I went here for breakfast and i was not disappointed! The menu was refreshingly unique and varied. I ordered the breakfast gnocchi and it was delicious. My only criticism is that the serving sizes are on the smaller side, yet the meals are quite expensive. That said, the food is of high quality and i'll be back again.
Always have a great experience at Hoppa! Great food, relaxed cafe & very dog friendly in their outdoor seating area. Staff are very pleasant too.

Came in here on a Tuesday with some friends and had such a great time at Hoppa and Joe! The food was amazing I had the duck Benny, something I have never tried before and I’m glad I did because it was fantastic! The coffee was perfect and the service was so friendly these guys really make you feel part of the family. Will return.
Fantastic uncomplicated food, executed exceptionally well. Had the Bruschetta eggs and an earl grey tea; healthy and very fresh. Outstanding, friendly and attentive service; water was replenished multiple times, outdoor umbrella opened to block out sun and offered sunscreen.
Absolutely adore this local cafe. We were thrilled to see something so gorgeous open up in Fairfield back in 2016, and have been frequent visitors since. The service is impeccable, they even give out doggie biscuits! Coffees are on the stronger side, but I don’t mind that at all. The duck Benny and chicken burger are the must try at hoppa! Keep it classy x
The best pumpkin bread I have ever tasted! There is something really calming about the setting of this cafe. Sitting outside on a quiet side street with provided blankets just adds to the H&J experience. The staff were chilled and friendly. They have raw treats so I’ll definitely be back for coffee and a healthy slice soon!
Spent the beautiful Melbourne Sunday at this cafe on my way back from the city. Staff was friendly and most customers seems to be local regulars. I ordered a cheese burger with ice coffee but they ran out of burger buns so the manager/owner offered to change it to sour dough bread instead. The patty of the burger was slightly on the dry side, but the overall combination of the sauce, vegetables and pickles was quite pleasant (perhaps even better had it being with the burger buns). The ice coffee I thought was really good value for money being only $4.50 for quite a descent serving. The cafe had both indoor and outdoor area with big windows and a clean refreshing (mix of blue) kind of ambiance.
When I went to settle the bill, the owner took off the cost of the ice coffee as a friendly gesture for not having the burger buns.
Will be back to try their other stuff next time.
This was the best brunch I’ve had in Melbourne! The food was so delicious that I’m determined to keep going back so I can try everything on the menu. The setting and atmosphere is also beautiful, the staff are lovely and friendly and provided great service. This is my new favourite cafe!

This cafe had a nice open out door area and inside was also quite spatious. Love this new addition to our area.. will most definitely return to try some other items on the menu :)

Yummy breakfast - smashed Peas, goats cheese, two poached eggs with prosciutto on the most amazing pumpkin bread! Also had an iced coffee with soy milk - yum yum yum! Have been wanting to eat here for ages, so glad I finally did and excited to taste more of the yummy menu. Great little place with a great vibe. Big fan.
It is a popular cafe with the locals. It is a small place so it looks packed all the time. It can get really noisy, partly due to the traffic that runs past the cafe. Not a place if you are after a quiet place to read the paper and enjoy your coffee. Service is good. Food and coffee is ok but on the pricey side.
The best coffee i have ever had!!! the food options are great!! my favourate dish is the smashed peas, the pumpkin bread is a great subsitute to normal bread and is so delicious!! staff are always very friendly and welcoming very relaxed cool vibe.

Absolutely perfect little cafe - the menu is so well thought out, everything we had was delicious! Baked eggs with cheesy cauliflower and a chorizo crumb, and the pumpkin bread with shitaki mushrooms were SO good! Coffee spot on as well.

Lovely bright, clean cafe not overly big inside, similar amount of seating outside with heaters 😊 we had already checked the menu on Zomato before heading to Hoppa & Joe, but on arrival we found a few items were no longer present 😌 Having said that we thoroughly enjoyed our choices & the coffee was extremely enjoyable, cap, cold brew & mocha. Very pleasant staff, very little waiting time for the food. The toasties & baked eggs looked very inviting, I feel a return visit is on the cards 😁.

One of the best in the area. Coffee is consistently delicious and clean and food is always flavourful, well presented and uses fresh and high quality produce. My favourite is the buttered shiitake mushrooms. Run by a crew who understand cafe culture and are seasoned hospitality pros. Visited here with girlfriends a few weeks ago and left satisfied. Unfortunately the menu I had last seen had more in the way of salad items (such as a breakfast salad) but on arrival they weren't there. Nevermind, because the breakfast dish I had was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately due to the Christmas Holiday I passed on the store bought gf bread (they normally have Black Ruby but they were still closed). I thought it was unreal service to be told about the bread rather than it just being sent out. The juice was lovely, and hte staff were super nice. I wasn't wowed - but would definitely return.
Our favourite breakfast/lunch spot. Especially love the chicken burger with the buttermilk batter. Menu is fresh and flavourful and meals are made with love.
Stopped in quickly on the way home from walking the dog to get a coffee and some takeaway sandwiches. What can I say but super tasty sandos that held up pretty well on the travel home! Staff were really lovely came out to have a chat and pats with the dog. Will be back for sure! Keep it up guys!
Great friendly staff. I'm a vego who works nearby so I've poped in looking for a quick lunch on the run and they are always happy to make a quick vego option if nothing fits the bill on the menu.

Hoppa & Joe is a really small little cafe on Heidelberg road. It's a nice little intimate place with some really good food. They also sell a few sweets (home made biscuits, Lamington ext) which are amazing. If in the area I would recommend popping in for a coffe and a sweet

Went Saturday for brunch - lovely little corner cafe. It is an very small cafe so we did end up waiting about 10 -15 mins for a table for 4 people.
The manager or owner was extremely friendly and came over and gave us some recommendations and had a quick chat with us.
I ordered the peanut butter parfait and oh my gosh it was delicious with a side of scrambled eggs. I was still hungry after though so I did share a duck Benny with my partner and we scoffed it down like no tomorrow!! Another highly recommended dish on the menu. Worth a visit if you're in the area 😆
I have to say, the current abundance of quality burger joints in Melbourne really warms my heart.

Yes, this is as good as it gets. beefy, juicy, greasy, with a perfectly brown crust from the hot griddle, this is close to burger perfection as it gets.

I had a really fantastic shitake mushroom, kale, eggs and pumpkin bread breakfast here last Saturday! I had never had pumpkin bread before. It was really great. The other 3 people that I brunched with all loved their food also. Unfortunately the Rueben was sold out by the time we got there at 9.30am. Next time!! Great service. Great coffee. Really friendly staff. I plan to work my way through the menu over the coming months 😜
The first and most important thing to say about this cafe is that the food is amazing! There were four dishes I was split between ordering. Went with the Sticky Pork Belly and certainly wasn't disappointed! I will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes.
They have good coffee which is a must for a cafe. And the staff are very friendly.
The venue is very small, but has a good interior which could make for a great vibe. The only two things that let this cafe down for me is that it is right on a major road, and that it was full of children while I was there. This of course is a personal preference and is really good for families. It's just more obvious when in such a small space.
This place catches my eye every time I drive down Heidelberg road. Finally went in for breakfast the other day and it was a pretty pleasant experience. The coffee was great, thank you attentive barista, and the food, after a bit of a wait, was sooooo delicious. The plants and interior design was neat, tho the vibe of the place isn't quite relaxing. Probably due to the fact that this cafe is located on a massive main highway/road. Also aware that they just opened so maybe in time there'll be some nicer energy in the space. Overall a good time.
Venturing into Melbourne this week, I happened across Hoppa & Joe in Fairfield. I ordered the shiitake mushrooms with kale, broccolini and poached eggs on pumpkin bread - I can only say that this was the very best breakfast that I have eaten in years! The coffee is fabulous, accompanied by fantastic service and gorgeous staff, this is a definite go to place.
Quite a small cafe so wouldn't want to get there any later than 10am or there might be a bit of a wait for a table - food was really tasty and good I had the buttered mushrooms with kale was delicious!
A friend and I had breakfast there recently. The staff are friendly and attentive. I had the sticky pork belly with fried eggs, kimchi, beetroot relish and pumpkin bread (which was lovely and buttery). It was delicious. Coffee was good and the place was nice and cosy. We'll be back!
I have had breakfast both mornings this weekend. Saturday I had the Duck Benny and was delicious. The pumpkin bread is like brioche and the combination of flavours worked perfectly. Sunday I had the porridge and easily the best porridge I have had a cafe. The service is friendly and timely. The coffee was very good. We bought slices to takeaway and they were beautiful. Highly recommend.

We love this place. Quiet area with plenty of outdoor tables. I can't really comment on the menu as a whole because I only get the breakfast gnocci. Can recommend that 100% though. It's always worth the trip out here for breakfast

The coffee is fantastic, the food is spectacular (the duck Benny and pork belly burger are standouts) and if you’re fortunate enough to have a pup and bring them along, they will be extremely spoilt by the owners and staff!
A fantastic dog friendly cafe run by fantastic people, who treat their regulars like family. A must if you’re looking for a brew in Fairfield/ Alphington!
Love the mushroom monsieur toasted sandwich! Totally divine. Perfectly crunchy toasted bread with a delicious melted cheese and mushroom filling. I travel across town to have it. Coffee is nice too! Nice outdoor pavement seating area. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

The cutest little corner cafe. Great coffee and the specialty toasties are THE BEST. The cheese and bacon jam one is my favourite guilty pleasure. But since they make the bacon jam in-house it's probably healthier than I think!
The staff are always super lovely and I'd gladly make the hike from where I live just to visit.
