Review Star Lao Thai Restaurant - Fairfield

Great food. Went to Thailand recently and we could never find anything that compares to this food quality. Great food for good price/value The only thing they should enhance is the lady at the reception taking the orders, especially on the phone. People taking orders should be fluent english speaking.

I don't review but I had to make an exception. Food was delicious. Prices were very reasonable and portions were generous. New owners are very friendly. Lao sausage highly reccomended!

We usually go there and we enjoy it. The pawpaw salad is tasty and quite spicy, just the way we like it. One of the waiters acts like they don't want to be there, but otherwise, great restaurant.

Great Loas restaurant in the Western Suburbs. One of the few places that we have been able to find. Small restaurant with warm decor. Quite authentic food which is very similar to Thai food but with some distinct flavours. Booking for larger groups would be recommended but its an ideal place for dinner when you dont feel like cooking. Especially for local people. It is possible to park behind the store although there is minimal lighting in the alley.

It's a hit and miss - I generally order the same main dishes 'raw beef salad - extra spicy extra bible' and lao pawpaw salad extra spicy + others. Sometimes its spicy, sometimes its not. One time they didn't put any chilli nor did they put bible at all in the raw beef salad. Plus charged an extra $10. My most recent trip... it wasnt even raw... of the 7 or so times I've been 4 haven't been good. I don't think I'll continue dining here due to inconsistency.

Blink and you'd miss it, but glad we tried it out, servings were generous, prices really reasonable, authentic flavours, our favourite picks were too many, but soft-shell crab and lao sausages were top!

Great service. Gave us free side dishes as we were the last patrons of the day. Really charismatic waitstaff.

Great authentic food with reasonable price. Pad Thai and the Salads are fantastic. Really recommended for those who love Thai-Lao food.

Came here for lunch on a weekday and We ordered pad Thai, raw beef salad and sticky rice.
Loved the raw beef salad at only $9 and the pad Thai at $9.The total bill added up to $21 with the sticky rice at $3.Such good value for a filling lunch and great food.Service is quite average but the food definitely makes up for that! It's about a 30 min drive from my area but I still manage to always come here for Thai. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area

Star Laos Thai Restaurant has just recently been renovated with modern furniture giving it a new sleek look. But only locals would recognise the restaurant because it's not situated in an area where not many non-locals would visit. It serves a variety of Laos, Vietnamese and Thai dishes ranging from duck to seafood. Having read a number of reviews on it, I walked in with a neutral heart expecting something simple and homey.

The bill came to $37 which is ridiculously cheap for 4 generously sized portions of food. It may not have been the most amazing meal but we did have a very good feed

I live near this restaurant and I go there every fortnight or so because their food is definitely tasty and value for money
I definitely recommend trying their of tongue, spring roll, tiger tears and crispy pork belly. I wasn't a big fan of their crab friend rice. Their curries are also nicely done

They've recently renovated the place so points for ambience has definitely increased from 2/10 to 7/10

Staff are also very friendly. Would definitely recommend trying this place!

Poor food. The chicken is often under cooked and raw.

Food here is below average. Ive eaten alot of thai food and have never experienced such bad food. The chicken cashew had a bad smell and was inediable. The worst Thai food I have eaten. If you like Thai food DON'T come here. You will be hugely disappointed. The only good thing about this place is the spring rolls.

I went there yesterday for the first time and i was very happy with my experience there. it was great they make reservations and have no problem changing times (i had to ring three times to change the reserved time) and they have air con. the space is quite small but there was no problem with customer seating from 7pm-9pm on saturday.
the prices were very affordable and a good portion size. i got a big plate of pad thai for $9 and my partner got lao sausages, ox tongue and rice. he could not finish it all and neither could i.
the drinks was not listed on the menu, there was a fridge where you had to select your own drinks. and for the desserts, you had to look at the tv screen they have behind the counter which was a bit bad but of course not difficult to do. we got dessert, cookies n cream sundae, fried ice cream, chocolate mania. the desserts were well presented and tasted very nice.
we were also randomly given a plate of sliced oranges! although im not sure if they did that with other custoners as well.
the only thing i was unhappy about was the service. it wasnt terrible but you would always have to call someone over when you wanted something and they wouldnt come to check up on if you wanted anything else. the total for it was $48 which i think is great considering the value we got.
i recommend this place and i would definately go again.
