Review Fifteen Pounds Cafe - Fairfield

When your having a good day, the best service and over loaded with something hot and black inside you, this is the place. Awesome coffee and the food? I think you should visit and judge for yourself.

Wonderful little cafe great barista coffee & hearty brekky. Their coffee always hits the spot. They have ‘on the go’ Brekky options too if you are in the morning rush. If you need a sugar hit, their muffins & cookie selection won’t disappoint.
Rouven Grossmann
Nicely presented, well portioned and extremely delicious Monday morning brekkie! Good value for money and very attentive and kind service. Their creation of smashed avo was new to me, there was a lot of salmon on the plate too and the matcha latte warmed me up. Will be coming back!

Wonderful experience every time you walk in. All they staff are friendly and the food and coffee is always consistently good. It's an amazing achievement that the consistency has remained so high for so many years. john the owner is a passionate and super charming man and should be very proud of what he has achieved at fifteen pounds. Keep up the good work team

Lovely meal in delightful setting. Meal was delicious. My only concern is tables are very close together.

One of the best cafe in Melbourne, you can not imagine how good the services ls and how friendly the staff were. The drinks were perfect and tasty. We had an infant 3 M old. There were one of the staff named John he was playing , talking to our baby all the time and really he made our baby smile a lot☺️. I really enjoyed my time there. The indoor seats were great and they have outdoor and in back seats. I really love this place. Recommend and I’ll be back here for sure.

A few new staff, John has a well oiled machine. Vaccine passport required, masks optional. This is one of my top 10 for coffee, the food is good, the coffee is good, the customer service is good. Damn - it is just a great place to go. Enjoy the unique environment, dog friendly, bike friendly and ready for families or groups. 15 Pounds owner, John, is often seen serving or preparing food and drinks - a real hands on owner/operator. Definitely a go to place.

Wow you guys! You are awesome! Everything here was on point - from the service, food, decor and venue. Promptly greeted on arrival with a smile and the smell of coffee! The place was packed and we were lucky to get in just as a table cleared! We were taken care of different servers at different points but all were lovely, accommodating and friendly. Plenty of selections from the menu and our server was patient and took my friend over the menu which helped with her indecisiveness. The Chai lattes here are yummy and so was my burger! Serious local vibes here and makes me want to explore cafes in the north more. Ample parking around the area and pup friendly too with an outdoor area! Will be back to visit again and thank you for a lovely experience!

The only place in Melbourne where I have been able to get a decent cup of tea. Attentive staff, nice decor, great location. Five stars reserved for an amazing experience. This was very good. Thanks.

OK, we need to talk! I've been a local in Fairfield for the past 11 months, and I can safely say that 15 Pounds is the best cafe in town. Coffee is exceptional, staff are very welcoming and provide impeccable service and the food is Devine, like seriously it's completely WOW! I would drive a long distance to come to 15 Pounds if I had to. All the best for 2017 Guys. :)

First time today at fifteen pounds and it was not nice. We waited a long time for our food and a lot of other people around us and when it arrived, we both had hash stacks, both hashes were burnt on the outside and rubbery crust, the mushrooms were soaked in a salty brine and the bacon was dry like it was sitting in a Bain Marie and there was a drizzle of hollandaise on each egg. First and last time and to compensate we didn't have to pay for our coffee so still cost us $43 for a half eaten meal.
Bizarre Bahar
Absolutely delicious food and a perfect cup of coffee. Had the Fifteen Bennie and a mocha. Food looked like a work of art and tasted even better. Also one of the best mochas I've had in Melbourne.

Always love the coffee, meals and staff at 15 pounds. And this morning the very kind barista made my day by making me a speedy takeaway coffee so I didn’t miss my train! Legend! Thank you

It's the truth that good coffee is never far away anywhere in Melbourne, and hubby and I have been enjoying our monthly brunch dates trying out different cafes near home. Fifteen Pounds is yet another winner for us, for good coffee and delicious food. It's very conveniently located next to Fairfield Station, on the quieter side of the rail tracks, and easy to locate. The interior is cozy and comfortable, and there are outdoor tables both out in front on the sidewalk and at the back. There are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options on the menu. This is definitely a place we will revisit frequently for our brunch dates.
The Wandering Reviewer
Brunch and lunch is a regular family event and after some googling this morning I chose this place on the reviews. The first time I came it wasn't that great but more recently If oudn it much better. Congratulations team FIfteen Pounds. You've done well to weather the road / rail works and now good food as well.
The waiting staff were friendly and excellent at their job. Our orders for drinks taken and after they were served our food order taken.
The smashed avocado under the scrambled egg was nice and fresh. My sons burger though was very nice.
Wheelchair friendly at a pinch as it’s very tight with seating. Definitely kid friendly and in fact a great place for kids of all ages to dine. Parking is pretty good along Railway Place or the side streets although limited to one hour. Toilets clean.
Nick
We looked forward to this. Sort of "friendly" service, but largely uninspiring. We shared 1 x scrambled eggs on toast with mushrooms which were ordinary, not seasoned and essentially tasteless. Presentation was borderline satisfactory. Food was uninspiring as was coffee but drinkable. 1 plate, plus 1 large coffee and an orange juice and it was $42 thanks very much. CH James around the corner blows this away. Try that.

Fifteen pounds has been a go-to for me for the last couple years, usually spot on but unfortunately we had such a sad time with lunch. Overcooked chicken, so much cabbage in a bowl meant to be filled with variety of elements, less than a teaspoon of dressing. Overall was a real bummer. The coffee was amazing, and the service was good. Hopefully the food will stay on track, worth visiting.
Pinch Of Bacon
The coffee and tea here was spectacular! The food was not consistent - the burger was amazing but the poached eggs weren’t runny. The food took ages to be prepared and the bacon we ordered with the eggs was forgotten. The second order for tea was also forgotten and we needed to remind the waitress after 20 minutes.
Melbourne Madness
Absolutely delicious! 😍

After seeing some great reviews and this cafe being local to us, we decided to give it a visit for brunch.

What can I say... the food was so delicious, especially the scrambled eggs. I got the Mexican burrito dish and already can’t wait to go back and get it again!

Definitely recommend this place - best cafe in Fairfield, and even the area we have been to!

Breakfast_Adventurers
I order the Wagyu Beef Burger with lettuce, tomato, caramelised onion, red capsicum and melted cheese all on a brioche bun. Hail Mary full of grace this burger is bloody great! It wasn't just that the beef was tender, generous in amount and juicy but the fact that every component was balanced. The brioche providing the sweetness and the red capsicum providing the middle ground between the bun and beef. To serve chips in a basket is not unique these days. However what I like is that it was used to complement the beautiful hand cut chips not be the point of difference. Fd: 9/10 | Cf: 4/5 | Srv: 8/10 @fifteenpoundscafe

Food was average, tasted good, but it was lacking something. Most of the staff were quite rude/not as friendly as you’d expect when going to brunch on a Sunday mid morning. When we asked to be moved outside if she had space, we were told she is not in charge of seating today and will have to find out. All we needed to know was that she would check and come back to us. I didn’t need to be told she is not in charge of seating? When i requested a coffee with 1x sweetener (equal or similar) another waitress blatantly pointed at the sugar on the table.
Nigella
A little disappointed. Today’s smashed avo that I chose was tiny, very bland and expensive. 2 of the tiniest pieces of seed load with a smear of avo (no egg or sides) should not cost $20. Fifteen pounds used to be great value and quality. Still beautiful coffee though and service lovely.
IsFoodIsGood
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and you can get a table if you go at 10am on a Saturday!! Wide variety on the menu, quick service and you can split bills! Highly recommended.
Mary-mia Ioculano
Absolutely one of my favourite places in Fairfield. The food is very tasty and fresh and they have delicious fruit juices and yummy desert. Outstanding service and reasonable prices I recommend to go to there beautiful courtyard.
Chantelle McDonald
I ordered the apple waffles and came out with a nut crumble. This wasnt noted on the menu and I alerted the waitress. My meal was replaced and the girls were very attentive to my allergy. Staff were very friendly and accommodating ! Waffles were great :)
Happyley
Decent quality and consistent food. The beef short rib burger here is good and the coffee always hits the spot. Only area suffering is service as the staff don’t really listen. I’ve visited here several times and they ALWAYS mess up my order or I have to ask several times for my coffee. I will be back though.

Saturday morning breakfast for 2, predictably busy and we accepted that we'd have to wait but 50 minutes after ordering our food still hadn't arrived and we saw 2 couples sit opposite us, order, eat and leave. We asked our waiter if our meals were going to be much longer and he said "I have no control over that", I asked if he could find out for me and he said "As I just said I have no control over that we're busy". The male owner and another male waiter came over as we were seated right next to the kitchen where the food leaves from and they interjected and reiterated what the first person said. I mentioned that others had received their food despite arriving after us and had already left. We ended up waiting over an hour, no apology, no discount and no one checked to see if we were happy with the food which by the way was ordinary, all that with a couple of elbow knocks I received from the wait staff due to where I was seated and the activity around the pass (again no apology)...….. overall a pathetic attempt at customer service by this café, there are plenty of others around so we'll choose somewhere (anywhere) else next time.

The best breakfast cafe mushrooms you will ever have are those lovingly made at fifteen pounds. Do yourself a favour and order extra mushrooms!!! You guys rock 🙌🏻
Jams Jam
Definitely our go-to brunch spot close to home. Heaps of competition in the Northcote/Thornbury area but we keep coming back. The coffee is so good and the service is top notch and always consistent. We love sitting out the front with our dogs. Try the classic hash stack (with mushrooms and spinach), you wont be disappointed!

Edit - Love the classic hash stack but the Crispy Polenta is UNBELIEVABLE!
The Pet Roo
I'd have to say my expectations were high for this popular local cafe with its beautiful interior and lovely north facing aspect opposite beautful Fairfield station. I ordered the breakfast bowl and when it was plonked in front of me i immediately noticed it resembles more of a salad . No mention of salad leaves on the menu but it dominated the dish. Also could not taste the mint almond pesto. Anyhow i moved on and started digging for the other elements promised on the menu and they were all there being the zucchini ribbons, charred broccolini, brown rice, pickled purple cabbage and poached egg. My poached egg was semi runny but not enough yolk to coat my dish so i suggest 2 poached eggs and remove the salad, i do like salad leaves but not for breakfast!
Karl
Fifteen pounds never stops amazing me with the menu that changes regularly and never fails to please. I love this place for breakfast. The atmosphere , the staff , the food , the coffee it’s all spot on. As for the kitchen staff you rock.
You have inspired me with roasted Rhubarb pistachio coconut porridge, Mexican chilli eggs with black beans and fresh warm tortillas, and many other breakfast dishes from previous menus .. keep up the awesome work
Steph
Placed along the Fairfield station train line, this cafe is in an ideal location.
We visited on Sunday morning around 10am and were offered a table in the outdoor court yard. There aren’t too many tables inside.
Inside has a nice modern feel to it but in some spaces is very narrow and tight to get through especially when you walk in.
I would say the overall decor of the court yard was a bit of a let down and the surroundings weren’t very appealing.

The service was great and staff friendly. For food we ordered the breakfast board, Mexican scrambled eggs and the Roman.
The breakfast board was great value for money but I feel the jam that was included was a bit of a waste. I would have preferred a poached egg included instead to go with the avo.
Both the Roman and the Mexican scrambled eggs were also great.
The latte though wasn’t all the best but the hot chocolate again was great value for money. It came in a great big mug.

Would come back for brunch again but wouldn’t opt to sit outside.
Age'n'Tise
We were seated outside after we had requested an indoor seating when we booked. We were a little disappointed with our breaky. Scrambled eggs had no seasoning, eggs Benedict were very acidic tasting and the muesli was quite heavy. I was expecting more form one of the highest rated breakfast places on Zomato. Doubt I’d be back.
Ross Leo
Unfriendly service and very average food. They also charged me for a meal I didnt order. The staff weren't apologetic when they got my order wrong. After offering to replace it bought back the wrong order. I expected much better service from a place rated this highly.
Emzly
Absolutely awesome experience here!
The staff are very helpful and go above and beyond to satisfy and look after you.
The food is really nice and better than I can cook at home. I had the Cuban Benedict and my partner had baked eggs. Both dishes were great.
Thank you!

Went in and it was quiet inside yet took a long time for our table to cleared and even longer to be served, after that it took another twenty minutes or so to be asked what food we were ordering after our coffees came out. Food was over priced for portion sizes. Very average tasting food. One of our coffees was extremely bitter in comparison to the other one which was strange. Coffee was spilt all over the floor on neighbouring table and staff didn’t bother to clean it up. Overall, extremely average and not worth a visit.

Hidden in the side streets of Fairfield it’s places like Fifteen Pounds that make me love Melbourne. Great find.!! The simplicity that is their decor, to the fresh menu and welcoming service what’s not to like? Ordered beef burger and kfc burger. Both accompanied by what might be the best most crispy chips found! Burgers were delicious with some amazing buns. I can’t complain. Worth a try!
Foodie AC
High quality local cafe, really good coffee, excellent beef burger. Chips were exceptional. Calamari special tacos didn’t quite come together completely. Delicious doughnuts. And who can go past a Butterbing cookie? I can’t

If you’re like me and are an Instagram foodie of any type get to Fifteen Pounds and add their beetroot porridge to your Insta feed.
Firstly, the taste incredible and gets better and better with each mouthful. For those who are worried about it being a beetroot porridge I found the flavour of the beetroot was balanced perfect, it gave it a sweetness that wasn't too overpowering with beetroot.

The highlight would have to be the garnish, it was the “icing on top of the cake” It takes porridge to a whole new level and is something I wish other places took on board.

When you mix it all together with all the textures it creates a "wow" factor, something
This porridge is by far my favourite out of any porridge I've had at a cafe. I can't wait to try some other new foods off their menu.

What to order it with: if you’re a sweet tooth like me, go out with a bang and order a hot chocolate with it. It compliments the porridge perfect and provides a chocolate delicacy for all you chocolate lovers.

This dish, full of colourful and flavour will continue to feature on my Instagram page for many weeks to come.

Definitely a perfect combination moving into the cooler months.

Very friendly staff . Very helpful . We had Hash stack 2.0
Cuban bendict . Very tasty. The coffee was Campos coffee .. very good too ... one of the better cafes in Fairfield 👍🏽

What can I say Fifteen Pounds never fails and today was no exception. I am not normally a “sweet” breakfast person but today “figgy waffles” changed all that. Amazing golden buttermilk waffles with mascarpone, figs, candied walnuts, butterscotch sauce and fairy floss won me over. Finishing with a great Campos cafe latte from Jonty.
Jonty Thompson
I’ve had a lot of Mexican themed breakfasts in Melbourne but this one takes the cake. The tortillas were delicious and the scramble was dreamy. Get it with bacon! So good!
Petrmalapanis
Started the day with the most sensational explosion of flavours and textures for breakfast. The Bircher Muesli at Fifteen Pounds combined fresh strawberries and figs with sweet mango jelly cubes and crunchy ginger granola in the lightest way possible. Creamy and light coconut and lime foam and freeze dried strawberry crumbs added serious zest / cannot recommend this mouth orgasm enough !
Esther Reidy
Fifteen Pounds is the best cafe in Fairfield by far as their service, food and coffee is always above and beyond of that anywhere else! Today I tried the new Bircher muesli, which was healthy, filling and delicious. I can’t wait to try the rest of the new menu! I could not recommend this cafe more, 10/10 🤩🤩🤩

The menu is an absolutely stellar line up of Melbourne cafe staples and incredible new offerings, it was so hard to decide! I went with the crispy polenta and it definitely did not disappoint...the combination of beautifully golden polenta with roasted mushrooms, grilled asparagus, perfectly poached eggs and a truffle hollandaise was a well balanced mix of flavours and textures, a delicious mix of sweet, salty and overall umami flavours. Not only was my meal delicious, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, the coffee brilliant and the overall ambiance of the place made for such a lovely experience. Hats off guys!

Pleasant location close to shops and train station. Inviting, clean and modern interior without being overly swanky. Rear courtyard. GREAT menu and food! I skipped the coffee but it smelt good.

I know that if I want a good wholesome breakfast/meal in general I can definitely find it here.
No doubt the food is always on point and consistent.
My go to for brunch satisfaction. Being that melbourne has so many brunch venues, and not very many good ones this one is a real gem.
I urge you to try the perfectly balanced and fluffy pea pancake dish, with a soft centred ball of baby burrata, the Korean fried chicken and kimchi burger by far the tastiest burger I have ever eaten. For something sweet that is both perfectly nutritious and satisfying we had the beetroot porridge. The knowledgeable staff explained to us that the beetroot gives the porridge a natural sweetness that is completely from the beetroot, and a delicate earthy taste. Paired with some incredible vegan curd, just so well balanced!! they also explained it could be completely vegan! Genius.
I honestly cannot tell you how much I love all the dishes from this place. I have tried almost everything on the menu and look forward to all the new dishes to come!
Ps. The poached chicken and soba noodle salad rocks my socks. I want to give them 100/10

Get yourself there!
Tara
Overall not a great experience.

Food servings were generous size and reasonably priced but fairly average. Coffees were pretty tasteless.

Whilst staff were clearly busy, they took around 15 minutes to even take our order. We then ordered two coffees, the first of which came after 20 minutes, the second for some reason another 20 minutes after that. The people on the table next to us cancelled theirs after waiting a similarly long time.

Further, after bringing out the wrong meal we were offered a choice of snack for the inconvenience and only later realised we’d been charged for it.

We also sent back dirty cutlery that was served to us (not just a little bit, unusable).

The ambience inside wasn’t overly pleasant either, was extremely noisy to the point it was hard to concentrate on a conversation.

Would advise passing on this cafe.

Sophia
My dad is super fussy and didn’t believe he was a brunch kind of guy. He always chooses the venues which mostly consists of the same two places. He agreed to let me pick for my birthday.

I am happy to say he is now a brunch convert. Great feed, the staff were really polite and arranged for us to have the table outside. Really nice food, my dad tried each of our meals and brought up how good it was the following day. Poached eggs were cooked on point (no runny white). Please consider a larger bottle of sparkling water though, I drink it by the bucketload
AaronN
My sweet potato and quinoa fritters which were amazing, and probably would have earnt this place at least a 4 rating or above, but had to notch it down as the soba noodles my gf had were SO salty.
Jianierrrrrr
Picked this place to have brunch with my girlfriend which was conveniently located next to train station.

Serving Campos coffee beans which I didn’t taste much difference. My flat white was not too bad, neither too good.

On the menu, there were some interesting options such as sweet potato fritters, poke bowl, bbq jackfruit roll...
So we had:
#wagyu beef burger-housed smoked wagyu beef patty with L&T, cheese and caramelised onion and tomato relish on a charcoal bun. Adding the $4 dollar chips was a good option, nice thick cut chips with really crunchy texture. The burger itself was pretty good too with juicy and flavourful beef patty and soft toasted bun.
#special omelette-whipped pumpkin ricotta cheese, with chorizo sausage and chilli jam. The omelette was served with toasted sourdough bread and green leaves. Remember to ask butter for your toast. Omelette was set well, maybe a little bit softer would taste better? Anyway, the chilli jam added some sparks into the dish, and I would like to have more chorizo pieces in the omelette please~

Recent renovation looks great but I suspect a new owner. The food, coffee and menu was poor. Fifteen Pounds is my favorite cafe I frequent, yet the chicken burger used a stylish BLACK bread that is off putting and chicken that was flavorless, my mothers mushrooms were doused in balsamic vinegar that was inedible. The coffee was far too strong and bitter. I suspect it was a bad day as the hundred other visit has been nothing short of perfect for me and the many I bring, I will return once more to judge, if it improves, I will remove this review, but if my suspicion is true that there is a new owner, they need to pickup their game and stop misleading the public by using a hard earned name.

Just across the road from Fairfield station, cute little cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Almost walked past it as it doesn’t have a big sign outside.
Service was good, all staff had big smiles on their faces! heaps on the menu to choose from. Food was served promptly, we are seated and done within an hour! Not rushed in any way of course.
Will be back for more!

a cafe that you can regularly go to and not get tired of the
menu. Very friendly staff that are attentive and food that you won’t forget. Would highly recommend!

Fifteen Pounds | Northcote

I went out for the cutest brunch with a girlfriend today! We visited Fifteen Pounds in Northcote and boy it was AMAZING.

I ordered the Hash Stack which is some hash browns with poached eggs, mushrooms, spinach and I added half an avo. My friend ordered the Corn Fritters with poached eggs and a roquette salad.

The food was amazing and arrived quickly, the flavours were well balanced and the location was incredibly cute (There's even cute outdoor seating)

I would 100% visit again it was a 10/10 experience!

Delicious food. Good menu with perfect amount of variety. Set up was cute and calm with plenty of space. Our waitress was delightful! Will come back here 👌🏼

Cool pumping little place. Menu looked great and promised and in most part it delivered too. Matcha latte and turmeric lattes weren’t best examples of these but overall a solid 4/5. Definitely will keep this one in mind when heading this side again, you should too.

Im a regular here. the coffee is worthy of Melbourne.
Average prices and a very adequate menu options to please the masses. It took a while for service as we sat in the courtyard not much space for kids inside. always busy on weekend but great place to eat or coffee if you're around the station. only entrance is via the narrow front door.
Rebecca Fakhri
This place was super awesome! Loved their brekky board - really generous serving size and reasonably priced!

Coffee wasn't that great - they don't use a nice almond milk. My friend who got regular milk said it wasn't that good either. The consistency was not there.
Love the venue - really big! Will return to try some other items on the menu :) Beck Haley Laura Simionato

Had breakfast here a while ago. Loved my coffee! I quite enjoyed my meal, had one of their specials, toast with chickpeas and poached eggs. My partner wasn't a big fan of his japanese omelet though. I tried as well and thought it was a bit boring. Service was friendly but a bit slow (30 minutes for food to arrive when it was not busy). They have a huge outdoor area that I imagine it would be lovely to enjoy in summer. Would be back but not in a hurry.

Called to book a table and was told by the lady on the phone not to book and just walk in as it wasn't necessary. When we arrived 2 hours later there were no tables and we had to wait to be seated. 5mins after ordering the latte arrived. 20mins later I asked to add some haloumi to my order and enquired about the smoothie I had ordered. A further 15mins pass. There is now a side of cold haloumi (no breakfast) on our bench and a late. no smoothie or breakfast. I tell the waitress not to worry about the smoothie and 5 mins later the breakfast arrives to the bench and a smoothie that tastes only of cinnamon that I was now getting for free.. thanks. The barely warm Breakfast was not worth the wait especially since the side was delivered before the breakfast and had gone cold, .

Didn't book for a Sunday morning and got a table right away. Was asked 4 times from 4 different staff for our coffee order!...they are very attentive!

Hot cakes special was second to none. Fitters were lightly cold but very fresh and light. And the poaches eggs were 👌🏽

Got the fruity smash smoothie which was the perfect amount of sweetness.

Have visited Fifteen Pounds regularly over the past few weeks and have not been disappointed. First, for breakfast and then for coffee. Their porridge is beautiful and very filling and the café has been decorated beautifully. Had a bit of trouble getting refills of water and second round coffee but apart from that - great!
Margarita Pracatan
So confused- went there a few weeks ago and had one of the best mushroom breakfasts I've ever had but went back today and my partner and I had maybe some of the worst cafe food we've had in Melbourne. Fritters were stodgy and tasteless, the hollandaise similarly tasteless and watery, the miso spinach just tasted like unseasoned steamed spinach.. my partners japanese omelette was just strange. Haloumi and Japanese curry don't go together. The fried rice had the consistency of over cooked risotto and the spinach just didn't have a place on the plate. Ugh bad Melbourne priced brunches are such a let down.
Leo Hogan
My wife and I were in the area and happened upon Fifteen Pounds in our strolling, so stopped in for brunch. We were quickly found a table in the warm, covered courtyard and set about checking out their menu. From a good mix of standard fare as well as a number of interesting specialties, we chose between us a Soy Mocha, Ginger Ninja juice, Avocado and Broccoli on toast and the beef brisket. The service was efficient, friendly and helpful at all stages, the drinks were full of good flavours and the food was very tasty; they did alter one of our dishes to cater for dietary considerations. For the beef brisket, cracked pepper and an array of sauces were also presented as accompaniments. Although I did opt to use additional sauce, the base dish would also have been great by itself. We don't live within easy striking distance, but would happily return here when in the area again.

Good place to go for a drink or for breakfast or lunch. The coffee is good. Nice staff. Close to Fairfield station. You can sit inside or out.

I thought I would treat myself this morning by going out for some brunch. This place was recommended by Zomato so I though I would give it a go. 15 pounds is tucked away behind the Fairfield train station amongst lil boutique shops and other cafes. I was quite surprised by how many people were here for lunch already. Stunning low hanging lights an open court yard at the back so many options to chose from. Stunning menu mix of Eastern and Western cuisine/ingredients.

The coffee here is quite delectable. strong but smooth and leaves an nice taste. It also has a strong pleasant smell which is very noticable. Along with the coffee I decided to get the Bananarama Smoothie. As well as the banana the cinnamon is also a very strong and noticable flavour which was very tasty.

For brunch I ordered their Hash Stack with bacon and 1/2 avo. Runny poached eggs drenched in creamy holindase, sitting on a delicious house made hash brown. plenty of English spinach as well as seasoned mushrooms Im happy I grabbed the half avo because that was soft as butter.

My experience here was very enjoyable. Lovely staff and beautiful food and drinks :)

Came here on a Saturday morning and it was very busy. The brunch and coffee here is outstanding. Apart from the slow service (which was understandable at peak time) this place is a gem.

Amazing place for brunch , the coffee was great and the food was sooooo good . Service was friendly and atmosphere was so relaxing. Great work..

Best bacon and roll I have ever had and I have had many. They had so many very tempting bakery items in the window I will have to try next time. The cafe had a great atmosphere and very friendly staff
Charis The Vegetarian
Staff are really friendly here and the atmosphere is nice. We didn't eat, just had coffee. Not the best coffee unfortunately but still pretty good all round.
Johann
Your go to brunch place!
Yes, you will be served quality food in a quality atmosphere!
Sure, you might have to wait a little bit for a table during busy period!
Green Curry
Really can't ask for much ore than cafe. Breakfast is good and the lunch meal is just as good. You need to try the burger it's better than most places that specialise in burgers.
Stunsail
I always try and stop past this place whenever I'm in area - it's one of the very best cafes in the Fairfield/Northcote area. The atmosphere inside is light and airy, which reflects the wonderful paved garden area out back, and the staff are always ready with a friendly smile. Coffee is fantastic and all the foods I've tried here, from breakfast to burgers have been fantastic.

Very solid option in Fairfield. This is a nicely set out space that looked mighty warm and enticing on a cold May morn. The food was certainly good. I had eggs with bacon, avocado and tomato. It was tasty and hit the spot rather nicely. My colleague had the avocado smash, however called, which he found enjoyable. The coffee was lovely here too. There was a steady stream of customers coming in for breakfast or grabbing their morning coffee on the way to Fairfield station across the road. Service was good. We were served quickly and continually with food, coffee and the bill. A very enjoyable experience. I'll be back.

Went there for breakfast on Saturday. A place that is buzzing and has a wonderful cafe quirky atmosphere. The good was inventive and at the same time great marriage of flavours that couldn't be faulted. To those muffins, glazed rings and brownie slices that just call your name when you walk in. The service was great and friendly, prices reasonable and will definitely be back. Highly recommended

Came here on a fairly warm day & sat out in the courtyard. It was a pretty area, with lots of sunlight, but it gets pretty damn hot in there.

My friend and I ordered the Fifteen Bennie with a side of mushrooms and the corn fritters. They came out quite quickly and were delicious. Lots of flavor & decent portions. I would have stayed for another coffee, but I was sweating profusely by that point.

I came again & tried the chicken and pumpkin & the hash stack. They were also equally as delicious.

Located on a nice little side street next to the station, there's lots of parking & plenty of people to keep it occupied.

Have tried this place once before but it wasn't that great the first time so I thought it deserved a second chance . When you first look at the menu the pricing looks quite reasonable until you receive the Servings which was very small and to make things worse took 35 minutes to receive and the cafe was quite ??? Not only are you hungry waiting for your meal unfortunately you also leave hungry and ripped off. Service and coffee isn't the greatest .. won't be a third attempt I assure you.

Recently I am sick of brunch spots on the popular list as they are always over crowded. This time I picked up fifteen pounds which is close to Fairfield station. The court yard is quite nice for a sunny day. We had mushrooms which comes with 3 kinds of mushrooms and poached eggs on toast, probably my favourite mushroom breakkie dish! Their special scrambled eggs with chorizo is nice as well. Fresh Juice is another highlight. Although my BF turned into my ex after the meal, I still appreciate the nice dishes which did not make my life worse. Probably the best thing happened that day~

Fifteen Pounds is a lovely cafe situated just across from Fairfield train station. The cafe may appear small and humble on the outside with only very limited seating out the front and in the interior, but the large courtyard out the back shaded by a glorious lemon tree marks this vicinity as a hidden gem. On a lazy Monday public holiday we entered fifteen pounds, that was signing with customers enjoying there days off. We where greeted by a waiter who had us on stand by for when a table became available and within minutes we where seated in the majestic courtyard surround by trees wind chimes.

Menus where placed on the old wooden table and we where left to tease our tastebuds exploring the lengthy and adventures meal options. After a long wait we where finally tended to ordering the coconut bircher muesli and an item featured on the specials board being the prawn and chorizo scrambled eggs along with a long black. The long black arrived after a lengthy 10 minutes and to be honest was not worth it at all. The brew was watery and bitter with a lack of acidic textures.

After seeing dishes fly out the kitchen in a timely fashion staff seemed to be very confused as with where each dish was to end up, as on numerous occasions dishes arrived at tables which where not ordered.

A total of 40 minutes pasted and we finally received our food but the deed was still not done. The coconut bircher muesli was requested vegan meaning that a side of non dairy yoghurt was exchange for the raspberry cream. When questioning the absence of yoghurt the waiter some what grunted and minutes later returned with the dish of yoghurt. The coconut bircher muesli composed of coca popcorn, pumpkin seeds, coconut, orange, fresh berries and lemon balm was a mighty let down. Firstly, there was no coca evident in the popcorn nor was there any aroma of physical sign of orange. The bircher itself was watery but once adding the non dairy yoghurt the dish was merely improved. The lack of berries was pitiful and the only element adding a palatable aspect was the presence of crunchy pumpkin seeds. No element of the meal tied together overall crafting for a very average dish.

Fortunately the prawn and chorizo scrabbled eggs served on Dench toast with grilled prawns, Artisan chorizo, spiced prawn basque foam and fresh chives was an utterly delicious flawless dish. The toasts crust was nice and crunchy with the centre being soft and fluffy soaking up the ever so flavoursome spicy prawn basque. The prawns where succulent and the scrambled eggs where gooey and creamy. The shear size of the dish was also impressive but the amount of fishy flavour packed into the hero basque left this dish superior to others.

Fifteen Pounds has the potential to deliver great food although they could vastly improve on there service and quality of coffee. The menu is creative and reasonably priced but choose wisely as some dishes may sound appealing but upon tasting are a major let down.

Exceptional as always!!!!! I ordered the harsh potato stack with a side of bacon, which was delicious beyond belief. It was cooked to perfection, was plentiful and the flavours sublime. I can thoroughly recommend this meal. Staff attentive but not intrusive.

Had breakfast here with three people on a Sunday. It was quite busy, but the place is quite big so there were plenty of tables left. We had a nice breezy spot out the back.
One of us ordered a ham/cheese/tomato toastie, which wasn't on the menu, but that was no problem. My boyfriend and I shared the Hash Stack and a special which was a wrap with veggies and haloumi. I liked the wrap better, my boyfriend liked the hash stack better. Both dishes were pretty good. Service was good too.
I am not sure if I would go back, I didn't think the menu was very exciting, but I don't have anything negative to say so it seems fair to give them a 4!

I used to come to fifteen pounds quite often a few years ago but haven't been coming since then due to life. I recently had brunch with my family and boy I must say the food tasted even better than from how I remembered it!!! And the coffee was superrrr!!
The staff are absolutely friendly too
Keep up the great work!

Food here is absolutely Devine, very current and keeping up with the trends (and outdoing the trends too). An Amazing selection of coffee and staff here and very friendly! Seriously, the place is the best cafe in Fairfield!

My go to breakfast / lunch joint in the inner north. Spectacular food every time without fail. Service is always great too. As a totally spoiled coffee snob I'd rate coffee as 8/10 - really good, but not exceptional. Doesn't stop me returning on a regular basis for brunch as the overall package is awesome.

Easily the best breakfast I've had out in a long time. I can't go past the Hash Stack each time. Such a big portion too and reasonably priced. Coffee is great, had the single origin Colombian last time. Service is friendly and attentive and I love the little courtyard. Yep, this is my new regular hang for sure. Love it.

Fifteen Pounds was a really pleasant place for lunch with friends. There is indoor and outdoor eating areas - so you have food choices depending on the weather. The decor incorporates up cycled pallets and has a good feel. Our orders were taken promptly and the food was well well presented. We all enjoyed our meals. Recommended location for a casual lunch.

What: A lesson for me to never order a latte on an upset stomach (hah, who am I kidding – I’ll never learn). Bloat score: 1 – Had to loosen my belt a notch. Me: Should I order an almond latte? I feel kind of sick from last night’s dinner, but I need coffee.Partner: No.Me: You’re right. We need to go grocery shopping after anyway.Waiter who comes around that very second: Can I start you guys off with any drinks?Me: YES PLEASE. One almond latte, please – thank you.Partner: *Rolls eyes in resigned indignation*

Great service and awesome food. Came with 20 mins to eat and had food within 5 minutes of ordering. Smiles from every staff member. Fantastic. Will came back.

Visited here several times with friends, great place to hand out with good food.

Love the fresh juice, the mint basil made me feel body cleansed after all, very refreshing.

Hash Stack is my all time favourite, good portion to make me full, love the mushroom and spinach.

I can't count the amount of times we have been here. 50+ for coffee. At least 20+ for food. The quality of food and coffee is fantastic. We must have had half the menu and it always hits the spot. The house made hashbrowns are particularly good. The fish curry is divine. I just wish they wouldn't hang onto yesterdays muffins - you can taste when muffins are a day old. Mr Wednesday always hands out its muffins at the end of the day and it's reassuring as you know when you order a muffin it is freshly baked.

The staff are so friendly and the owner is consistently accommodating and patient. It's hard to land an inside table during busy periods and you can often find yourself in the courtyard which lacks the same atmosphere as the inside. Some music, comfy chairs & less clutter/boxes would make a massive difference. A bathroom reno wouldn't go astray either (hold on til you get home ;)

The hype for this place hadn't died off and it's easy to see why. Friendly staff, good food and coffee and a lovely ambience keep people like me coming back over and over again. Thanks guys!

Its a nice little place just across the road from the station with a little menu. My first concern was that the menu didn't offer a whole lot of variety or options. However the couple of dishes we ordered were all really good. The chicken burger worked marvellously with the jalapenos and lime/chilli dressing. The chilli pork burger also had a nice variety of flavours. all in all it was a good experience and I will be back again at some stage

Great food with exceptional customer service from friendly staff. Real quality meals from the seasonal menu. I have quickly become a regular. Great outdoor space at the back. Coffee never disappoints!

We were 30 minutes early for a meeting near by, so decided stop by for a quick breakky, We were very surprised. Large inside and outside sitting areas, perfect egg and bacon bun, especially the coffee 8.5 of 10 in my preference. Love it.

I've been to this café a lot as I work in Fairfield and it's pretty good. The food's usually nice, coffee is good, atmosphere and staff are great.
However, from chats with staff, I have discovered that the owner's treat them poorly. No staff members have divulged this outwardly, but it's something I've pieced together from several conversations.
When I've asked staff for their recommendations, they can barely offer one- Because they don't get fed! If they want to eat, they have to buy their meals (at a discounted price) or bring a packed lunch.
I've discovered that they don't get paid much or penalty rates on weekends or even Boxing Day!
And they often seem nervous about stopping and chatting to customers for too long due to getting in trouble. AND one day I asked where the tips go to- They go to the owner. To cover breakages and contribute to the Christmas party.
I am appalled. Having worked in hospitality for 7 years myself, I know how much of a raw deal hospo workers get- High stress, low pay, etc. But at least that's usually made up for being fed and developing a nice rapport with customers, maybe getting some tips, etc.
And when a customer tips, they think it goes towards the staff- Not the owner! It's misleading and immoral.
The owners need to realise that not only is taking care of their staff the right thing to do, but it's the best thing to do for business. People can tell when the waitress is well-fed, and knows the menu so well due to having been fed items from it, feels valued, etc, it comes through in their conversations and their work.
Luckily some other Cafes have opened up around the corner, cos I won't be supporting this business any longer.

Dont waste your money or daily calorie intake on the crab taco. Worst i have ever had. Consisted of very small wrap rolled and cut into 4 pieces. The tiniest amount of crab meat which mostly consisted on inedible head and legs...won't be going back here again.

We just happened to find this place as this is UAT next to the station.

Staff are friendly and the place has a friendly feeling. But the biggest sue we saw here was cleanliness. The tea pots and cups had dried tea drops still present after it has been washed. That was a total turn off.

We ordered a burger and a soft crab taco. Both were just ok and lesser than mediocre taste. And we felt it was quite pricey for the amount and the taste.

This cafe has a great menu & the food was very flavoursome. I had the ricotta and raspberry hotcake which was presently beautifully and accompanied by orange curd, white mousse, popping maderins and puffed quinoa. I really liked this dish as it was different and there was a good balance of sweetness and acidity. My brother had a braised lamb roll which he throughly enjoyed. My dad had the smashed avocado which was nicely paired with poached eggs, prosciutto & pesto.
My only criticism of this cafe is that it takes a while to get served and given the meals. I unfortunately had to wait an extra 10 mins after the other meals arrived. But overall the cafe has great food and I would definitely come back.

Great place for breakfast. A local favourite. They coffee is good and great food. The staff are so helpful and friendly. They cater to every need with a smile. On a sunny day, it's nice to sit out in the back courtyard. The only downside is that it is so good, it can sometimes be too popular, and therefore very busy.
Ross Crisp
Its very good. Great coffee. They have a marinated Asian chicken salad that is good. The brioche buns with lamb/beef/chicken and their "homemade" chips are good. Service is excellent.

Great spot with fab feel and friendly staff. Had a group breakky here and there were no complaints! Loved the breakfast board idea so you can have a little taste of everything and the build your own breakky was also tasty, if a bit pricey. Was busy on a Saturday but easy enough to get a table. Great for a solid breakfast but not particularly a 'destination' spot!
Melbourne Foodie
I liked this place, the food was above average and the atmosphere pretty chilled. There were a few of the mummies in Lycra etc... but all in all a warm and welcoming gig. I had a funky pancake thing with popping stuff like some sort of science experiment think Heston B!

What a great place, the decor, the atmosphere, the food and of course the coffee. I had the Wagyu burger, my wife had the Roman salad. Both were great.
There is an outdoor area at the back which we will book for our next family breakfast.
One of my favourite cafés in Fairfield. The staff are always welcoming, great service, delicious food and the coffee is awesome! If you're in the area peeps, this is a must stop for YOU! 😀

Decided to try out this cafe as we were in the area. I had a watermelon and pineapple juice which was very refreshing, but quite expensive for what it was (from memory $7 for a large, which wasn't very large at all). I tried the Mexican eggs - very flavoursome and hearty, which was perfect for the cold morning! The fit out of the shop is very hipster and cool. Staff were friendly, although it took a while to be seated as the staff were too busy running around and didn't notice us.

My friends and I were in the area for the Escape Room nearby when we decided to try this cafe out. This cafe was very open and spacious so the four of us had no trouble finding a place to sit. It was also quite busy at the time (around 1:30PM on a Saturday).

I ordered a Cappuccino and the Hash Stack. The Cappuccino was rather nice and I didn't feel the need to add sugar to it. We did have to wait a while for our foods to arrive (about 20 minutes). The Hash Stack was looked small at first but it was deceiving. The mushrooms were amazing and the house made hash browns were definitely unique. There were finely chopped spring onions (from memory) in the hash stack and there were really filling. I had trouble finishing it, so I had to give some to my partner. As they were quite thick, only the outer bit was crunchy. I do understand that these are hash stacks and not hash browns, but I do prefer hash browns over this due to the overall crunchiness of it.

In summary, if I'm ever in the area I wouldn't mind trying this place out again. They do seem to have a varied and extensive menu so there's definitely lots of other things that I would try from the menu.

today on a sunday afternoon 1 pm: order. 1.20: 2 kids meals delivered. 1.45: asked waiter if bulk of our order was going to arrive and when as i needed to leave at 2. 1.50: told by waiter that it was our fault as we should've told them i had to leave as burger would take 20 minutes, and mexican baked eggs also took a little longer. no apology. 1.55: food arrives with a mumbled comment about kitchen problem. 2.05 I exit, having bolted said lunch down, risking indigestion. Is it reasonable to expect our order to arrive within 30 or even 40 minutes. And what happened to the hospitality maxim ' the customer is always right'? I know, first world problem. And no real offer of recompense.

This place can be hit and miss. Haven't been here in a while but used to frequent every Sunday for brunch. The coffee is great! The owner sometimes brings free coffee to Fairfield station in week days which is awesome. The breakfast board is my favourite. Too much lemon in the avocado feta smash sometimes though. I get that it keeps it from going brown but smash it fresh to avoid this. It would be great to be able to order bacon and eggs as a dish as the menus doesn't have this you have to get every thing as an extra. Sometimes people just want simple food. The staff are consistently friendly. The court yard is very cute. The cakes and muffins are delicious.
