MUKKA is Soul food served on a simple steel thali. What a welcoming colourful and friendly restaurant, Mukka has set a place in my heart and for everyone looking for delicious Indian cuisine in Melbourne, this is it! We had the flavourful Chicken tikka and fresh naan and a kickstarter of Gobi 65. Definitely going back again and again.

Loved my Vegetarian Thali! Mukka is a small and crowded place, you will need some patience getting a table, otherwise, if you are not overly fussy, the bench bar seats or outdoor seating is generally available. In spite of the place being so busy, the food was delicious and the service was friendly with a smile. Highly recommended.

Great quality food but lil uncomfortable sitting!!! We ordered chicken tikka starter, slow cooked lamb curry, roti and naan. All dishes were delicious and cooked to perfection. Roti and Naan were bigger than usual and super soft. I liked it. The only thing that pulled me back from giving 5 star is the sitting arrangements. The tables were too close and it was awkward to disturb people sitting next to us, even the staff was unable to serve on the table. Your food is awesome, will visit again to try new dishes but please consider rearranging the sitting. Cheers!

Came here to celebrate my partner’s birthday and I will say this spot was just perfect! Authentic Indian feed with very generous portions at a really great price. To start, we ordered the onion bhaji and had a cocktail jug to share. Next, we had the mains. The goat curry was so well done that the meat just melted in my mouth 😋 the fish curry was my favourite and definitely a great contrast to the goat curry. we were so stuffed after the meal and I think we will be back when my partner starts craving Indian again. overall, 9.5/10 esp considering we had all of that for less than $100

One thing about the food in this place is the aroma. We brought leftovers home and warmed it up and our apartment smelt like an authentic Indian home for the next 2 days! 😛
Best thing on the menu is the HUGE naan bread . Big and delicious soft naan not made like all the other restaurants I’ve been to in Melbourne but more authentic style.
The dhal however wasn’t to my liking but that’s also probably due to preferring Sri Lankan style dhal. The chicken tikka was delicious and the biriyani rice was cooked very well.
Service was good however I would say the prices were slightly on the pricey side here so don’t expect a cheap Indian feed.

Such a nice place in the heart of Fitzroy to try out new Indian dishes or indulge in the most well known. We were a group of 6 during the week, service was really nice and the food came fast, and most important it was really delicious. Would definetely order the Naan and try out the starters, very interesting and delish!

Great South Indian food. If you're keen on trying more localised Indian food and not the usual Nth Indian stuff, this place is ideal. Food quality was spot on. We had a Thali which included 4 different dishes, roti and rice as well as Pav Bahji which was sensational. Plenty of vego options. No Lamb Kormas to be seen. Shop front looks dodgy but decor and food are really good. My Sth Indian partner rates it big time. Will definetly be back.

Listen to the spothing music whilst the orange garland flowers sway in the wind.

Bhel puri- the crisp puffed rice is filled with pomegranate, tomato, onion and filled with
lime, tamarind and bombay mix. A refreshing yet semi spicy entree.

Pav bhaji - mashed veggies with buttered pau buns. The veggies are slightly spicy and the bread was slightly tough. Paired with the refreshing cucumbers and tomatoes, all combined made the perfect sandwich.

Dal makhani - this dish is an alternative to the butter chicken and is filled with lentils, daal and red kidney beans. the makhani is so flavourful and fill of flavours.

Garlic naan - soft, lighlty and fluffy but on the sweeter side. A large slice is served and the topping of the crushed garlic and butter were perfect.

You’ll find Mukka on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy and it is everything you could want from an Indian restaurant and more. Not only do they serve beautiful Indian food, they host events including ‘Go mad with Mukka’ – a colour party held in a Coburg warehouse, or Kite Flying with thali and chai at Edinburgh Gardens. Talk about offering more than just a meal, they’re passionate about sharing true Indian culture.  If a trip to India is not around the corner, a trip to Fitzroy can be.

It's raining, it's freezing - only some hot curries can fill that summer void. You get hit with that spice smell as soon as you enter the door. So beware of what you will wear. :)

We managed to try most things in the menu; a selection of drinks, entree, main and dessert. The service was slow but friendly.
Highlights: Gobi - crunchy and flavoursome. Goat curry was really good, even liked by the 'non-goat-eating' people. The naans! 🤤 We tried 1 of each type, and all were served piping hot and so good. Lowlights: the curry for string hoppers was a bit bland. The space was a little bit too tight but the restaurant was small.  P.S. Make sure you eat the gulab jamun slowly or else you will burn yourself :)

It is one of the best Indian restaurant in Fitzroy area.
The starters are nice.
They add cucumber in Bhel and the Naans (breads) are very large.
One star down as the Lassi was very pathetic - it just had water, no flavour, no taste of yogurt.

A pretty little Indian restaurant located in Fitzroy. The restaurant itself was quaint, and the pretty decor seemed very fitting. Ordered their classic dosa, which was a savoury pancake with fillings and dipping sauce. The pancake itself was pretty good, but the filling was a bit overwhelming and too heavy to start off with. The three dipping sauce added a nice flavour, my favourite was the combination of the left and middle one. Then, there was the banana leaf fish fry, which was flavourful, but the idli wasn’t my cup of tea. It was bland and the texture was weird. I didn’t expect a good fish dish at an Indian restaurant, it seemed to be more fitting at a Thai restaurant. We had to wait for a while for our rice and garlic naan, because the mains would be overwhelming without. The goat curry was tasty, the meat was tender, it fell of the bone easily, and there wasn’t any unpleasant smell. My favourite part was eating the fluffy, soft garlic naan dipped in curry. Overall, it was an unexpectedly pleasant experience, since I wasn’t too familiar with Indian cuisine. Would like to try more.

Real rating 4.4 ⭐️

There are times where we crave for Indian food and having this in Mukka was quite the experience!

We started of with some appetizers which were pretty interesting! They had served us tandoori mushrooms, chicken tikka and others! The tandoori mushroom was such an interesting combination and actually worked for me as I love mushrooms!

Mukka specializes in many different curries - butter chicken, lamb curry, goat curry, chicken tikka masala, chickpea and spinach! My favorite was the goat curry (I rarely eat this) but thoroughly enjoyed it! The meat was so soft and tender and you could taste how juicy it was! The spiciness level was just right for me (coming from Malaysia - spicy is what we do)! I also enjoyed the lamb curry and butter chicken which were my 2nd favorite! Both were rich and meats were cooked to perfection! These curries were so good to eat with the briyani and nans!

Not to forget we ended with dessert - we were served Indian donuts and kalfi! Both desserts were enjoyable and not overly sweet!

Thank you Mukka for such a wonderful experience! We will visit again to satisfy our curry cravings!

Mukka is located on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. I love Indian food so was excited to attend a blogger night & try it out. I really loved the interior, some funky wall art & lots of colour, a cheerful & festive atmosphere.

We started with chicken tikka, tandoori mushrooms & gobhi 65 along with plenty of papadums served with mint & tamarind chutney. The chicken tikka had that strong char taste I love & was still tender inside. The tandoori mushrooms packed a big kick of heat, the raita provided an important cooling element. The gobhi (cauliflower) was excellent, one of my favourite dishes & I loved the flavour.

For mains we tried the butter chicken, goat curry, palak paneer with garlic naan & biryani. Dipping garlic naan intro creamy butter chicken is one of life’s great pleasures & we all loved this. All mains were delicious & executed well.

We finished with gulab jamun, deep fried milk donut like balls in a spiced syrup, super sweet & very addictive. The Bombay falooda kulfi was the perfect icy dessert to finish a big meal & a textural delight. We also sampled a range of cocktails & mocktails & I couldn’t resist my favourite mango lassi.

The staff at Mukka were so friendly & efficient and did an incredible job feeding our huge table of hungry bloggers. The food was impressive & I loved the interior & atmosphere. Thanks so much for having us.

Mukka has always been a favourite of mine so I was excited to attend a blogger night that showcased some of their best dishes

We started with Ghobi ( cauliflower ) this was coated in an amazing spice blend, so flavourful. The chicken tikka was another dish that I love at Mukka, it has a great char flavour whilst still maintaining its moisture inside- a really well executed dish.

The tandoori mushroom which is something I have not tried before was probably my favourite! This was just the right amount of spice for me however I did see around the table that many others found this quite spicy !

The butter chicken here was one of the better ones I have tried- I did find it a little too creamy but the sauce and the chicken inside was still delicious regardless and very addicting

The palak paneer is a dish that I love so much due to my love of cheese, the spinach and cheese combo is a no brainer in any cuisine and the one here is done very well. The cheese is bitey and holds its shape whilst the spinach curry has just enough spice to amplify the flavours but not mask the spinach taste

The last curry was the Slow cooked goat curry, the meat was extremely tender and the flavours was like a smack in your mouth ( in a good way) – loved this one probably the most !

All of these delicious curries was served with biryani, rice , naan and garlic naan. The garlic naan was fluffy and had a lot of garlic on top – so good !

By the time desserts came , I had to give it a pass.

Thanks for having me Mukka!

Mukka is legit Indian food goals. I didn't have one bad dish and the cocktails were that good I went H.A.M on them. Entree must have was the spiced fried cauliflower (Gobhi 65) & the tandoori mushrooms. I literally couldn't go past the butter chicken for main but special mention to the slow cooked goat curry which fell off the bone and into my mouth.

Thoroughly enjoyed and will be back to face plant into the garlic naan.

After dining at Mukka, I can definitely say that it is my new favourite Indian restaurant as of today. The service here are exceptional as well as the food.
For entrees, we got gobi 65 (quick-fried cauliflower), tandoori mushroom and chicken tikka (my favourite). For mains, we got plain & garlic naan (best eaten hot), biryani, butter chicken (my personal favourite), palak paneer (spinach curry), slow cooked goat curry (melts in mouth). And for desserts, we got bombay falooda kulfi and gulab jamun (indian donut). That gulab jamun were so good and yummy, it’s a must get dessert dish. The non-alcoholic drinks were so nice and refreshing too, Iced Chai and Rose & Cinnamon Cooler.
Overall, a great dinner experience, it’s like teleporting myself back in the street of India as you can really taste the homemade with love. Highly recommended!

What a great little Indian restaurant with a cool vibe and an interior that takes you half a world away from its Brunswick Street locale. Mukka has built quite a fan base in its three years of operations and the crowds were evidence of this when we turned up to try out the menu in a balmy Monday night.

We started our dining with a couple of refreshing beverages. Kellie chose the Rose and Cinnamon cooler, made with almond milk, and she enjoyed this sweet drink which had a delightful rose fragrance. I chose a Mango lassi and opted for the grown up version of having it served with a coconut rum. These bright drinks were a perfect accompaniment to the heat of the food and the coconut rum in the Mango Lassi was just perfect

For starters we had the Gobi 65, these crunchy florets were brightly red coloured and very moorish. The sweet cauliflower flavour shined through and each bite finishes with an awesome spiced crunch. For something different we opted for the Tibetan Momos (Dumplings) filled with finely cut cabbage and potato served with chutney. We should have eaten these straight away and starved the camera a little as they cooled down quickly.

Our other starter was the Tandoori Mushroom skewers. Drizzled with fresh lemon these succulent babies packed a little heat, they were very easy to eat and accompanied by coriander chutney. I don’t normally choose mushrooms but I’m glad Kellie insisted... yum.

For main we went with the Chicken tikka Marsala (the menu mentions its “butter chickens” spicier big brother). The chicken was tender and succulent with a real spicy heat for our palates, the intense rich sauce delivered on flavor and we scooped it up with the light and flakey naan bread and didn’t stop until we thought we just couldn’t possibly fit anymore in.

We were wrong, we had an eating break then decided to squeeze in a dessert, the Gulab Jamun. These Indian donuts were served piping hot in a wonderful sweet syrup with a touch of cardamom and rose.  The donuts were like a dense sponge and soaked up the glorious juices and took on a old fashioned pudding texture but with more bite.

Thanks so much for inviting us in to dine. We would come back in a second.

Will come back for:
+ Bhel Puri
+ Garlic Naan
+ Chicken Tikka
+ Tandoori Mushroom
+ Slow Cooked Goat Curry

I really love the Indian street food that this place serves. The Bhel Puri was the perfect entree; light, sour, fresh, crunchy and tangy. Great to get the juices going in the mouth. The chicken tikka was perfectly cooked, succulent and the flavours bright. And the tandoori mushroom was spicy, a flavour explosion with a hint of sour that is lovely. The slow cooked goat curry was super tender and falls off the bone, and the garlic naan a perfect vehicle to soak in the curry. The chicken biryani had a generous portions of chicken in it, and the rice super fragrant. Everything was served temperature hot, and flavours all dance on the tongue. I thought the desserts (kulfi and gulab jamun) were a bit too sweet - I personally prefer my desserts lighter on sugar - but that is just me. Service was friendly and efficient. This is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in Melbourne for sure and we will definitely be back!

I wanted to write a review of this place as soon as I finished dining. A small restaurant with vibrant atmosphere and very friendly staff. We were a group of 5 and hence we had the chance to order a good mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.
We ordered chicken tikka, Gobi 65 , pav bhaji and paneer tikka for starters. Everything was delicious. Special mention to chicken tikka as it was so moist and flavourful.
For mains we had ordered banana leaf fish fry, veg biriyani, butter chicken and naan. Again we weren’t disappointed. Everything was just superb.

The banana leaf fry is a must try. For desserts we ordered kulfi and gulab jamun. It was the perfect finish to a perfect dinner.

Service : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It was very busy. I ordered a garlic naan and the waiter forgot it but at the end he apologized and didn't charge me the naan.
Ambience : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good ambience

Wow. Seriously wow. Their butter chicken is the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. It is without a doubt the best I have ever had, it has ruined all other butter chickens for me. Heaps of flavour, but not to the point of being overwhelming. Mix that with their rice which is incredibly light on the stomach and it’s amazing.

Nice place, very little choice in mains for vegetarians so we ordered ended up ordering other dishes. Our favourite was eggplant dosa and tandoori mushroom. Not fond of the lassi, wasn’t up to the mark. Enjoyed jalebi with ice cream. In all we had a good time and food was great too!

This place is a winner. Do yourself a favour and eat in or pick up as the price rises significantly(as with all meals) if ordered on Ubereats. The restaurant is really sweet, adorned by orange flowers and very laid back. This is consistently good Indian food. Clean, honest, no frills. Recommend the biryani and chicken tikka masala with raita. Grab some naan too. Delicious. The lamb chops are sooooo yum! Good was hot and fresh. Have been a few times and will keep going back. Thumbs up from me.

Mukka has beautiful Indian food! I especially loved the garlic nan, goat curry, chicken masala and the curried lamb chops. The place gets very busy so make sure you go early to await waiting for a table as they don’t book for small tables. I would 100% recommend this place 👍🏻

Came here on a Saturday night, but just in time because it definitely gets busy.

I ordered the Dosa with the smokey eggplant and pea filling. It came with three different accompaniments - a curried vegetable chutney (sambar dal), coconut chutney, and an orange sauce (not sure of the actual name). Okay, so the actual dosa was delicious and I loved the filling. The eggplant and peas were very flavourful mixed in with the spices and when eating it with the pancake. I wished there was more of that filling though because it is only in the middle. The pancake itself has a semi-bland but has smokey flavour to it; however the texture was nice.

Enjoyed the sambar dal and the coconut chutney (wished there was more of that) too. The chutney added a nice mild and creamy texture to the dish which was nice; however it wasn't very "coconut". The orange sauce had a distinct smokey flavour, but that was it. I was a bit disappointed with that one.
When you put all the elements together, it all tastes great though! and for the price ($13.50) it's a filling and reasonable meal.

My friend had the Lamb Saag ($19.50) and said it was nice - but that was it.

It does get very loud and can be hard to hear; but the waiters/waitresses are lovely and I found that the food comes out relatively quick. I would like to return to try some of their drinks but that's about it.

Great food good location.
Had chicken tikka , momos in starters both were good in taste and quantity.
Ordered slow cooked mutton , dal and mutter paneer in main course, again quantity was good and so was the taste.
However, breads served here are quite large in size, so be very careful while ordering them.
Finding parking could be tricky, tram 11 goes directly to the place.
Cheers.

Delicious Indian food! What a feast from curries to momo. We ordered 3 curries, 2 biriyani, 4 naan (beware it’s actually 8 large pieces), baked fish, momo (dumplings), lamb cutlets and a cocktail jug.

My favourite was the fish it was juicy and tasty. Definitely a must order item. The curries were tasty and had a good kick to it. You must definitely order the garlic naan as it is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and with all that curry sauce you will definitely need it.

No complaints about the food, real tasty! A bit of warning about the spice of the tikka masala wouldn't have gone astray! Nothing a bit of Raita/refill of our water couldn't have fixed if only the staff returned once they dropped off our meals...
Our starters never came out (actually thankfully as I was full to the brim after the giant eggplant dosa and giant Garlic naan) but we could've mentioned it to them had they paid us any attention, yes it was busy, but I don't think any excuse for being forgotten about.
The girl was apologetic once I mentioned it at the end, but had no idea, and didn't offer any compensation. Wrapping up - good food, not great service in this instance.

This place has a lovely calm and tranquil atmosphere with a modern Indian edge. The staff were courteous and nice and catered to our requests. The food tasted fresh and was above average and delivered on taste and the menu had good vegan and vegetarian options. The only thing that I could have asked for was more spice and possibly fresh herbs like a coriander garnish. Staff did extend their opening hours so we could get our food to takeaway.

Mukka was our dinner destination for a family members birthday. Upon learning this I instantly jumped on Zomato to see what my fellow reviewers had to say. I was pleasantly surprised to hear we could be on a winner! As many wrote raving reviews, needless to say I had high hopes.

The moment I entered cheerful decor instantly lifted my spirits, tastefully decorated and bursting with personality it’s easy to see why it’s a favourite for so many. The vibe alone makes you want to stay.

Majority of our dishes were the bomb.com. The goat curry was my only disappointment, as I was expecting the fall off the bone melt in your mouth delight (as explained on Mukka’s menu) I lucked out only received a chewy tough piece, flavours were still fab. The butter chicken and onion bhaji were my favourites for the night. My drink of delectable rose and cinnamon lassi was soft and delicate and helped cool my tastebuds from some of the spicer dishes.

I’m a fan and can’t wait to take others to this spot to share the love!

Mixed feelings. Started with the original lassi which was quite nice, but the pav bhaji was disappointing as there were large chunks of potato in the bhaji rather than it being all nicely mashed up. Our next dish however, the banana leaf fish fry with two idlis was the highlight of the meal. The fish was juicy with a delicious, slightly spicy marinade and I would consider coming back for this dish alone. We also ordered the chicken and paneer tikkas which were not bad, and the falooda kulfi to finish which is a little sweet for my tastes.

The Good: We went on a Saturday night, the place smelt and looked great and was packed. We left our number and got a text within 20 mins to come take our seats. The service was hilarious, the guy who served us wasn't short of comedic flare.

The Bad: the food was really good but wasn't exceptional. It takes a modern approach on Indian food which is all well and good but I felt it was a little bland and had flavours I wouldn’t expect in an Indian dish.

Mukka is a cool bright Indian eatery that reminds me of Punjab with its colourful kites, rangoli designs on the edges of its tables and steel plates and glasses.

Mukka tries to steer away from being the typical noerh Indian restaurants you find across Australia by introducing South Indian dishes like the classic masala dosa, uttapam, idli to its menu. It also innovates with dishes like eggplant in dosa (unheard of) and Matar paneer with the choice of tofu, Palakkad paneer with tofu as an option. It also has limited street Indian options like bhel puri and samosas

I wanted my Colombian friend to have the authentic Indian experience. He had only had dhaal, butter chicken, biryani and chicken tikka masala in the past.

We got the classic masala dosa which is a massive crepe with mushy potatoes cooked with onion and mustard seeds, coconut chutney and thick sambar. The sambar is the way north Indians make sambar. Instead of being watery it's quite dry. But it reminded me of the way my mum made sambar at home. The potatoes are not spicy. And my friend loved this dish as he said Colombians love their potatoes. I thought it was ok. It didn't taste like authentic South Indian dosa. But very delicate and home style tasting.

The chicken biryani came in an earthen pot. We asked for spicy and it was. You could taste the green in the chopped chilli. It was so hot that all I could taste was the smoky flavour and spice. I don't know which spice mukka used but it was the same spice in the Matar paneer. I expected the Matar paneer to be spicy as we asked for it to be but it lacked the tomato flavour that is customary to Matar paneer. It was addictively spicy and I wiped the bowl clean. The garlic naan is massive. The biggest I've seen. So definitely value for money.

The matar paneer had this spice that I couldn't quite place. I couldn't taste the usual onion, garam masala and cumin in it. I liked how it was different to anything I had ever tasted. It's definitely a spice home ground by mukka. So unique.

The kufli falooda was disappointing. It was chopped pieces of kulfi floating in rose syrup with chirongi, chia and falooda. The chia was a bad idea. So weird. Couldn't taste the pistachio.

And after all of that bill was a mere 52 bucks. What a bargain. I'm going back. Service is quick and friendly.

Atmosphere was buzzing- even on a rainy Thursday night- but it was not so loud you couldn't be heard, giving the place a great vibe.

The service was impeccable, friendly and very attentive and the front of house was very on the ball.

The food was fantastic, a very extensive menu to choose from so I will certainly be back to try some more from it. Played it safe with the chickpea curry (a good old favourite) which did not disappoint with many layers of spice and flavour with every bite. We did branch out to try a goat curry but be aware of the bones when eating (especially the small ones). The entrees were also lovely, the samosa crispy and the momos delicious ! Everything was a winner.

EDIT: the Gobi 65 is an absolute must along with the bharta and aloo baingan curries (both with eggplant). I think these dishes will be part of my regular order from now on !

I would recommend coming here on an empty stomach because there is so much on this menu that is worth trying, or alternatively, make this place a staple for good Indian food like I will be and come back again and again.

It’s been about five months since I left the shores of Australia for a new life in Europe. I haven’t forgotten my final meal, which was a stellar performance. Mukka Indian Restaurant made for a perfect sendoff. This ended up being my favourite Indian meal of the ones I ended up having in Melbourne. Delicious flavours, delivered fuss-free and without an eye-watering price. Mukka won the Time Out Best Cheap Eat a few years back, but even more importantly they were long-held favourites for my Indian friends. These guys know their way around a curry and so do the folk at Mukka. Even the seating felt South Indian, we were a little toasty next to the kitchen. The heat levels in the food were more soothing. Mukka delivers top notch curries, fluffy naan and flavourful chicken tikkas. We ended up ordering an extra two times (!) as we couldn’t get enough – even my friend’s toddler (notoriously hard to please) was a decided fan. You can bet it’s on my list for when I’m back but make sure you pop them a visit if you’re there!

Been to Mukka a few times now. I have to say it is by far the most authentic Indian food I've eaten in Australia. My favourites would be their bhel puri(the flavours are amazing!), paneer tikka and garlic naan. The gobi 65 is really tasty as well. The curries are very good too, probably the chicken tikka masala scores higher than the butter chicken. The only dish I've eaten and not liked is their jalebi.. it didn't have enough syrup at all and tasted more like jahangir :/
Be prepared to wait a while on weekend nights because annoyingly and not unusually, they don't take bookings for groups under 6. Once you get to the table though, the service is attentive enough and they roll out the food pretty fast.

The Indian region where the food is from is a little different to what might be familiar for some e.g. No Vindaloo but what is on offer is tasty and interesting. I would highly recommend the Tibetan momos which are like an Indian dumpling. The chickpea 'sauce' that comes with it is awesome. Paneer tiki well worth a try as well. Spicy and flavourful. Busy atmosphere and friendly service. Walk in only. My roti was a little underdone but this did not detract from an enjoyable experience that I hope to repeat soon

You know you're in a Terrific restaurant when its food takes you on a culinary journey to three different cities in one meal - on this particular occasion, it was Bombay, Pune and Kerala!

One of my favourite pastimes is taking myself out for lunch (yes I know that may across as slightly narcissistic) and so I made my way to Mukka one fine Sunday afternoon:) I'd been meaning to try this restaurant for a while now because of all the good things I'd heard about it and when I checked out their menu - I was mighty impressed! Because it had everything the south Indian in me craved for and more!

Though it seemed quite unassuming on the outside, as I stepped in, I was immediately charmed by its old - school - Bollywood demeanour! Bright pops of colour everywhere but not a way which becomes a sore to the eye! Mukka has a warm, welcoming and lively vibe to it.

I ordered the "Rose and cinnamon Lassi" to start with. Lassi is a yogurt based drink - this one was light, not too sweet and very refreshing. I really liked the touch of dried rose petals as a garnish!

For entrée I had the Bhel Puri - it was just the right Balance of sweet, sour and spice! It was a combination of potato, peanuts and onion mixed through with mint chutney and tamarind, tied together with refreshing pops of sweet acidity from the pomegranate!

I had the "Iddiyappam" for main. "Iddiyappam" is the Indian word for "String Hopper's". A dish which is particularly close to my heart as it was one of my favourite south Indian meals while growing up.
The String Hopper's were served with a fragrant coconut milk based stew consisting of a medley of vegetables. It was both sweet and spicy (from the green chillies) - but not too spicy that it took away from the flavour of coconut milk that I so love in a good Kerala style stew! The String Hopper's themselves were soft and well seasoned.

For dessert I had their Gulaab Jamun with vegan vanilla ice cream - the Jamuns were lovely and light! Not too sweet and they just melted in the mouth!

A fabulously delicious meal overall:)

Service was really good! Warm, friendly and efficient!:)

I can't wait to go back for another meal! Though I am on a diet at the moment, but hey Mukka is worth breaking any diet for! 😊

Lassi was yum. 😋 More vegetarian options should be introduced- especially with the thali - it should be more flexible for vegetarians- or at least have popular dishes like dal+paneer or malai kofta. When dining out, not a lot of people want to eat baingan 😒 south Indian is not good here.

My first time trying Mukka and it was via UberEats so it was a more limited menu. Ordered the spinach and chickpea curry, butter chicken, garlic naan, samosas and steamed rice. I'm not vegan or vegetarian but the chickpea and spinach curry was really exceptional, spicy yet mellow at the same time and felt somehow restorative. The butter chicken was pretty classic, just lightly spiced and a little sweet and very silky and creamy with tender pieces of thigh from the tandoor. The samosas seemed to be spiked with a little fresh green chilli. My only complaint - which is probably pretty subjective - is the garlic naan wasn't very garlicky and wasn't at all buttery (gheey) as I've come to expect so it wasn't as tasty, and was a little doughy, but great to use for mopping up the butter chicken. Looking forward to dining in at Mukka as the menu seems to be much more extensive and with South Indian leanings.

Food: I've been looking for a restaurant for the past 10 years in Melbourne that could make Kachhi biryani (one pot cooking). This type of biryani is difficult to master. Have I found the place this time? I think the answer is yes! Biryani tasted fabulous. The lamb and the rice were cooked to perfection and the quantity was just right for one person. Rice had no extra colour added to it like you usually find in other restaurants. I think I could see original saffron colour in the rice but it was subtle. Little bit of flavour could be added to the biryani just to push your rating to 5.

Service: service was good. Food was not brought to our table in a hurry and was served hot.

Seating comfort: A bit cramped and there could be more space between the tables.

Hands down favourite Indian restaurant for us!! Best goat curry we've had - it's our favourite Indian dish and these guys do it so perfectly well. Tender, juicy and fall off the bone meat. Flavour of curry is not overly intense like a lot of other restaurants so you can actually appreciate what the flavour and texture goat meat is all about! Everything else we ordered was so good, would be happy to come back and reorder the same but can't wait to try the rest of the menu. I love the set up of this place. Colourful wall graffiti art and so vibrant, yet intimate, fits right into the area. Young friendly service with (I'm guessing!) the mother directing the kitchen so smoothly. Highly recommended! Very busy - we came just before 6:30 on a Saturday night and got seated straight away. People waiting for tables by the time we left.

Nice food, big flavours, good service! We went here for a dinner last night and we quite enjoyed it. Samosa was delicious, the coriander dip that came with it too. Butter Chicken was creamy, spicy and yummy! Garlic Naans were fresh, crispy and soft. We weren't that keen on Spinach & Chick Pea curry, but nothing was wrong with the food - we just preferred the Butter Chicken. Nice Indian-inspired cocktail list too!

One of our favourite Indian restaurants in Melbourne, Mukka delivers Indian cuisine like you have never tasted before by treating guests to authentic Indian cuisine just the way it’s done in India. We loved re-visiting Mukka and continuing to discover the menu. . As far as cocktails go, these guys have it down pat. For an interesting take on the traditional, we love their mango lassi with coconut rum cocktail. It doesn't always appear on the menu or specials board, but it's always available! Try it, you'll love it.

Oh my goodness, we have probably just tried the best Indian food we have ever eaten. The world actually needs to know about this place! hahaha

Out of all the dishes we ordered here, our top picks would definitely be the butter chicken, lamb curry, the naans and the chicken tikka. (Although if you order pretty much anything that you think you’d like - it will be real tasty.) Love how this place is family run and love that they focus on using quality ingredients.

Will most definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for a good Indian feast!

Hey guys, sorry it’s been so long between posts, but after 7 years of doing this I think I just ran out of steam at the end of last year. Work was taking over, the time and love I had to dedicate to editing and writing was disappearing, and honestly, I’m sometimes a bit jaded with the direction food blogging has taken.

The best indian restaurant in melbourne! Naan bread is buttery lathered with fresh garlic. Basmati steamed rice is beautiful and clean. Chicken Tikka Masala was great for the spicy lovers. Wasn’t a big fan of the onion bhaji, didn’t taste as fresh and not much filling, there was more batter than filling. The original dosa was quite tasty with the three different dips.
Drinks are great! Love their Mango lassi and their iced chai with rum! The butter chicken is to die for, the only thing we looked forward to.
Staff are lovely.
Can get quite pricey which stops us from coming very often.
Take your lover, friends or family here, even your indian friend!

The ambiance taste and wait staff at this place was really great. The meals came out quick and everything tasted really good. Especially the eggplant dish. The only real downside is the serving size. The butter chicken was maybe a third of a regular normal size you would expect a any restaurant and it cost $18... increase the servings sizes and this place would be a winner

Walked in at sat night. Ordered lamb chop (delish but lukewarm), the Tibetan momos are very interesting Indian dumplings. Chicken teka masala go really well with their naan bread. Also the biriyani is must order! Mango lasi taste more like ice blend smoothies but I like the ginger taste of it very unique. Not to mention their gorgeous portion size! Prepare might need to drink lots of water after😂 a nice new style Indian place👍 will be back😋

I am a regular at Mukka and its about time I tell everyone about this awesome restaurant, I have eaten at majority of Indian restaurants in Melbourne. Mukka is definitely on top of the list.

The restaurant has a relaxed vibe and music is not intrusive. The menu has options for both vegans and meat lovers. My favourite is Kerala fish with Dahl and Goat Curry.

If you don’t want to have a full meal, Mukka offers a lot of small options that go well with a chai or cocktail from their well presented cocktail menu.

Highly recommended.

Massive call, but I'm standing by it; Mukka is THE BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN MELBOURNE. At least in my opinion. So many vegan options it was an arduous task to avoid ordering every single vegan dish on the menu.

I've never had saag paneer substituting tofu for cheese (obviously not super traditional) except when I've experimented with making it myself. Mukka's rendition is one of the best things I've put in my face all year. The same can be said for everything else I sampled; the bhel puri - puffed rice with tomato, cucumber, potato, pomegranate, tamarind and spices, the smokey eggplant bharta, the Tibetan cabbage momo which were inhaled in seconds, the light, crispy masala dosa with perfectly tempered potatoes and coconut sambal, the yoghurt-free tandoori mushrooms and almond milk based rose/cinnamon and mango/pistachio lassis to finish were all OUTSTANDING.

This is a sentiment shared by both the boyfriend and my old man, both of whom (unlike myself) have travelled extensively across the subcontinent, thus exposing them to an abundance of "the real deal". I've always been a harsh critic of Indian food because I prefer southern dishes (light, very heavy on chilli) rather than the more-popular-with-whitey rich, creamy northern style dishes, so I do tend to get irrationally excited when I come across things like dosa (and medu vada, which is probably my favourite Indian snack; if only Mukka would add them to their selection!) on a menu, though I'd probably have more luck if I ventured out into the suburbs where there's a larger ethnic community rather than confining myself to the inner north.

Writing this review is actually making me salivate, it's a good thing (or bad, in the case of my bank account) that Mukka also delivers via ubereats. COME AT ME, INDIAN DELICIOUSNESS!

I quite like this place! We had butter chicken and lamb biryani with a side of mango archaar. Their servings are huge and food is really tasty. Butter chicken wasn't too sweet or buttery with just the right amount of flavours! The lamb was cooked nicely and was really soft. I did however think that the biryani could have been abit more spicy but overall food is great will definitely come back!

Overall the experience at mukka was average. We ordered momos (Tibetan dumplings), butter chicken, mamosa, dosa, spicy lamb chops, matar paneer, garlic naan, plain naan, Roti and a mango cooler.

The momos weren't that great. They were dry and not moist. The sauce that went with the momos didn't help highlight any flavours either.

The butter chicken was quite good, but I've had better from local Indian cafes.

The matar paneer was good within the first three bites but got sickening afterwards as it was quite rich and creamy (personally I can't handle very rich and creamy foods).

The mamosa. By itself, it was alright. With the sauces, it highlighted the flavours and the spices.

The dosa was interesting. I've never had one before and it was my first time. I'm not sure what to think of it. I definitely need to try another dosa again to get a feel of it but overall it was an enjoyable experience.

The spicy lamb chops were really good. The spices were all there and the chops were juicy and succulent. Definitely would recommend getting this if you go there.

The naans were rather good. But they're naans, you can't go wrong with them. The Roti however wasn't that great. But that's just because I'm not digging a whole meal Roti.

The drink however, the mango cooler, was really good. Definitely recommend. If you're not feeling like a mango lassi and something lighter then definitely go for the mango cooler. It wasn't too rich and creamy, it's just right. The mango wasn't overpowering either.

The service overall was okay. The waiter didn't look too pleased, but it looked like there was only one waiter and I wouldn't blame her as it was a full house on the night.

Would I come back here again? Probably not. The price for what you pay is rather expensive and the foods weren't outstanding. You're probably better going to local or small Cafes where the foods are more authentic and memorable.

Mukka is different from your typical Indian restaurants. The most prominent difference - the overall atmosphere and vibe of the place. Small touches to the place such as paper origami flowers, artwork on walls and block prints on the table give it a completely different feel compared to the other Indian restaurants out there. Coming down to the food, the serving size of the starters is value for money. For drinks, I tried the mango lassi and rose cinnamon lassi. The consistency of the mango lassi was very thick, I will forgive them for that as the only place I've had the perfect mango lassi in Melbourne was at Om Vegetarian. The rose cinnamon lassi however was a winner, offering diverse and pungent flavours. Coming down to the curries, I was a little disappointed in terms of authentic flavours, which is okay as you can tell by the vibe of the menu and place, Mukka attempts a western twist. Overall, Mukka is worth a visit. Keep in mind, this place is very busy on weekends and there can be a wait of up to 15-20 mins.

Dec’17 - went to have dinner at the restaurant this time. Shared the butter chicken (with free range chicken!), goat curry, garlic naan, charts, rice and a salad. After waiting for about 30 minutes the waiter came to tell us something went wrong with our order and it didn’t go through to the kitchen. The re-took or order. It would’ve been nice if they offered us a drink to make up for it.
The food was very nice except for the Bhakti. I couldn’t even taste the eggplant in it. The waitress said it was her favourite, so maybe it wasn’t as good as normally. Bill was $99 for 3 people incl two drinks and we were very full!

Jun’16 - Ordered food at Mukka after a tip from a friend. We used Deliveroo with a discount code which made it good value ($15 off). The delivery came about the time that it was expected (about 40 minutes after ordering). We ordered the goat curry, chicken marsala and two samosa's. When it arrived we thought the portions were quite small, but what we didn't realise is that we didn't get any rice. Prices are high to exclude the rice. We quickly cooked some rice ourselves. All the food was fairly spicy. The samosa's weren't that great. The curry's were nice. The curry's come in compostable containers, which I think is awesome! Wouldn't mind trying again, but the food hasn't completely convinced me.

The butter chicken was very sweet, fragrant, and rich without being overwhelming. It paired beautifully with the equally fragrant and garlicky naan bread. Owner Prateek mentioned that the dish almost didn’t make the menu given that it’s one of those ‘overdone’ dishes but they ended up making the right call to include it; it’s a popular dish for a reason and Mukka’s take is the best butter chickens I’ve tasted.

Firstly I am not overly well versed in the Indian cuisine, I have had both good and bad experiences but I truly have not tried enough to know what's out there around Melbourne.

Ordered butter chicken and the spinach/lamb curry for a takeaway feed last night with some garlic nan bread. I was told 40minuets and it should be ready, I arrived 40 minuets on the dot as I was hungry AF only to be left waiting another 20 minuets. Must admit I was a little "Hangry" about the situation. But once getting the food home and in my belly I found it was probably worth the wait as it was delicious. Portion sizing was perfect for my girlfriend and I.

If you make me wait 20 mins longer than advised for a take away and I am still more than happy to come back you're chef has done something right! Would recommend to anyone with a hankering for Indian.

The goat curry was delicious! Super tender and falling off the bone. The mango lassi was yummy too. The chat items were very nice and authentic. The veggie dishes- chickpea and spinach and the dal was very dry and gluggy. So that could use some improvement. The dessert falooda was way too sweet and the basil seeds were all clumped together. Easily some of the best Indian food going around at the moment in Melbourne.

Two brothers behind Mukka are bringing their mother's traditional Indian recipes to life - and we say, it's one place you have to try.

If you haven't been to India, Mukka will take you there with their food that is bursting with flavour, colour, tradition and family inspiration. The guys wanted to bring you what they remember growing up and eating with their family and on the streets of New Delhi - and they've got it in the bag.

What did we try?
• Samosa
• Tandoori mushrooms
• Spicy Lamb chops
• Smokey Eggplant and pea dosa
• Slow cooked goat curry (standout!!)
• Garlic Naan
• Mango Lassi
And the Bombay Falooda Kulfi!

The atmosphere, decor and service is unquestionably great. But we all know it comes down to food and Mukka will have you coming back for more!

We went to Mukka in Fitzroy on Brunswick St, really cool looking interior, the first thing I noticed was the really cool art work on the walls, mad vibes.

Because I've never had Indian before, I had no idea what to order so I let the owner Prateek, choose for me.

We had garlic naan, butter chicken, slow cooked goat curry, some sort of Indian dumpling and a salad. (I can't remember the names of those)

The food came out so quick, within the 10 minutes we ordered, which was fantastic because I was getting hangry. The food tasted so amazing, so many flavours, the garlic naan and the curry sauces together was so bomb that I rekon I could eat it for the rest of my life srs.

Hands down the best Indian I've ever had!! The food here is absolutely amazing. Don't bother looking further down Brunswick street, Mukka is where you need to go. We've been several times (and had takeaway delivered) and been thoroughly impressed every single time. To be honest I didn't know that Indian could be this tasty.

The butter chicken is miles better than any curry I've had, the chicken is great quality and the sauce so so tasty! The aloo chat and bhel puri are so flavoursome I can't even begin to imagine all the spices that go into it. And the Tibetian Momos are a flavour sensation. Don't forget the pea rice it is amazing with the butter chicken.

The place is fitted out really nicely and the staff are always very friendly. Do yourself a favour and go and enjoy some really tasty and extremely well priced food!!

For an Indian restaurant with a difference you ought to pay this contemporary little place in midst of fitzroy food hub a visit. The location, interiors and decor give this joint a fabulous vibrance. Its nothing like a usual indian eatery and thats what sets it apart. Although the seating may get you a tad bit crowded at first but don't let that get to you cause the mouthwatering aroma of indian curries and finally the food itself pretty much makes up for this. The waiting time was a bit longer than expected which left us drooling for quite a bit but once our order arrived with a pot of butter chicken tandoori rotis and garlic naans, we knew we made the right choice! They even have some desi style cocktails up the counter if you'd like and the starters look promising too. Although their prices do lean towards the higher side but its a good place to dig in once in a while. Wishing the owners good luck! :)

This place is easily the best Indian I've eaten and I should be biased with an Indian family background. Sure it's not cheap, but why pay $13 for 3 pieces of chicken in wet curry when you could pay $18 for a deliciously thick and tasty curry from Mukka? Note to owners: as long as you guys keep the same recipe and passion for food I'll keep coming back! 🎩

My friend and I ordered 4 different things to share and each and every one of the dishes were great. The eggplant dosa was crispy and came with delicious coconut chutney and Dahl. The momo were tasty as was the chaat. The stand out for me was the Bahl Puri- sweet, salty, crunchy, fresh. All the things! To top it off we also had the jug of gingerbeer, vodka, pomegranate and lime drink.

Left there full and happy and for only $30 each. Would happily recommend this new Brunswick street restaurant to anyone that wants to listen. Service was great too! Also had great music playing. Yay Mukka!

Excited about the addition of an Indian restaurant in Brunswick Street. On the plus side, flavours are good, decor nice. On the down side, just too expensive for the serving sizes. Could only order 'single' served of rice which was both pricey and way too small. Frustratingly, when we ordered the waiter seemed unable to tell us whether one rice serve would suffice for two curries - it didn't even come close.

That said, the place is relative new and has potential, and service is otherwise good. My advice: keep up the flavours, get s little less stingy on the servings of the curries and rice and this place will do okay.

On Monday I had the pleasure of heading to Mukka in
Brunswick to give their menu a try, and boy was I impressed. I either have not
being eating Indian food properly in my life prior to this, or Mukka is
completely and utterly amazing. I think we will go with the latter.

Tucked away on the busy Brunswick Street, Mukka is a fresh
and trendy new addition to the strip. With eye catching graffiti wall art,
gorgeous succulents floating around and traditionally decorated Indian tableware,
Mukka is definitely inviting. They also have a VERY open kitchen, you can
pretty much see everything that is going on in there which I absolutely love. For
a restaurant that has only been open for 2 months, I was impressed by how
packed it was by 7pm.
To begin, mum and I got a Lassi each. What a perfect match
for Indian food! The milk helped to cool down our mouths for the feast we were
about to devour. Mum had the mango with pistachios and coconut rum and I had
the rose and cinnamon with vodka.
Next, we had the ‘Bhel Puri’, which is cold, crunchy and
light. It is made from puffed rice, Bombay mix and mylon sec tossed with pomegranate,
tomato, onion, tamarind and mint. Probably one of the most refreshing, textual
heavens I have ever tasted, this is a must.

Then, we tried the Tibetan Momos, which are dumplings which
originated up high in the moutains, filled with finely chopped cabbage and
potato, served with a chilli sauce. This were incredible too.

Now on to the curries. We couldn’t make up our minds between
the butter chicken (my fav) and the goat curry. So, we got both, of course!!
The butter chicken – out of this world, best I have ever tasted. Yep. I said
it. Goat – to my surprise it came in very close to the BC. Sort of like lamb
but less intense, definitely worth a try if you are game. It is slowly cooked
for a minimum of 4 hours in a tomato and onion gravy to ensure the goat is
cooked until the meat falls off the bone. It is then garnished with fresh coriander.
YUM. With this we got the garlic nan (duh) which was bloody amazing too. So
good that I wanted to take it home and toast it up for breakfast.

Mukka is the perfect addition to the Brunswick Street strip
and I cannot wait to go back for more!

We tried their new banquet style menu and the food was delicious- only problem was there was too much! The chicken tikka was perfect and lamb chop delicious. A great selection of curries followed and all were amazing. Would recommend this restaurant and will definitely be coming back! Thanks for a great dining experience!

I've been searching for a good Indian place all over Fitzroy and finally came across Mukka. As always checked out the reviews on Zomato first before heading over on boxing day. Was pleasantly surprised by the decor of the place, the place has a rustic but calm Indian vibe to it. They had two menus on offer for lunch, a lunch menu and a regular menu. I decided to go for the reguakr menu and got the prawns for starter and then opted for the single serve butter chicken and garlic naan for main course. I thought the masala on the prawns could have been a little bit more spicy but the butter chicken and the naan were very good. The chicken was nicely cooked and the masala was rich! I tried the Jaipur Indian Pale Ale which was on the menu and it didn't dissapoint. The staff was very courteous and the service was great. I personally thought the food was really good but a bit over priced. I totally recommend this place and will visit again for sure!

After reading the amazing online reviews for this place, I was really looking forward to tonight's dinner. Mukka is not your traditional Indian restaurant with it's funky yet warm and inviting decor. Service was warm, attentive, friendly and polite. We went for the aloo chaat, the eggplant dosa and the single serve kerala fish fillet. Our aloo chat was forgotten. The dhal and chutney that came with the eggplant stuffed dosa was delicious. The dosa itself was quite oily though. The fish fillet was cooked to perfection and salad that accompanied it was light and refreshing. However, the complimentary pappadums were drenched in oil and sitting in a puddle of oil. Staff was very apologetic about our forgotten entrees and we'll definitely be back to give them a second chance :3

Since I moved to Melbourne over 4 years ago, I have tried and failed to find a decent butter chicken—until now. Mukka hits it out of the park.  A lot of people think that butter chicken is a so-so dish, but that's because many restaurants do it poorly.  Mukka does butter chicken with complexity and balance that is so moreish I found it hard to put my roti down.

Their single-serve meals are amazing value for money—the butter chicken single-serve comes with a whole roti, and a cucumber salad that is perfect for one person (especially when accompanied by a Hawkers IPA!) and incredible value-for-money at $20. My vegan partner was equally wowed by her single-serve meal—eggplant curry with a massively flavoursome dahl, mango chutney and roti; again, amazing value-for-money at $15 and a perfect serving size. In fact, our meals were a little too much for one person! :D

To top all this off, the service was incredibly friendly and warm, and the ambiance was wonderful—modern yet rustic, and somehow not pretentious. You could take friends here and they would be impressed by the quality, and how low-key but beautiful the place looks.

Been searching Melbourne for good Indian? Go here.

Mukka pronounced as “moo-ka” is a new refreshing addition to Fitzroy on Brunswick St. The Indian restaurant offers a variety of traditional curries, tandoori grills and Indian street food but not as you know it. With a strong emphasis on using fresh ingredients, homemade ground spices and chutneys, Mukka is focused in on creating a new and modern take on what would be considered a traditional Indian dining experience.

The Classic Dosa ($12.5) is a must-try. Cooked evenly to a burnished gold, every inch of the crepe was simultaneously crisp yet soft and chewy. We tore pieces off with our hands and dunked them in the thick, creamy daal, scooping the soft chunks of vegetables into our mouths. Or at least we did, until we hit the pocket of curried potatoes. Cooked to fluffy, airy perfection, the spicy potatoes combined fantastically with the coconut chutney for a hint of nutty sweetness.

The marinated spicy lamb chops are moreishly tasty and pair beautifully with the deliciously hoppy Jaipur Pale Ale and the fresh salad really rounded it out.

Fantastic restaurant by two great guys, with all the class and none of the fuss. All their dishes are made from scratch and the menu is all killer, no filler.

I would recommend their slow-cooked goat curry (tender, fall-off-the-bone goodness) and their tandoori chicken ('nuff said). For vegetarians I'd highly recommend their dosas (stuffed indian crepes), which tend to get overlooked in Indian cuisine but in Mukka's case highly exceeded my expectations - the right balance of flavours and a very filling meal in itself. Not forgetting, saag paneer (stewed spinach with cheese) is one of my favourite Indian dishes, and Mukka's is absolutely heavenly. What Mukka does especially well in are their sauces and chutneys, which are packed with complex, nuanced flavours.

Ambience-wise the theme is somewhere between casual dining and modern chic - which is great if you can't decide what to wear for dinner that night. Check them out and have a chat with the wonderful owners if you get a chance!

Honoring the tradition of Indian spices and cooking techniques from street food to tandoori grill I noticed a refreshingly large range of options for vegans, vegetarians and carnivores (as my friends all have very specific dietary requirements). My favourite dish is freshly made cabbage and potato dumplings called tibitian momos. I could literally overdose on them! I'd recommend the smoked eggplant and pea dosas -served with sambar dal and coconut chutney. The Chicken Tikki (cooked in a  Tandoor oven) was divine as was the freshly made mango lassi - with pistachio with a shot of coconut rum (optional). Authentic desi food only @mukka.fitzroy From Indian street food delicacies to everyday Indian curries to royal Indian food, you will find so many myriad slices and flavours of India @mukka.fitzroy What we had: Pani puri, a favourite street food in India, just pour tamarind, mint and spicy water into the fried puri that is filled with potatoes and chickpeas. The trick is to put the entire thing in your mouth at one go and devour the burst of flavours in your mouth. Strongly recommended. Paneer Tikka, cottage cheese grilled with so many flavours and capsicums. So soft and absolutely mouthwatering. Must try. Butter Chicken, a classic dish nailed with perfection, soft, tender juicy chicken in a creamy, rich and tasty gravy. Such a fantastic Indian curry. Goan Fish curry, mildly spicy but the rich authentic flavours of the coast of Goa have been captured so perfectly through this curry. Simply mouth melting. Cheese naan, crispy, soft and cheesy Indian bread, that goes perfectly with the curries. Pea pulao, a light, hearty and delectable rice with peas, onions and cumin. So delish. Rose and Cinnamon lassi, a sweet, charming rose flavoured lassi which is truly delicious and very refreshing. Masala Chai, relaxing to drink even on hot summer afternoons. Mango Falooda Kulfi, another favourite Indian dessert, which is a summer staple on the streets of India, absolutely refreshing and rich with pistachios and mangoes. Truly addictive in taste. Besides the irresistible food, you will find the decor as loud, vibrant, traditional and yet desi to its very core. Perfect for a gram-worthy shot. The aroma of the burning incense sticks will give you a warm feeling the moment you step in. The service is amazing and the team of owner and staff are such nice, kind and helpful folks. We also enjoyed their Gobi 65 and Oh my god, what flavoursss!! Whether you’re looking for creamy butter chicken or vegetarian Malaii Kofta, you’ll definitely love checking out this amazing place. Their Dal Makhni is to die to for and A buttery garlic naan dipped in it will take you to another world. For the drinks, Mukka and the team behind their Bar, are infusing Indian ingredients into classic cocktails. A whiskey sour takes on royal spice flavours with the infusion of cardamon and clove. A LIIT with old-fashioned Indian Rum infused with ginger Syrup and hinder beer. And the refreshing Mango Lassi is tue Indian goddess of coolers! (Food and cocktails will also be available for takeout and delivery.)

Creative food and mixing tradition with modern flair. Mukka has an amazing atmosphere, with a great fit out matched by really good service. One of the nice modern Indian restaurants in Melbourne. Would like more fusion desserts.
