Review Pizza Raphael - Essendon

ANGEL
I have always been fully supportive of this business raved about the food quality & prices along with delivery prices to everyone Now that there are new owners Food quality is poor Food cold Prices are higher Delivery price is now $5 for a 1 km drive ( from $2.00) ( Bring back the last owners ) Delivery person he is rude needs to loose his attitude he is a bad investment for this business To the owners I suggest you lift your game … “Quality “should be in your food and your staff Stop blaming Covid for everything !!! To everyone else Shop around !!!!

Probably the best pizza’s and pastas in the Essendon and surrounding district. Freshly made - you can see them made right in front of you with care and skill. It’s a small family business and very popular with the locals so can get rather busy, but runs like clockwork - even when busy the system runs smooth. Delivery available to surrounding Niddrie, Essendon, Aberfeldie, Essendon North + West Essendon at $2 per delivery - or three dollars for anything other like Avondale Heights, and Moonee Ponds. Ingredients are always fresh and tasty with plenty of generous portions.

The best pizza in the neighbourhood. We've enjoyed Pizza Raphael for at least the last 10 years - always a pleasure!

I've tried many pizza places in the area and this is the best pizza I have ever had. They know my order and perfect it every time. The service is wonderful, So thank you for always making a great pizza :)

Not that authentic, but good value for money pizza. There are certainly some better places around but this is pretty good. Generous amount of toppings, tasty. If I am in in the area again, I will try it again. I can recommend.

The pizzas were AMAZING! So flavourful and hit the spot on a cold night. Great customer service and great price! They never fail to disappoint!

We used to really enjoy the pizza from Pizza Raphael, the bases were great; never overly thin, over cooked, or soggy but airy and perfect - fine for reheating leftovers the next day. The ingredients were always fresh: juicy fresh prawns on the Raphael Special. Customer service was excellent, if they burnt the pizza slightly or the base was smaller than it should be they would always offer something extra to make up for this shortfall. The quality has changed in the last few months. Garlic bread often burnt. The pizza has a lack of ingredients; our regular Raphael special now has barely any prawns or olives, and the prawns are of a much lower quality. The taste is not as good as it used to be either - lower quality ingredients most likely. From looking at other reviews it appears that the business is under new management who are clearly not prioritising a high quality product anymore. Being a regular customer of Pizza Raphael for many years we are very disappointed about the drop in quality, and will be searching for a pizza shop that serves a better quality product.

I like the pizza here but rang up at 7:50 and was told there was a 35 min wait. I just got handed my pizza at 8:47 - no apologies for the wait, nothing. A bit of customer service goes a long way... don’t forget that.

Probably the best pizza I have had since I moved here to Melbourne Fantastic

Is seriously the best pizza EVER. I'm shattered I've moved too far for delivery or pick up. Missing my American with double topping bad

I called to make a delivery order at 7:05pm on a Saturday night. I was told on the phone my food would be delivered within the hour. It was getting close t the hour so I thought maybe I’ll call and see how far it is. I then get told by a very rude and arrogant girl that my food was still in the oven and 14minutes from being ready. To then add extra fine for delivery my food was well over an hour. At 7:54 I told her that this was going to be over an hour. To her then saying no I said within the hour which which it will be. She definately could not count time properly as 14minutes from 7:54 would be 7:08. And that was only when it would have been coming out of the oven. The girl was persistent that I called and made the order at 7:06 (wow 1 minute after I made the order) and still this was going to be over an hour. Customer service by her was appalling and she could not accept the fact that she was incorrect. Our food had then arrived at 8:15. Good on you lady on the phone you definately know how to treat your customers.

Their pizza is ok but rang up at 7:50 and was told there was a 35 min wait. I just got handed my pizza at 8:47 - no apologies for the wait, nothing. A bit of customer service and honesty go a long way... don’t forget that.

One of my go-to places in the Essendon area. Always perfect, very consistent. I don't understand the bad reviews personally, always loved this place!

Not good.
There are few prerequisites for Pizza.
Stodgy dough base and cheap and greasy toppings are not good pizza.
Grossly disappointing to say the least.

First time ordering from here and did so via menu log. Order time was estimated an hour and was pretty much spot on. Got a medium meat lovers pizza and a marinara pasta. Pizza was average, had nice flavour but the outside was burnt and the inside seemed like it could have used an extra 5 or so minutes. Pasta was not the best, lacked flavour and we needed to ad a bit extra salt, seafood also tasted like it was frozen and old and the sauce was thick and congealed.

Came here right after tutor to get some pizza. We ordered the family size half margarita and half special. The toppings were generous, pizza crust was fairly thin and crisp. One of the best pizzas I've tried at a decent price, although like most pizza places they charge a dollar for halves. It was a great change for the usual Casa Pizza that I usually get.
In terms of service: nothing outstanding but nothing bad (average) the wait was 15 mins exactly the time they informed us. I see a lot of reviews saying that ordering from menu log is really slow. When I visited the shop, the guys delivering for menu log seem to be very close to the owner of the place therefore their "chat session" might be reason why it's taking so long. Overall everything was all cool ✅

If you want your order delivered in time as promised and agreed, then suggest give these guys a miss. You've lost my business for good. Never again.

I get home delivery from Raphael's a few times a month. I've left countless reviews on Eat Now etc, but thought I should leave one here. Mainly, because LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT $16 PARMA. 👍

I started out as a very loyal pizza fan, but since trying their parmas, it makes for a difficult choice. They are huge! Always well cooked and come with a perfectly seasoned (and fresh!) side salad. The chips are also spot on.

There's no point saying much about their pizzas - they are the best in the area, bar none. Full of great flavour combos and generous with toppings, no need to try anywhere else. Pasta is just as on par.

Above all, the service here is top notch. Always a friendly face and they value returning customers highly.

Ordered through Menulog, pizza for delivery. Quoted 60 minute wait. In fact, took 1 hour 40 minutes and I had to call to find the whereabouts. Pizza was good but wait time wasn't.

Acceptable pizza. Gourmet vegetable was surprisingly good. Decent value and service is always solid. Good for family function or party. Had take away, pizzas arrived nice and hot.

Pizza Raphael has got to be one of the best pizzas in Melbourne, never disappoints, pizza base is spot on. Reasonable price. Have tried other places in the area but nothing beats this place, well done raph.
Gio
Very good for a local pizza ! Liked the base cooked well.
Lydia
Oh wow a 60 minute wait ....arrived 75mins later?? Pizza base was good BUT the amount of cheese that was like rubber was all we could taste on all our pizzas... That we had to take half of the cheese off to even make the pizza edible - definitely not worth the wait

This place should have a higher rating.. Best in the west. I always judge a pizza by its base and the quality and quantity of toppings. I've eaten from every pizza shop in the area and these guys are well ahead of their peers. The perfect mix of traditional Italian/modern Australian pizza. Best dough ever.
Lena.evgeniadis
If you want pizza that takes 2 hours to deliver. Ordered through menu log. Its taken almost close to 2 hours to deliver a pizza an hour later then the estimated time. Beyond a joke.

Rachael. Used to think Rapheal's Pizza
Chicken Parm was best thing since sliced bread told everyone this every chance I got ......
but the last one delivered was disgusting it was burnt- dry - cheese was like a glue ball plonked on top
Chucked it out
Sorry guys you need to lift your game

Great pizza, please answer your phone!!!!!!!. Best pizza in the area... that is, if they answer the phone! I understand that Friday and Saturday nights are busy in the pizza business but would be great if you could at least answer the phone! I have been in to pick up pizza during busy periods and there are about 7 people working but only 2 making pizzas, the rest are just standing around! I am trying to be loyal to Rapheals as the pizza is great but I normally want pizza on the weekend which seems to be a no go! I too have been going to Goofeys where they are cheaper and will answer the phone and deliver within an hour. Please sort it out Raphaels!
JK
I really like Pizza Raphael...when they answer their phone. The last 3 Friday nights I've tried to call at about 6:45 they just don't answer. I understand it's a busy time but I would wait and I don't think it's an unreasonable time to be calling for pizza! Just got Goofy's instead, can't go wrong there!

EASILY THE BEST pizza in the north west. I like my pizza spicy, it's nice to find a hot pizza that is ACTUALLY hot. Do try the volcano!!!

Value for Money. Order in or pickup pizza is a bargain. Local pizza joint that doesn't try too hard and doesn't need to. No-nonsense and delicious, there is a definite reason why this place is always busy. Recommended!
Lauren_in_vic
Lovely pizza. Great pizza, usually a bit late on arriving but it's always hot and delicious.

2 hours & 15 minutes until a pizza and pasta reached my doorstep... Was told estimated arrival would be an hour ... What a joke! Will never order from here again .. First and last time
Cookiemonster
Awesome pizza!!.. recently moved up the road and I still go there...They know me by name and my pizza and pasta is always delicious even after all these years.... Keep up the great work guys!!
Chocolate.Factory
Soggy pizza bases seem to be the norm. Lucky their pasta passes muster. Honestly....., we sometimes love their food & other times just eat it because they are one of the local restaurants.... Even if we're not overly rapt with it. Eat Pizza in Maribyrnong have a quality pizza. Goofy's in Essendon is an oil slick & Pippo's in Niddrie/Essendon is a sloppy mess.... So Pizza Raphael isn't doing too bad by comparison!

Pizza Raphael has recently moved down the street from us and I'm glad they did. The pizzas are fab, but the staff can be a tad grumpy. Despite that, would def return.

Noice!. I like to order a specially made Capricciosa for home delivery. I live in East Keilor and I went through two other closer pizza places before Pizza Raphael. This guy really knows how to make a pizza. The other places were hit and miss, mostly miss but Pizza Raphael gets it right every time.
