Fantastic place for having a lovely dessert.
Was not sure what to expect when I arrived but the food here is honestly unbelievable. They have a HUGE variety of traditional and modern Greek food! The lamb shoulder, lemon patates, tarama and zucchini loukomades are MUST HAVES! Follow this with the traditional Galaktakoboureka with a Greek frappe and your Friday night is complete š I travelled over 45 minutes to come here and will definitely go back!
Service: 5/5 - Super friendly & very accommodating staff
Food: 5/5 - Had the Popcorn calamari & prawn pasta, both tasted delicious with fresh ingredients.
Coffee: 5/5 - Good strong coffee, nice coffee beans!
Loved it. Highly recommend!!!
Quote a relaxed and inviting but large save thankfully dark so has a good atmosphere
Athe coffee is good and the cakes and sweets are excellent
It is good for a solo diner as you get good service and prompt service and one feels comfortable there
It can be a little confusing with the multiple registers and if you just want a few biscuits to take away they do tend to fuss about with a bag a box some paper and weighing the biscuits etc
A bit of over kill really when you want a few biscuits and a coffee to go but otherwise a place with worth going to and the parking is great
Tucked a little away from the main strip of shops, restaurants and cafes on Station Street in Fairfield, there is Nikos, a modern Greek restaurant that is also a cake shop that specialises in beautiful cakes for weddings, birthdays and other special occasions. I was impressed by the restaurant's space - the interior is large and tastefully decorated, with a dedicated counter for takeaway pastries and cake slices, and an adjacent shop for ordering special occasion cakes. Dining at Nikos felt a notch more fancy than the other cafes in the area, but dining prices were comparable and not more pricey! The service we received was excellent, friendly and helpful. Our waiter, upon noticing that I had put aside the flower garnishes from my plate, informed me that the flowers were edible, and I replied that I was keeping them to show my daughters. When he came back to clear our plates after our meal, he placed a tiny container on the table for the flowers! It was such a thoughtful gesture. We enjoyed our coffees, and the food was every bit as delicious as they looked. Nikos is definitely one that we will revisit again, when things go back to normal.
The food is absolutely amazing! Great quality and couldnāt be happier! The service was great, always making sure to see if everything was alright and if we were happy! Had a great night and will definitely recommend to others! š
If you're having a breaky/brunch with some friends or Family, and you've got a sweet tooth, Nikos is the place for You! First off, There was so much food choices to choose from. I eventually Had some awesome traditional scrambled eggs, (I split with my Friend) and a hot chocolate. Both were delicious and satisfied my tastebuds. Finally I had the opportunity to take a small cake. I chose a 'black forest' cake. IT. WAS. DELICIOUS. It had a nice cherry filling. Overall I really liked Nikos! Definitely recommend you could come Nikos! Five out of Five! Bravo Nikos! Bravo!šš
Highly recommend for small or large groups, friendly and attentive staff, dessert bar is heavenly ā£ļø yum
If you havenāt tried the tiropita and sweets, youāre definitely missing out! Great service! Great food every time.
The restaurant decoration is amazing. Customer service is extremely good. Food is delicious. Although the price is little bit pricy but it is worth it.
Lovely establishment, lovely coffee, lovely poutinga, perfect galaktobouriko .just a little loud for me but otherwise really nice experience
I was stoked to hear Nikos had opened up in Fairfield which is much closer to home than its original store in Oakleigh. The Fairfield store is much bigger, has a larger variety and new cakes (since Iāve been to the original). Iām not sure when theyāve introduced gateaux, but I had only been used to continental cakes and cheesecakes. We ordered a strawberry tart and bougatsa (Greek dessert with custard filling). The strawberry tart might be the best Iāve ever had. Shortcrust was buttery and crumby, custard was creamy, strawberries were sweet and the crunchy pistachios added texture. 10/10! The bougatsa was also amazing. Warm custard encased by flaky, crisp pastry with just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar. Another 10/10!
Nice expensive food & drinks, we will not return due to Cashier & Receipt issues. We wanted to pay Separately, but our friends paid for others too, they couldn't print out another Receipt for me.
Beautifully decked out restaurant and lovely service.
The cannolis, bougatsa and tiropita/spanakopita were so tasty. Would definitely go back and try some more of their menu items
Great soy latte, and Iām fussy! And the dolmades on the lunch menu were delicious. Very surprised by the average rating. Normally I check out ratings before I go anywhere. Iām glad I didnāt in this case as I would have walked straight past. From my experience, it definitely deserves a 4+. The styling was top notch and I felt warmly welcomed.
I've been a regular at the Oakleigh store for years and finally had the chance to head over to fairfield. Freddos' and the galactobouriko are consistent with what I'm use to, but the addition of hot food at this store is a great addition!! We started with zucchini and feta loukoumades and dolmades and our mains were the ribs and the soutzoukakia seriously it was all delicious and we would definatly be back. Yes it's louder then other cafes but we are Greek that's the way it is. See you guys again soon
Great addition to the northern suburbs for the big Greek/Italian community. Convenient and looks great from the outside with nice furnishings inside. I call it the Greek version of brunettiās. Coffee is good and the desserts are endless! So much to choose from and they cover the whole Mediterranean with their choices as well as the Aussies. Always changing it up so you wonāt get bored. Iāve had many desserts here, lunch (souvlakia) from the kitchen and the panini from the front counter. All very yummy. The only thing thatās difficult is finding a seat as itās always busy and usually a wait the later in the evening you go and very hard to get a pram through and to keep the pram out of the way. Also as desserts can change there is no menu so you have to go and choose what you want and then sit down at your table and tell the waiter. Only if you are ātaking awayā can you ask the staff st the dessert counters for what you want.
Came to Nikos for breakfast with a friend. Was fantastic!! Service was excellent and food was delicious! Will Defs be back no questions! Well done to the Nikos team
Rating 3.5/5 - Glad to have Nikos in our neighbourhood. The restaurant is really modern and looks beautiful. It is close to the train station and it opens in the evening. It is really handy for folks coming off the train to grab a takeaway. The cakes look amazing and taste good. The menu looks really appetizing. I had the pan roasted omelette which the menu says has caramalised pork shoulder, sweet red capsicum, button mushroom and bacon salt. Sounds great but the kitchen probably need to work on the delivery. It is cooked ok but I thought the eggs were over done because it continued to cook in the cast iron serving plate and as a result the eggs were really rubbery. The pork shoulder looks and taste like leftovers. The dish is edible but I think it over promised and under delivered. I provided the feedback and the service manager was quick to rectify the issue. On that point, I thought service was good. I would be happy to try the other dishes on the menu but I would give the omelette a miss. Coffee taste great although it was a bit pricey compared to the neighbouring cafe which serves just as good if not better.Overall, I will visit again to try their lunch and dinner menu.I am happy for this cafe to be in this neighbourhood as it gives variety and I love that it is open late at night, Very handy when you want a dessert after dinner and those amazing greek desserts are a delightful treat.
A nice warm greeting at the door and sat at our table a minute later. Bottle of water with us within another minute. Staff were so warm and welcoming. Great start!
Knowledgeable waitress took time to explain menu and help us choose. Must admit at this stage loving it and love the ambience of the place as it is alive and buzzing in true Greek style.
Now for the food, modernised Greek and choices galore. I had the wagyu burger and chips which was perfect. My wife had the prawn bucatini and the sauce was beautiful and prawns big fresh and cooked to perfection.
Nikos is famous for cakes and a look around the joint you are blown away by the huge choice. The loukoumades I had and the ekmek my wife, were both a delight.
Enough said, so happy Nikos has come to Fairfield and canāt wait to come again, this time for dinner.
PS. Coffee was right on the money too
Real score 3.8 out of 5.
Nikos in Fairfield is not so much a cake shop but rather a large modern cafe that incorporates a cake business. The cafe is in a handy location just across from Fairfield station. Itās a huge space with a large number of tables and a big communal table. Itās not been here long but itās popular and bustling already. There was a steady stream of people coming and going while we were here. On a weekend I imagine the place is even busier.
We found some of the tables for two too close down the back of the cafe. We asked to be moved from one of these tables as I could hear convos on both sides of me very clearly, not what I was after for a catch up with my friend. We were politely allowed to shift to a more private table for four at the front of the cafe. Noise generally is still an issue though. Itās a seriously busy cafe and itās noisy.
I had the Kefalonian scrambled eggs today with a side of bacon. It was a very enjoyable dish. The eggs had a delicious subtle creamy flavour. Also, I loved the small bits of cooked onion throughout. The sourdough was terrific too. The bacon topped the dish off nicely. It was chargrilled and had a lovely deep smoky flavour. My friend has a burger and really enjoyed that too. We finished with coffees. They are top notch coffees here.
I was really impressed with the staff here as well. We had contact with six throughout our meal here. Make and female, young and not so young. They were all excellent. Pleasant and efficient and very hard working. Theyād be a credit to any business.
Delicious cakes... even though it was very busy, the staff made sure we got a table in the 10min waiting time.
The service was quick. The coffee hot and all served at the same time with our cakes. Great vibe
Greek Heaven. This is one of, if not the best Greek cafes with quality Greek Sweets in Melbourne or Sydney. You go for the sweets, definitely not the service.
Best Greek sweets done the proper way. If you don't think you like Greek sweets, that's because you haven't been here. We tried a few including the Rivani, Backlava and Galaktobouriko and they were sensational. Fantastic layout which is super impressive as is the atmosphere. A great addition to Fairfield. Loved it other than the service
Nikos is one of the areas best known cafes, it is really a cake shop with coffee. Now that we have that out of the way, we can not diminish the cafe side of the shop. Losts of options for food (mostly Greek sweet foods) and the best Baklava around.
The cakes range from Wedding to all types of functions and they will help you design something unique for your event.
Shop local and get your cakes from Nikos
Great place for having some great dessert's. Great presentation and quality cakes. Tried the Mars bar cake, Nutella cheesecake, Neapolitan.
Loved the bar cake alot.
Service could had been more better.
Amazing cakes and sweets in Fairfield (directly next to the train station).
We visited on a Friday night at was very popular (approx 7pm).
While they serve savouries we were keen on the sweet. Head to the back for an amazing array of sweet treats!
On the left is a huge selection of cookies and in the middle a barista coffee station.
The sweets were amazing as was the coffee.
Highly recommended. Think Lygon St in Fairfield.
Given itās a nice walk from my place I have found my new local.
We had booked a table for 5 on Motherās Day for dinnerā¦..from the moment we arrived we were greeted and welcomed by smiley facesā¦
From our entĆ©e, main meals drinks and desserts with coffeesā¦.cold water was brought to our table without even asking ā¦.clean cutlery and plates after each meal we were so happy with the service and high quality of our meals canāt wait to come back ā¦.The saganaki was a generous size which melting in our mouth congrats everything was delicious š½š·š„
Great lunch and delicious cakes. We visited to catch up with work mates and indulge in a beautiful cake...so so good.
Nikos is one of my favourite Greek daytime eateries in Melbourne. Both locations are huge with a food selection thatās just as vast. Surprisingly, theyāre very vegan friendly with several plant-based sweet and savoury pastries. But my go-to picks are the spanakopita and the syrupy galaktoboureko.
Great places , Great foods, cake , excellent serviced , I had 3 x breakfast, 2 Lunches , & order cake for family birthday , while on a holiday in Melbourne Jun 2022, I love to visiting again in my next holiday to melbourne ššš
Coffees are strong and fresh. The desserts are tasty but nothing beats their Galaktoboreko that is always sold out š
