Review Ghalji Restaurant - Fawkner

Had a good dining experience at Ghalji. Was looking for Pakistani cuisine and was very impressed. I had Lamb Charsi Karahi, Nihari and Roghni Naan. Karahi was superb - hot and flavourful with succulent lamb. Nihari was fantastic with ‘fall apart’ tender beef and delicious gravy. Roghni naan was too good. Doesn’t always have a decent crowd so not family friendly. Staff is slow and hard to communicate with. Tables and seating area can be cleaner. But the food makes up for the downside so give it a try.

Worst experience at this restaurant. The gravy was so tasteless felt like they have added extra water to match the quantity can clearly see onion slices in it and the chicken was just like boiled chicken added into the gravy as you can see the picture.no taste at all When I reported to the lady at the front, she told me that she will check with the owner and will get back to me, but never called me back. guys be careful. Total waste of money, had no option to give them a zero rating. And on top of that they prefer cash only something very suspicious. ☹️☹️☹️

Though cheap but extreme less quantity and rude lady serving at the counter. I bought 3 lamb paya and has bones only no meat. Extreme disappointed 500 ml container and not even half an amount in it for $7 😡 Never going back again

I had Qeema Naan. It was just average, could have been better. $8 each.

Dining at Ghalji since 2017 & food quality is amazing. Though we moved to Geelong but we love going to this place again and again! Highly recommended if you want to try authentic Afghan & Pakistani food :) This place is cozy & very humble staff/service :) :)

Absolutely loved loved the food! We ordered Nihari, Haleem with Naan. The quality of food was amazing. Feedback would be to improve customer service in terms of having someone at the counter would definitely help increase the rating. The serving of food was also great and generally the place was clean. Will definitely come back.

Had a very strong craving one day for some Pakistani/Afghan food. Found this place tucked away in a reasonably quiet street. Ordered 3 lachha parathas which turned out to be a mistake. The parathas were huge :). And beautifully soft and crisp at the same time. Had the Nihari and took away a Dal Gosht. Excellent food and decent prices. Felt like telling a few jokes to the girl at the counter though to lighten her mood a little bit. She seemed indifferent or angry. I just wish it wasn't something I did :). But jokes apart, I am sure I just saw her at a bad time. Happens to all of us. Anyway, all in all, a great place for some no pretense, hearty, honest and tasty Pakistani food. Highly recommended.

Good place for Pakistani/Indian food plus curry and naan however the staff is a bit incompetent at times. I really enjoy their chicken tikka and qeema naan.

As they say Simple is beautiful... this certainly holds true for this place.. It's a gem among all the possible options.. Why because Melbourne is now flooded with Pakistani restaurants that offer a modern contemporary take on our cuisine via a blend of urban setting, decent customer service and good food...

What makes Ghalji so different is their intent on presenting normal simple traditional food you would find on a roadside Pakistani restaurant and presenting it wiithout any bells and whistles... While the service was polite and acceptable and the setting quite simple but eventually it's all about the food and you've to taste to believe me.. The Roghni, Keema Naan, Chana Daal are absolutely sensational... no where in Melbourne will you find such range of Roti and Naan like you would here.. From Roghni to Peshawari Roti, Kabuli Naan, Keema, Aaloo Naan..

No wonder people ( like we did )were taking dozens of Rotis and Naan's as take away.. In short, Try this place if you are after authentic but delicious Pakistani food with a touch of simplicity that comes straight from the heart.
