Review Don't Lose Your Temper - Fitzroy

A friend dragged me here and now I’m addicted. With such a great name how can you not want to come and explore the sweet treats. That along with great service makes for a memorable dining experience. Plus if you have any dietary needs they can be catered for. Seating outside is nice as well on warmer nights. Parking is available on the side streets. Everything is wheelchair friendly. Car parking around Fitzroy and Collingwood can come with challenges so please check you have enough time to find one. Most importantly, the staff are just lovely. Helpful, smiling, chatty, enthusiastic. This is also what makes the experience that much better than other establishments. Well done everyone. I look forward to coming again and again in the future.

Cute place, the staff are super friendly. On a Sunday morning they werent too busy but it sounds like they usually sell out of the more popular items throughout the day. I had a chocolate croissant, a good amount of chocolate to croissant ratio and the croissant was light and fluffy. The coffee was also tasty. I am definitely going back to try the rest of the cakes, they looked amazing!

this new cafe is a bakery and cafe - cakes are baked here and they have fantastic coffee! my ham and cheese croissant did not disappoint, croissant had a sprinkle of sugar on it to compliment the cheese and ham. yougurt was quite nice as well. welcome to the hood!

If you're after the cutest tastiest cakes this side of MasterChef you're in the right place. Coffee is on point and the hot chocolate is a notch above the rest (ask for the dark hot chocolate if you don't like it super sweet). What's little known about here is the wholesale and custom cake and pastry orders - I've seen some great cakes come out of the kitchen for birthdays and they are cracker. Will be back.

DO: The almond croissant. DON'T: Leave without ordering a coffee tea. Great coffee and service. TIP: Sit near the kitchen so you can peek over

Ordered these beauties for a dessert / lolly buffet. They tasted great and we had many compliments on the night. Michael was great with his advice and fantastic to work with. Parking was a little tricky, best advice I have is to park directly opposite the store and walk across at the traffic lights.

Went in for some amazing pastries and toasties on the weekend! Got a delicious coffee. All pastries are a lot cheaper then other pastry shops around Melbourne. The quality was exceptional. Will be coming back regularly.

4.5

As usual, I was in the mood for some sweets and remembered that I have this place bookmarked. Off to the dessert wonderland I went!

Upon entry, I was greeted by a selection of gorgeous and elegant cakes and tarts, decisions decisions! Finally settled on the Carrot Cake, Banoffee Tart and Smoresee-misu. The flavours for all three were beautifully spot on, and there was no mistaking the distinct traits of each of them - the warm spices of a carrot cake, the custardy banana flavour of a banoffee, and the coffee hit of a tiramisu. The crust of the Banoffee Tart was the only thing that I didn't quite enjoy as it was a bit dry and crumbly.

I enjoyed my dirty chai very much; it was akin to a warm embrace of spices on my tastebud. The skinny latte was a pleasure to drink too.

There are savoury options too if desserts aren't your thing, and two thing in particular caught my eye - truffle croquettes and haloumi nuggets. I sense that there will be a return visit in the very near future.

Warning: you will not stop thinking about the PEANUT BRITTLE BUTTER. Once you’ve had a mouthful, you’ll be stocking the pantry. It’s sweet, rich and loaded with peanuts. seriously delicious. Get on it!

Okay, now to the actual desserts - plenty on offer in the display, but the two that grabbed our attention were..

The ESPRESSO WAGONWHEEL, with the fluffiest house-made marshmallow sandwiched between two buttery biscuits, dipped in plenty of Valrohna chocolate. With a nice coffee kick. Wow!!

and TEXTURES OF CHOCOLATE - a rich fudgey brownie topped with white chocolate mousse, milk chocolate ganache, choc shards, and a sweet and silky glaze. This was heaven.

They stock a few places around town, but go in and you can watch them make these gorgeous treats out of their open kitchen.

This place is such a hidden gem filled with yummy delights. Gaze at the beautiful display of cakes ad you struggle to decide on which ones to get. I choose to go with their Easter range and they werte delicious. Definitely worth a visit, staff are incredibly friendly.

Walked past this cute little cake shop and decided to grab a take away. Got the coconut and caramel slice. The cake was incredibly sweet not to my liking to be honest. Service was absolutely fantastic tho.

Service was excellent. Tea was great especially on a rainy day. The cakes however were hit or miss. I love the dark chocolate tart but the rest of the bunch were overly sweet to my liking.

Don't Lose Your Temper is a homey and cosy patisserie located in the quite Melbourne suburbia. Their cakes look amazing in pictures and real life. Just looking at them now almost made us fall for them again... if only they taste as good as they look. The proverb that "looks can be deceiving" is very fitting here😂

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday afternoon here with beautiful desserts. Prices are incredibly reasonable especially after astronomical prices at a Flinders Lane dessert specialist. Will be back to buy desserts for our next dinner party.

Great cakes with high quality ingredients, great service with really friendly staff, a cozy little cafe that make you feel home straight away, what else not to love?
They serve sandwich and soup as well if you are not up to sweets. So well priced compare to other patisserie or cake shops. Definetely a go to place for quick bite and dessert.

one of the best sweet in melbourne, two of us clear the plate❤️definitely looking forward to our second visit soon. Need some improvement on coffee, however the dessert deserves five stars!
🤤

Best cakes in Melbourne without doubt! Very reasonable too. Have been back a few times and they change up the cake selection too. Perfect to bring to a dinner party!
People rating this place less than a 4 don't know what they are getting. This is a coffee and cake shop. The coffee is always good. The cakes would make Adriano Zumbo envious. The fit out is clean. The staff are friendly. Don't come here for a big breakfast. Come here for a tasty toastie or an amazing perfectly portioned cake or arguably the best coffee on the strip. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don’t lose your temper at Fitzroy. The chef used to work in Vue de monde and nice small desserts cafe. Cake were nicely prepared and presented. They change the designs all the time. Coffee is good as well. Highly recommended for a quick bite

The desserts were good. But in this tough to impress market with amazing competitors, I wouldn’t say they stood out by any means. Some interesting combinations of flavours were used - some worked better than others though!

Lovely classy little cafe. The service and staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, and the cakes were incredible.

The Blueberry, Lime and White Choc was a favorite of mine, as the flavors were very delicate and the tart base provided a beautiful balance to the creamy smooth texture of the mousse. The Banoffee was a little too sweet for my personal liking, but the flavors were very nice— reminiscent of Hershey Peanut Butter cups! It was a pity that we missed out on the Berry Cheesecake, but we’ll definitely be back for more!

The cake prices set at $8.5ish is fairly reasonable, especially compared to other dessert stores.

never too early for cake is my motto! My partner and I really enjoyed the coffees and we shared the spiced tart which was really delicious- making up for our disappointment when we were told there was no roasted pumpkin mousse available on that day. what can I say? we'll simply have to go back to try the mousse :-)

The desserts here are so cute. My favourite out of the bunch was the chocolate custard cream Nutella and hazelnut choux! So delicious! I wasn’t much of a fan of the other desserts. Some of them had an off taste or way too sweet like the coconut carbon caramel slice, felt like I was eating a cube of honey.

Really nice place. The staff was really nice and friendly . If you are a hot choccy lover you must go there. The dark hot chocolate is fabulous. Had the blueberry and lemon cake and it was really good. They offered me a lil delicious madeleine too

I got the dark chocolate, cherry, coconut and almond frangipan tart and it was delicious! I didn't find it overly sweet and had a nice balance of flavours, the chocolate shortcrust pastry shell was nice and crumbly. Will definitely be back and would love to try their other desserts!
Second time got the pulled chicken and Herb Mayo toastie with the coffee combo for $12.50. Very delicious and great price!

Found this gem while out in Fitzroy. Had the caramelized white chocolate chai latte and it's to die for. Paired it with a fantastic pumpkin, goat's cheese and dukkah sandwich and finished off with a banoffee tart (couldn't resist it after seeing their cake display). Will definitely be back. The staff was super friendly too!

Came to try out this new café to escape the crowds of Smith and Brunswick Streets. SO GLAD we did! The staff were so friendly and I had one of the best damn coffees of my life. Toasted sandwiches were so delicious and the flavour makes you believe you’re eating at some fancy hatted restaurant. And the cakes? Oh my god. Sensational. Will be back many times!
