Review Shawcross Pizza - Fitzroy

Jesse Lovery
Considering the price and the hype this pizza just passes as mediocre. Poor presentation, greasy, strange vegetarian/vegan options that all feature a tomato-less base (matter of taste but just doesn’t make much sense to me). I have been many times at the end of a night for a couple of slices out of their front display which you can’t expect much of as their pre made and reheated but to get a similar result from a pizza fresh out of their ovens is pretty disappointing. That being said one point of merit was the base which was crispy, thin and flavourful.

I had the pepperoni slice here today with added chili flakes. The lady serving was super nice and did a great job. Excellent packaging of the slice box which I hadn’t seen before. The dough wasn’t too thick or heavy and toppings were generous. Was taken from a huge pie that was heated well. It was a take on a NY style slice. Okay for Australian standards. My only issue is that it was so so salty it actually was not possible to finish. This may have been the pepperoni coupled with the cheese. But it was too salty to eat unfortunately. Cool vibe inside though and everyone seemed nice. Good go see a lasting business on brunswick street when the turnover is so break neck fast!

The new owners are nice but the pizza doh has changed and it was really greasy, you use to be able to pick it up and it would stay together now you pick it up and it just flops, there pizza has definitely changed. There use to be a relaxed atmosphere with music and people hanging out, now it's quiet and was way to serious for Brunswick St. I hope they make it back to how it was otherwise won't be going back.

No display, no slices to offer - this has been the worst offering of Shawcross I’ve seen. Poor form. No cheese. I just want cheese.
Off the Kerb
Absolutely horrible pizza. They claim they are the best. The pizzas in the counter look so gross and old re-heated... pretty disgusting. I ordered a vegan pizza and got the vegetarian and when I mentioned this to the staff he denied taking my order asking for the vegan option. I wouldn't even give 1 star.

Sometimes It’s going to take 7 mins waiting to get my customer’s order made so I can pick up and deliver to customers

Wow, just wow….burnt and no toppings. Been going to Shawcross for years but never again. Lift your game
Mistaken Banana
Been here a total of 5 times now, always consistent and also delicious! Was only disappointed once when they were closed :( I generally don't like Hawaiian sorta pizzas but my friend picked it this time and boy was I surprised at the flavour of the ham :3

Had dinner at Shawcross last night and it was by far the best pizza I have had! Great beer selection and the toppings were all fresh and the 22 inch pizza's are absolutely massive! Definitely coming back!

Johanna Poutanen works there and that's a reason good enough to visit the place. I love her. Johanna. You're amazing. Johanna. Johanna. Da bomb

Amazing pizza and excellent, quick service.Highly recommend the 50 Shade of Chicken pizza!

Best best best american style pizza around. Nothing compares to shawcross. A million stars.

The yummiest pizza's in town. My fave is Jimmy The Greek (my mouth waters every time I think of it!) but also like Living On The Veg when down the road at The Rooks Return. Ordered home delivery for the first time the other night & was blown out by how quickly it was delivered & how hot it was. Service with a smile as well - which will always win me.

Pretty much the best pizza in Australia. Great staff and great service too. Love this place.

Another abysmal failure of a meal from Shawcross. Salad missing goats cheese, wrong drink (hey, at least I got one this time) and the pizza, the most basic of pizzas, doesn't in any way resemble the quality of the food you were producing 6 months ago. What happened? You used to be so reliable and consistent. $40 worth of "food" straight in the bin. Thanks for the memories Shawcross, you've lost a loyal old mate today.

Super poor management. Open when your meant to Open, deliver when your meant to deliver and treat your customers like customers. Was great about 12 Months ago, really went downhill when new management started taking over. Shame.

We just got a late night slice of the cheese pizza and it was amazing! Classic NY style with great flavour and consistency, definitely would make this my local if I lived in Melbourne!

Haven't been in for ages, had a craving for pizza before work tonight. When I arrived there wasn't really anyone else here. 45 mins later still waiting for a pizza :/ late for work and no sign of actually being able to eat. Probably won't come back again for a long while if ever.
Ben Greasley
top notch pizza, super friendly staff and great service

Just got the notorious PIG delivered during the brownlow. Best pizza ever and fast delivery. Well done fellas.

Fantastic Pizza - found the spot last week - and heading back again tonight. Best and closest pizza to American pizza that I've been able to find in Australia so far. Great job guys, bringing the gang with us tonight - we will be enjoying the 22"!
Elvira Ralston-Ellis
Best pizza in Melbourne! Great staff and fabulous food!
Jack Morton
What the hell has happened to you guys? You used to be amazing. Now, staff are rude and scattered, over cooked, dry pizza and major delays. I've also had my order forgotten twice. Such a shame. Please lift your game and return to your former glory!
Lara Cottam
Pizza was excellent! Great base and really good generous toppings. However I might be unlikely to order again as not only did we wait 2hrs 10mins for our pizza (40mins over scheduled time given), the delivery driver didn't apologise for lateness and we had to meet him down the street and finally the pizza itself was stone cold. Real shame for what had really good potential.

Probly the best pizza Iv event had. I had the ChopShop pizza it was perfect!

Ordered 75 mins ago with the promise of a delivery between 30-45min. It is now 8.45pm and it has still not arrived.

Loved the Pizza from Shawcross. A real gem on Fitzroy St. who have really upped their game. One of my favs!

Free pizza?<br/><br/>No, I’m not one to be doing challenges because, let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be a fair thing for the venues 😂 <br/><br/>But I had to try the famous ‘New York style’ Shawcross pizza, that also have the biggest gourmet pizza in Melbourne, where slices are so big that the whole pizza is equivalent to a hummer wheel (or four large pizzas)!<br/><br/>Guys, trust me that thing is pretty big. Too big. Waaaaaay too big 😂<br/><br/>But guess what? If you finish that challenge and eat it all under 11 minutes, you get it for free! (Plus you get a cute tee to show to your buddies and glow over your moment of glory 😂).<br/><br/>How much is 22 inches? 🧐 well... it’s:<br/>🛌 about three-tenths as long as a full size bed or as tall as Michael Jordan!<br/>🎳 about one-and-a-half times as tall as a bowling pin!<br/>🤖 about half as tall as Kenny Baker, the actor for R2-D2 in Star Wars!<br/>🎏only about 0.00000007 times as long as The Great Wall of China<br/>🏔 and about one-fifteen-thousandth as tall as Mount Everest!<br/><br/>We arrived at the venue around dinner time and the place didn’t have many people... yet. Locals sure know their way into what I’d good and since the moment we arrived until we left there were a lot of people coming in to dine in, and a lot (seriously, a lot!) of takeaway and deliveries ready to go.<br/><br/>The place i visited is located at the heart of Fitzroy and they do have other locations, but I honestly don’t think that after visiting, I would picture this place at a more cliche location to transmit those New York vibes! From the outside, quite rustic and brick looking, to the inside screaming Brooklyn vibes featuring huge billboards, catchy signs and impressive designs, it’s impossible not to feel at ease with the vibe and fall in love with the place. It has such a chilled yet charismatic environment that it sets up a huge potencial for an amazing experience. The decoration is also very old school and the tables are of a dark brown wood and chairs of a baby blue metal that gives that vintage look 👌👏 absolutely loved it and for someone that notices these little things, I definitely appreciate the attention to detail. The only thing that it was missing was possible one of those vintage Mercedes inside the store to be even more extra 😂😂😂<br/><br/>We were very well welcomed and the number one thing you will notice when you get to the counter is the massive mad dive size of the 22’ pizza. Not only do they have on display 6 of those for people to choose by the slice (in a true New York spirit!) but they also have a drawing on the chalk wall with the sizes of a 12’ (a normal large) and a 22’ (as it says, and I have to agree: holy sh**). I was definitely not aware of and not being realistic when I tried to picture the 22’ size because it was faaaaaar bigger than what I expected. Being a big eater I do think think I would still be able to eat it all, although definitely not in the time given 😂 but it would be a great challenge for sure! But it sure is a BIG one and I humbly think I made the right call with going with 2 12’ and a few desserts to share because I wanted to try a few other things.<br/><br/>I had seen their menu previously and a was impressive with the options they had and how vegan friendly they were! Even chatting with the owner, obviously in such a popular vegan area, they certainly had to have those options. And I think they are sure doing a service to this world by proving such great quality vegan pizzas and possibly one of the best I’ve ever tried. This surpasses most of the pizzas in my top list and I would even dare to say that this is definitely my number one favourite now!<br/><br/>They also have the good ol’ classics and many options for the meat lovers and after staring and drooling at the displayed ones and getting some advice about which ones to have from the manager, here’s the ones we had:<br/><br/>- Vegan PumpPea Off-Menu Special - any pizza that they make can be made with vegan cheese and they they had such amazing vegan options that I literally wanted to try them all! They even have a pizza with hummus! What?! 😍 seriously these guys use possibly one of the best vegan cheese I’ve tried and I have no idea how they manage to get it moist, gooey and decadent, with an incredible and impressive taste. Besides the usual menu they have special items that come occasionally and on that day they had one that was suggested by the manager and after looking at it from the ones displayed I just couldn’t resist 😍😍😍 with a vegan cheese base, laid on THE BEST crust I’ve tried, this is the true definition of heaven 👏 the base was soft on the inside and still with that enjoy and characteristic crunch to it and trust me when I say that you NEED TO try this and have this in your life. Definitely stands out from all other pizzas I’ve tried and it certainly wins in every aspect of size, flavour and taste and consistency/texture. It comes with some spinach, delicious little green peas, roast pumpkin (that WOW WOW WOW 👏), some olives (that by themselves I am not a fan but I sure have to say that I absolutely love having them in pizzas or paired with the right ingredients as it enhances the the flavours and gives a cheeky touch to it 👌) some mushrooms that I absolutely loved and grilled/oven roasted onions that were immensely appreciated! One thing I must highlight is the tomato and how they display it - instead of cutting slices of a normal size tomato, they use cherry tomatoes and only cut them in half making it not only look so much more appetising but gives an actual element of fun to it figuratively and literally and you’ll be finding yourself fighting for that tomato balance so 😂 I would not change anything about this pizza, not even less olives!, and I absolutely recommend!<br/><br/>- Notorious P.I.G. - my friend, who is a true meat lover opted for a meat pizza. They have almost 15 pizzas alone meat based and the only thing you’ll struggle is to choose just one 😂 that’s why I also think it’s a very good idea of them to have some of the 22’ displayed so that people can try a few slices! This one came with BBQ sauce, many pieces of pork sausage, generous slices of bacon, some red onion and jalapenos. It looked a bit shinny, but I wouldn’t say oily because that was clearly from the ingredients used and the cheese. Size was again a 12’’ and my friend also managed to eat it without problems (even though he usually can’t finish some meals 😂!) as he absolutely loved it! What it good, is indeed good 😍<br/><br/>- Sticky Icky Icky - to finish up our meal we decided to pick a dessert for each and my friend went for the nutella calzone! Not only did it come beautifully presented, folded in half and with some chocolate and strawberry sauce on top, but the actual inside is somewhat of an explosion of Nutella 😍🤭 I am actually not really sure how they would create such a thing but I would assume that it is hard to put so much chocolate sauce inside 😂 so they definitely deserve an applause! The size is not only glorious but the double cream, glazed cherry and icing sugar it comes with pais very nicely according to the feedback my friend gave 👌👏 he found it something that not even your dreams can picture and undoubtedly recommend not visiting without asking for one of these! I personally, because of being lactose intolerant, opted for a very much appreciated... 👇<br/><br/>Pat n Sticks Vanilla Chocolate Chip Icecream Cookie - I absolutely love Pat n Sticks and I have personally worked with them in the past, creating content for them 📸 so of course that I couldn’t leave the venue without having my little treat too. It’s actually that I have to highlight and give an applause because not all venues would make the effort that these guys make to make sure all dietary requirements and food ethical choices are ticked 👏 they want to make sure that in every item and sub-item of the menu, the costumers can have options where they feel comfortable and not just limited by one option, but actually feel at ease to choose from a couple of different items 👏<br/><br/>They also have some very interesting entrees that you can usually find in most pizza stores, but again with a twist and special New York touch. I am definitely very keen to try some of those, specialty their garlic and herb pizza! 😍 and on a final note the beverages they have are also quite interesting and meticulously chosen! They have the usual beers and also some cider options, including vegan ones too! They certainly let want to please everyone and I absolutely know I need to visit again to try their other vegan and allergen friendly pizzas (yes, any pizza can be made with that INSANE vegan cheese! 🤭)<br/><br/>Put this place on your top list because they sure are worth visiting 👏😍 and you might even see me there in my next visit! 👏 what an amazing place!

My favourite pizza place to go to; especially for a late night snack. Please try the Notorious Pig if you are planning to visit, so flavourful with every bite! Extremely generous with the toppings. Good deals during Mondays and Tuesdays too.

Best fast food pizza in melbourne
@foodtom
Came for some pizza and pizza is what we got! We ordered the mixed dessert pizza and it was everything you've ever wanted on a pizza and more. With 4 different slices of different toppings you were ensured to have a sweeeeett time. Top place
Melb_Belly
Invited for dinner this place is home to some of the largest pizzas in Melbourne. We tried the Notorious P.I.G, USA today and sticky icky icky (nutella).<br/><br/>The Notorious P.I.G was bursting with flavours and a single slice from there 22" pizza with a salad is a great option for 1 person. I really loved the flavours of this pizza.<br/>The USA today was equally as tasty with generous amounts of pepperoni and cheese. Finally the sticky icky icky is a nutella lovers dream. Loaded with nutella, the moment you rip it open the hazelnut goodness comes gushing out 🤤<br/><br/>Great service, great pizzas would recommend

If you’re looking for delicious pizza served in huge slices then this is the place to go! Visited a few weeks ago with my friends for the $10 Big Slice & Beer offer! Will definitely be back!

Tonight we popped in for Pizza at Shawcross Pizza in the heart of Brunswick Street. This busy little pizzeria had some of the hugest NY style pizzas we’ve seen in Melbourne (I have only had bigger in San Francisco). The Pizza at Shawcroft is offered by 12 inch, 22 inches and by the pie or by the slice. The slice is humungous, like a meal for one, but don’t fret it comes with instructions on how to hold, fold and eat.<br/><br/>Tonight whilst enjoying the great tunes we started with a 12 inch Fat Tony, effectively a thin crust margarita with a large slice of fresh tomato and huge basil leaf per slice, keeping the flavours fresh.<br/><br/>With a wide range of delicious sounding toppings with cracking  names, it was hard to make our next choice. We eventually settled on the Kevin Bacon. This cheesey smoky combo with chunky bacon was bloody delicious. With a chewy crust and thin base I was in piggy eating heaven.<br/><br/>We couldn’t resist and ordered the apple crumple pie for dessert. This dessert is a combination of all things delicious, cinnamon spiced apples, delicious pastry and yummy crunchy crumble topping. What a great idea. <br/><br/>They have beer and a slice specials on Sunday through to Thursday where you can get a monster slice and a beer of $10 ... you could make a night of it!

Seriously good toppings! The massive 22" pizza was an absolute hit at my grandsons birthday party. It's a great novelty but the quality of the pizza is fantastic. <br/><br/>We got the 50 Shades of Chicken topping and it was great, plenty of each ingredient, perfect amount of cheese and the dough itself was great, with nice, fluffy crusts. <br/><br/>Absolutely would order from here again!

A quality Pizza with all the right toppings. Regular and Vegan available. Open daily so easy to get your pizza fix any night of the week

HUGE PIZZZA! Not just a cool idea with the massive pizza, but these slices actually taste amazing. Came with my Vegan mate last week and although I got a pizza with cheese on it, my friend was happy that we found a place that caters to both of us. Friendly staff and a quality feed.

Great American pizza joint for huuuge single slices! Thick tho with heaps of cheese and toppings, the perfect hangover treat! My personal favorite was the Notorious Pig Pizza! The BBQ sauce was amazing! Highly recommended!

The only place to be after a big night out in Brunswick. You won't be disappointed! The pizzas are great. Gotta stop coming in with hungry eyes and getting the 22" Pizzas! Gets me every time.
Burgers Of Melbourne
Huuugge pizza and not just a gimmick! Order by the slice, the big mamma or a smaller (normal) version. Flavours are great, the pizza is cooked really well. Open all hours of the night over the weekend, caters to vegans and their calzone to finish is the perfect end to a fantastic meal.
HEARD Magazine
Shawcross Pizza is set amongst the collective tapestry that is Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, a home to music, people, culture, art, bars and most importantly food, you can walk from end to end and find a handful of pizza joints all trying to sell their wares to the passers-by. But what sets this little pizzeria apart is their unique approach to this humble staple of so many.<br/>Knowing their audience, the team at Shawcross offer pizza in three convenient sizes; by the slice for those late-night snack attacks that can hit after a few beverages, the 12” for the everyday pizza fix and finally the 22” New York style pizza (slices are cut from this 22” monster).<br/><br/>While they have a few traditional combinations like the Fat Tony and USA Today, they also offer a gourmet selection of pizza that raise the game from the run of the mill pizza toppings that the traditional pizza shop offers. From the 50 Shades of Chicken to the Notorious P.I.G. each offering a unique take on the time-tested pizza, but don’t fret the vegans and vegiesaurs are also catered for at Shawcross offering a selection of tasty treats that you can munch on as well.<br/><br/>Tackling their signature 22” pizza we were left with the task of having to decided what to eat. Unfortunately for us, we could only sample two of the delectable options they had available despite our pleas to create a pizza with a slice of each on it. Even though its big enough we knew it wasn’t going to happen.<br/><br/>So, in the end we narrowed down our choices to the Chop Shop a combination of homemade meatballs, Italian sausage, mozzarella, oregano and parsley and Jimmy the Greek a generous balance of lamb, olives, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, artichoke hearts, feta and tzatziki.<br/><br/>While we waited for our pizza pie to cook, which seemed like an eternity but was actually more like ten minutes. We took in our surroundings from the 90’s hip hop playing, to the friendly and lively staff dancing behind the counter, all mixing together to create a warm and friendly spot that everyone can feel welcome in which was evident from constant stream of happy customers.<br/><br/>And then it happened the enormity of what we were about it get into was put down on our table, and while 22” doesn’t sound big when its sitting in front of you in all its glory it is undoubtedly a case of eyes being bigger than your stomach. With each slice, as big as your head, we dove mouth first into the Chop Shop and Jimmy the Greek.<br/><br/>In the end, we could only get through half, a valiant effort if I say so myself, but sitting there contemplating how we were going to finish the other half, it must have been clear the state we were in as we were kindly told that we could take it home with us and with a sigh of relief it was packed away and we headed back into the night and into the bustle of Brunswick St.<br/><br/>Shawcross did not disappoint from its gourmet flavours to its 22” of deliciousness, but the true test of any pizza is not eating it straight out of the oven rather how it tastes the next morning. Let’s just say, breakfast was good!

Great location for an American style pizza. We tried the USA Today, Fat tony and notorious PIG. While it doesn’t quite match that of an actual New York style pizza, they were still tasty slices, and there’s condiments on the tables that can add flavours to the pizza. The best one for me was definitely the notorious pig, the bbq sauce was a winner.
Whalesfoodadventure
Great pizzas. Got the garlic and herb pizza with added cheese, highly recommend adding the cheese on it. Livin on the veg tastes amazing, slaw worked well with pesto sauce and pumpkin. Dough was very thin and tasted great. Aloha used shaved ham instead of shredded and was alot better than other pizza places. Also jimmy the greek and cop shop had heaps of flavour. Great pizza joint
Quince And Cheese
One of the best places for large, single slices. The fact that they have vegan options is a major bonus, although you can't go wrong with a classic cheese if you do eat dairy. Being open late makes this place a top post-drinking meal destinations on Brunswick, hands down.
Louise Findlay
Favourite drunk/hungover feed in Melb. Open till 3am on the weekend and have specials throughout the week. Can’t go past the Fat Tony. Hanging out for my birthday to justify one of their huuuuuge pizzas.
Danny Kara
Pros: The huge pizza is huge enough, get it. Pizza menu is good. Coke is real legit coke. Cons: The fridge temperature must be at the incorrect setting or it’s out of service as my coke wasn’t cold enough to fully enjoy it.

Highly recommend! Shawcross Pizza did such an amazing job<br/>catering for Australia Post's end of year team celebration. We did a bulk order of the Monster 22" new York style pizzas and it was such a hit with the team! They were the most delicious pizzas - a variety of which we pre-ordered from their excellent menu.   Their service was excellent, the pizzas<br/>were delivered at the agreed times - each and every pizza was still piping hot on arrival! Thank you<br/>Shawcross - our party wouldn't have been the success that it was without your<br/>delicious pizzas!
Cindy
Pizza was small and arrived lukewarm despite being only 12 minutes away. The garlic bread side was so thin and small too. I'm trying to find good things to say but unfortunately cannot as it was overpriced.
Divyan Salotra
I was at the restaurant on a saturday - super busy due to lots of great pizza. The menu is an interesting one with quirky names which makes the experience way cooler than most pizza places. The decor is well done as well but the most important thing for me was that the staff was friendly and managed to serve everyone on time despite the mad crowd. Overall , one of the best pizza slices I have had and a cool place to hang out at - highly recommended, especially for late nights!<br/>- Div
Tim Keong
Tried this once and really liked the pizza - better quality cheese and nice variety of toppings, falling somewhere between traditional and gourmet style. Unfortunately after purposely making an effort to go back last night, the shop appeared to be closed without notice, leaving me disappointed. Would recommend if passing or in the area.

Pizza by the slice or whole I was surprised really at how tasty the pizza was! No waiting time already made and heated up for ya. Great stuff! Tomato sauce fresh and delicious. I loved the dough absolutely amazing. Pizza so big you gotta fold it! <br/>Great for a quality after booze up snack! Back for more for sure 👍🏽 Cheers
Claire
This is always my go to place !!! The pizza is amazing and unfortunately an incident happened which lead to my pizza getting delivered late however they were incredibly apologetic and wonderful. Highly recommend this place to everyone. Amazing customer service.
PierogiPundit
Kinda ny style. Lots of chili and oregano needed. Tasty and quick. Broseppi is the jam. Quick bite on Brunswick bar hop nights —- open late.

Hands down best pizza I’ve had in ages. My friend had a birthday so we ordered the super sized one. It was awesome. You’d have gotten 5* but I was let down on my Uber eat order 😒😒.
Monica Iva
Big fat delicious pizza, friendly staff, napoli to dip your crust in, vegan pizza for my cruelty free friends makes it a great place to catch up with vegos.
Noah
The pizza always good, and name of pizzas are creative. The pizza seems like between American style and Italian style. Service seems a bit slow.
TigerTreeEats
Got our pizza fix New York pizza style; funny names and 2 vegetarian and 1 vegan options. Not super greasy, base were chewy. Even better when straight out of the oven. We wanted to try many different toppings so got slices instead of ordering whole. Service was so so.
LoveFood
I had heard so much about this place and had to try it during my short trip. The pizza is to die for with so many options! Great job guys ;)
DamoForce Food
Pretty dam fine tasting pizza. Whether if you want to do their epic as challenge or just enjoy one slice. Both are great options. We have had both. Dine in is always great.
Mark Gayle
Decent pizza by the (big) slice. Nice staff. <br/>Great place to finish a drinking session in Fitzroy with (or start a drinking session in Fitzroy with).
Estelle Laufeia
A little pricy but well worth it, I love their New York Slices & the pizza themselves fresh out of the oven are to die for. I've not found a better pizza place in over two years. If you're after amazing pizza that is quality & not a grease pit, go here.
Miss Laura
Deliciously good pizza, massive slices reminds me of being back in New York. Great choice of toppings on offer too, a good option if you're craving pizza!
Sam
Best pizza ever. Awesome tasty dough and ingredients. Love the USA Today pepperoni pizza and spinach salad. Delivery was quick as pizza was still hot.
Meesha Michaels
My hubby and I used to be regulars here, always ordering the same thing every few weeks since they opened. A few months ago we got our usual and were SO disappointed at how the quality had deteriorated. The first thing I noticed was that we picked up our pizza in a 'standard' pizza box instead of the usual Shawcross box. That's when the warning bells started ringing and I suspected that management had changed and they were now trying to cut corners. I was hoping that they'd only changed the packaging but I was wrong. The pizza tasted different. The salami was not very good, neither was the ham. I was gutted. It's a shame and I like to support new business owners but when you take a business that's been successful for so long, that's built up a loyal customer base, you can't just substitute cheaper ingredients. We can tell. Unfortunately, if they continue to cut corners and use cheaper quality ingredients, for the sake of a few dollars, I don't think they'll be there for much longer.
Con Manouras
best pizza ever people talk about this place had to check it out what can i say wow taste so good fast service highly recommend and will definitely will be back
EsmeEats
Honestly I do not want to eat that pizza again. If you like a thicker bready base, tons of thick tasteless cheese and a pool of grease this is for you. For a drunken late night pizza I can imagine it's the bomb
FancyCake
We ordered a late delivery of two pizzas around 10 PM... from a pub! They actually delivered to the pub! We got two delicious pizzas (vegan and the hippy). What a treat! So good on so many levels. They took quite awhile but worth the wait. Other patrons were jealous so we handed them the takeaway menu. Luckily they take orders until midnight. We will definitely order again... could be from the pub... maybe from a friends house? Sure these guys will deliver! :)

SHAWCROSS GIVES ME LIFE!!! I love that they will give you rocket on top for no extra charge and that their slices are super big. The base is the perfect thickness and the cheese super salty with just the right amount of oil to cure that killer hangover! Love it forever

SHAWCROSS HAS GONE TO SH*T. After being a loyal customer of Shawcross for a very long time I'm saddened that what once was a great pizza place has turned to the proverbial. After a long week, last Friday I tried to call to make a phone order but the line was engaged after trying for 15 mins, so I walked down there to find the restaurant in complete shambles. I politely enquired if they had changed phone numbers, but the hipster taking my order informed me that the phone was accidentally left off the hook. After standing in line for a good while, I placed my order and was told that the only takeaway boxes available where the massive ones about a metre wide. I said that's fine and placed my order. Sat down at the table and my lovely girlfriend noticed dripping water beside her and the aircon was dripping all over the table we'd sat down at. We also noticed a random printer next to the counter (?). After a long wait, we finally got our meal, walked home and found the sour cream was missing from the mexicutioner, a key ingredient. Anyway, the pizzas were still ok, but all of these things combined have unfortunately given me no choice than to break up with Shawcross. I'm sorry, we're done.

I went to Shawcross pizza for a late night snack after drinks with friends. I hadn't been in for months as I had moved house and it was no longer my local. When entering the store I was incredibly shocked at how run down and dirty the place was. The pizza was terrible - dry and with minimal toppings. My friends and I left our slices as they tasted like stale bread. I asked the staff if something had changed and they said it was under new management. It's sad that a place that was so great has been ruined. Won't be back.

Last night I had gone to shawcross and I have never been so disappointed in my life.! They had very limited pizza available and to top it off apparently they didn't have any crust dippers! But it was advertised, absolutely ridiculous! The only sauce they had was hot sauce which I'm not a huge fan of.. which made the enjoyment of my pizza even worse! The staff was unorganised and all over the place. Also they weren't playing the usual cool tunes they play, so the shop was just full of people being loud... not a big fan! Shawcross will be lucky if I return.
Spirited Stardust
Ordered a garlic pizza & a bloody vegan. Was told it would be 15mins. Arrived after 20 to be told another 5mins. When I came back they apologized & said they had no garlic & would i like a second vegan pizza for the same price, I declined as kiddo only wanted garlic. Took another 15 minutes more so they gave me a free juice. The pizza was nice but I felt it could have had more toppings.
Traceynn
Ordered the 22inch pizza to share amongst 4 people and we were all very satisfied. I was only able to finish 2 slices as they are huge slices ! We did half half of Jimmy The Greek and 50 shades of Chicken. The chicken was the favourite out of the two flavours. I would come back and try the other slices that they sell separately for ~$7 .
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
I made a special trip to Fitzroy solely for the purpose of trying Shawcross Pizza's USA Today (Pepperoni) pizza and it didn't disappoint!<br/><br/>This could very well be the best pizza I've had in Australia in the past 6 years.<br/><br/>My dining companion had 'today's special' and enjoyed it - noting particularly the wonderful taste and texture of the crust.<br/><br/>Will definitely return.

Awesome new york style, great for a hungover. Really chill staff and perfect location.<br/><br/>:) :) :)

Just ordered a USA Today via Uber Eats. Despite living less than 5 minutes away the pizza was cold. Consistency was hard like cardboard. Over salted for pizza, which is not easy to do. Clearly these guys have given up. Would advise against spending your hard earned cash at this place. Who makes a bad pizza these days? Hipster vibe > quality product = fail. Shut up shop fellas and move to Portland, Oregon. But don't try make pizza there, hipster or not, your pizza won't fly in the US of A.

I really liked this place. Staff were cheery, lots to choose from and all super fresh. Was really happy with the vegan pizza. Need to go back!

Very good pizza!!! Good music!!! Good service!!! And food with love!!! Thanks guys, thanks chef!!! 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😉 they are friendly and they work hard, but everyone is with a smile and professional

Shawcross packs a punch, the perfect amount of toppings paired with a smokey base leaves an impression. The 22 inch pizza is great for a few people and makes it a reasonable eat.

Shawcross is an interesting one. Some days I go in and it'd be the greatest pizza! Other days it's alright. Which is a shame when you take friends there after talking it up and it's a "alright" day at shawcross.<br/><br/>Don't know if it's the different hours we went. Maybe earlier is better? Maybe different staff? Either way they need to be consistently great!<br/><br/>Love the 22" pizza though. And mad respect to anyone who finishes it on their own.

I ordered garlic bread from shawcross pizza as I saw it offered it on their online menu. I had already ordered pizza from down the road but they only sell an accompanying garlic 'pizza' and I really had a hankering for the bread based version. I was initially disappointed when I handed over $8.50 in exchange for a small red box full of flat crispy garlic bread (pizza) and attempted to point out the apparent misunderstanding. According to staff I was mistaken - because derrr, pizza and bread are the same thing.... Aaaahhh?? Sorta agreed, Definitely both italian and delicious. But also defs not the same thing. Definitely two very separate things. In your defence your garlic pizza, although certainly not a bread, was delicious... But also.. Not a bread.

Decent pizza - dominos taken to the next level! <br/>It's fun and perfect a night of banter! 👌🏽<br/>The 22" pizza slices are great. <br/>The hot sauce is really worth the extra dollars!

The 22inch pizza is massive and definitely an attention grabber. Good thing this place do deliveries because it would be hard transporting the pizza without a car. The pizza however didn't really make an impact taste wise...

Whoever made the nachos tonight, you are a god...<br/>That cheesy goodness was exactly what I needed after the long weekend! Please make this the standard!!

This pizza joint is our go-to place when we are home. We usually go for the big slices of USA pepperoni pizza ($6 each)- promise it won't disappoint. Best to eat it straight away from the shop, or at the place.<br/>Two tips - the inside of the store gets pretty hot (I don't think they have aircon, or if they do, its not very effective), so we tend to get takeaway and eat it on the way home or get the pizza delivered. In addition, they don't open for lunch, which is unfortunate for us... <br/><br/>The price of the pizza is obviously a little more expensive then places around, but worth it!
The Urban Nihilist
On a balmy Sunday evening I awoke into a living nightmare and ordered a 22 inch USA today pizza to make a beast of myself.<br/><br/>I was met with a box so large I could bury myself in it and a beautiful, slightly salty dough absorbing and complementing the oil of the pepperoni topping.<br/><br/>As I writhed in the beautiful, satisfying pain of gluttony I considered that if we believe in nothing, if nothing has any meaning and if we can affirm no values whatsoever, then everything is possible and nothing has any importance.<br/><br/>I then lay down to embark on a fresh nightmare fuelled by cheese and sorrow.<br/><br/>facebook dot com / theurbannihilist

Tried Shawcross for the first time yesterday, ordered a Notorious P.I.G and a green machine salad. Absolutely delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. Was not expecting a Resturant quality salad, it was amazing and the portions were very generous. Been eating in the area for many years and this is by far the best pizza joint In town! Almost forgot, I got to wash it down with a freezing cold Peroni because they sell alcohol and I just found out that they deliver alcohol with pizza to your house! Great stuff Shawcross Team!!

This pizza joint's been recommended to me a few times and I've finally made it here after a bit of subtle coercion away from Bimbos, as I promised my friends the same pizza and beer combo at Shawcross.<br/>Started out with a few Blue Ribbons, shared a 12" Holi Cow, as a few were Pescatarians, finished with a slice of the Broseppi and Veggie.<br/>The slices from the 22" size are massive, the hand-stretched crust is soft and fluffy. It's very showing in every bite that quite a bit of mastery was involved in preparing the base.<br/>If you're ordering slices, they merely reheat them from the cabinet, in the oven.<br/>Apart from this, great pizza place, probably the best around this neck of the woods.

Are we done with the bored hipster service yet? Yep. We are. My friends raved about the quality of pizza here and I agree it is outstanding. Soft, fluffy dough and tasty toppings (I went veggie because spinach on pizza is DEFINITELY healthy), but I’ll be back for the salami next time. I could do without the attitude from the guys there. Out of the three of them, I couldn’t crack a smile from one. Come on guys, don’t work in hospitality if it’s got you so down.

Been wanting to try this place for a while! I've heard so many good things too. It sure did disappoint though. We ordered the Notorious P.I.G and the Mexicutioner. The toppings were average to say the least and the pizza was doughy. Definitely the first and last for me!
Beccy's Adventures
I have never had better. This place is an absolute must try for any pizza enthusiast in Melbourne. Their slices are very generous, (like something you'd find in NYC) and value for money is better. <br/>The veggie pizza was faultless. Thin base with a thick crust. Vegetables (spinach, pumpkin, peas, onion, herbs) were insanely fresh and had the perfect flavour, I could taste garlic in the toppings and crust. Sooooo great. Can't wait to come back.
Bopnbeep
Came here for a late night pizza fix and it didn't disappoint. Huge slices, tasty and generous toppings and thick fluffy crust. The selection was pretty low and we didn't want to wait for a whole pzzia, we ordered a few different slices and I had The Special with juicy chunks of chicken. Great vibe and would come here again.

Melbourne is a fantastic place to go out and eat pizza, with a rather large stable of proven stalwarts to choose from such as Ladro, +39, Lazerpig, DOC, Supermaxi, I Carusi, and Elounge. Melbourne is also not a bad place to get takeaway pizza - you can visit these places easily enough. Surprisingly given the exponential improvement in home delivery options for other types of food, Melbourne is not very good at providing delivery for that most typical of delivery foods - the pizza.<br/><br/>Ordered from Shawcross very late on a weeknight following a long evening shift at work; was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food. Shared the Notorious PIG and the Living On the Veg with a house salad. Pizzas were of a good standard, and definitely hit the spot. The latter was a little bit odd, as it was heavy on the cabbage, but would happily eat either again. The salad was a little dull, and like most salad options in Melbourne you pay for the privilege of trying to be healthier.<br/><br/>Will definitely order from here again. Keep up the good work. Thumbs up for the creative pizza names.<br/><br/>Edit: as an addendum have ordered from here again a couple of times, and while the pizzas are tasty they are very heavy on the oil. Still a good option for pizza.
Cranky Veg
If there's a better thing than Shawcross' Holi Cow pizza, I haven't ordered it late at night and stuffed it into my mouth in a mad, grotesque frenzy. Shawcross is a lifesaver on nights you just can't face cooking, and crave something satisfying enough to justify the havoc you're probably wreaking on your arteries.
Andrew
Another gem on Brunswick Street! Pizzas are cooked really well and covered with a lot of cheese and great toppings.<br/>It is awesome that you can order 22" pizzas. I can eat about half of one and then I am pretty much done. I will one day try and eat a whole one on my own!<br/>Staff are very friendly and efficient. The price is on the expensive side but I would rather pay more for good quality. The pizza places near me are cheap and terrible.
Another1
Nice pizza, friendly staff. Only criticism would be to add more to the menu as I believe I have eaten the entire menu 🙌 shawcross goes down really well after a big night!
Trudy Renard
Had an absolutely amazing vegan pizza; <br/>The only reason I give it half a star off is due to wanting more than just the one vegan option.<br/>But other than that, the pizza and vibe was amazing!
Mmmfoood
Pizza range is good. Loved the base was very oily however... Never had pizza this oily! Would try again and hope didn't have this issue next time.
Chloe
Ordered for delivery at 9pm. Rang us at 10 to say they had no 12 inch pizzas and we could only buy 24 inch. This is 4x the size. Of course we had to pay the difference for their poor planning. Given the amount of money we have given them, you would think they should wear some of it.

Got home, opened the box, and it looked like somebody had vomited on it. Barely any chicken, complete mess. Pick up your game. Not ok for $17.On a +ve the staff were nice.Picture is of "bigger than texas" with no changes

Most delicious, high-grade trashy, amazing pizza ever! Yellow delicious cheese.<br/>My new go to hangover cure!! Works wonders!<br/>USA Today is a def favourite :)
Brickparty
pretty good pizzas and open real late. They do deliver and are probably the best pizzas that can be delivered in the area but sometimes you have to wait ages...like over two hours which is ridiculous. Not cheap but they are pretty tasty.
Fiona
Loved this place! Such massive pizzas!!! They were soooo good, sick toppings and cooked to perfection really :p Can't wait to come back for a 22 inch pizza hehehe
Sienna
My god how I love this place, my go-to for the most beautiful pizza. Been here more than a few times and it does not disappoint. The base is beautifully thin and soft under the toppings and edges to a thick and bready crust which is great with one of their crust dippers.<br/><br/>My favourites are the Aloha and the Notorious P.I.G, but really all the pizzas are worth trying. Two 22" slices really should do the trick to feeling well satisfied, but I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to squish in another slice.
Michy
One of my favourite pizza joints in Melbourne! Reminds me of being back in NYC. Although prices are a bit steep ($10 for one 22" slice). Nonetheless, they're pretty quick with wait times and I've never not got a seat on any given night. Thank guys!
Madison Wheeler
Just like New York!! I'd been looking to fix my longing for New York pizza since I left New York and this has done it. Amazing size and taste
I Just Love Good Food
Shawcross is our Saturday late night pizza fix. Notorious P.I.G was awesome, pork sausage, bacon, mozzarella, all the fatty ingredients make it tasted perfect. Chop shop was not bad, I loved the meatballs though. I don't really like Mexicutioner, it's just another average to me.
Mick Young
Nice little pizza shop in the heart of Fitzroy. Really good service. I had the 50 shades of chicken pizza which was good but could have done with some more sauce, but the base was awesome and you could tel it was hand made.
Blake
Was tasty and reasonable . Over all great experience.<br/>Toilets were dirty. Friendly service
Dean Footy
Never been to this joint yet. I know, I know... a pizza joint in Fitzroy I haven't been to!!! Not for too much longer though, bumped into the owner at the pub down the road. Absolute legend. Not much of an 8 ball player but haha. He only managed to scrape together one lucky win when I sunk the black. We played through though and I ended up getting pretty hyped up over it, shouting about how I should've won and patting him on the back a bit too hard but he seemed to take it in good fun!
I. D.
Good pizza's and friendly service. We had three regular size pizza's with 3 people which was plenty. I was so full that I don't want to eat pizza for a couple of weeks (months, years?). We had a prawn & pesto pizza, a meatball & hummus pizza and a indian potato pizza (don't remember the official names). They were all nice, but I think the prawn one left me with a horrible garlic taste in my mouth the next morning!

Brilliant. I love the pizza here. It is awesome. I always get home delivery so not sure about in store experience but The pizza is good, the delivery guys always have change & when you get that mamoth pizza out the box you can't help but smile
CBF Glutton
A tad expensive but well worth it.<br/>The portions are really big and the pizzas are good.<br/>The decor might be a bit average but the ambience is good.<br/>Good service as well.<br/><br/>Will need to try the 22" challenge soon.
La Ola Es Mia Cocina.
Still some of Melbourne's best pizza. A little disappointed from my first experience as it did not have that New York crunch as the last time to the crust and like true New York style pizza has. Apart from that the taste is delicious and hopefully next time will be like my first time experience here. Great place and I understand why it may not been as good this time as it was completely flat out busy. For any one that hasn't been here it truly is worth it as it does has amazing flavours and a good price tag to match.

Folding the large slices in half before downing the cheesy goodness down the hatch is highly recommended. Their Jimmy The Greek pizza is topped with  lamb, olives, mozzarella, cherry tomato, artichoke, feta, tzatziki. The lamb is succulent, even slightly sweet and the added bursts of the tangy feta and tzatziki creates a harmonious flavour profile. It’s on the saucier/jucier side of the pizza scale and napkins are a definite must. The Triple Cheese pizza is actually a ‘starter’ option but arrived as a 12″. A heart-stopping smothering of mozzarella, baked brie, goats cheese, topped with modest parsley makes this pizza a classic hangover cure.  The crusts of Shawcross pizzas are also delightfully chewy and they even offer crust dipping sauces on the side. The dough does have a sweeter taste to it than some other pizza places around, but it works perfectly with their range of pizza toppings. Overally, Shawcross Pizza is so good, you’ll finish an entire one crusts and all with no regrets.

$55 for a 22 inch pizza! What's the profit margin on that? $40 / $45 dollars!? No thanks, way too expensive.
Hannah Kate
Really disappointed. Waited for a delivery well over 2 hours. Had to call the store twice to chase up order. Lied to the first time about where the delivery was at then second phone call had someone with the attitude of a 12 yr old and staff member ended the phone call with 'dude'. Pizza finally arrived, was cold, no compensation and delivery driver had no change. Never again.

I've visited Shawcross twice recently. The first time I successfully ordered at the counter and the pizza was tasty enough for me to return. However, I found on my second visit that I didn't order at the RIGHT PART OF THE COUNTER. When I tried to order this time round... The four staff behind the counter were busy. Discussing an iPhone charger. After a time I did manage to catch the eye of Pokemon T-shirt. 'Hi!' I said brightly. The 'hi' I got in response put my 15 year old surly self to shame. 'Can I order?' I asked. 'Over there' Pokemon T tells me, pointing to an area of the counter half a meter from where I'm standing. Shit. FORGIVE ME! So I moved, two steps to the left and waited for the iPhone charger discussion to end. The American chick that eventually served me was super smiley and friendly but what the hell is up with wait staff? I mean, I'm really sorry to interrupt your convo about iPhone chargers but I kinda thought you were getting paid to serve customers? My bad if I got that wrong though. Pizza is awesome. Love the American slices. Sort out the customer service and you'll get two very enthusiastic thumbs up. Currently sitting on one.

First stop:   Shawcross Pizza Joint , boasting NY-style by-the-slice pizza and Brooklyn Brewery beer.  We were a group of four, so we opted for a whole 22″ pie (big even by NY standards!).  J and I were also dining with a couple of non-NYer friends who enjoy toppings a bit more than we do, so as a compromise, we ordered half a Mexicutioner pie (Chorizo, mozzarella, spicy salsa, sour cream, fresh chilli) (not NY toppings, by any definition), and half Broseppi (Italian sausage, mozzarella, artichoke, salami, mushroom, oregano) (at least the toppings were Italian).  We thought the base was slightly underdone but that the cheese, sauce, and edge crust were really good.  Though I thought the Mexican half of the pizza was weird, I really enjoyed the Italian toppings despite initially wanting to try the plain.  Overall, a decent, though not perfect, example of NY pizza! Half-Mexicutioner, Half-Broseppi 22″ Pie ($55 $3 for half/half) at Shawcross Pizza,
Wagooga
Worst experience.. Terrible.<br/>The owner is rude, the pizza is rubbish and they were three hours late.<br/><br/>We were continually hung up on and laughed at. I've never experienced such poor customer service, to the point of complete rudeness. <br/><br/>Don't order from here, it's actually horrible and not worth the time.

Great pizza. Great service. Get behind this local business.
Jillian.roy.69
Stingy place. Great pizza. 3% surcharge on eftpos is unheard of in a place you can dine in and have a couple of beers and a meal! Plus there's a minimum of $10 spend! if I'm paying for the my card to be used why should there be a minimum???wouldn't even see that in a milkbar anymore! I asked for some chilli sauce and was told its $1.50!! seriously what place charges for a condiment? pathetic! Wont go back! have a good look around you, way too much competition to value money over customers!
KEL
Handsdown best pizza...... ......not sure how the food itself has managed to get ANY negative reviews. The dough is amaaaazing!
Jackie.taylor
Best Pizza in Australia! (and far cheaper than a plane ticket to NY). If you measure pizza against that of New York, then you already know Shawcross is the gold standard for pizza in this country. The key is in perfecting the basics - the crust, sauce, and cheese: and WOW, they've done it!!<br/><br/>I'm American with family from New York, which qualifies me to say this. My family are very serious about their food. In CA, We've found only ONE restaurant that approaches NY standards (Toto's in the San Francisco area). Shawcross actually rivals my family's homemade, and it doesn't get any better than that. <br/><br/>It takes time and care to make the perfect crust and sauce from scratch. After you've gone to that trouble, you'll use quality toppings, not supermarket garbage. To appreciate great pizza, you need to be able to tell the difference. To those who have posted a negative review: stick to your Domino's or Pizza Hut or whatever it is you call pizza - the rest of us will be at Shawcross.

Recommended. Pizza made just right. As good as NYC!

Novelty Pizza is still Pizza. We once walked into Shawcross late on a Thursday night and they were still open and cooking fresh pizzas. We couldn't resist the pizzas that came straight from the oven and ordered two slices of pepperoni pizza bigger than the size of my face. The great thing about eating in at Shawcross is that you can order by the slice for around $6. One slice and I'm done. <br/><br/>The pepperoni was...not dissimilar to other pepperoni pizzas I've had, but I think part of the major appeal is obviously the ginourmous New York style size, but also the fact that you're unlikely to get better single slices of pizza at those greasy all-night take away joints. We have ordered a whole take away pizza from Shawcross before, but they didn't deliver to our area (Brunswick) and so we had to pick it up. I wouldn't bother with delivery and would instead sit in - you definitely have more choice and variety if you eat in store and buy by the slice. <br/><br/>I ordered a slice of Margherita the 3rd time I went to Shawcross and it did not disappoint. I haven't had a Margherita in years as it seems to be what you order at a children's birthday party (for fussy eaters) or for those people who will eat pizza...but don't really like it that much. But I was happy that I ordered the Margherita as it was wonderfully simple and delicious. You can order sauces to go with your pizza slice in store - like chilli sauce, Ranch sauce etc. I think I ordered some kind of chilli but the waitress brought out my pizza with a little container of chillies in oil (like jalapenos, but not). That was a bit weird but it didn't matter as the plain Margherita was ace.<br/><br/>Shame it is isn't open on the weekend during lunch hours as we would happily pop in for a slice. Once you get past the giant pizza novelty factor, you realise it's also just a great place to catch up with friends over a slice or two.
Kikibee
Dissapointed. Cant believe how this place has gone downhill.. was always a favourite and never before had disappointed me! lacking flavour and the staff are boring and lack interest. bring back Courtney!!! and the owner who always took care of you

Yuuuuum!! Tasty stuff. Love the American style approach to the menu and I have to recommend getting a dipping sauce for your crusts. I opted for ranch and I can't stop thinking about it. Lovely, prompt service and great atmosphere in the restaurant itself. Can't wait to go back.
Rob
5 friends and I had the most amazing fkn pizza and some incredible service from some lovely staff.
Sebsy Needs A Beer
Love it!. Ordered these pizzas for a function with my guests going on about how amazing it was! Have kept going back and introducing guests to it who love it as much as me. Great range of beers too - can't go past Mountain Goat Steam Ale on tap! Yuuum! Will continue to go back again and again. Best pizza on the North side! :)

I had high expectations for this place, but looking back all I can say is the ratings are a joke. Pizza was very average, toppings were scarce, our waitress was grumpy, service was slow and the staff handled the slices at the counter with their bare hands. Love the concept of their super sized pizzas, unfortunately Shawcross falls well short of reaching its potential.
Long.newan
The Shawcross Redemption. The decision to give Shawcross Pizza a go was made on the basis that we had eaten everywhere around Brunswick St but have never seemed to stop off here, this venture would prove to be our undoing and we soon would find out why. There was much anticipation for this meal as the household was still paying a high price for Saturday night’s debauchery so we continued our decadent ways and the cash was splashed on an order over $100 for 4 pizzas, a salad and a bottle of coke. <br/><br/>Considering we lived only a few minutes away and for what we received, it could've come half hour earlier. As the boxes were opened, an expression reminiscent of Saddam Hussein being caught in his hole appeared across all our faces. The toppings were so scarce that I might have been right to assume that there was an impending Armageddon and the only acceptable international currency would be pizza toppings. The non-existent toppings had slipped off onto the cardboard, exposing a thick chunk of lifeless dough for a GF pizza base. The crust was more black than 2Chainz and thoroughly burnt prompting me to apply aloe vera and burn cream in the hopes that it would revitalise this deceased pizza but alas it was a fool’s errand. <br/><br/>At about two eights into the meal we simultaneously came to an abrupt halt. The look of disappointment on the faces of 3 grown men was overwhelming. Never before have I ever experienced such sadness and I’ve watched the entirety of Marley and Me.<br/><br/>There was however one beacon of light in this meal, the 1.25 L bottle of refreshing Coca Cola. The fizzy brown water was neatly packaged and with bright red label slapped across the clear bottle indicating that it was indeed, Coca Cola. Upon opening the bottle, “ksssssh” was like an angelic voice from the heavens coming down to reassure us that this divine essence would wash away what we had just experienced and bring us back to a simpler time. 10/10, top notch coke if I’ve ever had one.<br/><br/>As I write this, I am struggling to find the appropriate words to describe the state that the members of this household are in two days removed from this ordeal. Confusion, depression, sadness, disappointment, shock, is it a combination of all this? How this institution has achieved an urbanspoon rating of 91%, now down to 90% after a lengthy one second of debilitation on my part, I will never know. <br/><br/>I will definitely be recommending this place to the mates who would ditch you in a heartbeat for a girl, people who share too much info about their feelings, babies, meals on Facebook and my mate Adam because he beat me at FIFA.
Lynnkon
On a particularly hungry Wednesday night when Vegie bar & Yong Greens had a minimum half hour wait. Shawcross welcomed us in, pick of the litter table choices. Friendly, cute servers. Tasty vegetarian "livin on the veg" pizza. Don't be put off by the 'slaw' topping, it's delish!<br/>Even got a free sample alcoholic beverage from the owner(?) after asking him for his recommendation drink wise. <br/><br/>I regret forgetting to show em my tips. <br/>Thx Shawcross.
Nicklamberton
Rubbish!!! after making the mistake of buying a slice, then strangely waited 20 minutes for it to be heated up, obviously was forgotten about, despite the apology it was incredibly dry and totally unedible, to be expected, I would have been happy with a cold piece instead, ill never go back
Peter.critch91
Pizza's really ain't that good. I've been going to Shawcross Pizza for about a 2 years now, I considered my self a regular customer, my first impression was WOW. But slowly I've seen a decline in the quality and customer service which has left me to change my opinion on the shop. In conclusion don't go to this place prices are defiantly not worth it and the customer service SUCK!

I love this pizza

I had a pizza last week. That was crap and soggy..Im not gonna go anymore..

We've had deliveries from here a few times and it's taken only ~20 mins or so. "How do they manage to do it so quick when they must be busy?" we thought. <br/><br/>I'll tell you how. They ignore in store diners. We dined in for 5 pizzas. About half an hour after ordering we were pretty starving. At 45 mins we asked about them. "oh um yeah we've just got lots of other ppl to do first but they're being made now", despite us ordering about half hour before all of them. Meanwhile a steady stream of deliveries going out the door the whole time. At the hour mark we were told the delay was because their oven was broken. You've been sending raw pizza out the door the whole time?! <br/>An hour and 10 mins in we were about ready to leave and it showed, so we got free nachos which was nice. When we declined the next jug, just before an hour and a half after ordering, the pizzas arrived at our table. Thank f@#%.<br/>Apparently it took so long because they didn't wanna send pizzas out at different times.<br/>I saw one (of the several) delivery guys go in and out for 4 different deliveries while we waited. The entire rest of the restaurant had pizzas well before us when we ordered first. We can see the pizzas, don't tell us the ovens broken!!!<br/>Probably just wanted us to buy more jugs while we waited.<br/>Anyway the pizzas taste good but I wouldn't wait 90mins for one. Also they claim 1 22" pizza is the same as 4 12" pizzas (therefore 4x as $$$). Not even close, do the maths.
Z
Gotta have the huge Pizza with a couple of mates, it's awesome.
Kirsty Young
I actually can't stop thinking about Shawcross pizzas. I pretty much cry myself to sleep each night because I know I don't have the stomach space for a 22", it's that good. So far my favourite is the PIG. Staff are great too, so keep up the great work!
Hiz
Sometimes a few extra bucks is the difference between a drunken regret and the most delicious memorable snack you'll have. Closest thing to a NY slice on the northside of melb. Bueno!
Jim Bob
Fantastic pizza, quick if you want a slice. Notorious P.I.G is sensational. Beer on tap was cheap and tasty too.
Dianne Johnston
The best pizza!
GetInMyBelly
Pizza!!!!. Pizza done at this best for what you pay.<br/>All makes sense when you have it in your gob.<br/><br/>Still not to sure if i'd do the challenge though
Tony O'Brien
Shawcross Pizza. The chicken pizza was nice (Big Texas??). Could have done with a little more meat and the crusts were a little big. Overall, the flavours were nice though and the staff were fantastic. Great location too.
Tank Pentreath
BEST pizza, had a selection of 4 different pizzas and they were all delicious.
Jordon Garcia
Friendly staff and tasty food, the top spot to go when in the area and in need of a good feed
Jeremy K
When I spend $32 on two meat pizzas, I expect more than $2 worth of meat. The crust was pretty good, but the skimpy toppings are insane. I can only hope they ran out of toppings the night I ordered, because otherwise they are just ripping people off. The meatball pizza had three slices with literally no meat at all - after we redistributed, each slice had an average of about half a teaspoon of meat. The Notorious PIG pizza was only marginally better. Will not order from here again, I like meat too much.
Damien
I was not impressed with this place. The pizza was OK but the price was ridiculous. We ordered two slices of pizza and two beers. The price was $37! I could have ordered two large pizzas from somewhere else. Each slice cost $10. I would recommend you go elsewhere for pizza
Oliver Twist
What a great take on NY style pizza, a friend introduced me to Shawcross the other night and I'm glad he did. It's not just the pizzas that are good its also the salads that hit the mark as well. Notorious P.I.G was the winner on this visit but we will be back again soon, especially when we live so close!
Brad Dunn
Best Pizza I've ever had - and that's the problem.. In a way, I hate Shawcross Pizza because I want it all the time and that is seriously not healthy. I really wish these guys delivered all week - it's pretty frustrating. The pizza. So good. The pepperoni by the slice is freaking tasty. But it would be more tasty if they delivered all week - yeah - you see what I've done here right?
Lily IrriTait
So tasty and reasonable. Staff very friendly and thoughtful - get yow ass down to this rad house of food heaven for a super feed
Jacob Davies
Awesome slice of pizza. Funky shop and great menu selection. Had a pizza with bacon, jalapenos and bbq sauce with a lil rocket salad on the sode. Flippin amazing!! Wish i lived closer for deliveries. Will be back
Woffie
No Thanks. I was attracted to this place after many delicious experiences at Phat Brats. But after paying $7 for a very average slice of pizza I was quite disappointed. This pizza resembles NY slices in shape alone, the taste is very average- think Pizza Hut. I'll give them some credit, they've got all that's superficial correct; the interior and design is great and inviting, and as I said the pizza looks the part. But there's no substance to taste or place. And if this doesnt change I doubt Shawcross Pizza will have long jeopardy. Woffies tip: Do your bloody research and fix those recipes!!!! you could go gangbusters if you manage to serve Melbourne a REAL NY SLICE!

Delicious!. We've had Shawcross several times since it opened and it is so yummy! The slices are huge and worth every dollar! The vego options are just as appealing as the meat pizzas (lamb and artichoke is my fav). And did I mention the eye candy of the owners ;)

Simple, tasty, uncomplicated. Exactly what a pizza joint should be. Go out of your way to grab a slice!

Great pizza, great value, a refreshing and unique take on the friendly neighborhood pizza joint. The service was friendly and effiecent and I can confirm from my second visits that the salads are as tasty as the pizzas. With quality St. Ali coffee thrown in you can't go wrong with this place.

Friday Night Bite @ Shawcross Pizza. Decided to dine at Shawcross on a whim, beautiful night in Brunswick and chose to eat outside. I had read very positive reviews about Shawcross, therefore, I had to see if the pizza lived up to these positive reviews, it did!<br/><br/>Between 3, we grabbed 3 different pizza's and each one was unique and exceptional! Spoke with the manager and he recommended we try the coffee as he claimed they spend a fortune on the coffee machine, well, that didn't disappoint either! <br/><br/>Great food and lovely staff, will definitely be back!

Very disappointing. Sloppy, greasy slices and uninteresting salad. Indifferent service. Massively over-priced for something you'd expect to find in a food court at a shopping centre. Bring back the old kebab shop it replaced! Also, to pass on a comment from a vego friend of mine - why insult your intended customers with off-putting names like Bloody Vegans?

Delightul staff and the biggest late night slice of pizza. Pleased.

Superb food, awesome value, and happy and friendly staff! Love their NYC insprired interior and new age share-style dining option. An absolute must for anyone who loves pizza.

MrArthur. I have now been to Shawcross Pizza twice since opening and it won't be my last. I can not speak highly enough of their great tasting pizzas, with amazing crust and fresh toppings. Service was friendly and quick. Looking forward to my next meal there.

Seriously Yum. Gee Wizz where do i start... On my first visit to Shawcross i was impressed by the atmosphere the place generated, especially being so new. The layout, staff and menu's mirror what you'd expect in NYC. I just cant wait until they get their Liquor License! Now for the Pizza... I went for the Aloha Motha F#$%... Who ever thought rocket would taste so good on Pizza? And the crust, WOW to be modest it leaves your franchise shops for dead, even it's namesake, which previously was my favorite pizza! My only regret was sharing it with my MRS. Never mind i was back there 3 days later to get one for myself.<br/><br/>Couldn't recommend this joint any more... but don't take my word for it, give it a crack yourself!<br/><br/>Ohh and get amongst those killer Nachos nom nom nom

Quality pizza joint without the price tag. With all the pizza joints that have opened up in the last few months, I was worried that Shawcross wouldn't make the cut. But they pulled through and their pizzas are a touch gourmet without being too fancy and all of them are under $16.5. Awesome value, especially with places like Baby Pizza selling theirs around the $20 mark and more. Funnily enough, I've found it hard to go past their salads!

Shaw thing. Pretty stoked that Shawcross came through with the goods. Had high expectations seeing it's run by the Phat Brats crew. Been back three times and tried the Durkah Durkah, Notorious P.I.G and Broseppi, all of which were miles above anything on the strip. Slices are ginormous and equally as good - best to save those for the late night stumble home.

Shawcross Pizza is all about restraint. No fancy gimmicks, just 100% tasty thin crusted pizza with a swollen crust. You can choose the usual toppings or select one of their more adventurous concoctions. I give the thumbs up to the vegetarian or any of the lamb combos. The fit-out is organic and homely, but grab a sidewalk table for soaking up the Brunswick Street vibe. Oh, and did I mention the $5 slices if you want to eat and run? Fast food never tasted so good.

Awesome, closest thing I've had to real New York pizza since we got back. Didn't get to try the meatball one which looks amazing. Will be headed back soon.

Fresh, new with a great menu. The salads are awesome. It's not your regular pizza restaurant. A return visit is a must just to try the rest.

He Says...For me, Shawcross definitely embodies that kind of classy takeaway dude food I love. I enjoyed the pizza, it’s not traditional by any sense, but the combinations were good, and I love the crazy names, like Bigger Than Texas. <br/>She Says...My experience at Shawcross was less traumatising but infinitely more disappointing.

A Slice of New York in Brunswick Street... the Notorious P.I.G is a gourmet take on your classic ‘meat lovers’... For the vegetarians, there’s the Ridgy-Didge, as well as the Bloody Vegans.. There’re even salads, nachos, St Ali specialty coffee and BYO.

Another new kid on the block and the cool dudes have arrived with their killer pizzas! Shawcross Pizza is a friendly place to drop in for a slice or two… or three! They are so good you will want to stay all night! It’s an easy going vibe with friendly staff and a fun menu Pizzas, slices, salads and the perfect three starters – nachos, garlic & herb bread and triple cheese bread! Happy to take up the offer of some Nachos whilst we work through the mouth watering pizza choices!! Nothing fancy but well made, perfectly melted cheese and tasted goooood!! Pizza time, I want them all all but not today! The ‘Mexecutioner’ made me smile- we had to order it!! Chorizo, mozzarella, spicy salsa, sour cream and chilli…. frickin’ awesome!! Nothing more I can say!! The Notorious PIG! Pork Sausage, Bacon, mozzarella, jalepenos, BBQ sauce and onion…. not the healthiest choice but it was sooooo good! Loved it! I did beg a few times to the lovely owner ‘Izza’ – pizza without the P!! (maybe not spelt like

Thompson has sourced local produce to create pizzas such as the ‘Notorious P.I.G’ with Italian pork sausage, bacon, jalapenos, mozzarella, BBQ sauce and onion; along with ‘The Mexicutioner’; piled with chorizo, mozzarella, spicy salsa, chilli and a drizzle of sour cream. Vegetarians, vegans and the gluten intolerant are catered for at Shawcross, thanks to rennet free cheese and the option of a GF base. <br/>

With a focus on pizzas and salads, I was interested to see how this match would be made. The pizza was a modern take on the Italian favourite. They describe it as New York style.  The base was thin under topping, and fluffy at the crust. Our order was for the “Livin’ on the veg” ($15), which was mainly flavoured with pesto. With ricotta, mushrooms and fresh salad, this pizza somehow seemed healthy. The “Trade Joe” ($14) was an even healthier mix of peas, black beans, pumpkin, red rice, black beans and goats’ che

On the whole, I like Shawcross, the pizzas are tasty, well priced and with plenty of other stuff on the side to make it a well balanced enough meal (or not in our case I guess). The vibe's also relaxed and easy going, as any pizza place should be, and although they haven't quite gotten their full liquor license yet (crossing fingers it'll be in within the next week or so!), you can BYO ($5 corkage per bottle) and enjoy your own brews or grapes. Or if you live nearby you might be able to just get delivery too. Lucky bitches who do!

So what does New York-style pizza even mean? “The most notable difference between New York-style and other American pizzas is its thin hand-tossed crust, made from a high-gluten bread flour. It is known for its large, wide, thin, and foldable shape.”<br/>
