed atmosphere. Only downside is the stupid level crossing with all the trains and can get very noisy! This might be because I've never sat inside but it's nice and sunny out the front in summer and they even provide blankets for the chillier months!
Coffee is is great! I quite enjoyed the variety on their menu. The place offers a relaxed environment. I'd recommend the beef cheek sliders and magic (double shot espresso), but you can make up your own mind on your choice of foods.
I found this little gem by accident on my ventures to find the perfect cafe that had proper barista made Melbourne coffee that we're famous for, including tasty gourmet breakfasts and lunches. I've now been back to St Martha's half a dozen times in the last couple of months and every time they do not disappoint. The menu has an Eastern European theme as well as the staple basics for breakfast connoisseurs and everything, I mean everything is great! Even the little things like the baked beans, spinach and mushrooms are done with the finesse of what must be a very capable chef in the kitchen. Top everything off with genuinely friendly staff and the attention to detail creates one if the best cafes in Melbourne.
This little cafe has the best coffee around, and I will drive past loads of other places just to get some! Friendly service too. Haven't tried the food yet though.
We ordered smash avocado with poach eggs and scramble eggs with mushroom and bacon. The coffees were good, reasonably strong. The beans were fresh. The smash avocado has some sort of turmeric and curry powder with black sesame seeds. It was a well balanced dish. The serving of the scramble eggs were generous and mushroom seemed fresh.
Service was good.
St. Martha's is a hidden gem in Essendon. The breakfasts are fairly priced, of excellent quality and served in generous portions. The coffee is outstanding. We will be back!

A cosy little hideaway near Essendon Railway station. Cosy environment, lovely service, most enjoyable coffee and tastee food. Enjoyed the omlette special with caramelised onion and mushrooms. Changing local artwork for sale on the walls is a wonderful idea. Its obvious the people who work here take pride in what they do, present and stand for. A great find. We shall return. Delicious and great value for money. St Martha's has such an extensive menu with something for everyone and every mood. The meals are generous, absolutely delicious and so reasonably priced. The buttered mushrooms are so delicious and the warm rice pudding is just like a wonderful warm hug. Somehow the food manages to be simultaneously very homely and familiar yet different/special enough to still make brunch an 'occasion'. They also have a home brewed probiotic drink that they make on site which is very tasty (and good for you!).
Single origin for the win!. Visited here following a recommendation. Was a bit of a novice coffee drinker but have enjoyed coming in and sampling the changing single orgins blends. Really highlights the differences in bean.
Staff are always super friendly and up for a chat, especially if you are keen to learn more about coffee. Worth the visit!

Brunch was yum yum. Booked a table on a Saturday and glad we booked as this place was busy. Many people were having brunch just like us. The food options created dilemmas as it was hard to choose from so many things that looked like they would be great. I went with buttery mushrooms and goats cheese on toast ... doesn't sound much when said like that, but it was the best ever. I would come back again just for that (and then I'd come back again).
The hot chocolate was luke warm ... and it took ages to arrive. A hot chocolate by name should be hot, so it is disappointing when it isn't.
