The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the food is always fantastic but the giant dim sims are to die for.
This little restaurant has the best dim sims . We live 350 kms away and whenever we go to Melbourne we make sure we get at least five dozen to take back with us to share with our family . Seriously they are unbelievable .
The pink menu is the old one, refer to the green one for when you are ordering. The food is good, especially the dim sims and the gigantic spring rolls.
Yummy yummy yummy. Generous sizes. No added MSG as far as i can tell and even tastier the next day. Satay beef is delicious as are the fried wontons.
These guys have the best spring rolls. They are so big you have to share them. I've never seen a spring roll quite like it. Their dishes are always flavorful and generous.
Average meals, but cheap and amazing (HUGE!) spring rolls!. The above says it all. Looking forward to returning just for the spring rolls.

Great dim sims and spring rolls. This restaurant has been open from about 30 years now, and it's dim sims and spring rolls are as great as ever. The food is delicious, but the bbq pork tastes bland, and it's sometimes really salty.
THE BEST SPRING ROLLS EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!. One spring roll is $4.60 but ( IT IS HUGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) a meal in its self, beautiful taste, full of mince pork & cabbage & pepper LOVE 'EM. I drive from warrandyte to ferntreegully for dinner. WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!
Was referred, we tried, we liked, we keep going back.. This place is quite small with not much in the way of décor and located a bit out of the way in Fern Tree Gully.
One of my wife's friends recommended it so we thought we'd give it a go.
One of the staff is a lovely (dare I say it) little old Chinese lady with a twinkle in her eye who probably part owns the place and acts a bit like a hostess, showing you to your seat, takes your order, brings your food.
Every meal we have had so far has been delicious and generous. The highlight is obviously the food. The takeaway section is always busy which is a sure sign.
We've since been back twice and going again tonight for meal number four in about a year - it's my daughters 14th birthday today and she chose this restaurant to eat at even though it's much further away from us than some other more upmarket ones. Enough said
Great Local Chinese Food. Went with my family for my daughter’s birthday dinner. Great food with authentic Chinese flavour’s & very friendly service - would highly recommend to anyone who loves Chinese food.

This is my regular local Chinese. Best in the area and affordable. Recent refresh of the interior fittings makes dining in more tempting but most of my purchases are takeaway combined with a DVD
Good Cheap Chinese. This is the local and its delivers. They Honey chicken is fantastic (if eaten fresh, takeaway can get a bit greasy) and the home made dim sims are great. The spring rolls are huge (like a chiko on steroids)..
Great food, great price!. Don't be turned off by the lack of atmosphere. The food is really, really good, very affordable and the staff are very friendly. Arguably the best fried dimsims I've ever had in Melbourne!
Have never had a bad meal here yet, and I’ve been a customer for about 35 years! I seriously question the review from a lady who said the food was inedible. Loi Eng has always been the 'go to' place for our family.
Best special fried rice ever. Reheats really well too. Been my main Chinese takeaway place for 30 years.
Great food for a low price. Try the extra large special fried rice. Very big with lots of ingredients. Home made dim sims are good and so is the enormous spring roll!
I had an interupted train trip to Belgrave and decided takeaway while I was waiting for my daughter to pick me up in Ferntree gully was a good idea. Crossed the road to Loi Eng !!! Best find EVER !! Honestly the best Chinese food I have ever eaten and a really decent serve. Took exactly the time I was given and it was amazing 💯
