I have only recently begun to start on a vegetarian/vegan diet and oh my Lord, I think this place will be my saviour. The vegan toastie was amazing and the coffee was great too. Lovely staff and reasonably priced. I just relocated back to Melb from Brissy where there were alot of vegan options close to home, so I'm glad I found this place :) will be back.
Great food, fantastic relaxing atmosphere recommend to all even if your not a vegetarian/vegan. Thanks Waratah organics or the great service and food
The only local place that is a true veg place that we love to eat at....lots of vegan gluten free food cakes and drinks....10 out of 10....
Wow what can I say!!
By far my most favourite place to eat out!
I always have my most favourite Peace pancakes, Vegan Nachos, and vegan treats
I have food intolerances to both Soy gluten and Dairy!
It makes me so happy knowing I can still eat some of my favourite foods! I never get bloated or feel sick either always walk away feeling amazing!
Organic fresh healthy and clean!
Thankyou!
We ordered the pancakes, big brekky and a coconut milk mocha. Was all super delicious. Very generous portion sizes too!
If you thought going vegan would be hard, try the burger bomb or the super vegan nachos!
The minute you take "animal" off the menu, things get really interesting!
Loved the food especially the lemon slice and our 2 year old loved the play area. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We traveled from Frankston on our way to Puffing billy and it was great.
My new go to coffee place in the morning!!
Amazing food and coffee! Such a great find!!
Great food choices for Vegans. Lovely staff, outstanding breakfasts. Been 5 times for breakfast and can't wait to get in and try some lunch items.
We had lunch and raw cakes there today. They were brilliant. So tasty. We will definitely be back.
Had a delicious lunch and dessert. Love this place!

Lovely cafe at the foot of the hills, lovely people, beautiful food. Their lunch packs are so yum & good for you
GREAT chai, delicious food, good company - definitely my go-to place while Im staying in the hills for a couple of months :)
Best cafe ever! My favorite place to eat and affordable too! :)
Super yummy! So awesome to have a local spot to get lunch, smoothies and RAW HEALTHY treats :-).
Great vibe and an awesome community :-)
Awesome organic yummy food and coffee :-) :-) :-)
Absolutely loved my meal, got the pumpkin smash with added poached eggs, lovely layer of avo underneath with spinach topped on top. Also got the choc banana smoothie which was just as amazing! Loved the staff very friendly and very cute cafe to go to after the 1000 steps! Prices were also relatively cheap and had great vegan options also!
Like many others I had breakfast here after walking the 1000 steps in the Dandenong Ranges. I highly recommend the big veggie breakfast ( the serving size is almost enough for 2 ). I have never tried tofu scrambled and am so lucky I ordered this as it was absolutely delicious with the spices of cumin and coriander powder providing an amazing flavour., a great idea being the added crunch of a micro herb/salad on top. The homemade baked beans ( the owner/manager’s recipe ) were deliciously tender and tasty, seeded multigrain toast, tomato relish, sautéed spinach and mushrooms rounded off the plate. Green tea in a pot was my drink of choice. Many happy customers and I was drooling at what was served to other tables ( the pancake stack was very popular ). Please give this local gem a try, excellent friendly service and awesome food.
After finishing 1000 steps and driving past this place on numerous occasions finally today was the day! A small but well styled menu had some great smoothie options. The service was impeccable! The girl that served me was great so bubbly and so helpful. Service was quick and efficient and the smoothie and coffee were perfect
Had the vegan nachos which were nice, though could have used some more sour cream and also some salsa. I would return to try some of the other dishes. Would love to see the menu go completely vegan.
A good place to head to for a refuel after completing the 1000 steps nearby. It has a cosy and friendly vibe about the place, and nice food too. I ordered the acai bowl which was decent but it needed a bit more fruit as described in the menu.
Fresh, filling food with lots of options! Friendly staff and such a cute little cafe perfect for after a long walk in the forest. Definitely will stop by again next time I'm out that way!
As soon as you walk into this cafe you feel a sense of comfort and coziness, it's nothing amazing inside but it's the atmosphere that this cafe creates which makes it so unique. The menu screams all things tasty and nutritious, it is hard to walk out of this cafe empty handed, there is something for everyone. If you are up in the Dandenong's be sure to drop in to this cute little cafe and try the Peace Pancakes, they are Delish!
Amazing food, amazing service, amazing location! I went there for my birthday and they did not disappoint in the slightest; I came for breakfast which was the scrambled tofu and açai bowl to share with my friend then after it was just a quick walk to 1000 Steps in the morning, spent a few hours there then heading back here for lunch and had the nachos which we incredible! Everything is pretty reasonably priced for an organic cafe, especially the kombucha for only $4.50 (I'm a kombucha junkie soz)! It's a perfect selection of different foods, and even non-vegetarian/vegans are sure to enjoy it! Thanks guys!
Perfectly located near the car park for the Kokoda 1000 steps memorial walk, it was a welcome refuge after several climbs that morning! It is only a small place with limited seating, and they have clearly been very busy before we arrived just after 1pm. This meant it did take a bit for us to be served, but the three girls there were doing a wonderful job trying to get everything done. Our drinks and meals still came out in a reasonable time. My green juice was cleansing, while the others on the table reposted their juices and smoothies were yummy too. My deconstructed burger was delicious, although probably a little pricey. The peace pancakes got an excellent report and the nachos looked amazing when they were brought out to another table. Couldn't leave without trying one of their raw donuts- the vanilla one comes highly recommended!
Been here twice now. I had the vegan big breakfast both times and it's bloody delicious! The service is great and the coffee is pretty dam good too.
we went here after dying from 1000 steps as it is quite close, so very convenient!! many organic juices available but we only ordered poached eggs on toast and salad ( from build-a-bowl) Food was pretty standard and basic, salad was OK but didnt have enough dressing ;( the Red Velvet tasted interesting, tasted quite 'nutrient dense' if that makes sense haha i personally liked it
overall convenient + cute place to go after 1000steps; staff are very nice :)
This place was amazing!! Service was incredible and every person working was genuinely friendly and unpretentious. The nachos & juices & berry cheesecake were amazingly delicious, the burger was also nice. The fact that all the meals were vegan is mindblowing!!! Definitely coming back here again!!
This is my favourite cafe on earth. Staff are amazing, food is fantastic. They even organised for me to buy their wonderful berry cheesecake as a full cake for my 21st. Love it here dearly
A beautifully presented cafe and not to mention, amazing and delicious food! The setting was on point and I loved to the rustic and natural look of the cafe and it was very comfortable and relaxing. My friend and I both ordered their pancakes which are to die for along side some refreshing smoothies. Everything on their menu is vegan which is a huge bonus and I love how health conscious and environmentally friendly they are!! Had a brief chat with the owners and they are also lovely people providing excellent customer service! Only downside is how there were no toilets in the cafe so you have to cross a busy road to use public ones, but apart from that couldn't fault it!
I've been to this place before, and their service has been slow or they haven't had enough on the menu that I wouldn't have a reaction to.
Service: I'm happy to report that they have improved their menu and their service has improved to the point of me being able to say that they were excellent. (The staff were brilliant and attentive. Very caring and sweet).
Food: I had the Zoodles, Build a Bowl, with a poached egg on top and a serve of avocado. I chose the soya sauce and ginger dressing. It tasted so good and was very filling.
My partner had the Burger. I had a little taste, it was totally vegan, with a lentil burger and vegan cheese and sour kraut. It really was the bom. :)
We also had a slice of raw vegan cheese cake. It tasted so good, that there wasn't really enough to share. :D
LGBTI Friendly: No judgement, so it's easy to feel at home. :)
Toilets: I have never needed to use the toilets there, so I have no idea if they even have any. It's quite a small venue, so I'm not sure what the deal is there. It's a really relaxed atmosphere. The food is the best thing you could possibly eat for your heart, soul and body. They ticked every box for me this time.
Wheelchair Access: There are outside tables and it looks like you might be able to fit a chair through the door, but I'm not sure. You can definitely go in with other walking aids.
The best organic vegetarian cafe I think I have tried in Australia. I think I have tried nearly everything on the menu and I am always super happy with my meals. The vegan burrito I think being my favourite. Treat yourself and head to Waratah at upper furntree gully.
Waratah Organics is a cosy little cafe hidden away on the busy main road in Ferntree Gully. The interior is 70's, peaceful and very hippyish. The staff are very friendly and fair to all customers, don't let anyone push in line even if it's a regular customer and make sure everyone gets served in an orderly fashion. There smoothies are amazing, no dairy added just packed with fruit. They have Raw & Vegan food and desserts fresh and tasty. We love the raw desserts, they are so delicious, you can't tell your eating something so good for you. The Vanilla Donut is amazing- dates, goji berries, vanilla, nuts and coconut in the form of a donut ring.
TIP: Do order any of there raw desserts- the vanilla donut is our favourite!
A popular little cafe catering for vegans sitting next to another cafe which was almost empty. They have plenty of seating and a number of raw slices and health drinks. The orange juice was fresh and matcha green tea quite good. I had the berry nice drink with berries, banana, chia seeds, coconut and some other healthy bits'n'pieces! The toasted banana bread was a bit ordinary but the red velvet cake was an interesting vegan version of this. I liked the peace sign on the cappuccino! Fairly expensive snack but enjoyable nevertheless.
This is my kind of cafe - vegetarian oriented with lots to choose from on the menu. I had scrambled tofu, which was loaded with spinach, olives, onions and other veg. The coffee was quite okay. The decor is a little 70s counter-culture, which I appreciate, and the ambience is relaxed and laid back. The service was friendly.
Great food - tasty, ethical and healthy.
Staff were polite, but the coffee and food took way too long, and one of our party didn't get their eggs until the rest of us had finished ours.
Absolutely loved this little cafe! I was overwhelmed by all the choices of food and drinks. The cafe is all organic vegetarian and offers vegan options which is a bonus for those of us that can't have lactose! I had the most beautiful pancakes, fluffy and full of flavour! Presentation was so beautiful! My Mother loved her smashed avocado with vegan feta! We will definitely be back. If you are looking for real wholesome food at a great price! This is the place for you!
I went here earlier this week for a late lunch. I wanted to start off by mentioning that they've updated their menu; it's different to the one that's posted here. If you do go here, you'll find that there are many more items available :)
I ordered a matcha green tea latte, an Immune Tune juice and zoodles (zucchini 'noodles') The latte was delicious and the perfect temperature for me! I'm not a coffee snob, I just hate drinking scalding hot drinks, haha. The juice was so yummy ^___^ made fresh! I took a photo of it after I started drinking it (whoops)
I loved the zoodles! Super tasty meal, and so fresh. It had walnuts, avocado, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and other yummy bits and pieces. Staff are really lovely, including the owner (I met him prior to this visit) They're all very warm and friendly :)
Thank you for the lovely experience, guys!

You know those days that come around only when the sun, moon and stars align in one particular way, and you find yourself with plenty of time to indulge in whatever pleasure you so chooses to partake in?. I certainly hope you do, because it is honestly one of the most wonderful feelings ever and today, I was lucky enough to find myself basking in this blessed free time.
My girlfriend and I recently headed out to the dandenongs to do 1000 steps. On the hunt for something wholesome and healthy, we came across this great little place. Prices were pretty reasonable and food was super yum and fresh. Staff were also very welcoming. I would definitely recommend the chai spiced bliss ball!
After 1000 steps, my buddy and I were looking for some guilt free food to go with out strenuous workout. After pulling ourselves away from the delicious doughnuts and various other naughty foods at the market across the road we decided to get some drinks here.
I had such a hard time choosing what to get, all the smoothies they offered looked so interesting and i wanted to try them all. While asking for advise they explained that everything they sell is organic, and they offer 6 different milks.
I ordered a new smoothie on the board (can't remember the name, its not listed on their menu here) containing pea protein. I chose their house made almond milk as the base and a few minutes later i was presented with green smoothie with coconut and goji berries on top. It was delicious for a green slighly lumpy smoothie, very satisfying not only that it was tasty but was totally healthy too.
While we waited I was also eyeing the banana bread, I have such a soft spot for banana bread. So my friend bought us a slice each. Yum! It was soft, moist and just the right amount of banana sweetness.
Lovely lunch there the other day served by lovely people.
Probably the best vegan nachos I've ever had!!
It was clear that a lot of love and care is put into the food and service. Highly recommended.
An awesome little gem! REALLY great food and very warm, friendly service. It's clear that there's a lot of love going into this place - and you can definitely taste it!
Winter weekends for some mean wet, miserable days brought about by gloomy skies and dark mornings. For me, there’s no better time than to sit simply in a cosy café to nourish myself. One such café that sets this scene effortlessly is Waratah Organics in Ferntree Gully.
Check out the review of Waratah Organics in the blog post below.
Delicious food, friendly service and a great atmosphere. 100% satisfied every time I visit, will keep coming back. Keep up the good work! :)
Love this place :) My local vegan friendly cafe! I was so excited when they opened. Now I can ride my bike here every week. The staff are lovely and the food is fabulous, as well as catering for gluten free and vegan.
Nice environment, friendly staff. Space to sit or wait for order. My friend had a scrambled tofu wrap and coconut milk coffee which she enjoyed. I had a Carmel slice which was nice but very sweet &
Nice cafe, decor looks and feels a bit dated but it's comfy, food and service was good and there's plenty of parking nearby
The vegan big breakfast is fantastic. Big, beautiful, and very tasty. The rest of our meals were also excellent. The service was fast and friendly. We will definitely be back.
My sister and I popped in for lunch today. We had the deconstructed Veggie burger. Was absolutely delicious.
My sister had a freshly squeezed Juice and I a Cappacino both were really nice. Staff were really friendly. Will definitely go back.
Enjoyed it very much. Was with 2 others and we had 3 different smoothies: Extreme Green, Immune Tune and Pink Drink. We all agreed the Extreme Green was the best tasting. They were all brightly coloured which looks nice.
The Burger Bomb is one of the better vegan burgers I've had and their dessert is to die for. We (two of us) had berry cheesecake and caramel slice. Although my friend said the latter was too sweet for him. The girls who were working are really nice and I like that they have paper straws (not that I would expect plastic straws in a place like this anyway).
Vegan big breakfast and golden milk was so delicious. Warm cosy place, friendly staff. Loved it
Went on a weekday and it was quiet but great delicious dietry friendly food. Has a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. However keep an eye on where you park due to time limits
Amazing vegan cafe. Probably some of the best vegan food I've had the pleasure of eating!
