Foxy's Bar Fitzroy Island
Visited on 13/7/2022
I cannot imagine what this bar is like during normal time before the pandemic struck. i can only make comment subjectively, as I have not taken a meal here and experienced any service. Unfortunately, this is still a time of great staff shortage.
The ambience is good, and there are furniture settings outside the Bar, overlooking the Coral beach. Patrons can enjoy watching the hypnotic waves come in and retreat back to the Pacific Ocean. Obviously, this is a much different place than those down south of Australia. This is tropical north with warmer temperature and the sky is mainly sunny.
I am not sure whether the large space is used as dance floor, but I can feel the vibration and "hear" the sound of music playing.
I feel that some relaxing and soothing background music may suit the venue during the afternoon.
There are only 2 eateries in Fitzroy Island, and Foxy’s Bar is one of them. They don’t need any bookings for Dinner here, unlike the other restaurant that you will need to book in advance for breakfast and dinner.
If you are staying on the island, give this restaurant a go. It’s your typical pub meal. The Barramundi is actually really good and I would have it again if I happen to stay in the Island in the future. The quantity of the meal is humongous - which is good, so you won’t have to feel hungry during midnight! As all the shops are closed from 8PM, and if you didn’t bring any snacks, you’re doomed.
Great setting, prawn salad was awesome along with the foxy burger, expect to wait 30-40 mins for lunch though at lunchtime, no other choice, pool table is free but with a broken pool cue, friendly hard working staff.
Fitzroy Islands one and only Restaurant and Bar.
Very good .
fish was big and real reef fish, steak sandwich and the kids cheeseburger.
Would go again during peak times can wait 30-40mins so be aware if doing other things on the island.
Popped in for some cocktails this afternoon and were certainly happy!
We did read some negative reviews online but thought we would give it a go. One of our kids has allergies so asked the bar staff if it was ok for them to eat food which we brought in (signs said no BYO). They were more than happy for us to do that.
Drinks were slightly expensive but were pretty solid. Ultimately for the location it’s certainly worthwhile. Whilst we didn’t eat any food the meals looked plentiful and of quality.
Views were fabulous back over the bay. We stayed inside as it seemed to rain for at least 5 minutes each hour.
Definitely give it a go if your on the island!
