The Hungry Buddha’ is a Nepalese restaurant situated in the heart of a small Town In canberra, 4 Farrer Place .
As you enter the place you are welcomed by a magnificent setting, a delightful Buddha and the luxuries of modernity. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. All the food I had were fresh and delicious . The chefs take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients. The restaurant also caters for all tastes by providing a large selection of the Nepalese foods , Beer, wine, which are pricy but worth sampling. Thankfully the owner and hostess, a middle-aged charming , is always around willing to exchange some kind words with all their clients.
I had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason I highly recommend going to the The Hungry Buddha restaurant. 4 Farrer Place Canberra .
Ever got that feeling that you were so excited to eat the food and forgot to take photos of it? We ordered 2 sets of chilli chicken(my fave ), 3 sets of mo: mo, we also had garlic and cheese naan, butter chicken, goat, beef vindaloo, and the rice. Plus plus plus if you’re not into spicy food , you can let them know if you’d like it mild or really spicy. They can modify to your preference. It was so good that we finished all the food.
We had this Nepalese drink which I forgot the name, it was white and a bit thick in consistency. They said it was made of yogurt and I lalalalove it! I finished it before the appetisers arrived .
They also served variety of wines and when you go to the restaurant, look at the wall by the counter, its literally #WineRackGoals.
Loves it, really .
Thank you for a wonderful night! Your service was great considering how busy you were and the food was tender with great traditional flavours. We welcome you to our neigbourhood and recommend you to all Indian and Nepalese food lovers! I should also point out that you have many GF tasty options which is great! A great local date night spot!
This is the best place to have tropical Nepali food . Best service with friendly staff .....
Charming restaurant with excellent service making one feel very welcome. A choice of delicious traditional Nepalese food is served here, I personally love the momos (dumplings) and chicken chilli. The soft background Nepalese music and the personal touch give this restaurant a top listing in my book ...
Loved the food, atmosphere and service. Was totally worthy driving from Sydney to dine at this awesome place. Highly recommended restaurant to taste lovely Nepalese food with family.
I came Australia to visit my family from UK. When I visited canberra, I wanted to try nepalese food and went to The hungry buddha resturant farrer. Well wasn’t that just kick me in the crotch, spit on my neck fantastic.
The Hungry Buddha?? More like, the Delicious Well-Satisfied Stuffed Like an Olive Tickle-my-Back-Fergalicious Buddha.
Allow me to start with the entree:
The Maikkari Fry - More like, mother May I?!
And, if I may, the main:
The eggplant mountain - more like, can I have
more amount-ain!
And finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for, the dessert:
The Pistachio ice cream - more like, the MustHavechio ice cream!
T-t-t- T to the A to the S-T-E-Y Buddha you tasty
(I’ve also had a couple ) (cheers) (5 starts also to Jirra wine)
The place has moved from Curtin shops to now Farrer shops and the food is still fantastic. The lentil entree was particularyl good and should be made in a main size, the goat and vegetable dishes excellent.
Not too spicy or salty or oily, tasty clean food.
It was my first time experience for the Hungry Buddha Farrer. It was really delicious food and great environment and atmosphere . Lovely staff Thanks.
Fabulous meal, such a great place. Do yourself a massive favour and visit this authentic restaurant
Lovely space, pretty colourful light fittings, but more importantly, friendly attentive service, fabulously delicious traditional food, including Nepalese beers.

We were unaware of this restaurant until a friend invited us, and we're very glad he did.
The food was super good, everything well seasoned and the staff is incredibly friendly.
A dinner for 4 with shared entrees and shared naans was around 40 per person and the portions were more than enough having a all ranges of people with different levels of appetite.
We'll be back, for sure.
Fantastic
