Review Mr Burger - Fitzroy

Daniel Masters
Fresh, tasty, hot, flavoursome burgers. I haven't been disappointed yet.

Very Bad Experience ... Burger is totally red from the inside and felt raw, Fries was soooo salty too.
Ana
Good burgers, but missing that extra oomph to make them super delicious. But they use fresh ingredients and if you download the 100 orders app you can get $10 off your purchase when you use the app, ended up paying $1 for a burger

Consistently satisfied with the quality of burgers at this establishment. The standard of service offered, especially by the woolly haired fellow (didn’t catch his name), is on-par with some of the finest burger joints in Melbourne. Will be returning indefinitely A++

Had the most incredible experience tonight... chips were CRISPY, burgers were COOKED TO PERFECTION and the staff and service was TOTALLY GORGEOUS! I’ll be back with the family very soon! Thank you to the blonde boy with the piercing for giving us his all even amidst close :) can always count on you guys

Mr chicken the worst chicken burger I have ever had in my life, unfortunately. Chicken was fried when I honestly prefer grilled, but that's only a preference of mine, apart from that the chicken was pink inside, tasting very heavy and oily. Staff friendly, but again the table-chairs are really uncomfortable , basically you have to eat with the table on your side and not in front of you (why has it been made like that??) $13 the burger and $4 a soft drink...I wouldn't go back.

Having lived in Melbourne for almost 20 years, I witnessed Mr Burger as a start-up burger joint that offer real beef-burgers. They actually started as a food truck! Good to know that they have expanded to more permanent shops. Keep up the good job!

Run by kids. Shop was dirty even through 4 staff were on. Food was good. Service was average.
Stephanie
Really appreciative that they still served us while closing down.
Honestly the trucker fries were surprisingly really delicious. The popcorn chicken pieces were a bit larger than I’d expect for popcorn chicken, was still okay though.

The first time I tried a Mr Burger burger I thought to myself "this is how I'm going to die", chowing down on some artery clogging burger and you know what? I seemed comfortable with such an outcome. This Brunswick Street store was the first of many I have since tried but you can't get over your first which is why for me this is my favourite of all their stores and trucks. To be fair the staff when I last visited weren't particularly a selling point as they seemed disinterested in the job at hand. Still built a nice greasy burger though. I've tried all carnivorous items on the menu and my favourite is the Mr Double. Shakes are good as well. I like to think of my visits here as my dirty little secret.

I ordered a Mr Double a few times through uber eats. Always a hit. This is one of the best burgers in tow, full of flavours, very juicy, great fries.

Haven't had Mr burger in a while and decided to catch up with a friend over one! Ordered the Mr Burger and unfortunately it did not live up to my memories. The patty was abit too salty tasted a little too sloppy! May have been an off day but quite disappointed.

Burgers have nice flavour and recommend the “mr burger” one the most. However the restaurant itself feels cold and the toilet area is very bad.

Gotta say, chips are very average here. Onto the main draw: Had the Mr Meat burger which is the original Mr Burger with the addition of a slice of bacon, caramelised onions and BBQ sauce. Was happy to see that they use my preferred type of squishy light brioche buns. Flavours were good until I got half way through and then suddenly felt all the salt and pepper plus salty bacon pile up on me. I echo other reviewers here - ease up on the seasoning and it'll be a good quick burger fix!

Service was friendly and fast. I might pop into another branch to try the other burgers but probably not again at this location on Brunswick St.

A fairly lifeless cookie cutter fitzroy restaurant with a slightly above average burger. They were in early, but the American food trend is out of control. They'll have to do better to sustain their franchise ambitions in the area and beyond.

Grabbed a quick bite to go. The beef is not the best of quality so be weary but the fried chicken is huge and tasty and loaded fries are where it is at for them

Solid veggie burger without being spectacular. Pattie was good, bun was good, probably could've used more sauce. Chips with the Cajun salt were yum.

Nice without being amazing. Lovely without being stunning. If this was a date, there might be a second one but it depends on the wine... burger was nice enough but I simply didn't fall in love. Had a Mr Double which filled me to the brim. I'll probably head to a Mr Burger again to see if I missed the point. Get there!

After a few drinks out, decided to get some takeaway from Mr Burger. I got the Mr Double and large chips and would have to agree with some of the other reviews that the overall service and friendliness of the staff could definitely improve to compete with other businesses around the area. The chips were average - hot and fresh, but they lacked anything worth mentioning. The burger was on the very greasy side, probably something that could work if you were too drunk to see, but for a couple more dollars, I'd probably head down brunswick st and get a Oh Brother from Brother Burger.

I don't mind their burgers here, but they're always a bit too greasy and salty, and leave me feeling a little ill after I've had one. Then about six months passes, I forget that ill feeling, and decide I want one again. Rinse and repeat. So better in idea than reality for me. The chips never quite make the grade for me either, but then again, when it comes to burgers and chips, I am more of a chips and burgers kind of gal. From my eating experiences in the US, I know it's possible to make a chain burger taste juicy, 'clean' and completely addictive (Shake Shack, In n' Out), but I haven't quite found it here in Melbourne yet.

If you're sitting on the grass in Fitzroy gardens enjoying your surroundings the appeal of street food and food vans is very appealing. You're willing to indulge in something a little bit oily and naughty. Sitting on hard benches with minuscule tables in the middle of Fitzroy though does not appeal to me at all. Overpriced oily food. Slow service and pretentious staff who seem genuinely bothered by the fact that you are making them serve you is not somewhere I will be visiting again. Stick to the food truck guys!! You can get away with sub-standard frozen food and poor service there. I'll even thank you for it!! The restaurant for me is a massive miss though. 🙁

I have only had the opportunity to eat there once, but i think its probably one of the best burgers ive had in australia. I think it could hold its own in the usa. Fries were good too.

Tasty sort of hipsterish burger chain in brunswick street. Mr Meat is my favourite whilst a little inconsistent at times it delivers on Brioche buns which I like. The Mr Burger is good aswell only real differences is the sauces and one has cooked onion and the other raw, Better option than souvlaki.

Mr Double was the burger of choice with double beef, double cheese, double bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and the custom trucker sauce which left us with a duplex of flavours!

Overall a quality burger for a food truck chain, with delicious high grade patties that melt in your mouth, topped with amazing sauce, and tightly wrapped for instant consumption.
Sotasty
Had the Mr Chicken burger. The chicken was burnt, oily and very gross. Like biting into a meaty cookie, yuk! The chips are ok and the service is slow even when they aren't busy.
Matt
Average Melbourne burger joint. The burgers are pretty small here, the place also felt a little ineffecient, with food taking a while despite not being that busy at the time. Also made a mistake with our order, but these things happen sometimes, not a big deal. Better burgers available around town though.
Mel
Mr Burger is everything you think of when you think American food. Greasy, soggy, fake and fattening. If you're after a sloppy meal after a night out, this could substitute a kebab but having it as a meal is a little unsettling. The burgers themself are smaller than expected. There are many places to have nicer burgers but if you're after the full fat effect, this is the place.

It's been awhile since my last Burger, so I thought 'may as well try the Mr Burger, located here'.
I've tried them in the food truck days and the outlet across from the Vic Market.
Now that they've become quite a burger behemoth, I thought that the quality would be compromised, but nope.
Still an over-all, well-crafted burger from the same simple menu.
Burger 101.

You know when you go against your better judgement? Yea? That just happened. I visited Mr Burger despite banning it a year ago. Tonight I ordered (to takeaway) a Mr Chicken w cheese and trucker chips (small) w/out bacon. What I got however is a burger without cheese and chips without bacon AND trucker sauce and with only a tiny smattering of cheese. The burger rates a 5 -the chicken is nice and crispy but fatty and gristly. The chips get a 2 - they're soggy and flavourless and I've added my own salt and mayo. Next time I'll be sure to go with my gut and go elsewhere.

I got chips here with a side of tomato sauce. As chips go they were quite nice, nothing fancy, although too salty for my liking for sure....

The burgers here tonight were very good, only criticism was that they seriously lacked seasoning. We had the ranch fries as well; same story. Please put a little more salt on the food and it'll be a lot better! Otherwise a pleasurable experience on barmy Summer's evening.

Mr. Burger – Mr Meat. Lots going on here, with plenty of meaty flavour coming from the patty, bacon and cheese. Bit of a soggy bun experience, and I didn’t like the BBQ sauce that was on it at all. Pretty average burger for me, despite the rave reviews from so many. Worth a try, but nothing to write home about. Got this one from the truck at Edinburgh Gardens, North Fitzroy.

Its just not nice.
Burger buns soggy, cheese is of the crappy American variety and expensive for the pleasure of both.
With so many burger places I don't understand how this place is thriving.
Andrew
Burgers are quite good from here. I wish they were a little bigger but that's just my opinion.
The Trucker Chips are what I come here for. My mate who lives in the area is often amazed at how I smash a large Trucker Chips and a burger on my own.
Everything is cooked to order and the ingredients are of a good quality.
Biscuit Musca
Heard about this burger and their food truck from lots of friends. So decided to try. Ordered mr burger and mr hot. Nice looking burgers and tasty. The chips was okay. Overall it's a pleasant experience.

Great burger, definitely better than the ones they make in the trucks. Gotta love the cheese that just melts in between. Chips were ordinary. Always great to come here when wanting a good burger.

These guys simply make great burgers. I've tried both at there food truck and there store and both times were delicious. I always ask for extra pickles as I think it gives a great balance to the burger. Sometimes you get too much bun and it ruins the burger, but these guys do a great job on getting it right. It's on par with huxtaburger and huxtaburger is one of my favourite burger joints. Oh and there chips are great as well. Overall, id happily go here anytime.

The words “Food” and “Truck” were never two nouns I thought I’d lovingly put together in a sentence, at least not until now. Mr. Burger has given this vegetarian hope there's a decent veg burger to be had in Melbourne! Find out what I thought by ↓↓ clicking the link below ↓↓

One of the best Burgers I've ever had! The meat was perfectly cooked and the burger ingredients were super fresh! The poutine chips were nice but I wouldn't have them again.

I usually really enjoy Mr Burger but recently I've had a few issues when I've had to make simple requests. They seem so stuck in their rut of producing the 5 burgers they offer that even though they say they can respond to very small modifications; no mayo or well cooked meat, once the order is taken and cooking starts the request is lost. I often have my burgers as take away but after my last experience I'm not going back for take away as it ends with me getting home or back to the office, opening ny purchase and realising I can't actually eat all of it. Given the size of their menu you'd think responding to simple requests shouldn't be that hard but they seem to find it repeatedly challenging; little bourke & fitzroy stores!
I Just Love Good Food
My favourite at this place is always Mr.Meat.. Mr. Burger is just like a cheese burger. Get Mr. Meat!! The patty is always tender and juciy, barbeque and mayonnaise sauce make it into pefection. Need to get one now!!
Mattiva
Really good burgers as always from Mr Burger. But the restaurant itself has 0 atmosphere. It's an empty, sterile shell. They could really turn a place like this, with its cheap, tasty burgers and beers into a bustling venue. After all, Melbourne is the place to do it.

I am a regular at Mr Burger :) its awesome! perfect late night snack after the pub
I came into the store last night (Saturday 27th) food was great and the staff so friendly even though it was very busy.

thanks guys
Foodie87
Didn't enjoy the burger, it was flavourless and greasy. The chips were disgusting as well, tasted like they had been sitting in the freezer for w while.

Good burgers and good chips.
Portions are decent.
Price is kinda cheap.
Decor and ambience is nice as well.
Service is good.

Pretty good for a late night snack coming home from the pub.

Spot on, Mr. Hot and a Melbourne bitter Is amazing. Staff are awesome too, one of the best burgers I've had. Price is reasonable and quick service.

Only been there once. Just arrived in town after driving from Perth. Really basic menu with only three or for burgers, however excellent execution. Truly satisfying burger!

When I ask Yuye what he wants to eat for lunch or dinner, more than half the time he replies ‘food trucks’. He doesn’t specify what type, whether it’s burgers, tacos or some other type, I think it’s just the idea of eating freshly made food from a moving location that’s so appealing to him. The desire to hunt it down somehow makes him happy, and of course the few times we’ve had such food it was delicious too. New food trucks have been appearing in Melbourne’s various locations consistently since a few years ago and has become a very popular dining choice. Good for us I say because I totally love that street food feel. While we were on our way to the airport to pick up Yuye’s parents, we decided to eat at a food truck beforehand. Yuye was in charge of looking up the location but when we parked, we realised that the truck didn’t operate until dinner time. It turned out that there aren’t many food trucks operating in the late afternoon. After some driving around we decided to stop outside a Mr Burger location and wait for it to open at 5pm. My stomach was growling so audibly when we finally received our food. We literally chowed it down in a matter of minutes. It was that delicious, perhaps partly because we were that hungry too. Prices here are quite reasonable as well. I ordered the Mr Hot with a beef patty, cheese, bacon, onion rings chilli mayo and jalapenos ($12). They really don’t skimp on the ingredients and I had a whole layer of jalapenos. It was actually very chilli and I had to pull some out. It was quite a tasty and filling burger. The patty was thick and juicy, seasoned and cooked just right. Yuye ordered the Mr Meat with beef, cheese, bacon, caramelised onions, pickle, BBQ sauce and mayo ($11). I didn’t eat any of his since it was very messy but he said it was very delicious. The patty was juicy and the caramelised onions gave it a slightly sweet aroma. To go with the meal, we also ordered the trucker chips ($8) which was a huge box of fries topped with

Just what I needed. Nice burgers, good service. What's there not to like?

What a place burgers are sizzling hot and so are the staff ;)

I think these guys are stoned, I've seen continenal drift move faster than these guys, not to mention the yelling, swearing and inattention if one of there mates arrive. Oh and the burgers are nothing special
Aana
This store really lets the other Mr Burgers down. Sat inside waiting for takeaway as burgers were first made then the chips. Saw my two burgers sitting there for over 10minutes fully made and getting cold before the chips were ready. Not sure 30minutes for two burger and chips is acceptable time frame especially with only one other order ahead of me? And the two girls kept on taking orders - think they need to finish a few before starting new orders. Will stick to the chapel st or food trucks next time. If I was a new customer without previous experience would never go back - even heard another group next to me comment they wouldn't. Sad as the other stores are amazing!! If it's your first experience of Mr Burger don't try this store.

Was there 2 days ago and ordered a mr burger with an extra patty. Somehow they managed to serve me a flavourless mountain of grease. I can't understand why people rave about this place or their burger trucks. The meat they use is disgusting. This is the second time I've had a mr burger and I've been disappointed both times. You're much better off going to the roadhouse burgers and dogs literally 100m away just off Johnstone street. Better price and much tastier.
M Wakey
The vege burger here is pretty plain and the service was terrible (yeah even for what's essentially a fast food place).
Sandrasw85
So good. This was so delicious one of the best burgers, so flavoursome! Yum!
Peter Evans
Average. Went to mr burger this week expecting something special gotta say I left rather underwhelmed . Had the veg option and it was fairly basic. Not sure how it will go in Brunswick street as it's becoming a bit of a chain and we seen what happened to grill'd.
Nothing bad here just a bit run of the mill with lots of hype. I think brother burger or roadhouse are much tastier options.
The World Loves Melbourne
Mr Burger is a Melbourne favourite when it comes to the insatiable demand for quality burgers. Just look at their Facebook page which has around 50,000 followers! With food trucks that dominate the Melbourne burger scene (we are regulars), Mr Burger now has 3 permanent locations.
Nic Cril
Mr Burger in North Melbourne is their 4th permanent store, (to go with 4 trucks) and first in North Melbourne.
