Review Song Fang Khong - Fairfield

Fantastic Lao Isan food! Our regular family favourite in a slightly hidden location. Portions are generous and great value. Flavour is amazing and a great alternative to the many surrounding Thai restaurants. We always enjoy eating here.

I remember this place was nice years ago. I went today with my partner and was very disappointed. We ordered 4 dishes. The pad Thai was too sweet and soggy. The crunchy fried rice was too hard when it was supposed to be crunchy. The ox tongue was too smelly, it had a strong raw beef odour. The Tom yum combination soup was nothing special either. Overall, not very nice.

The food here is pretty good. Standouts include the ox tongue and Thai style paw paw salad. The grilled beef salad was alright, but I've had better elsewhere. But yeah, it's good to see authentic Lao/Thai food like this outside of the CBD! Would recommend.

Great Laos food. I really like the Ox Tongue, Lao Sausage, Crispy Fried Rice and Lao Paw Paw Salad here. Friendly staff too and food comes out relatively quick!

Waited over 20 minutes to get s table and once we got in we waited close to 10 minutes to before we can order. We have to ask the waitress to come over to take our order, we were very close to walking out. They were completely under staff with 2 waitresses working and only one is taking orders in the whole restaurant. There were people that came in later and ordered after us but got their food before we did. I find this unacceptable and won't be returning this restaurant again.

Update not really required. This place is still consistently serving great food. For those that want to experience authentic Loas/Thai food this place is a must try.

Great place tucked away, food is authentic and very reasonably priced must try for great flavours also try items which are not in your comfort zone

I have been eaten here for 5 years, the location and seating area is quite old, but i do like the flavour.

Song Fang Khong used to be my favourite Lao & Thai dining place in Western Sydney area. The restaurant is small but very homely. Often come here with a big group of friends so we can try out almost everything: chicken feet salad, papaya salad, Lao sausage, ox tongue, fish cake, and fermented meat fried rice. Combine them with fresh cabbage, herbs, and sticky rice.. yummy! Thinking of them makes me hungry! The tom yum soup and curry were okay, not really special. A few weeks ago I travelled all the way to Fairfield to introduce this restaurant to my friends. The staff is still as lovely as ever but I feel like the food has lost its vibes. Prices went up on an average of $3 for most of the items on the menu.

One of my all time favourite restaurants. I love Loa food and this place in my opinion serves the best Loa food. The place feels homey so you will feel at home.

Small little place that serves great food! I love coming here, every time I come here the food comes out fast and the service is good. The only thing is that it does get a little bit too tight if you sit on a table too close to the wall but it's something you would forget once the food comes out!

This place is hardcore authentic laos/thai and sits on a quiet lane across the road from the club. People that dine here are locals and has a a great menu. i highly recommend the fried chicken and noodle soup.

Song Fang Khong is one of two discreet Lao/Thai in the lane next to each other. Locals have their favourite, known by their relative position rather than their names, “I like the one of the left” or “nah, I reckon the one on the right is better”.

Tucked away in a little side street opposite Fairfield RSL is this unassuming
Thai-Laos restaurant. It has half a dozen tables covered in plastic, and the TV on the way has the latest Thai pop sensations. The food is delightfully authentic, quick to come, and served with a smile. My top picks: quail, som tum, larb, and sticky rice of course.

Live life, love food
