Cool idea. Took way way too long to get a drink at the bar though, even for a busy Saturday. 10 minutes standing twiddling thumbs waiting on a wine is pretty bad, IMO. Ah well.

This is my favourite spot in Fitzroy right now. When you walk in and Dire Straits are playing with Seinfeld quotes all over the walls and cocktails to freakin’ die for - what else do you need in life?! Try peeling me away from this place every weekend for the rest of my life.

If you're a Seinfeld fan you HAVE to visit this place. Seinfeld paraphernalia everywhere and themed drinks and food items. It's great fun. I really loved the salami toastie I had, and I especially loved the old school arcade games you find there. Such fun!

Came here for the Wednesday night trivia night - really good fun if you are a Seinfeld fan, the questions are pretty difficult!
There needs to be a bigger menu, if there was some hot chips and a few more things that provide a good feed - it would take it to another level.
I can't believe there wasn't even a big salad!!

I absolutely loved my experience at George's Bar.  As a raging Seinfeld fan, I was like a little kid in a candy store enjoying myself while reading many quotes and memorabilia. The cocktails are on the cheaper side compared to other bars on Brunswick Street (George's Bar is just off). I enjoyed a long island iced tea and a Kirin - really happy with this because I am yet to find many places that have it on tap. The set up is great, it's open and spacious but its still cosy and intimate in the booth area. The guy behind the bar was also lovely, really helpful and knowledgeable!
I have no idea why it wasn't packed out on the Friday night we went because I loved it, can't wait to come back.

I'm massive fan of Seinfeld and enjoyed some of the bits and pieces scattered throughout the bar. Cocktails are the best partof the bar. I came with a fiend who never watched the show and didn't enjoy it as much as me.

Came here for a quick drink tonight. Vibes a bit off but cocktails were good. The bloody George was good and came with some nice add ons like ham, olives and pretzels. I was a bit put off by the Mortein can I could see from our booth but besides that the service and layout was fine.

I am a massive Seinfeld fan and have been for a while now. I visited this bar with not so high expectations and I'm really glad that I did.
PROS: great vibe, mixed crowd, an abundance of detail has gone into the decor and scattering it with George Constanza and Seinfeld themed memorabilia. With all the little things from the cocktails named "the phone message" and "the summer of George", the many famous George C. Quotes graffitied across the walls, the sketch of George in his Gore-tex coat and the modest American diner style booths and the cluttered and warm atmosphere - I could not keep a smile off my face as it was the combination of all these things that bring back fond memories of one of my all time favorite televisions shows.
CONS: just a couple of minor things; food options are limited here. There's pretzels and a few chocolate bars from the vending machine or select from a range of toasted sandwiches ($5 each) - I went with "the dealership" which was the sweet option and contained snickers, maplebutter and pretzels which was really delicious to be honest.

I will definitely be back to soak up the unique atmosphere. Loved it!

Probably appreciate the references a bit more if you're a Seinfeld fan. Still a good bar probably better for a drink then a full fledged meal. Good time to go now that the hype has died down. Serenity now!

George's Bar....an excellent homage to George Costanza and a place to unwind and enjoy the spirit of Seinfeld. We were there nice and early at 5:59pm right when the doors opened; this was a good move as the place was full within an hour or so. Ample space inside but I recommend coming early.

We had a variety of cocktails and toasties to fill up our bellies; everthing from a Summer of George to a Marisa Tomei (filled with vodka), from an Art Vandelay and the Quitter to the New Yorker (laden with salami)! The conclusion of this great night was long island iced teas with a 'cheers to the Festivus for the rest of us'!

Whoever rated this bar poorly either has no interest in Seinfeld or doesn't appreciate the quirkier things in life (in addition to having a good time?). I am a die-hard fan of Seinfeld and believe the owner of this joint did a credible job of showcasing the emotional flavour of George that is so quirky, so bald and so funny....Highly recommend George's bar for an awesome night out in Melbourne.

For a bar supposedly themed to Seinfeld and Georgia Constanza it was actually quite modest! But still I enjoyed the subtle references around the place. Was actually a nice venue, well set out with some cool decor options - loved the use of old church pews for bench seating along one side! $5 toasties were a hit, decent ingredients too which is good to know they don't skimp on quality! Tap list was good, some great local beers from little creatures. $20 jugs which is pretty standard these days and they were super accommodating and friendly to our fairly large group!

Love it. I want to buy this bar and live in it, so I can keep reliving the awesomeness which is George's Bar. Thank you for an amazing night filled with laughter, tasty food, great tunes, and long chats. From the hilariously oversized and beautiful George mural on the outside wall to the great little Seinfeld figurines dotted around inside, George's Bar takes you to another place; Awesomenessvillia. The theme is cool, the surfaces are clean, the atmosphere is chilled, and the bar staff are the most friendly and passionate group of people I've met in a long time. The toasties are delightful (I had 3, and would've had more if my pesky stomach would simply expand), the craft beers are very moderately priced, and the simplicity of the menu is refreshing and clever. The Monday trivia night was fantastically hosted and a genuine laugh for all. The toilets are clean (a rarity in most pubs), and the decor makes you want to just walk around and look at everything while you sip your drink. The people who run this bar are a credit to the industry (the owner, the bar staff and anyone else involved) and my only negative is that there are not more bars like it...everywhere. I travelled 2 hours to get to George's Bar and would've travelled another 6. If you've watched at least one episode of Seinfeld, go to this bar. If you haven't, go to this bar. If you don't even like bars or have had a bad experience at one, go to this bar. I will be back.

I'm a big Seinfeld fan, so when I found out about George's Bar, I had to go. We went on Saturday and stood outside with a few others waiting for the doors to open at 6pm. It's not a big space, so within 10 minutes the place was already crowded and the bartenders were busy. For their themed cocktails ($14), some are labor intensive (like the Marisa Tomei) and took longer to make.

The food selection isn't that good (toasties, pretzels, and Twix), but it's a bar first and foremost. The toasties, which are grilled cheese sandwiches, are a good deal for $5. We had the Quitter and the New Yorker, which were on a nice bread that when grilled had a nice crunch, but wasn't hard.

George's bar in Fitzroy has received a huge amount of attention both locally and internationally. So last Wednesday we organised a group of us to see what all the fuss is about. George's is a bar that pays homage to George Costanza, the character out of the very popular TV show Seinfeld. The bar opens at 6pm, and we arrived around 5:55pm and there was already a crowd hovering at the entrance awaiting for the doors to swing open. Once the clock reached 6pm the doors opened and we were greeted warmly by the cool looking bar staff. Upon walking in the venue it had a very distinct New York vibe and style to it. Timber floors with white tiles on the walls. Now, not being a huge Seinfeld fan the theme was a little lost on me, a few George's quote and photos on the wall certainly got the punters camera flashing.
The cocktail menu was limited and design with the Seinfeld theme in mind. From a Bloody George, which was their version of a Bloody Mary, to a Draped in Velvet, which had similarities to a Long Island Ice Tea. The beer list, whilst safe, had a good range of both local and international beers. The food menu was basically toasties and there was a selection of 5 to choose from. I had the New Yorker, which was hot salami, mozzarella cheese and tomato. For $5 it is what is.
The crowd was a good mix of southsiders and locals and I got the feeling they too didn't understand the hype. So takeaway the Seinfeld connection and your left with a pretty cool bar. The service was on point and the staff certainly made sure everyone was having a good time. Time will tell if George's survive the fickle bar scene but I really hope it does. Would I return? Sure would.

Best free comedy nights I've ever been to. Amazing lineup every week, intimate setting. Good meeting spot for drinks + snacks the rest of the week too.
