Review Aphro And Wolfe - Fitzroy

Great sandwiches and coffee. Would definitely rate as one of Melbourne’s finest establishments! The toasties were crispy and buttery, just as a sandwich should be. Hurry, visit today!

Good sandwich, reasonable price, cozy vibe. The Latino Toastie is one of the best I’ve tried in Melb, love the jalapeño and pulled pork combination. Reuben Toastie and Three Cheese is also very great. Def recommended for Toastie lovers.

Yummy BLT and very homely too. Great service but a little slow. Good coffee ☕ nice little cafe to go for takeaway toasties during lockdown.

Fantastic tasting toasties, it was difficult to choose what to get as all the options sound delicious. Nice coffee and great service. The cafe has a really rustic feel to it.

First-time customer - super glad I came across Aphro & Wolfe while hunting for some takeaway brunch nearby. Ordered the Madeleine which was so tasty and one of the best vegan toasties I've tried to date ☺️

Got the full breakfast, small venue/team and had to remind of order however they made it fresh, it was hot and you see it all being made in front of you, good for a Melbourne wintery morning - very popular

Finally tried their toasties after seeing so many good reviews and recommendations. Overall experience was under our expectations. Toasties we ordered were little dry, not enough dressing for a whole sandwich. The sandwiches we had were under seasoned. It takes a little of our waiting time for these as well. Coffee was a little below average too, sad to say. But service and other stuff was pretty good, no complaints.

Best gluten free toasties ever. Also great coffee.

A really cool little spot in Fitzroy North, Aphro and Wolfe make a great toastie. The perfect spot for a quick lunch when you are craving something cheesey!! With a funky vibe and fitout, dining here is a comfortable experience and it's heaps of fun.

The staff are so lovely and service was really quick. The toasties themselves were so fresh and delicious. The Fun Guy was filled with juicy mushrooms and was so tasty. The Cuban had tender meat and loads of flavour and the bread on both toasties was crisp and delicious. They also have fab coffee here and some sweet treats. Also a fab place for take away, Aphro and Wolfe is a friendly place churning out fab toasties with loads of loyal customers who just love these crispy delights.

Delicious toasties and good price. Shared the Mac and cheese and the Cubano and smashed both in 10 mins. Conveniently located if you’re heading into the city, or a nice place to relax and enjoy the vibes

Great coffee, laid back service and retro fitout. The toastie blew my mind; three cheese with added ham! Suh. Blime. So very rich, oozy cheesy tasty goodness - everything a toastie should be, right?! I cannot stand when I’m served a toastie and it’s dry, or the bread can’t handle the filling and just squishes or slops. This toastie held its posture. Crispie buttery outer crust. And the generous oozy cheese combo was cheddar, mozzarella and haloumi... yasssss! Probably didn’t need the ham but I didn’t quite know what I was getting... but loved it just the same. Only thing, would have been finished off well with a side of something pickled... like a cucumber or onion... just needed that tart hit to relive the choise!
Noted were the sheer number of peeps coming for toastie takeaways. Awesome for a drive by indulge.
Also, we went on a Monday and the Reuben toastie was not available as they’d sold out Sunday; so that’s a good sign! Next time I’ll be back to sample that Reuben! If I could I’d give this place 4.5 stars.

What a great place for brunch. One the quieter side of Brunswick Street this is a really cool cafe.

With an old school retro fitout this cafe has a relaxed vibe which was perfect for a quiet brunch. The service was excellent!

My strong skinny latte was really good, flavoursome and not bitter.

I ordered bacon and poached eggs and this was spot on. I really enjoyed this meal. The bacon was crispy and the eggs, yummy.

My partner had a toastie which I tried and it was really tasty too, I can see why this cafe specialises in them.

And this cafe was quite cheap making it an excellent alternative to other places. Definitely worth a visit!

Toasties are large (can share or cover two meals) and are crisped perfectly on the outside. The ham they use is off the bone and thick cut which is a nice change to the standard ham n cheese toasties most places offer.
Today I tried the Reuben. I’ve had Reuben sandwiches at other cafes which were far too greasy to eat. However, the one here is perfect. Still very rich, but not too much mayo, and a good amount of tangy pickle which balances out the flavour.

Love the atmosphere of this place! They make amazing coffee. I’ve no the opportunity to try the toasties yet but I definitely shall try it ASAP!

These guys make a great cup of coffee and some really tasty toasted sandwhiches. This is a great place for lunch. Chill vibes and friendly staff.

Ordered 3 toasties on UberEats, the reuben, latino and breakky. Reuben and Latino were amazing, half of one is enough to fill you up. The breakky was not as good, it lacked some flavor and looked under-filled compared to the other two. Also had chips which were under-cooked in my opinion and needed more seasoning. Over all it was a great meal and I would definitely return to try more toasties out!

I had a really disappointing experience here today. My toastie took over 30 minutes to arrive while my friend's breakfast came almost immediately. The shop wasn't even that busy. I had to chase it up and it still took another ten plus minutes to come. The toastie tasted fine but fairly poor value for what was essentially some chopped up chicken and cheese. My friend's side of mushrooms was inedible - too much balsamic unfortunately. Given my food was forgotten for so long an offer of an extra coffee to drink with my meal would have been appreciated as my first was well and truly finished... instead all I got was a weak apology and a bad experience.

The best sandwiches! I always order the organic chicken sandwich. It is consistently good. It's fresh and warm. They always deliver soon. The portion sizes are pretty good.

What a great little cafe. Dropped in for coffee only, however after the second cup (excellent brew) decided on eating purely on the positive comments eminating from the group on an adjacent table.
Had the Reuben on light rye and thoroughly enjoyed.
Good value and very satisfying.

A great cafe! I've been here a few times, and it's a really small but popular cafe. I ordered a hot coffee yesterday (could have been a dash hotter) and decided to nurse my hangover with the pulled pork toastie. What a treat. Best comfort food EVER! I've also had the mushrooms, which is so nice with the thyme. The staff are always so nice to my dog, and always have a bowl of water out (a small but welcome gesture). Great spot.

As a resident of Fitzroy North one is spoilt with choice for cafes. Aphro and Wolfe would have to be one of the best I’ve come across to date, ideally located near Fitzroy Gardens on Brunswick Street. The coffee (Padre) is consistently superb, one of the finest blends I’ve come across in Melbourne and as for the chai latte......like wow. The muffins and slices are exceptionally good, look out for the orange muffin, it’s a mouthful of loveliness and is made in house. Much work has been put into the decor (it was previously a fish and chip shop) with original features thoughtfully preserved by the talented owners. It’s like stepping into the comfort of an old friends place, soaked in hip and groove.
But the stand out is by far the service. A collection of some of the most delightful and skilled folk work here.
Two thumbs up from me.
I don't know what juice everyone is sipping on but that toastie was so bland tasting and slathered in butter I feel like my stomach is about to drop out my ass

You charge $2 for a single marshmallow, thats absolutely ridiculous! I just checked and a pack of 40 marshmallows from Coles is $2, so 1 costs 5 cents, thats a 4,000% mark up, what a joke!

Gourmet Toasties .. what a brilliant idea, numerous fillings to choose from Mexican, Latino, Cheesy, Bug Breakfast , Greek .. to your traditional fillings just to name a few. Funky retro style cafe with helpful friendly staff. Very filling toasties , left feeling very satisfied. Featured photos Chicken toastie and The Fun Guy toastie which is cheese and mushroom.

Second time here... toasties are delicious, super good value. Coffee was also great, my girlfriend drinks soy lattes which heaps of places can't get right but its good here. I have eaten the Ruben, sloppy joe, Mexican, Latino and ham and cheese they were all really good. The pulled pork in the Latino is bad ass.

Genuinely my favorite cafe, lucky enough to live around the corner. Best toasties (ever), amazing coffee, friendliest staff and nicest fit out in Fitzroy. If you haven't been then do yourself a favor and check it out!

visited today, had The Fun Guy & a perfect iced latte, and will definitely be back. Here is the rare no-nonsense coffee shop in fitzroy nth that I've been looking for

Very simply, best toasties I've had. Hearty, tasty and awesome value! Well worth it!! Coffee was great too and loved the chilled, retro vibe

I love this place! Don't know how there is so much inconsistency with the reviews.. Every time I've been I've had a massive, delicious toastie with generous fillings and coffee to boot. Yes it's expensive for a toastie but not when you consider the size and that it's a meal in itself. You'd pay more for the equivalent at a cafe with eggs on toast! Plus they use Stradda gluten free bread which is always a win in my books, especially when it's for a chicken and avo toastie ;)
SweetPea
This place is simple yet impressive. A little pricey however definitely worth it as the toaster are to die for and coffee is strong (double shot) and good quality. My usual sandwich is the chicken! So good
Prue-stoneham
Small but interesting toastie menu. Nice coffee. Cute little place. Gigantic sized toasties, on very filling bread. Would prefer a little more sandwich filling and a little less bread.
Peter Evans
Quite like this place great retro fit out doing a limited menu of toasties/jaffles. The Reuben tasted yum and the coffee was good. Think like a previous reviewer it is a touch exy but everything else is good.
Brendan James Rigby
Forget these other haters. The toasties are super tasty, full of goodness. Coffee is also of the highest Fitzroy standard not to mention the customer service and vibes.
Felicity
Great coffee, way overpriced however.
As for the toasties, disastrous. Cheap thick white bread, light on fillings, nothing that stood out from the crowd, and again overpriced. Great location however
Chai lattes are special, the service I can't fault. The place does wrap you up. Perhaps I thinner bread and better quality bacon for the toasties, just a thought.

I've been so caught up with life, I haven't left a review for a place in ages. Let's start with the vibe, I knew as I walked in it was going to be a few hours before I'd leave. Something about the natural light and vintage furniture - just screams "Fitzroy". The wait staff superb and very responsive. Now, the toastie. I've made many toasties at home but these guys have it down to an art. That Reuben toastie just sat me on my backside. The size very fitting for the coin I put out. Topped it all off with a superb coffee. I live local and will most definitely be back.
Arabian Princess
Absolutely dismal Egg and Bacon Toastie ordered off Uber eats from this place. Super Expensive and was literally worse than maccas. In fact a Bacon and Egg Mcmuffin has a lot going for it if you're comparing it to this places Breaky Sandwich. Pictures are deceiving but I guess that's my fault for trusting a place on its pictures.
Claire
Most amazing chai lattes there and a great environment with a gorgeous manager, Everyone should defiantly come on in. Oh okay I have to write 140 words for this review to work ..... Chai great chai grea chai great
