I love Turkish food! So much flavour, especially at breakfast. Loved our stop at Gutz cafe for breakfast this morning. A cozy spot smack bang on Brunswick Street that has lots of take away options as well as great, very generously portioned dishes for those wanting to dine in. I went for the banana pancakes and definitely wasn’t disappointed, gorgeously fluffy pancakes with a huge dollop of ice cream, caramelised banana and maple syrup. The Anatolian scrambled eggs were an excellent balance to the sweet dish with a halloumi salad and side of olives to go with the eggs and beautiful Turkish bread. Great family friendly spot to stop if you’re in the area and very well priced. Check it out!

Theres a warm family love that you feel walking into this restaurant... All the classics of a local cafe you're after with great lunch and breakfast options without the pretentiousness (remember the old fitzroy 'big breakfasts'? not really for me, but its a dying menu item!) Delicious homemade pastries and sandwiches with an acceptable coffee to match, spark up a chat with the owner! They're very friendly.
Great food and even better coffee! Pam is an absolute delight. Angel is always smiling as you enter the cafe. All sorts of food to pick from and plenty of seating.

Like other places on Brunswick and Smith Streets, this cafe doesn't disappoint. We tried a couple of different poached eggs meals, and the kids split a berry pancakes meal between them. Coffee not too bad but have had better. The meals themselves were inventive, tasty, well executed, and some meals had a Turkish slant, giving it a bit of uniqueness.
I ordered for the girls wild berry pancakes to share. The both responded with lots of "yummy". So definitely a good choice for them.
Can't remember the name of the dish my husband ordered but it was delish. Shame the poached eggs were slightly over done.
For me the Turkish vegetarian dish. It was a nice dish, very filling. But for me, I wouldn't use the combination of minted yoghurt with spinach and onion. However, for somelse it may be a different story. As I said this is just me.
Anyway the service was really friendly and my curiosity has been peaked. I would definitely return to try more.
Venturing around Fitzroy for the great street art and got a bit too late for lunch at 3:30pm it was hard to find a good feed. The staff at the gutz was really nice and friendly, helped us get the best warm food even after the kitchen had already closed for service at that time. The pancake with caramelised pecans and banana was excellent. Latte was nice and smooth and the combination of their chicken focaccia complimented each other. The freshly pressed watermelon juice I think would have been nicer if it had been a bit colder perhaps maybe a few more ice cubes in the drink would be nice. The ambience of the cafe was nice, jazzy music on the background, but the toilet facilities were a bit cramped. Over all, great cafe 👌
Really liked this place, sat outside and had the banana and walnut pancakes w extra bacon on the side. Large portions for a reasonable price and good tasting food!

Nice little cafe in Fitzroy. Came her on a Sunday morning and got a table no worries. Got the banana pancakes which were delicious and the big breakky which was also very good. Fresh juice was well priced and overall experience and service really good
What can I say.. First of all the food at this cafe is amazing, their Turkish menu is so appetising and interesting. We came in a group of 5 on Monday and the service was phenomenal. The staff were keeping busy due to the Spanish festa which didn't effect the service run in the shop! Overall I would recomend anyone and everyone to come and dine here or even have a cake and coffee. Coming back soon. Bon voyage gutz

It's at the more quiet end of Brunswick st so it's normally easy to get a parking spot and walk.
Our office is not far away from here and we have had catering a couple of times and everyone has really enjoyed it.
Prices very reasonable given quality and location ect.
On course to find the most authentic and ideal Turkish breakfast, my culinary journey bought me to Gutz Cafe. Tempting me with the "village breakfast" I was not sure what to expect, particularly considering I have been dissapointed before. On arrival my eyes were salivating, the dish looked superb, and my tastebuds were not left disheartened. It was absolutely delicious. Exactly what I have been searching for. I strongly recommend this cafe, definitely worth it. The staff were very congenial and obliging. A lovely, quaint cafe, a treasure in Fitzroy!

Yummy Brunch. We ordered eggs benedict and two coffees. The coffee was delish. the food and sour was well cooked, served with a great sour dough bread. The price? Very reasonable.. Unpretentious and delicious, we would dine there again.

We had coffee. J (latte): Nice to walk into a shop which wasn't wanky like the rest of Brunswick st.. for once, haha, Coffee was nice. I think that's it.
A (latte + sugar): For me, the highlight was the sippy cups which were very easy to use and delivered the coffee into my belly with great efficiency. The chairs were up to scratch and have my approval, there are enough dumb wanky chairs in Brunswick st [as it is]. Oh, and the coffee was nice too!

Great experience and delicious food. The staff were friendly, informative, helpful and accommodating of my GF requirements. Coffee was delicious and the husband said the Turkish Brekky was one of the best he's ever had. We will love coming back again and again for the excellent food and the service that went above and beyond. I can recommend the chicken, sundried tomato pesto panini. ;-)
I love this place! They've really utilised the space well with seats out the back & out front. The coffee is delicious & I had a simple salad & tuna sandwich - great value & all fresh ingredients! Service was fab, I'll certainly be coming back!
Good serves and decent food. Went for breakfast early Sunday morning. Ordered muesli with fruit and yoghurt along with scrambled eggs and bacon with a side of French toast. Coffee was good as was freshly squeezed juice. Scrambled eggs and bacon were very good with a hearty serve of each. French toast was also good. Muesli was ok with only downside being topped with tinned fruit rather than fresh. Overall good value with the size of the serves. Service was friendly too.
What's in a name?. The name is unappealing but the fare is reliable and the peeps are totes friendly :)
*Licks fingers* YUM!. Had the turkish village breakfast and it was mind blowingly delicious. Tasted super authentic and reminded me of my Papou's cooking! I've been many times and plan to go again and again :)

BEST breakfast. Several different Turkish breakfasts here, and all of them were equally vying for best breakfast ever! Coffee was outstanding, too-- two Melbournians with me said they thought it was the best they'd had in Melbo, whoa.

Perfect Lazy (very late) Brunch. Arrived at 3.30pm on a Sunday, expecting to be turned away...to our surprise we were welcomed by the super friendly waitress, seated right away, drink orders taken almost immediately, food orders shortly after that. The Veggie Breakfast was great value and most importantly absolutely delicious. The banana&walnut pancakes were light & fluffy, with just the right amount of toppings and maple syrup! Will be visiting again soon!
Great food and friendly staff. Recently had brunch here - seriously yum and really nice to find something different on the breakfast menu along with the old standards. Staff were genuinely friendly and the whole place is relaxed and unpretentious. We'll definitely go back.

Just had brekky, awsome. Tried a dish named anatolian scrambled eggs, and had turkish beer with it...These turks have food that send the taste buds crazy. Must try! My sister tried the village brekky and cant stop talking about it. Will be back for sure!
Low-key, relaxing, yum. We stopped in for coffees and breakfast. It's got a nice, low-key ambience - nothing fancy or wanky about it. The coffee came quickly and it was strong. I had fried eggs on sourdough with bacon - the bacon was nicely grilled, the eggs were done perfectly. My partner's Benedict got the thumbs up, too.
Men-a-Men. Guys this place makes one of the best vegetarian breakfasts. It has an unusual name, but it tastes awsome!! I have become a regular there, used to go to Red Tongue, but this place has won me over...Sick smoothies as well...
Great Burgers. Just had a burger and chips (Gutz Burger and Brunswick Street Burger) was amazing. Apparently just got licence to serve alcohol, tried Efes beer, went down a treat for my husband, I had a latte x 3. agree with Hakan, homely feel....Must try.
Breakfast. I just had the best best breakfast in years. We went there with a bunch of friends, and we decided to have the Turkish breakfasts on the menu, and all I have to say is OH MY GOD or should I say MEN - A - MEN. It knocked all of us out. We had to skip lunch its almost dinner time and I am still going strong. Its a really simple yet effective concept at Gutz we loved it...Ohh, and the coffee, a real smooth blend, overall really satisfied...You can tell the owners are the workers, coz they care about everything...that goes on in there...

Wonderful little home made Cafe tucked away on the main street. You might walk by it and you shouldn't. Amazingly fresh made Turkish style breakfasts that are worth the wait.

I had brunch here with two friends. They had the Turkish scrambled eggs, while I had poached eggs with a spicy yoghourt sauce and spinach and onion. Both dishes were tasty and good value. Also on the menu are some non-Turkish dishes like hamburgers. Service was friendly and prompt. Highly recommended.
Best big veggie breakfast in town and they're sock flexible, gluten free bread if you want, swap X for Y so friendly. The price is great considering you will not need another meal for the day!!
The girls at gutz do a great job of keeping things old skool on busy brunswick st. Excellent sandwich bar, strong coffee and non pretentious offerings.
