Review Commercial Club Hotel - Fitzroy

James Aitken
Classic pub vibe, nowhere is doing it like the commercial these days. Always a good time. Superb staff, great pub food, nothing better

Really enjoyable Fitzroy local. Food is great pub food. Very reasonable price. Relaxed vibe and perfect beer. Should come here more often. Lots of Fitzroy locals off the main drag of Brunswick St and a few famous faces staying unnoticed while enjoying a beer in quiet

My mate and I visited this hotel. This is a great pub serving some good craft beers. The service was excellent and friendly. With a big kitchen and dining room this place is definitely worth a visit.

Yeah nah decent I guess, Parma was nice, beer was cold. What more could you ask for really?

Great bar, great staff, good beer selection, the food is really nice and very well priced. One of those places you could sit at for hours with your friends!

A lot of pubs aspire to be 'your local' and be as comfortable as your lounge room. This place lives up to that dream. Friendly staff and good food add to the mix. It's not flash in terms of decor but that just adds to the feeling of being a comfortable place. Context: Friday 19 march 2021. no tickets to the footy (50% capacity) and this place took a booking for dinner 'with kids' no problem. The staff then covered all our needs without being over the top. I know this sounds a bit over the top and I was a bit hesitant to provide such a good review but I live in Albury and unfortunately it is not my local. If you live in Fitzroy it should be yours.

When we decided to visit the Commercial Club this week my initial thought was "Haven't we done this pub already?". We drive past it a lot and I have always filed it away in my brain as already visited, however I searched the site and could find no mention of us ever visiting the Commercial Club... To be honest I think I was confusing it with The Empress, a pub we reviewed in 2016 that is about 1km up Nicholson Street from the Commercial Club.

This is a real old school pub. We came here for a farewell party and had exclusive use of the outdoor area. I enjoyed the quick service of the pub staff and we also snacked on lamb wraps and mini pizzas.

Fish n chips $16, nice steak $26. In 2017, these are great prices. And both meals were REALLY good. The steak was melt-in-your-mouth. And the chips were sensational. Lots of other choices on the board , but we were very happy with our choices. A nice selection of beers as well.

This place is great it's never super busy and the staff are always cheerful, everything is really reasonably priced and the menu has heaps of selection and is tasty and fresh!

This is the best pub in town. Fantastic staff, great range of beers, good pub meals and a space to suit everyone. I just wish it was it my local.

Great Find!. Having just discovered this pub on the out skirts of Yarraville, I am very impressed, although the exterior is in need of work, the interior is ecclectic and homely. The food is incredibly good value for money and the staff are very hospitable. I have found a new local.

Spot on. My partner and I held our engagement party at the Commercial Club Hotel last Saturday night. What a perfect venue it was! Patrick and all of the staff were laid back but organised and made organising the event a breeze. The fingerfood was spot on and plentiful. We made use of the cosy courtyard while the older guests mingled inside. Everyone commented on what a great night it was and how good the food and venue were. Highly recommended!

This is our local, settled on after an extensive search and study of the form of many local pubs when we moved here 3 years ago. It wins because of Patrick and his friendly team, the chips and the ever changing craft beer options. Relaxed setting, classic front bar and always a good time!

Cool pub. A really nice pub with a great atmosphere. Food is very cheap and plenty of different types of beer on tap.

Good solid local with a sharp beer offer that is well looked (clean & cold) after lots of locals willing to talk all things footy and cricket

A Fitzroy Favourite. The food is much better than expected from a pub, but still at pub prices. Whether it's the pasta, pizza, parma, burger, steak, or specials, you wont be disappointed.

Great food, great people, great place!

Courtyard, relaxed, value.. Excellent estate wines by the glass and the interesting, thin $10 pizzaa are what atttracts me, as well as the on-the-ball and friendly service at the Commercial Club Hotel in Nicholson Street, Fitzroy, which you'd drive past if you weren't looking for it, but when you find it you're happy, particularly in summer with the large walled in court yard and big airy rooms to relax in. Friendly patrons are mostly 20-30 something grunge-yuppies, and the pub is usually packed Sunday evenings around 7. Good fun and value. J.

Simply a great pub.. The Commercial Club has basically everything you want in your pub: excellent beer and wine selection, friendly unpretentious staff, fresh simple food made with quality ingredients without the huge price tag, and a great courtyard and a range of cozy nooks to sit in. Well worth the short walk around the corner away from the vexations of Brunswick street.

Just the best local pub. Great simple food and fantastic friendly service.

Fantastic local pub off the beaten path. Great staff, beer selection and food. Pretty quiet on weekdays with a big back patio area and pool table as well. Definitely my favorite Fitzroy pub for a chill night out.

Top pub grub!. Great food at reasonable prices - what else are you looking for? If it's a painfully full belly, go somewhere else because The Commercial Club only serves proper portion sizes.

Friday Night Pub Walk - AT Simple pub fare- not much choice but tasty and good value. Steaks and lentil & mushroom pie received thumbs up. Place has potential but small crowd makes it a good place for a chat - not much atmosphere. Service 3/5, ambience 2/5, food 3/5
