Lovely place! The food was stock standard nice Greek food but I would return again and again for the lovely staff and owners. Great selection of local spirits, wines and beers on offer too! I would highly recommend this place and the gyros platter option 2 on the specials list!
The saganaki was mouth-watering and the lamb cutlets (and potato that came with it) were also delicious. My dining partner had the rissoles which were good, but not great.
The service was friendly, but we saw a tray of shots (some kind of red liquid??) being offered to practically everyone in the place but us. We didn't want them anyway, but it seemed a bit strange to be left out.
Overall though, a very enjoyable evening

Pretty average Greek cuisine. I was really hoping for a great experience post renovation and new management but it just didn’t deliver. Food was so/so outdated Greek food. Presentation was slapped together on a plate and dips platter was pre prepped and refrigerated, which I find strange considering it could be plated in a minute. Meats were marinated nicely and moist. Seafood was very underwhelming. Thrown on a grill thrown on a plate.
Overall the place isn’t terrible but definitely needs work. I came here as I was told an old friend had taken over and was disappointed when I saw that wasn’t the case
EDIT: I have re visited the restaurant and let me tell you. I was mistaken. It must have been teething issues at first because everything from service to food this time around was tip top. Well done. The only thing I can flaw is that the dip platters are pre made. On the spot will work much better for the customer ❤️

Great food with sizeable portions. We had the set menu for $55, and had a mix of meats (lamb, pork, beef, and chicken), veggies, dips and dessert. There was so much food we had to take it home afterwards. However it’s not a good place for conversation as they play loud music inside.
Food was so good! We had the meat platter for two which was more than enough. There was also so many meal options available- I recommend ordering lots of different small dishes and sharing. The service was slow, however the staff were really friendly. Will be back.
Went for dinner on a Saturday night at about 6:30pm with my partner. I had the chicken skewers meal and my partner had a lamb dish. The plates were huge we both struggled to get through them! Everything was amazing just as the majority of the past reviews have said. My chicken was moist and flavoursome and the food came pretty quick too after ordering, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere too once it filled up. The only thing I didn’t like was all the smokers out the front on the footpath sitting down and smoking underneath the awning which I thought had now been banned in Vic?
Heavenly food. Have had vegetarian and seafood here and both were incredible. A must have for everyone is the lemon potatoes as they make your taste buds do a tap dance. The staff are consistently wonderful

Visited Trapezi last night with my uncle after walking past hundreds of times. We ordered the lamb skewers and the seafood giovetsi. Both were beautiful. Lamb was tender, dip and bread delicious and a nice salad as well. The seafood giovetsi was a standout. Good selection fo seafood, nice plump scallops, prawns and mussels and octopus. Will definitely be a new local. Looking forward to goign back for more!

Fantastic new menu. Chose 3 plates to share and all 3 were UNBELIEVABLY good. Great food, friendly owners and a happy relaxed atmosphere. Just a great experience all round.
Veryyyyy slow service to begin with, waited 20minutes to get glasses for our wine, and I had to go and get our menus for the table... Sadly there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant at that stage... Food was nice, but very small portions for a banquet, most the staff were very friendly and happy accommodate any requests made. I wouldn't say that I disliked my experience here, and I would probably recommend this venue for the smaller eater, or someone who has had a big lunch like I had:)
FAULTLESS! The restaurant is quaint with the aroma of Greek goodness sizzling from the kitchen. A huge and delicious selection of food on the menu makes it hard to not want to order a bit of everything! We ended up starting off with some calamari, saganaki and the capsicum & feta dip with yummy Greek bread slices! All three were almost inhaled with the first bite. For mains we ordered the meat platters of chicken and lamb and of course the seafood platter! One word... AMAZING!!!!!! The staff are lovely and very accommodating. Definitely will be back here!
If you want to experience a true authentic Greek feast you need to visit this place. I've been to many a Greek restaurant and I've also been to the country and this is as close as you will get to experiencing their true flavours. The food is absolutely delicious, from experience we paced ourselves initially ordering saganaki, the capsicum & feta dip and calamari...we loved all the fresh flavours that dip was to die for! The calamari was so very tender my 6 toothed toddler dug in without an issue!
We then continued our meal with the baked lamb, the fish platter and the chicken skewers...whilst bursting at the seams we couldn't stop eating! The meals come with lemonata potatoes delicious!!
Will be visiting this place again, the staff are very friendly, we could not fault this place at all it's fantastic

had not read reviews as we were movig house and just needed to get a local meal. our expectations were not high but were significantly exceeded. A lovely welcoming family atmosphere, superb service and tasty, succulent authentic Greek food. Best Greek meal we have had in Melbourne. will definately be going back now that we are in the neighbourhood.
Coming from a Greek background, I don't believe anyone can cook like my grandparents or even compare to the food in Greece, so I steer away from Greek restaurants.

I left walking like a little piggy. The food is delish and rich. It's a bustling Greek gem that fills you full off goodness. Our young waitress was ho hum more interested in what she looked like and the staff member she was clearly dating, but that aside a good feed.

I love this place. Decided to dine at Trapezi last week and invited a few friends along.
In short:
1) The place is ideal for families with kids as the management and staff went out of their way to accommodate the kids in every way possible.
2) The kalamari was phenomenal
3) The dips are the best in Melbourne by far
4) the meat platters were overflowing and delishes
5) the food in general was superb.
6) the Greek doughnuts (loukoumathes) are deadly delishes.
By far the most relaxed and best restaurant in Melbourne to dine for families, groups and individuals alike.
Tip: if you laugh at the proprietors ( George's ) jokes and banter , rest assured you are likely to get a drink or two on the house.

The best Greek food!. My family and I dined at Trapezi for my mother's 60th birthday and we were pleasantly surprised by the owners generosity and friendliness. Given that we were a large group, we had the options of banquets and alla carte. There was plenty of variety on the menu with reasonable prices. We opted for the Greek seafood and meat banquet as we thought it was value for money. We were not disappointed. The portions were generous and flavoursome. We were happy with our choice of venue and food. Thanks Trapezi for a memorable night.
I can't give a negative comment in regard to service. Quick, friendly and met our needs. The food was nice and reasonably priced. Happy to go again and highly recommended
Went to Trapezi for dinner with my wife we both loved it ,the service was great and the food was awesome. Recommend is the platter of skewered meats and the doughnuts for desert. Which ever way you look at it,the price was reasonable and the atmosphere was typical bustling Greek style. We would visit again no worries however be prepared not to be hungry for the next day, you will roll home!.
Had dinner here a few weeks back and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service is attentive and friendly and the food a cut above, but like most Greek restaurants a tad overpriced. Despite this Traoezi comes highly recommended and worthy of your hard earned.

Great Greek fare. Think this might be our fave Greek spot. We usually get some starters like saganaki, pickled octopus and tarama dip. Then we get the meat platter to share. The meat platters are huge and are quite generous so just going for the meat platter for one to share between two is fine. Especially when you've had starters. The loukoumades are great although the baklava is a little disappointing. Good Greek fare with good service

The food is always delicious and delivered promptly to our table, the ambience is great and the manager/owner is super friendly.
You need to try their feta with honey, or even their chili feta (ANY feta!). Their mixed grill is amazing and their goat stew as well (not sure if it's still on the menu though).
This is our favourite meeting place for dinner, wine and chats!

Favorite was the fetta cheese encased in filo with a drizzle of honey....also loved the zucchini fritters and the dips with hot pitta bread. We will be back for more.
GREEK FOR A GREEK. I have eaten at many greek restaurants in Australia and by far this tops the list. Food is fresh, tasty and not oily or overcooked. At times, it's better than my greek mama's cooking and choose it over all other greek restaurants in Melbourne. In expensive too and sooooo tasty!!
Literally everything here is delicious. We had the tastiest food, and still kept getting jealous every time a waiter walked past with somebody else's plate because everything looks and smells amazing. Do yourself a favour and try the fetta saganaki in pastry with honey and sesame seeds- yum!
Yum! Food was divine, service very attentive - table was wiped down between courses, bottled water brought out when we ran out without having to be asked, new cutlery etc. we shared several dishes between 5 which cost us $20/head and we were satisfied. Mixed grill was delicious as was the calamari.
Best meal I've had in ages. We had a family dinner there and the food was absolutely delicious. Terrific dips, wonderful meat platter and calamari. The lemony potatoes are perfect too. Highly recommended!
A Mediterranean taste. If you are looking for a place to get your money's worth then this is the place to be. The food is absolutely amazing and EVERYTHING is served in a great amount. Constant service is available with a smile. Every night has been great. Fridays are a bit more special though because they bring in a band and its full of surprises including dancing and smashing plates :). If you choose to go on a Friday night I advice that you reserve a table. I've been in Australia for just over a year and it reminds me a lot of the European culture I left back home.
Best food, best people, best atmosphere. I am a regular at Trapezi and I am never disappointed. All the food is fantastic, my favourite is the saganaki prawns... and the beef giovetsi.... and the seafood giovetsi... and the lamb skewers... and well pretty much everything. I recommend trying out the specials as they are al particularly delicious.
One thing I particularly love about the place is the atmosphere, for once there is a place where the staff is always smiling and paying attention to you. The owner George is a friend to every person who walk in the door.
I recommend everyone tries out dining out at Trapezi. If you want to see some typical greek culture come on a Friday night... Friday nights have lots of food, live music, dancing on tables and plate smashing if your lucky. Hope to see you there :)

Didn't Disappoint. Been wanting to try this joint for a while now...on a cold, raining, winters night this definately hit the spot, the service was attenetive and every dish we ordered was fantastic.
Yes, compared to more traditional Greek Tavern style places, the dishes are smaller, however we didn't leave wanting.

Amazing Greek food!. We started going to Trapezi in 2009 and have become regulars (a little TOO regular!). The owners and especially staff are always very happy to see you and the service is relaxed and professional. The food is consistently amazing! Food is always out in quick time, some busy Saturdays you may wait 30 minutes if the restaurant is packed. Which in our opinion is pretty damn quick when the restaurant is pumping.
Trapezi's home made dips are an essential, their tzatziki and tarama are the best we have had, and their house made tartare sauce served with the calamari entree is exceptional.
Their banquets are great value, and showcase a lot of food, pretty standard Greek fare such as whitebait, dolmades, variation of meats, pickled octopus, dips and desserts and coffee at the end.
Meals are a very generous size, and the mixed grill is my personal favourite, specials board also showcasing snapper and goat as of the most recent visit.
All in all, a great atmosphere, friendly staff, fantastic food, our regular and possibly the greatest food I've eaten in all of the Northern suburbs.
Go on a Friday night for a great night of music (plus a bit of dancing and plate throwing)

Enjoyable. Trapezi was a late choice for a birthday dinner for just two. [Book earlier in the week to avoid disappointment with the table you are given]
We ordered the fried calamari and a filo wrapped fetta spanakopita for entree. The filo was delicious, creamy not too sharp feta wrapped in layers of filo drizzled with honey and sesame seeds. Highly recommend. [Always read the specials board, you never know what you might find]
They forgot about the calamari, after twice trying to take our entree settings away, they checked with the kitchen and then it arrived. It was decent but not knock me out calamari.
Main of a mixed grill for two arrived with the calamari meaning there was no room for all of the plates and food etc. We were trying to finish calamari in a rush so we could start on the main course.
Main course was lovely, I could not fault the massive plate of mixed meat grill, kofti, lamb skewers, pork belly, pork ribs, chicken skewers, greek sausage, chicken pieces, bread and tzatziki were all delicious and very filling. The side salad order of beetroot, drizzled in lemon and olive oil with rhubarb was also a hit.
For dessert we ordered the sweets platter, loukoumades, baklava and Galactoboureko. The Baklava wasn't the nicest I have ever had, a little too drunk on the syrup and the nuts were too chunky.
Overall, a nice meal, terrible seating and average service. They were very busy and gave all their attention to the bigger tables, although were very apologetic for the mix up with the entree arriving with the main course.
[Trapezi, you could have just asked us if we still wanted the calamari, as our main course was ready, then we could have made a decision!] Trapezi, like most greek places, is not ideal for an intimate dinner, more suited to a big table of loud and happy people up for a decadent night of food and drink.
Lastly, I left my mobile phone on the table and the wait staff saw this quickly as we finishing the bill. Kudos.

High quality Greek cuisine. Not the cheapest option going around but the staff are very attentive and the feel of the restaurant is bright, warm and authentic. The pita is a real highlight. Try the mixed dips.

As a general rule, I fill up on the homemade dips and bread, have a few things off the special board and some seafood off the menu and roll out of the place so happily full!

Confusion reigned, BUT food.... Confusion reigned - Its interesting that the Greeks gave us the word 'chaos'. BUT food was tender and yummy.. We ended up ordering two serves of the saganaki and had the desert platter which had a fantastic selection. Also the house wine was good value.
Always Perfect. Have dined at Trapezi many times, everything from the entrées through to the banquets have always always, been cooked to perfection. Not at all expensive, not cheap, great value given the quality of the food & service from the friendly staff & owner. 10 out of 10.
Very nice food particularly the lamb, service was very friendly and they even had a couple of kids helping out by bringing out bottles of water to the tables - which was a nice touch considering it was fathers day.

Oh wow did we get our $$$ worth!!!
The food here is consistently flavoursome! The lamb was freaking tasty then the squid and octopus.... yep yep yep taste buds happy again!
The banquet options are such good value but either way in this extensive menu you can't really lose! Go here... eat a plenty... waddle home.... smile... this food coma is one of the joys left in life... of not eat til you're conservatively full and also wander home with a smile on your face. The staff are helpful and attentive. The kitchen know their stuff and obviously take pride. This place brought me joy!

Not only was the food delish - we got the second banquet at a very reasonable price with plenty of food but the service was 10/10. The gentleman that served us was fantastic! Attentive and very helpful. Couldn’t be happier and will be returning

I finally had a chance to try some traditional Greek food from Trapezi. It was absolutely amazing. The dips, calamari and lamb ribs were some of my favourites. Thank you to all the friendly staff and Lucky for making it a great experience. If you do go make sure try some of their infused vodka as well!
Awesome tasting food. The Lamb and Calamari were perfect. Salads could be improved.
Also zoning your table staff would also be great, getting ask if we're ready by each of the 4 staff members was a little much. They were friendly and pleasant though!
This Greek joint got soul and bold, our meat and seafood platters were just irresistible good, none left on those plates.
And if you are impressed, there's a wall to wall photo of Santorini in electric blue and white hue, reminisence of the Mediterranean sea.
